Had this little blurb marinating in my brain for awhile now: when Alicent spreads the rumor that all of Rhaenyra's sons aren't Laenor's but Harwin Strong's, tried to tell Viserys, but he willingly turns a blind eye to it

Well what IF? Alicent did the same to Maegaera's and Alexsander Hightower?Maegaera has given birth and yet the babe's little bits of hair looks a bit like Alexsander, Maegara's sworn shield. But Alicent decides to pull a Viserys and willingly turns a blind eye to it, focusing on Maegara and saying that the baby is just beautiful 🥰

And Rhaenyra is like "b*tch you had no problem bashing me and my sons but you draw the line at Maegara? 🤨"

And Alicent even whispers loud enough for Rhaenyra to hear to Alexsander: "Keep her happy, and congratulations 😇" knowing that Rhaenyra can't say squat and that she and Alexsander are basically rubbing it in the Heir's face that Maegaea is absolutely HAPPY with Alexsander

Hell, even Aegon and Aemond don't even talk about Maegara's children having hair close.to Alexsander, all of them brushing it off cuz I think in the books, Rhaenys had black hair and I think the Baratheon was the cousins to the Targaryen

alicent and aleksander are cousins so of course she brushes it off, the hypocrisy drives rhaenyra mad but she never says anything about the brown haired twins that maegara gives birth to despite not even being married. viserys, alicent, rhaenys, and even daemon all turn blind eyes to it even when the truth is glaringly obvious. maegara was born out of an egg, there's no possibility for the child to inherit brown hair from her directly but aleksander? yeah.

it doesn't help that aside from a few features and the eyes, the twins look exactly like aleksander.

alicent acts so proud of aleksander when she's introduced to the sleeping twins in maegara's arms. viserys turns a huge blind eye and regardless of who acts as maegara's guardian, they all act as happy grandparents.

maegara is often spotted taking strolls with the two babies in her arms, aleksander at her side like always, it's abundantly clear to everyone who the father is but they all turn a blind eye. aemond and aegon are even worse, those babies are maegara's children alone to them. father? what father? their irritation towards their mother's cousin only gets worse. if they didn's dislike him before, they definitely do now.

Random question for during season 2 of HOTD in just about any episode, what would kind of moment would it be it Alexsander got really really REALLY pissed?

I'd say like when Aegon found out his son was dead and he said "I'LL KILL THEM!!" Or something close to that for Alex

mmmmm, aleksander is a really calm person (that murder other people for his princess but shhhh that's a secret) so it would take a lot. aleksander doesn't even react to insults directed at him, he pretty much just ignores them like he ignores literally all of his family but the second you say something about maegara it turns into "i would kill for you. ask me to kill for you."

he's very guard dog in the way he won't react unless maegara actually says something about it. he'll start to get upset and she'll just go "it's okay, let's just go. i don't care about insignificant people." and he'll let it go. but if its something that genuinely affects maegara, he has no mercy.

something that gets close to that is luke's death.

in maegara's canon timeline (like her og timeline) the dance never happens, everything goes smoothly. (granted in this og timeline, maegara ends up with jace and not aleksander) but in a closer to actual canon au, everything goes the same, luke dies and maegara fucking loses it. when she gets the news, she literally goes on a war path. she wants aemond dead, deader than dead. she wants to him rot and be forgotten. she wants everyone who knew him (other than her family) to be dead so that his name can be forgotten.

he goes about it differently, alicent tries to talk to aleksander. they're cousins, that's his cousin's son, alicent insists he should have mercy, he should be siding with her and he just fucking loses it.

"Side with you?" Aleksander stares down at alicent in complete disgust as he yanks his arms back like it's been burned. "Your one eyed fucker of a son killed my queen's son, the queen who's seat you just stole. drop the righteousness, you're nothing but a two faced bitch, alicent." Aleksander cares little for her tears.

"Either I kill your son, or I will you both. I'm sure no one would care either way so GET OUT OF MY WAY!" His voice descends into a shout, irritation filling him as he stares her down.

If this hadnt been asked yet, but can I ask what it would be like between Maegara and Daemon if her twins with Alexander (boy and girl) were threatened by Blood and Cheese but she fights back but both of her wings are cut off and her son is killed instead of Helaena's? Not sure where Alexander was but he was probably knocked out, sorry if its plain

SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 EPISODE 2

And when news reaches to Dragonstone and Daemon is acting suspiciously quiet when the letter only reads "The boy is gone" everyone assumes it's Aegon's son but NO. It was Daemon's GRANDSON who died and even Rhaenyra eerily tells him "Your grandson has been killed, Daemon..." and the letter has some tried bits like tears were spilled on it which was no doubt Maegara's. And that would probably be the last time she would ever engage with her father in any kind of way....

i genuinely don't think aleksander would have left maegara's side nor that blood and cheese would have happeneed to maegara (even if it did, she's a fire breathing dragon in human form, literally what would they do to her?????)

i think if it did happen, maegara wouldn't actually be hurt other than a few knife scratches and even then she'd be completely devastated, she'd never forgive her father for this.

(other reason why i think it wouldn't happen is because maegara x aleksander exists in the context of that maegara is daemon and laena's child for all intents and purposes. aleksander dislikes his family. maegara lives in dragonstone with rhaenyra, daemon, aleksander and their family (jace, luke, joffrey, aegon iii, viserys ii, rhaena, and baela))

What would have happened if Maegara lost her eye and not Aemond?

oh daemon would have not let that shit go. if by some chance, maegara had intervened in order to protect aemond due to her not wanting him to be hurt and luke had injured her in the same manner as in canon, everyone would just be frozen in horror.

maegara, who has a reputation for being this sweet child who picks flowers and smiles like the sun, nicknamed the realm's sunshine, wails as she clutches at her injured eye, and everyone just scrambles to help.

daemon would just lose it. seeing his beloved child, his lovely daughter, the other half of his rotten heart having her eye stitched as she's being comforted by rhaenys would just gut him.

aleksander literally has to be restrained by every guard nearby because if you think this guy won't fight a child, you're wrong. he is feral and super overprotective, he will fight lucerys.

rhaenyra is horrified but still defends her son against aemond and accuses aemond of manipulating maegara to gain her support and use her as a shield to defend himself but maegara is too delirious from the blood loss to refute it unfortunately.

everyone is so utterly horrified and the arguement breaks out as she's delirious from both blood loss and the mediciation that the maesters gave to her.

aleksander and daemon would definitely hold a grudge for this entire situation, against both aemond and lucerys and by relation they'd hold grudges against rhaenyra AND alicent.

i don't think maegara would put a gem in her empty eye socket. but i do think she'd make her own eyepatch in the shape of a blooming rose which earns her the nickname 'blooming rose' in gossip circles.

i think that whole event would scar her pretty badly to the point that she'll be incredibly tense and uncomfortable around knives.

Because Otto is a scumbag and he's the worst father/uncle:

Otto, trying to manipulate Alexsander into being loyal to their house: But... it broke my heart when Alicent went to comfort the king after the Queen's death. When the King dies, Aegon will be King and Magaera would have to comfort him

Alexsander, who had personal thoughts of murdering the king who believed picked Alicent because she was young and fertile only to realize that Otto practically whored out his own daughter and he'll probably do the same to his granddaughter and saw how lonely Alicent was because she was young herself and Magaera is still young herself: ......What?

Otto, realizing he fucked up: Now, I know that sounds... concerning, but-

And Daemon just suckered punches Otto breaking his jaw cuz he was there listening in cuz he knew Alexsander would've done worse and thus Daemon gets ANOTHER banishment 🙄

And Maegaera's crying to Corlys about Dae.on being banished again but can she stay at Driftmark for a bit, maybe do some fishing... :(

otto better be very careful cause aleksander has no emotional ties to his family. he barely tolerates alicent, his own cousin. aleksander's loyalty is only to maegara. he doesn't care about anyone else. not daemon, not the others of valyrian descent. only maegara. he's her personal knight, her protector. if otto thinks for a second that aleksander didn't develop murderous tendencies from living with daemon and being trained by him then otto's dead wrong. aleksander has killed for maegara and he will kill again for her.

maegara is so upset at daemon's banishment, her own beloved father while she's made to stay in king's landing that she goes and sobs to her beloved grandpa corlys (cause remember maegara is born out of the egg of vhagar and caraxes, she forms attachments with daemon and laena as her parents) and corlys takes the opportunity to invite her and laena to live in driftmark for the time being.

aleksander, of course, also comes with, wherever maegara is, aleksander follows.

Was there ever an ask IF Maegara became the first Queen of the Seven Kingdoms instead of Rhaenyra?

Otto: Queen Maegara needs a husband (is planning to marry her off to that Lannister guy)

Daemon: on that we agree which is why she SHOULD CHOOSE

And I feel like Otto would see this as a loss because the Lannister's were wealthy as shit so money, plus Alexsander has zero ties to his family, only to Maegara. Yes, it would be in the end Hightower blood sitting on the throne, but Alexsander wouldn't let anyone he deems a threat anywhere near his children, ESPECIALLY his own uncle

But I feel like he'd tolerate Daemon because he could be the future kid's grandfather at the end of the day

let's be honest, alek plots his uncle's (otto) death until maegara voices her disapproval (not because she likes otto, it's more because she doesn't want his death to mar their reputation) and then he let's it go. reluctantly allows otto and alicent to stay in the red keep as long as they don't do anything that upsets maegara.

maegara is a fair queen and listens to problems, no matter how big or how small.

daemon and aleksander don't dislike each other as much as they make it seem. they share a lot of qualities which is good and bad. aleksander will in fact cut a bitch for maegara and feel no remorse.

What would Alexsander and Maegara be known as throughout the histories when it passes down to Daenerys? What were their accomplishments during the Dance of the Dragons?

Aleksander is known throughout history as the executioner. when i say that aleksander's loyalty resides only with maegara, it's not a lie.

aleksander wasn't abused by his hightower family but he was the middle child, the need to prove his worth by basicaslly selling himself was imposed on him heavily. what he wanted to do and what he liked didn't matter, all that mattered was to prove himself useful and worthy of the hightower name in the eyes of his father, uncle and other family members.

daemon was heavily against having him as his daughter's personal guard, dismissing him as nothing more than an eyesore. even rhaenyra disliked him, seeing him as a spy put there by otto. maegara was the first person to show him an ounce of kindness, so his devotion towards her is something that's basically unbreakable.

he followers her every command and order and even takes her suggestions to heart. he becomes increasingly more harsh as war breaks out between targaryens, everyone who aims for maegara's head, will end up dead by aleksander's hand.

aleksander and maegara live in peace for a few months before news of lucerys' death reaches them and maegara mourns terribly.

aleksander takes extreme offense to this, disliking the death of the boy and disliking the pain it put his princess is in and basically vows to bring her aemond's head.

which he kind of does. after the battle between aemond and daemon, he brings daemon's body to rhaenyra and aemond's head to maegara.

maegara and aleksander live in relative peace for a few years, maegara traumatized by being forced to watch sunfyre eat her stepmother's body, develops very frail health which she eventually passes from about five years after rhaenyra's death and aleksander basically dies from a broken heart.

their story is passed down as a bedtime story for other targaryens, about the pureblooded dragon princess and her loyal executioner. about a princess who kindness outweighed everything and a man who would have set the world on fire if there was the chance that the fire would have warmed her.

its one of the many stories that viserys iii tells to daenerys.

If Aleksander grew up with Maegara under the justification that they were close in age and that if he trained as a knight, he could be his guard. so wherever daemon and his little girl went, little aleksander also went saying that he had to take care of his princess.

ok, little drabble just for you.

was it a little harsh that prince daemon targaryen hated aleksander hightower, maybe a little but he was firm in his stance ever since the queen all but pushed him towards his precious baby, maegara.

"Al!" Daemon was weak in the knees at the sounds of his beloved daughter's happy shout but did his bitterness increase at the call that was not for him? yes.

"Al!" Maegara yelled, a sweet smile making its home on her face as she raced towards him, flowers crown in hand.

"Mae!" Aleksander was equally happy, rushing to put his sword away as he rushed forward, eager to attend to his princess.

Maegara smiled even wider as she placed the flower crown on his head. "I knew Al would look pretty."

"Never as pretty as you." He remarked under his breath, his heart beating faster and gods, daemon had never hated him more.

nothing had changed with the years, Aleksander Hightower climbed through the ranks, his skill matching Ser Criston Cole's. Good enough to be a knight for the king or queen but instead, he chose to become the personal knight of Princess Maegara Targaryen. Following wherever she and Prince Daemon went, never faltering once.

He never faltered from her side, always holding out his hand to her with a gentle look in his eyes.

She never saw how tender his hands would be as they traced upon her cheeks or how his heated gaze, longing and craving her affection, never once left her but daemon did.

Knight Aleksander Hightower would always choose Princess Maegara Targaryen among everyone else. No one could compare.

if lucerys were to take maegara's eye, daemon can't even consider jace an option for his daughter anymore. Wouldn't it be nice to see when Aleksander wants to protect Maegara now if he starts to approve of it despite being a hightower?

oh absolutely, the second lucerys takes maegara's eye (no matter how accidental it was) daemon's support of jace marrying his beloved daughter just dies.

it's weird for everyone watching for daemon, who once looked at aleksander in disdain, to be encouraging his behavior toward his beloved maegara.

daemon enables and encourages aleksander's already murderous tendencies towards those that even look at maegara in a way that is less than kind.

daemon had hated aleksander for being a hightower knight who in his eyes wished to taint his beloved daughter but now, daemon fully endorses it, the daemon who purposefully kept his daughter and her personal guard apart as much as possible turns into the daemon who has aleksander accompanying her as much as possible. when it becomes apparent that maegara and aleksander are being intimidate with each other, daemon turns a blind eye to it.

in that scenario, alicent and otto plus aleksander's father would be extremely pleased. they all wants maegara and aleksander to be married.

If I may share a but of knowledge from a game called Elden Ring, there was something in it that stuck out to me since playing the game and you find it out by NPC's and the lore of items you come across and collect. But basically how is goes is that an outer God wanted it's Age and Rule to continue, so it had these things called the Two-Fingers and what they do is that they pick those who were meant to take over as the Queen's successor

And they were called Empyreans, and they were basically born to be raised to God hood in order to keep their Age forever and eternal, and these Empyrean's are given something called "Shadows" which usually take the form of a lupine (wolf) creature as to not only watch over their Empyreans' but to also slay them if they seeked to be free of the Outer God's clutches

So I was thinking, since Maegara was born from Vhagar, one of the last living dragons from Valyria, it can be assumed that she is something close to a God, but she would be known as an Empyrean but for this case, I'd say she was dubbed as the new God of Valryia if the Targaryens were ever to hopefully return home one day. And who has she had as her shadow since as a child?

Alexsander Hightower. Her very shadow, incapable of treachery to his only princess and possibly future Queen. He ensures her safety and follows her everywhere and takes his duties seriously but he's also kind and caring to her as well and even loves her

aleksander has killed for maegara and will kill again with absolutely no remorse.

maegara isn't much different. being raised by both laena and daemon, she likes to be kind, being treated kindly and fawned over is better than being regarded with fear but maegara is still a dragon. sometimes, maegara watches people for a long time. she doesn't understand humans sometimes. how strange they are. oh but not aleksander, she takes all of aleksander's acts in stride. his possessiveness, seen as weird and dangerous by otto and alicent, were met with amusement by maegara.

we know that vhagar is maegara's mother, so I imagine that when aemond claims vhagar, the pretty maeg asks for permission to see her dragon mother and the stupid aemond tells him that he can see her as many times as she wants (all so that he can be near maegara). Aegon, Jace and especially Aleksander are very jealous. Not jealous of Vhagar (although Aegon might be, he says his dragon is much more beautiful), they are jealous of Aemond and Aleksander is definitely going to take it out on him in training.

aemond would absolutely use it as a reason to get maegara close to him and then turn and stick his tongue out at the other three boys as they barely restrain their anger.

maegara sees caraxes all the time being that her beloved father has her adoptive father as his rider but ever since aemond claimed vhagar, she hasn't seen her mother much so she jumps at the opportunity to see her mother.

my personal headcanon but maegara being that she was born from two dragon, can communicate with other dragons.

aegon would insist that she visit sunfyre next, its only fair after all, since she is visiting dragons and maegara doesn't have it in her to refuse his petulant demand.

aleksander is absolutely going to take out both of these brats his cousin sired in his next training session as he dutifully follows behind his dear lady.

this audio fit aleksander and maegara so much that my self indulgence just went wild, its maegara and aleksander's world, we're all just living in it.

"She's a princess, and you are her guard." Rhaenyra spoke up, her voice tainted with sympathy despite the fact that she knew she was doing this to give her son a chance with her beloved girl. "That's something no amount of effort is going to change."

"But I love her." Aleksander was relentless, he had grown up with Maegara and Prince Daemon, she was his from the moment she had smiled at him for the first time, no matter what anyone else thought.

"If you really love her, you'll let her go." Rhaenyra turned and walked away, her heart throbbing at the thought of the love she just robbed her precious girl of but her son deserved what he wanted.

'how about I just continue to do what ever the hell I want? Yeah, sounds good to me.' Aleksander nodded to himself as he turned the other way and walked to Maegara's chamber, where he was headed before he was stopped by Rhaenyra.

Technically, it's maegara he serves and not rhaenyra so if his beloved girl had a problem with it, he would then stop but until then, whoever even dared to pursue his love would end up with a sudden loss of life.

aleksander assuring maegara that she is still as beautiful as ever and that her scar does not change anything !! 🥺🥺 I feel that daemon would tell her that her scar does not change her beauty and that the best warrior in history (visenya) had many of them which she wore with pride, it is her way of comforting her precious daughter. (rhaenys, baela and rhaena give her cute eye patches so she can match them with her dresses)

aleksander would make doubly sure that maegara knows that he loves her and this changes nothing with how he feels for her. aleksander will absolutely press kisses into the fully healed scar when they're alone, whispering to maegara softly that she will always be the most beautiful girl he has ever seen.

daemon will absolutely go feral on anyone who dares to insinuate that maegara's scar makes her any less beautiful or powerful, she is a pure dragon the likes which has never been seen before. so what if she has a scar? visenya was a warrior queen who had many scars.

rhaenys, baela, rhaena, and helaena all makes cute eye patches for her. the one helaena makes has a cute little white spider with red eyes on it. maegara also makes her own eye patches with cute little designs on them.

What if Viserys decides to give Maegara a companion or protector when she is little? he says something like "aemond could be, they are a similar age and you can teach him to use the sword to protect her"

BUT DAEMON JUST TAKES BABY MAEGARA IN HIS ARMS AND RUNS OUT OF THE RED KEEP

technically, that is what aleksander is. alicent and otto basically gift him to maegara as a companion and then he becomes her personal guard later on. daemon vehemently refuses because no way is he letting a goddamned hightower near his beloved daughter but viserys basically uses his power as king to force this upon daemon.

daemon is very salty about it for the rest of his life but if he ahd to choose between aleksander and aemond, he'd definitely choose aleksander because he knows aemond is already calling his baby "my wife." and wants no part in this.

Say it’s Maegaera’s name day and a tournament is thrown on her special day. All the knights either ask for Heleana’s, Rhaenys, or one of her granddaughters favours but never Maegara due to her eyepatch. The only one who does it is some Baratheon who asks her of her wreath out of mockery and so, Daemon and Alexander desire to enter the tournament in order to be her knights.

Daemon decides to make an example out of an Ayrrn random guy, asking for his daughter’s ring or necklace as a favour.

But for Alexander, she straight up gives him her eye patch as she smiles at him and sits back down with a happy smile.

These two are so beautiful, I canNOT-

maegara, in all her superiority complex, takes great lengths to keep her hurt feelings hidden when people choose others over her, almost as if she wasn't even worthy of giving her favor.

aleksander takes offense to that, and daemon takes an even greater offense to that.

the combined chaos of aleksander and daemon is dangerous, much more than anyone wants.

they both enter just to ask for her favor, completely ignoring everyone else as maegara giggles, eyes lighting up as she gives them both her favor.

aleksander wins the tournament singlehandedly and crowns maegara the queen of love and beauty. the smile of her face is worth it. he kisses her hand as maegara, with all her draconic features, feels all her bad feelings wash away.

aleksander and daemon will burn the world to the ground for her and its so funny.

i bring to my very special, still in progress, everyone lived happily ever after au where the dance didn't happen. i do have a draft of little maegara snippets, dunno if you guys want me to post it but it exists!

if there was anyone that aerin loved the most in this world, it was his mother. Sure, his father was great, he was strong, he was loving and he fervently protective but his mother had always been the source of such love for him.

he remembered days spent with his head in her lap as she ran her fingers through his hair softly, singing him to sleep. he remembered her shining smile so vividly. 'there was never a day I didn't love you.' she had once told him, her eyes so soft that it hurt.

aerin had always felt his heart ache at the thought, his mother was filled with so much love, for him, for his father, for her family. and yet, he feared her disappointment at his confession that he wanted to be a scholar and not a prince, not a knight or a dragonrider.

maegara targaryen-hightower had smiled at her son, her soft hand taking his hands in hers. He was her pride and joy, her beloved child. "You can be whatever you want, you are not bound by blood. I only hope that you choose a path that brings you infinite happiness like mine brought me."

"because of father?" aerin asks, one brown and one purple eyes staring up at his mother before she smiled, hearing the calls of her father, his grandfather and her beloved husband.

"of course one of the happiest points was meeting your father but knowing that i was pregnant with you made me happier than anything else. if I had to suffer a lifetime of torment with the simple knowledge that i would get to hold you in my arms once again, then it would all be worth it, my beloved aerin. after all, that's what love is. despite all else, the good, the bad, choosing that person against all odds."

"sounds like a fairytail."

"Your father wishes it was a fairytale." the irritated voice of prince daemon spoke and maegara laughed.

"As mean as ever, father."
