When I first thought about OCIN, I knew I first wanted to create a platform that would inspire our most open, free, and conscious selves. To break walls, and connect us to ourselves again, to our communities around us, and to the things we love and care to protect. I wanted to inspire a lifestyle through our brand, that would shift the way we think about the things and companies we invest in, and also our connection to how we feel with and about them, and started with swimwear — a product that connects us to the oceans (a place of that gives us freedom, limitlessness, and healing) and that has the potential to impact greater than we think; to be seen as a piece we invest in, that can give back, and that can shift our perspective with the relationship that little choices we make can make a difference on the world. Tomorrow is the start of a whole new decade for me and I couldn’t imagine going into it now, without this community that we’ve built with OCIN. It’s the scariest thing to start something new on your own, but this journey has been nothing short of humbling and inspiring so far. Thank you to the organizations and brands around us that push us and amaze us everyday. Thank you for supporting our small business and those that we humbly sit amongst. A couple weeks ago we held a little birthday hang at a local beach in our home city, Vancouver, and invited our Collective to celebrate with us the way we know how; with good energy, good people, and doing good together. We started the morning with an oceanside meditation led by our friend Anita Cheung and ended the day with our Surfrider Vancouver family on a collaborative beach clean up. As our chosen non-profit partner for Chapter I, we wanted to do something meaningful to commemorate our year together, and with our community, we did just that; 1 hour, 1500 cigarette butts, and 150 of you later, we made this cleanup one of the most successful August events that SRV has seen to date.
