Day Three of OCtober: Youth

@oc-growth-and-development this is the most I’ve posted on this blog in a while I’m really enjoying these prompts!

Characters used: Lillian Jones and Jennifer McKenzie Crawford

The lovebirds go out on a date and Jennifer is determined to clear any and all unsureness and misunderstandings

   "Did you like the movie?" Jennifer smiled at Lillian.

   Lillian nodded and pushed up her glasses, "it was a nice choice, I liked it."

   "Great! Next time you can pick. I'm sure I'll love whatever you pick." Jennifer checked her phone quickly. They had around thirty minutes before Lillian's brother came to pick them up. "Are you okay though?"

   Lillian looked back at Jennifer and she let the redhead brush some black hair from her face. "I'm fine. What do you mean?"

   "Well, you know, I really pay attention to you and what you do. So I know when you're genuinely happy or just trying for my sake." Jennifer explained.

   Lillian looked away and sighed, "I'm sorry, Jen."

   "It's okay! I'm not expecting you to be happy all the time! I just want to see if there's anything I can do. Wanna talk about it? Is it about us?"

   "...It is actually." Lillian nodded.

   Jennifer paused and furrowed her eyebrows together, "...did I do something?"

   "No!" Lillian grabbed Jennifer's hand, "trust me, you're amazing."

   Jennifer's cheeks reddened as she smiled, "well...what's up then?"

   "How do you feel about us?" Lillian asked.

   "This must be a trick question. I honestly...this is the happiest I've been in a while. Since Red and then meeting you. I really like being with you!" Jennifer grabbed onto Lillian's other hand so that she was holding both, "I could go on forever but I want to get to the source of what's wrong before Marcel comes to get us."

   "This isn't temporary for you?" Lillian furrowed her eyebrows and looked up at her girlfriend, "I mean...we're only 15--you're about to be 16. A lady told me this could all just be a phase. It made me think." 

   "When I first saw you I fell in love instantly! I love everything about you, Lilly! You're cute! I love your eyes, and your glasses, and how smart you are! I love how you can talk on and on about your favorite books and anime! You're hilarious and sweet, and--"

   "Oh my gosh, I get it!" Lillian let go of Jennifer's hands to cover her red face.

   Jennifer laughed, but her blue eyes softened a bit, "hey. Fuck that lady, alright? I'm pretty sure I'd know if I like girls or not. And as far as I'm concerned, we're totally getting married!"

   Lillian snorted and let Jennifer move her hands, "so I was overreacting?"

   Jennifer smiled as she pushed up Lillian's glasses, "yup! I'm not going anywhere. I love you way too much~"

   "I love you too." Lillian was about to give Jennifer a peck on the lips but stopped once someone cleared their throat.

   "I said no kissing." Marcel squinted his eyes.

   Lillian glared back at his brother, "you're annoying--"

   "I've always been like this, it isn't new."

   "In my defense she initiated." Jennifer raised her hands and quickly gave Lillian a kiss on the cheek.

   "Gross," Marcel grabbed Jennifer and picked her up as she laughed. He smiled slightly and put an arm around Lillian. "Come on. Katie wants to play with you two."

   "Put me down now--"

   "Nope. Let's go." Marcel made sure he had a good grip on Jennifer and started walking as she kicked her feet.

   "Hey! It's not my fault your sister is cute--"

   Lillian chuckled, walking after them.

   "I'll drop you." Marcel threatened.

   "Marcel!" Lillian hissed.

   "Alright, alright." He rolled his eyes.

   "I'm just joking, babe! It's fine!" Jennifer gave a thumbs up and blew Lillian a kiss.

   The girl smiled. She was definitely overthinking. Jennifer wasn't going anywhere. What was the harm in spending their youth together?

   Just another story to tell the kids they might adopt.
