how does alley’s personality change with their sizzeeeeee?
So I eventually settled on the concept of Alley-Free being someone who hates everyone she meets, with (almost) no exception. They generally don't have anything pleasant to say and they would have been fine just spitting their opinions out loud for everyone to suffer. But I made them a lil ol prop plane in a Decepticon army, where this little guy has to deal with giant jets, tanks, and with a reputation of violence.
Alley general doesn't speak up and is more skittish and two-faced around other bots. She layers everything in either so much sarcasm or uses a softer, kinder voice (like customer service) to avoid getting their tailpipes inverted.
It's tiring and frustrating (given that her ire goes over most bots heads and if she wasn't afraid, she'd probably straight up kill someone) and it warps her own mood and disposition even in more calm moments or when she's alone, never really letting herself enjoy the solitude because she's so worn out and never catches a break from others.
If Alley was a no longer a little Cesssna Skywagon and instead a big B-17 Flying Fortress, that fear of physical assault isn't there anymore. And when that fear never appears, neither do all the safeguards for that fear. Bomber-Alley is a lot more honest, and a lot meaner. They doesn't bother with trying to sucker up to the stronger bot because they are the stronger bot and can absolutely throw hands over it. This compounds as it leaves Alley with a lot more energy in her own time to do her own thing, and while she'll still never really come around in liking people, she gets more time with things she actually likes and is generally having a better time all around.
(Although I didn't mention it in the initial post, Tower also changes a bit too, but kind of in the inverse way. While Alley-Free and Bomber-Alley appear as different characters on the surface but hold similar pillars (everyone sucks and they've never met a bot they like), one of Tower's core principles (strength is the end all be all) is uprooted due to the fact Tower no longer has that strength, or no longer benefits directly from that strength. She can't bully others around anymore, but still finds ways to be a slacking, problem-causing, smug-as-all-hell catgirl. It's that now this lies more heavily on pranks and loopholes instead of daring the foreman to tell her no.)
