I got it finished! It’s awaiting validation over on Displate, so we’ll see if it’s good enough for the contest.

I toned down the background because the black made the top half virtually disappear. My family still thinks I’m insane.

A lot of people probably won’t get the superimposed reference, but it’s Blackbeard. I remember being taught in school that one of the things that set him apart was the rumors that he wove slow-burning fuses into his hair and beard so he’d be even more terrifying. That’s why there’s the wisps of smoke.

When I was 13, we went down to the Outer Banks to see the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse after they had moved it back in 1999. Amazing view if you can handle heights. I think we only stayed a couple days, but in that time we visited Kitty Hawk and saw the Wright Brothers memorial, as well as took the ferry to Ocracoke Island. If you’ve never been, you should really go, because while it’s not as popular as Disney it still holds it’s own charm. But if you’re not a fan of fish, get stuff for sandwiches unless you want to anty-up for a burger. Also Highway 12 feels like it will never end, but it’s also the only way in or out by car, so...
