Having a rave? (Which is what the cashier at Dick's asked me) Hoarding for a zombie apocalypse? Nah. Just stockpiling nutrition for my upcoming Spartan Beast in Vermont. Got all varieties of gu and chews. Nabbed some energy shots and beans as well as a couple strips of ostrich jerky (low fat, high protein) and tablets that dissolve in water bottles (or in my case a hydration pack) to add electrolytes and sodium. Had to buy some ziplocks in the hopes of keeping things dry, some glow sticks per race rules, and finally new shoelaces that snap shut as I have a bad habit of taking my shoes off in races and not being able to untie them (I'm 2 for 2 on that front....whoops). It's amazing what one can achieve by simply never giving up, by pushing past what is comfortable and by creating an amazing support group. Today I felt great, knee felt fine, and I was pretty happy with my pace going into the race -- well, until mile 3-4. My knee injury from the Spartan World Championship had come back. It was irritated and was not happy with the terrain I was putting it through. Being hurt so early in the almost 9 mile race it would have been easy to give up and say it just "wasn't my day" but what good does that do? Now it is not a race for the podium finish but a race to FINISH! What a concept! Lol. I was able to meet and team up with some amazing people who either were also injured or just wanted to help and be a part of the group. I truly think that is what OCR is all about-- Helping others realize and see just how much MORE we are all capable of and taking those new positive realizations to use into everyday life. My time for the OCR Worlds was 4:09, overall I was 6th in my age group of 12, but because I was 1 out of the 2 in my age group who completed all the obstacles I ended up placing 2nd. Just goes to show you how important it is to never give up, for whether an ending is good or bad you can ALWAYS pull something positive from it. ❤️ #OCRWC #OCRGear #SportNutrition1 #BeetElite
