I have decided it's a mini physics rant time. EINSTEIN IS A MAGNIFICENT B A S T A R D

A CENTURARY LATER, AFTER HIS DUMB EQUATIONS, WE STILL HAVENT PROVEN HIM WRONG. WE STILL HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING THAT FITS MORE RIGHT THEN HIS IDEAS. The E=MC^2 equation, the really famous one about the speed of light. You know what that ties into? SPACETIME AND GRAVITATIONAL WAVES. Einstein is the one who looked at Newtons BS and went, here's how this works on a grand scale. In 1974, EINSTEIN WAS PROVEN RIGHT, with gravitational-waves being detected. So.. EINSTEIN YOU B A S T A R D.

Visible matter does not mean it interacts with light, visible matter interacts with s o m e t h i n g. For our calculations to be right, there either has to be invisible matter, or… well…. The theories are wrong. No one has found a better answer than Dark Matter, yet though, not for lack of trying either. So how does this tie to Neutron Stars? Density. Density. To get why density is important, let me explain something called the strength of interaction. Think of a wall, and a beam of photons (light particles). The strength of interaction is how likely and easy it is from the photon particles and the atoms in the wall to hit each other, to interact. So two blocks of wood hitting each other is a higher interaction then neutrinos hitting literally anything. Now how does strength of interaction tie into Neutron Stars and Dark Matter? It could be how we get measurable proof of dark matter’s existence. Due to dark matter not being found by any other types of measurements that has been come up with, our best hope is dark matter interacting with the core of a Neutron Star. Due to the density, the strength of interaction might just be high enough to get an actual measurement on it. I’d add more to this but I have a killer headache so yeah. Sorry if this is incomprehensible. Next ask Ill go over some inaccuracies I accidently had with previous asks.

Neutron Stars are truly the spiciest of stars due to how much they teach us, they give great insight into everything from gravitational waves, to neutrinos, to even the creation of heavy elements (the r-process). Yes, the wording is very great.. Also, it's been excepted, and oh boy. Moving on! Turn of the Tide: a really fun and angsty hurt/comfort mermaid au. Starring Tommy as a mercreature under the control of Dream, and the SBI help. There is also some really good prequels and I believe a fluffy sequel. Its been a while since a physics ask so take a part one of 2.

Its Dark Matter time huehuehue. But Ocernia? What's Dark Matter and what does it have to do with Neutron Stars? Well, to quote a physicist who is my advisor for my paper, Dr. Itzhak Goldman (look him up he's great, he's a leading edge physicist who is used for citations on Neutrinos regularly.) “Dark matter is kind of a magic stuff, it has gravity but its interaction with ordinary matter is very small, very weak. Because otherwise, we would have detected it in all kinds of laboratories.” So, to explain why we think it's real. Galaxies have a center that the things within it orbit. These orbiting things (solar system ect.) are moving at a certain speed due to the mass they have. Mass is, kinda like the weight and density. So this is all great, the amount of mass translates to the speed the matter is orbiting. Matter is a type of particle that has no real velocity (that's not actually true but for simplicity's sake just go with it). It makes sense I promise, I just don't quite understand it myself yet because I am missing the mathematics to get it. But there is just one problem, the galaxy is moving faster than the visible gravity would allow. This means one of two things, our calculations of gravity are wrong, or there is more matter. *cough cough* DARK MATTER WEEEH. The next ask I'll explain what dark matter is and what the relation with the Neutron Star is.

This is so cool literally what the fuck. Shit like this makes me question my entire existence.

I have had a request for more smart people. SO I SHALL DELIVER CARL SAGAN. This guy is the one who said that really cheesy famous phrase “Billions and billions.” Yep, that was this guy. He is a really big name in the planet's community for his understanding of atmospheres, and being a consultant for NASA. But his really, really, big name comes from he was very good at getting people interested in astrophysics and getting them invested… despite his uh, interesting attitude. He is the one who got people like Neil Degrass Tyson in the field. Fun FactL Neil Degrass Tyson was the one who got me into this kinda stuff.

Some physics to help your day? I know youve been having somewhat bad day, so take me correcting my own mistakes!

First off, Neutrinos! I was mistaken when I said Neutrinos push out the matter in supernovae or NS collisions. So, Neutrinos are formed through beta-decay (Neutrons becomeing protons and electrons). As the Neutron Decays, it releases neutrinos AND energy. Neutrinos move faster than the energy does, and escapes far ahead of it. Neutrinos are more like the observational precursor, the beacon, to show something of great energy is occuring.

Also! Neutron Stars were not discovered in 1987, they were discovered in 1967 (I believe). Neutrinos (17 of them) were discovered in 1987.

YOU WANT BLACK HOLES I WILL GIVE BLACK HOLES BABY… STARTING WITH THE BASICS. I have heard black holes described as (and I quote) Spicy stars. While a really cool image, not quite accurate. The thing is we don’t know quite what black holes are. We just know the effects they have on surroundings and what they do. Well mostly what they do. Anyways did you know there is a black hole in the center of most galaxies? Well there is! Black holes have a strong enough gravity to keep all the solar systems and nebulas together and orbiting. Even in the Milky Way! And as we learned with gravitational waves, each thing is getting closer to the black holes because of those waves. Black holes do emit them. I am rambling you'll notice here but I am tired and excited. You know that we have never actually seen a black hole? We can only tell they are there because they warp the light around them due to their immense gravity. We can figure out almost everything about a black hole up till the event horizon. The event horizon is the edge right next to the “hole” in the black hole (the pure black thing in artistic representations). We don't know anything past that because nothing comes back out from there. Well technically something does, but ngl I don't remember much about that. I used to have a major interest in black holes and then I discovered Neutron Stars, so I know a lot but not much about the scientific stuff behind it (unless it's related to Neutron Stars of course). Also I speed ran this after your response to the last ask.

Ah sorry! Just getting to read this now! But this shit is so interesting. I had my own black hole phase sophomore year when that photo of a black hole came out? I did some research on it for a project but that was the extent of it. This stuff is rlly cool. I’m taking a class next year called Earth and Space Science so I hope to learn more abt it.
