Because sometimes you get curious... I'm trying the 19 Crimes 2019 "Cali Red," with Snoop Dogg on the label. For a wine so young, it has no tannins; definitely a wine to be imbibed sooner, rather than later. It's pretty hot (14%), with intense notes of bilberry, dark chocolate, sawdust, but isn't complex at all. Reportedly a blend of Petit Sirah, Merlot, and Zin, this wine has a shockingly intense purple color, and has a slight sweetness to it. I would classify this wine as medium bodied. As the wine opens, additional notes of cherry, tobacco, and... uh... a subtle hint of pumpkin spice (no, really!)... appear on the palate It's not bad, though I'm not honestly sure if I'd drink it again. The 2019 Snoop Cali Red is definitely a fruit bomb that would appeal to the average consumer. I imagine that this wine is probably best enjoyed on it's own, perhaps with a joint or two, in the spirit of, well, Snoop Dogg. Though since I don't know the first thing about pot other than it's got almost as many varietals as grapes, I will leave it to the experts to figure out the proper pairing of pot strain to wine blend.
