So my feelings on this scene are... complicated
I think most of this is good. I like having Rouge show up and give Knuckles some tough love here. She’s very blunt about it, but she’s just being a realist. This is stuff Knuckles needs to hear. Especially the stuff about the Brotherhood. Yes, I am a Penders hater, so I love seeing one of the characters say that the Brotherhood’s tactics were extremely flawed (to put it generously) and that they didn’t do shit to stop Robotnik. But Locke already made the mistake of falling back on those traditions super hard in a time of crisis when Eggman took over Angel Island during the timeskip, and we don’t need Knuckles repeating his dad’s mistakes, so yeah. This really is something he needed to hear
The problem is... then Rouge goes and says this
She doesn’t outright say it, but with the Master Emerald RIGHT THERE and her telling Knuckles to leave Angel Island more often... yeah, the implication seems obvious, and it frames the whole thing as Rouge being the devil on Knuckles’ shoulder
This... yeah, I just don’t like this. Is it just me? Am I just too used to the modern version of Rouge (including in Ian’s own writing) who’s unambiguously 100% one of the good guys, just with fewer scruples about things like lying and cheating and stealing? Am I too used to her wanting to steal the Master Emerald mostly just being a joke these days? Am I just too big of a Rouge stan? (Okay, admittedly, yes, I am that.) I dunno. Her trying to steal the Master Emerald is one thing, but her taking advantage of Knuckles’ grieving... that feels too far. Rouge wants that Emerald, but she still has a heart. (This bit also portrays Knuckles as really gullible and easily swayed, especially only a few issues after Finitevus swindled him, but I think Rouge gets the shorter end of the stick here for how malicious she seems.)
Ian’s been writing Rouge as much more... shall we say “morally gray” in his early days on the comics, and I just don’t know how I feel about it. She’s the Freedom Fighters’ go-to GUN ally, but she’s also kind of a shitty person sometimes. I don’t know what inspired it. I know the way Rouge has been written across all Sonic media has changed over the years and she used to be WAY more selfish, but this was published in 2008. The main games had been steering towards a less petty Rouge for a while. In Archie canon, she’s been an ally of Sonic and co. for a while now. The events of Sonic Adventure 2 where she helped save the world already happened off-screen ages ago, and we’re now only about a year’s worth of comics away from the formation of Team Dark. But then she’ll also go and pull stuff like this that paints her as a villain
Was Ian just going off of the more antagonistic note Penders had left Rouge on? Did he just not want to completely give up a female member of the comics’ rogues’ gallery? Did he think Rouge’s “gray morality” set her apart from the many, many other female heroes in the comics? I honestly don’t know. It’s just kind of jarring to read something that paints her as so cruel--and I know we’ve got a few more oddities like this to go before Ian really figures out how to write Rouge
The weird thing about this story, though, is that... I’m not sure it was ever followed up on? Maybe there’s some stories I don’t know about, but there are no mentions of the Master Emerald or even Knuckles on the rest of Rouge’s wiki page past this point, and the folks who wrote that summary seem to have no idea what she was after here. We’re literally going to see her in a completely unrelated story NEXT ISSUE, and later it seems like the formation of Team Dark keeps her busy. So then... what was the point of this tease? What was she plotting? Was a subplot dropped because Rouge fans yelled at Ian? I have no idea

In a way the whole "Izuku is the Dragonborn" fic would need to leave most of the backstory of Izuku the 4-14 years old dragon slayer on luck or Inko doing all the work while Izuku is, like, put in a position of safety (he still needs to eat dragon souls tho, same for Miraaks... How would that work even?) So I might need to move things around a bit.
Basically here's the backstory on all major shit:
Helgen: Inko and Izuku run away with Hadvar. They are not scheduled for execution because, you know, Hadvar might not go out of his way for a stranger but there is a small kid involved, younger than his cousin dammit, way younger than your usual Stormcloak Child Soldier Conscript from Dawnstar (an actual canon thing believe it or not) so he puts his foot down. In the keep Hadvar does most of the work obviously, even if Inko does, in her desperation, cut down people getting dangerously close to Izuku. She is a better lockpick than she expected, especially with her Quirk, and Izuku in his curiosity ends up pawing off the book and a strange, mysterious ring inside the Mage's cell. They then go to Riverwood with Hadvar, where they are directed to both Farengar and the College for matters regarding magical space travel, so to speak.
Riverwood: However, they are pennyless and alone in a foreign world, so Inko tries first to make money by working at the local lumber mill as she sends a courier to Whiterun for the Dragon Thing. Assume we are playing with my modded version of the game, which means Riverwood is currently the home of one Triss Merigold from the Witcher. She is also spacially displaced as of late, and is searching for Yennefer, Ciri and Geralt, with whom she jumped into this reality before getting lost from them. Dorthe and Frodnar will direct the small Izuku to her, since Dorthe is the one "babysitting" Izuku while his mother works so he's playing with the slightly older kids. Basically, they know she is a mage of some sort since she showed them some sort of light show, and Inko still needs to make money if she wants to leave with the proper equipment so they can't even go to Farengarym yet.
This allows us to 1) Set up the Triss Merigold X Midoriya Inko endgame and NO I AM NOR FUCKING STUTTERING and 2) Give Inko a competent bodyguard of sorts before she actually does get used to the unforgiving land of Skyrim and starts giving people heart attacks with her Quirk.
Of the Major Guilds:
Companions: Inko Joins as a way to make money for Izuku. With the mercenary work she manages to buy the house in Whiterun, so now Izuku can be left in a safe location, with "Aunt" Lydia as his babysitter. Whiterun Shenanigans ensue with Izuku befriending Lucia and Lars. Also Braith but, like, after lots of character development. Lucia is obviously the first to be adopted.
Inko is the one who becomes a werewolf and the Harbinger in the end, Izuku is not involved in this Storyline outside of some encounters with "Aunt" Aela and "Uncles" Vilkas and Farkas. Inko renounces her condition in the end.
College of Winterhold: They move to winterhold together since Farengar can't help them. Izuku is actually a quick study, as exemplified to that one spell book he found in helgen that thought him within seconds how to shoot lightning from his hands, much to his mother's worry. He ends up killing a bandit in self defense that way when he's barely 5. It was either do that or let them get to his mom.
Anyway, Inko is enrolled, but so is Izuku, the two now living on College Grounds. Triss is also there as an honorary lecturer. Anyway, Whe most of the adventuring is still done by Inko, is Izuku who receives the visit of the Psijic Order and, ultimately, he is the one to kill Ancano and close the eye of Magnus. Inko becomes Archmage still, even if she tries her hardest to have Toldfir step up instead.
The way Izuku kills Ancano is actually more based on guile than actual magical prowess. He is the only one not paralyzed in the boss fight, so what he does, is grab one of J'Zargo experimental Scrolls, summon a Skeleton Minion (Oblivion spell he was recently taught so to have someone protecting him in times of crisis), and then run with it against Ancano, too busy as he is being a megalomaniac, suicide bombing himself. He survives, but only thanks to the Restoration Professor quick intervention as Ancano dies and the paralysis falters.
Restoration magic did save the day in the end.
J'Zargo, who is usually aloof and snarky over his experiments, is actually horrified his rival's son almost got killed because of him, so he pledges he will do everything in his power to find a way to help them with their issue. He is a great magician after all, and his class is one of the brightest to date, they can find a way out for them.
Dragon War: Since all they can do now is wait for the College, Inko returns to Whiterun with Izuku and Triss, but on the way the watchtower is attacked, Mirmulmir is slain, and Izuku absorbs his dragon soul. This jumpstarts the events of Skyrim, with Izuku and Inko having to go on a pilgrimage to High Hrothgar to better understand what is happening to her son, who is now terrified of talking least he blew his mother apart with his voice.
A 5 years old kid makes a poor warrior, so the Greybeard offer to train him for his destiny, but Inko refuses. They don't need her son to kill dragons, just to eat their souls, so what she can do, is do the actual dragon slaying, and then have Izuku eat the souls. This still forces her to bring Izuku on her adventures, which isn't ideal, but only the dragon related ones. Izuku still learns the shouts of unrelenting force and whirlwind sprint as well as Dragonrend, but is Inko the one wielding the blade.
As a side note, Paarthurnax, for once not having to deal with a 4th era Nord, can finally give the unadulterated lore of the order rather than the imperialized, akatosh centric one, which leads Izuku to grow interested in Kyne, Warrior-Widow of Shor, for how much she reminds him of his mom.
Anyway, Inko is the one doing most of the stuff, Paarthurnax isn't killed, and Izuku gets two dragon buddies, one a wise and aging mentor war criminal, the other a brash and snarky red dragon he can call with his voice.
Izuku and Inko go both to Sovengarde. Inko meets back Kodlak, but also Ysgramor, who she now recognizes as a war criminal bastard, and she is the one dealing the killing blow on Alduin. Inko, Breath of Kyne, is the one sand in the songs now, the mother of the dragonborn who delivered them from evil.
Thieves Guild: Inko also does it all, but is the start of Izuku's involvement with Daedras. Inko takes the pledge to Nocturnal, so her soul is now bound to her realm, but is her son that catches the Prince's eye. Inko also tries to reform the guild back to its old robin hood ways, with divergent results.
Explorer Guild: This is the Legacy of the Dragonborn Mod. Inko founds the explorers guild and moves to the now bigger home in the Museum in Solitude. Proudspire manor has been bought by Yennefer, now advisor to Queen Elisif, who thanks to her influence has grown more confident. Girlboss helping Girlboss prosper and all that. She lives there with husband and daughter, and there's a reunion with Triss. Usual angst about "is she going to leave me? Are our adventures over?" But Triss stays because she cares about Inko and shit.
Anyway, inko is the one doing most of the stuff here too, but she now has a big enough home to adopt more than just Lucia.
She adopts every orphan, as well as Sissel and Britte in Rorikstead after murdering their abusive father. She then kills Grelod in Riften, so to also be able to adopt the orphans at the orphanage. To do so, she catches the attention of the Dark Brotherhood since she just stolen their contact. She of course adopts Aventus Aretino too.
Dark Brotherhood: All Inko. Unlike thieves guild, Izuku isn't even aware she's doing this, since he's back in Solitude with his new siblings.
Princes:
Izuku does Sheogorath. He's playing in the streets with his siblings and the other Solitude kids, when he finds Sheogorath abandoned follower. So he sneaks in the blue palace, gets to the forbidden wing, and meets Sheogorath, the Hero of Kvatch. Does his quest since it's a pretty easy quest even for a 5 years old kid, and then gets the Wabbajack in exchange.
Inko does Sanguine. The sham marriage is actually to Triss this time, which leads to more angst obviously.
Inko also does Vaermina (destroying the staff), Dagon (Destroying the Razor), Hircine (Gets the Ring), Malacath, Namira (Saves the priest and kills the cannibals), Molag Bal (Just... Never completes his quest and leaves the bastard hanging), Boethia (sacrifices one of the two racist dudes in Windhelm after trucking him into following her), Azura (Uncorrupted Star) and Peryte.
Izuku finds Meridia's Beacon but it's Inko who does the quest.
Izuku is the one meeting Barbas and they have "A boy and his dog" adventures together before he manages to bring him back to Clavicus Vile and convince him to take him back without needing to do his quest. He gets the Mask as a Result, but also a dog in the form of Styx, the spectral wolf, another mod.
Izuku does Mephala, pretty early on too. He befriends Baalgruf's bastard son while still living in Whiterun, who tells him about the whispering door, and after a couple of deceptions he gets the blade. He never charges it tho.
While is Inko the one getting the Ogma Infinium, she can't open it, and is Izuku the one opening it and gaining the boost in knowledge, as well as becoming Herma Mora champion.
Dawnguard and Dragonborn are also done by Inko, but is Midoriya who is sent to Apocrypha when she opens a black book. There he has a odd "Older Sibling trying to murder Younger Sibling" relationship with Miraak, and is ultimately forced to see him get killed by Herma Mora. Aunt Serana becomes a permanent fixture in the house.
Bard College is done by Inko but Izuku is also part of the college now.
Most quests are done by Inko, but the misc quests that require either speech or guile are done by Izuku, especially if they involve children. This includes stuff like paying for Erik the Slayer armor in Rorikstead, or cheering up that girl in Solitude whose uncle was executed for aiding in regicide.
Speaking of which:
Civil War: Inko does it obviously, and she sides with the empire, because 1) Hadvar, 2) Baalgruf, and 3) Elisif.
And also because she went to Windhelm one time to stop a serial killer and gods she couldn't believe how racist those fuckers were.
Modded followers are obviously Inigo, Lucien and Shirley Curry, to name a few.
Forgotten City is done by Inko, Izuku is not even in the time loop. Project AHO is done by Inko and ends with her freeing the slaves and murdering every single slaver in the settlement. Most modded quest mods are done by her honestly.
Izuku obviously keeps himself up to date with his magical studies, which means around 8-10 years old he moves back to winterhold, still waiting for a way home, so J'Zargo can study him to reverse engineer his quirk, and he can learn more spells. Most of his siblings are almost of age by now too, and his mother has started calming down in her worry, since she trusts her old coursemates and teacher to keek Izuku safe...
Ok, no, she trusts Onmund and Toldfir to keep Izuku safe, in this order, but it's still more people she would trust if he started living with any of her other guilds.
Anyway, can't think of much else.

Pitch Me your thing!
HELLO HELLO MY SUNBEAMS. For most every category, there was an impressive turn-out for pitches, so I thought we’d utilize the weirdness of this year’s GIFTENING to give something new a try. The popular vote winner for each category will happen on the first day, but on the second, the winner will be chosen from YOUR PITCHES. Mostly those pitches will be to me. The exception is in Miscellaneous, where you’ll be pitching to my family, because what I want to do and what is most entertaining isn’t necessarily the same thing.
So! How will we do this thing? GLAD YOU ASKED. I’ll link you to a form in a minute with space for one pitch. Once you fill it out, you’ll be asked if you want to do another. There’s no limit to the number of pitches you can send in! But remember that if you submit multiple entries for the same category, you’ll basically be competing against yourself.
NOW WE’VE GOT SOME RULES FOR DOING THIS (which I mostly stole from Holligay, because I have no creativity this year). Please read them carefully! I’ll toss pitches that break any of these, and I’d rather your hard work not go to waste.
Pitch Me is open for your submissions from RIGHT NOW (22 December) through the very last day of this hellyear (31 December) at 11:59pm MT.
The thing you pitch must have come from what was nominated for THE GIFTENING 2020. (Full list of those nominations in every category below the cut on this post.)
Entries must be unsigned! I’m looking to chose based on the pitch alone, regardless of who submitted it.
The pitch itself must be 100 words or less. HAVE PITY ON ME I CAN ONLY CONSUME SO MUCH.
If you’d like to get some help, ideas, feedback, all that good stuff, the Discord is a FANTASTIC resource I encourage you to use.
HERE IS YOUR PITCH SUBMISSION LINK
And, as promised, below the cut you’ll find the list of all the nominees in every category you guys sent in this year. IT’S A LONG LIST HAVE FUN WITH THAT

What are all the Fallout companions like?
depends on the game my friend there’s been a couple of fallout games, the ones i know the best are new vegas and 4 although i didn’t hang out with much of the vegas companions as I should have. I mean i’ll give you info on the ones i Know but it might be long an inaccurate gonna be kinda long
Fallout new vegas:Rex: DOG. 2. *peggle 2 gif* Cyber dog that was owned by the leader of a group called the Kings. They are just a bunch of elvis impersonators. You give him a new brain cause he’s sick. He’s like a dog but cooler.Boone: Super Duper Depressed angry seething emotionaless sniper whos so damn upset because his wife, the only thing that brought him joy after he left a part of the army was sold to slavers, ya know, as a slave and he killed her and his unborn child to save her from being a slave and lives with the guilt. He is mad. all the time. or seething. quitely.E-De: floating little robot. can’t speak but makes noises. He has backstory but it doesn’t really matter. He is a little ball.Lily: Nightkin grandma. Nightkin are like super mutants which are like big mutated humans that like to make flesh bags of things and kill because of a virus they got. But nightkin are like them but crazy cause they use stealth boys which is a thing that makes you invisible and it fucks up their head. She is nice and a grandma and thinks you are her grandson. Danse is a good two shoes in the sense that he follows those orders to a t. You learn out later he’s a Synth, a synthetic human like a human made in a lab by tech. Everyone is afraid of synths cause the people who made them do bad things. Danse didn’t know he was one because ... complicated stuff too long to put here. He wants to end it but you can save him and tell him there’s more to life and you care about him. Danse is very robotic in tone, big beef cake and after that he tries to be less of a ignorant slut. Most of that racist shit was him trying to fit in to the only family he knew and trauma from his childhood friend turning into a mutant.Hancock: a ghoul who is a mayor of a small town where stabbing people is ok. Child in a man’s body at times.Deacon: works for the railroad a secret organization that liberates synths. helps them move on, get new identities and live a normal life. Secretive himself, lies a shit ton, literally spies on you in game until you meet him. has disguises but all of them has his stupid signature sunglasses. Companions + Middle Earth
@saintlyguy was inspired to write the companions reactions to the Bright Lord! Err...should I say Blue Lord XD Enjoy! ***Minor Spoilers for Shadow of War*** Ada: Deathclaws, Rust Devils, and the occasional encounter with Mechanist robots were at the top of Ada’s list of Commonwealth threats. That was until the Super Mutants began painting themselves blue. She had no idea what got the green brutes to work together. One by one, the settlements her caravan visited fell under a blue flag. She was able to see their leader, The Blue Lord first hand when a defective Super Mutant attempted to raid her friends. After getting her legs ripped off, all Ada could do was watch; watch the Blue Lord singlehandedly (literally) break their mind. “ALL OF THE COMMONWEALTH WILL KNOW YOUR FAILURE!” Cait: Needing a break from the piss and trash of the Combat Zone, it was time for Cait to head out for a stroll. “Going to ‘work’?” asked Tommy. “You know it.” “Work” was Tommy’s analogy for a stroll. But for Cait, it was time to work out; pick a fight elsewhere. This time her stroll brought her to Trinity Tower unfortunately. At least for most folks. Before she could make a mad dash away from the Super Mutants, she was pulled into the dark by a green hand. “Oh fuck” This would have been the end, if not for a little influence from The Bard. “Shh, quiet human.” Cait was saved by a Super Mutant? This could be a trick, but one “friendly” mutant was better than the rest. “Why’d you save me...you...you Hulk?” “Mac Beth says Milk of Human Kindness makes Strong strong. Blue Lord explain kindness is milk. Strong is strong with kindness.” “Whatever keeps you straight... or...however mutants swing.” “We swing right to left with hammer.” As the awkward silence ensued, it got dark. Dark enough for Cait to sneak back to Tommy’s. “Hey big guy, the sun’s getting low. Can I go now?” “Brothers leaving, you leave too. Dark keep you safe. Strong keep you secret.” “Thanks.” “What the fuck was that?” Cait thought for the next week. It was game night at the Combat Zone, Cait had beaten all the challengers that had come to challenge her on the hopes of taking her title and a hefty payday; wannabes like Iron Fist, Killbane...hell this guy called Electricutioner came in with power fists hooked up to batteries and Cait knocked him out on the first swing. “Now it’s time for the main event!” announced Tommy. The door of the opponent began to open and Cait readied her bat. “I give you! Your Incredible...” RAAAAAAAAHHHHHH The same Super Mutant that saved Cait last week tore through the door and gave her a pleasant surprise. “YES!” This silenced the entire Combat Zone. “WE KNOW EACH OTHER! HE’S A FRIEND FROM ‘WORK’!” A friend who grabbed her by the neck and pinned her to the wall. “Oh come on" Cait croaked. Then the Hulk leaned in to whisper, "Stay low, brothers taking this place. Blue Lord wants you in their army." Codsworth: If anyone can find young Shaun, it was this Mr. Handy’s master. Well, he may become everyone’s master now that they have an army of... ewww... Super Mutants. Not to mention the occasional deathclaws and mirelurk queens they tame to ride into battle. They claim that this was all dedicated to finding Shaun. As much as Codsworth would like to believe them, this army... that ring... it’s a conquest. No. An invasion. Who in the right mind would feel safe with Super Mutants patrolling the roads and mounting heads on towers? This was something Codsworth couldn’t be apart of; something that made him defy his designated directive. With a heavy metal heart, he resigned. “Mum/Sir, I quit.” Curie: Upon being discovered by the residents of Vault 81, Curie was rejuvinated by new opportunity: to explore the Commonwealth and its vast secrets, societies, and species. The last part was an exciting anticipation... which became something to fear. Not only was the Commonwealth full of monsters like Deathclaws, Curie could never have predicted the imposing threat organized Super Mutants could pose. After attempting to observe in secret (which nearly led to her being torn apart) Curie felt she needed a new advantage; a human advantage. This inspiration came when she saw that the blue uniformed Super Mutants were led by a human. Their “Blue Lord.” Maybe if she experienced being human, she could understand how one person could dominate over a savage species. Curie would need to find someone who could make her human. Only then would she be able to begin to understand this “Blue Lord.” Danse: Cambridge was under siege by feral ghouls. Normally Danse would be able to handle mere ferals thanks to his power armor. However these ferals were not only overwhelming in numbers, but also organized? They came in through the alley ways, sewers, and chokepoints; making it difficult to focus fire. Ferals couldn’t have done this... They were positioned by someone! And that someone just pulled his fusion core. Danse was left a statue amongst the midst of ghouls, who halted at the command of “A Vault Dweller?” “QUIET FOR THE BLUE LORD!” A super mutanr roared as they dragged Haylen and Rhys out of the police station. The Paladin and his squad were shocked that their outpost was compromised by a single Vault Dweller; A Vault Dweller who had super mutants and ferals at their disposal. “So. How does the Brotherhood of Steel feel about being beaten by my Army of the Dead?” Deacon: “OH FUCK ME RIGHT IN THE ASSHOLE” is what Deacon would say if something threw off his wig. It’s also exactly what he said when Super Mutants raided Railroad HQ. Their organization and new blue war paint aren’t the only things that surprised him; what really made him take off his shades was the fact that a human, who was a freaking Vault Dweller leading them all. That explains the blue. Then a lightbulb flipped on. “If they were human, than they could be bargained with.” Deacon put on his smarmy grin and tried to convince the “Blue Lord” into a deal that would ensure he and the Railroad would walk away from this, maybe with some new friends. Big, green friends. “Listen here you little RATBAG, I’ve got enough spies in my army.” “But not human spies. Wanna hear what’s going on in Diamond City or Goodneighbor, I’m your guy! Wanna sneak some stuff throughout the Commonwealth, the Railroad’s your go to movers. Need to clear out a place you don’t want Super Mutants to destroy, we’ll send Glory; she’ll leave the foundations intact.” It would be nice to know what’s going on amongst the humans. Also it could lead to Shaun. “Ok, RATBAG. Deal. You can keep doing what you’re doing at my camps and under my supervision, so long as you feed me info. Doublecross me and I’ll feed you to my deathclaw.” “IS IT CALLED “FLUFFY?” “Their name is Smaug.” Dogmeat: Not much can make you care after you see your spouse get murdered and you child kidnapped. But you can still feel a sliver of something with a dog. It was unforeseen that the Blue Lord, leader of a super mutant army would adopt a dog. It took a while for Sole to convince their right hand, Strong that Dogmeat isn’t food. Eventually they would spot Strong feeding Dogmeat, petting him, or playing with him. He wouldn’t lay a finger on the dog if it meant hurting him. Then one day, the Blue Lord called out for their pup. “Dogmeat!” Strong came in bearing very unlikely and unfortunate news. “Oh dog is dead. Strong stomped on him while playing. Feel guilty. Carried him all day.” Just then Dogmeat sprang to life, relieving the Blue Lord and Strong. “Dog, you’re alive!” Facepalming, Sole gave Strong a stern warning: “If you actually kill Dogmeat, or even put him in harms way, I will mindfuck you like I did Bruz.” “What is fuck? How do you mind fuck?” Gage: Taking over a soda themed amusement park seems like a sound idea compared to taking over said soda themed amusement park with super mutants, deathclaws, feral ghouls, and gatorclaws. What’s even crazier was how only one person, who was a nobody Vault Dweller, have all these monsters under their thumb. All Gage knew, was that he wanted to be on the winning side when Nuka World’s rivers of Quantum, ran purple with the blood of the Disciples, Pack, Operators, and anyone else who squared up to this Blue Lord. So after Colter and his defences fell, Gage approached the Vaultie at the slim chance that they won’t sick a gatorclaw at him. Hancock: People in high places like MacDonough, the asshats who ended the world 200 years ago, and even himself are the ones Hancock despises the most in this world. The only person who could top this was the “Blue Lord.” At first he was impressed that they could lead an army of super mutants and not be eaten alive. He was more so uplifted when he heard that they were taking out the raiders and gunners. This streak of good impressions was derailed when he actually came face to face with their soldiers. If a mutie wasn’t loyal, they were broken and enslaved. Slavery of any kind doesn’t fly with Hancock, even of super mutants. Sure a majority of the time mutants are seen as a threat, but there are those who are civil and have even stayed in Goodneighbor. So he made it clear that the Blue Lord had no place in Goodneighbor, unbeknowest to him: making the town a target. Kellogg: “There was no way a Vault Dweller could survive the Commonwealth.” That’s what Kellogg thought until Fort Hagen was raided by super mutants, mirelurks, ferals, and a deathclaw. All under the control of the Vault Dweller. Normally he would have synths to back him up. But they turned on him, bringing him to his knees so that the Vault Dweller could get their cold and unforgiving hands on him. “WHERE IS SHAUN?!” Whatever they were doing to him, Kellogg’s entire life flashed before his eyes; all up until the last time he saw Shaun. Upon being released, Kellogg’s cybernetics all burst; leaving him brain dead; defenseless and unresponsive. He was a meal laid out for the Vault Dweller’s mutants, and all he could do is watch as the mutants and ferals ate away at him. Feeling every bite and tear, unable to scream. Longfellow: When a Vault Dweller comes to Far Harbor saying they wanna see the local fauna, makes you double take. The caps were good, so Longfellow took them around his hunting spots. But they weren’t there for skin. They were there for the animals and monsters. Anglers, gulpers, and fog ghouls came to do their bidding. “Did I drink some bad pisswater?” The Vault Dweller taming Far Harbor’s most dangerous creatures didn’t make Longfellow reach for his gun, since he really didn’t need to do any killing. Until they took Erikson’s dogs and brainwashed him into becoming their dog as well. “I don’t know who the hell you are, but I know that of all the things that crawl all over this island, you’re the most beastly of them all. ‘Cap’n.’” “That’s Blue Lord to you, old man.” MacCready: Gunners turning up dead. Nice. Super Mutants coming together. Not nice. Super mutants painting themselves blue. Weird. What was even weirder to MacCready was hearing about a Vault Dweller calling themselves the Blue Lord strut around the Commonwealth with and army of super mutants painted blue. It was like somthing out of an Unstoppables Comic. Kinda like that one story where that green monster guy got sent to another planet. As if the story couldn’t get any weirder, the Blue Lord just walked into the Third Rail. Maxson: After hearing about the fall of the Cambridge outpost, Maxson knew it was time to bring the calavary to the Commonwealth. What he didn’t know about was the army of blue clad super mutants waiting for him. His scouts reported a Vault Dweller called “The Blue Lord” commanding super mutants against raiders and helping them take down Vertibirds. “Time for the big guns.” It was time to FORM VOLTRO- no. We’re not doing that (yet). It was time to bring in Liberty Prime. What would have tipped the scale in favor of the Brotherhood, became the Blue Lord’s new toy. Maxson watched as the Vault Dweller commanded Prime to its knees, mount its shoulder, and command it to “OPEN FIRE!” at the Prydwyn. Nick: Getting kidnapped by Skinny Malone was a breeze compared to being stuck in his vault while it’s being raided by super mutants. What made Valentine choke on his cigarette smoke was that they were being swayed by a Vault Dweller. He got the pleasure of meeting them eye to eye when they arrived at the Overseer office. “Want a job?” they offered. “No thanks, I’m currently employed.” “Well let me make an offer you can’t refuse.” They commanded a mutant to punch trough the class and tear Valentine out from his former prison. The Vault Dweller then dug their hands into his face. All Nick could think of was who the hell was this person? What are they doing? Is this the end- SKKKKKKKKKKRRRRRRRRRRAT What can I do for them? How can I help them? “YOU ARE MINE.” They finalized as they let go. “Glad to be on the force.” Piper: This Lois Lane had only heard of the first Super Mutant attack on Diamond City and how the Minutemen had saved them. Now there aren’t any more Minutemen, but there sure are plenty of super mutants. Which was evident when there are like 10 behemoths knocking at the gates. Powerless against such a force, the citizens of Diamond City cowered and waited for the end. The end sounded like a hoard of mutants clashing. Piper held Nat and shut her eyes. The sound of “RUN AWAY!” made her pop up to see what had transpired. What a sight: the super mutants were hightailing out of there. What appeared to be their saviors, was more mutants? What engaged her into investigation mode was the blue war paint and the Vault Dweller leading standing among them. “THIS CITY NOW STANDS FOR THE BLUE LORD!” Preston: The definition of desperate would probably be asking a Vault Dweller leading an army of Super Mutants to reform the Minutemen. Preston was so desperate to keep his people safe and bring back the Minutemen. So what better way to not get eaten by super mutants and get a new general than allying with Sole? Although they preferred to be called Blue Lord, they had the numbers and a power unlike anything he had seen. The way they commanded even deathclaws made Mama Murphy consider going clean. What really made Preston shake was how they easily retook The Castle from the Mirelurks and slay an Mirelurk Queen. Even the way they address their army is scary. “THESE PESTS THAT HAVE ONCE INFESTED OUR NEW FORTRESS HAVE BEEN PUT TO THE SWORD AND ANY WHO OPPOSE US WILL SUFFER THE SAME FATE! NOW YOU HOLD THIS STRONGHOLD FOR THE BLUE LORD!” “and... the Minutemen...?” Preston added weakly. Strong: The anticipated rescue from Trinity Tower was sidelined by a takeover. A single Vault Dweller had made Fist and his followers kneel. This earned Strong’s respect, making him jump at joining this new leader. No brainwashing or shaming required. “Strong will be your shadow now, Blue Lord.” “That’s what Bruz said. Then he doublecrossed me and now he’s a husk. Learn from his mistake.” While the Blue Lord talked, Strong noticed a tasty meal on four legs by his new leader’s side. “Don’t even think about eating Dogmeat.” “But dog meat is meat! Eat meat!” X6-88: The courser had anticipated that the Institute would need to face its enemies; The Brotherhood, Minutemen, and Railroad. Never would he guess that it would be Father’s mother/father and their army of super mutants; the Institute’s own super mutants under the leadership of a once potential ally. While evacuating the scientists, the Gen 2 synths began to malfunction. SKIDIDPOWPOW “Reactivating. New directive: serve the Blue Lord” Then the synth gorillas broke out of containment and began devouring the scientists. Whatever the Blue Lord was using, defied any known science practiced within the Institute and would be it’s utter destruction.
