“K?”

Kavinsky blinked. Then again. He realized what he was, more like who he was holding, and immediately loosened his grip. He heard his boyfriend laugh softly beside him.

“She’s not going anywhere, baby. She’s an infant. The most she can do is be cute and cry.” The infant Proko was referring to was K’s daughter, Ava. Well, he supposed she was their daughter. K tended to hold her too close, too tight. He was just nervous. He was a first time dad who never had someone to look up too when it came to child care so he and Proko were flying blind.

K and Proko seemed to roll reverse. K was constantly worrying about his baby, helicoptering around her constantly. Proko seemed to have his shit under control some how, seeming to know exactly what she needed when she cried, and some how not crying with her. K didn’t understand how the man did it, because K felt physical pain when his baby cried and he locked up, unsure of what to do.

Currently the two were sitting on the couch, K too afraid to move, Ava was finally asleep and like K, she was a light sleeper. K slowly sat back on the couch so he was more comfortable and could put Ava into a better position on his chest. He finally relaxed and leaned closer to Proko.

“Easy, please don’t wake her.” The two were admittedly exhausted. The whole pack had stepped up but were well aware K and Proko wanted to try this on their own and together, and they respected that. But they were always there to step in when needed. And Ava had not slept well that past few nights, and that meant her parents did not sleep well.

“What if shes sick?” K asked for the tenth time. “Joey baby, she’s still getting used to the world. She’s going to have sleepless nights, it’s normal.” Or, that’s what the parenting books said. K groans softly. “Or she could just be clingy. She sleeps just fine when we hold her.” He says, clearly struggling to keep his head up.

“Yeah, well shut up and come here. She’s asleep and you look like hell.” K pulled Proko into his side and covered him with a blanket. Ava rested on his chest and Proko curled into his side.. and Kavinsky couldn’t be happier.
