so so sooooo tired of all these tourists from the usa/western europe/other rich countries going to southeast asia and other vacation hotspots in the global south and making tiktoks saying how “cheap” everything is and that everyone should try going there because their currencies will get u a lot of things here LIKE. do none of them teach how currencies work. or that these countries being “cheap” for Them is a post-colonial legacy that they contributed to one way or another. and that they’re being so insensitive in their amazement of low prices when a lot of ppl are struggling to get by. like can u just enjoy ur vacation without being patronizing and annoying

#not to mention all the white women making vids about how safe it is for them #and not to dismiss their fears over danger because that is a very real concern #it's like no one wants to think how white people are viewed in the global south #of course no sane local is going to attempt doing anything to a white tourist they Know the consequences #and also like ppl already think of them so highly ofc they don't wanna pull any shit #LIKEEEEEE im so tired of these tourist videos popping up everywhere #also pisses me off when they never plan ahead for any international travel and can impulsively go anywhere #forgetting that in itself is a huge privilege that most passport holders in the cheap countries they go to cannot have #moi
