Odisha Assembly Pays Tribute To Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat

December 09 Odisha Assembly Pays Tribute To CDS Bipin Rawat Odisha Legislative Assembly paid rich tribute to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika and 11 others who died in helicopter crash near Coonoor of Tamil Nadu yesterday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the condolence motion as soon as the House assembled to transact its business today. Chief Minister said, "General Bipin Rawat had an extremely distinguished career of over four decades of selfless service marked by exceptional gallantry. He was conferred with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, and many prestigious awards. He expired on December 8, 2021 at the age of 63." Terming the sad demise of General Rawat and all 11 other armed personnel an "irreparable" loss to the nation, Patnaik said: "Their outstanding service to our nation will always be remembered." Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro, BJP member Bishnu Charan Sethi, CLP leader Narasingha Mishra and Communist leader Laxman Munda spoke in the House supporting the obituary motion.
