Imagine spending a day shopping high-end clothes and accessories at 30-50% off retail, having fun with your friends, grabbing a bite and a drink and enjoying activities with the kids. This day exists and it is the daylong shopping event Super Saturday hosted by the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA).

On July 30, Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa and Gabby Karan de Felice hosted the 19th annual Super Saturday at Nova’s Ark Project, in New York. Super Saturday is a charity shopping event that includes top-notch designer clothes, activities for the kids, a raffle with amazing gifts and delicious gourmet treats.

Also known as “the Rolls-Royce of garage sales”, Super Saturday’s main attraction is the fashion designers sale. Almost 150 participants offer a vast collection of discounted merchandise for your eyes only! The attendees had the chance to shop from brands like DKNY, Ralph Lauren, VINCE., Bonpoint, Henri Bendel, MILLY, Shoshanna, Theory, alice + olivia, Brooks Brothers, Kiehl’s Since 1851, L’AGENCE, Calypso St. Barth and SoulCycle.

And for the ninth year in a row Rachel Zoe curated the famous “Designers A to Zoe” booth that featured a compilation of her favorite designers including Aurelie Bidermann, Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenberg, Erin Fetherston, Giambattista Valli, Jenni Kayne, Lanvin, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Pam & Gela, Rachel Zoe Collection, Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney and Temperley London.

Super Saturday held many new surprises for their guests like, the Lifestyle Marketplace created by Donna Karan and Gabby Karan de Felice. This unique marketplace had one of a kind finds in clothing, accessories and home goods. Also the exclusive fashion destination, Suite 1521, had a booth with pret-a-porter clothes and accessories from brands such as ADEAM, Anya Hindmarch, Ashish, David Koma, Edie Parker, Giles, Giulietta, Markus Lupfer, Mary Katrantzou, Olympia Le-Tan, Peter Pilotto, Preen, Rialto Jean Project and Rodarte. And let’s not forget that modern artist Jeremy Penn created 4 amazing art pieces on-site. They were all sold at auction.

Apart from shopping for a good cause OCRFA’s Super Saturday NY had many activities for adults and children. The attendees enjoyed psychic readings with Betsy Wahmann, floral crown making with B Floral and wine tasting from Brancott Estate’s Flight Song wine bar. On the other hand kids had a marvelous time doing arts and crafts, watching performances at Camp Divalysscious and playing the coolest video games at Space East.

The guests had the pleasure to participate at a raffle with lavish prizes from designers including Charlotte Olympia, Manolo Blahnik, Lorraine Schwartz, Gucci, Coach, POLOGEORGIS Furs, Barneys New York and Seaman Schepps and experiences donated by RIPPED Fitness, F-Factor, the New York Football Giants, 27 Hampton Salon, Fred Marcus Photography and Kidville, among others.

Of course the event had many special guests included June Ambrose, Joy Behar, Kelly Bensimon, Lorraine Bracco, Jonathan Cheban, Mayor Rudolph & Judith Giuliani, Katherine Jenkins, Star Jones, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Rebecca Minkoff, Cathy Moriarty-Gentile, Elin Nordegren, Molly Sims, Jill Stuart, Kristen Taekman, Christy Turlington, Aida Turturro and Ingrid Vandebosch.

The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance was founded in 1998 and since then it has invested almost $70 million in ovarian cancer research through 255 grants to scientists at 69 leading medical centers in the country. It is the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families. All of the proceeds from sales of merchandise, tickets and tables go toward funding OCRFA’s programs, including vital ovarian cancer research by the nation’s top scientists as they seek to end this terrible disease.

It is believed that through the support of sponsors, vendors and attendees, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance’s Super Saturday is expected to raise nearly $3.5 million. Maybe next year will be your turn to show your support and have a great time.
