i am all for platonic expressions of love (“love you” “<3” hugs etc) but i started doing these because i had a bi panic in year 10 and thought. “do i have a crush on this girl? guess i’m bisexual” AND I PUSHED IT DOWN FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. i was so scared that i would express to my friend i thought she was hot that i said “love you” after every drill we did that day in pe (it was boxing. people were probably sick of me. blame her.)
anyway i like to think that ocean o’connell rosenberg is the *exact* same, she had a crush on constance so started saying “love you” to her but even once she pushed the romantic feelings down it became a lovely platonic expression
