━ 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗞;

Valentin Mercar (née de Ghislain), born on the 10th of Firstfall, 8:96 in Orlais. Once a proud chevalier fighting for House Chalons, he deserted and fled to Ferelden during the civil war in 9:40. It wasn't long after that the sky burst open and demons started raining from above, but Valentin found his purpose then by helping those in need through slaying the monsters that threatened the innocent. It earned him a connection to the Inquisition━ if only as a mercenary for hire, of sorts. Though with the official disbandment of the Inquisition a couple years later, his adventures would end up taking him north, into none other than the infamous Tevinter. His battle skills and ties to the Inquisition quickly earned him a spot with the Shadow Dragons; a faction dedicated to opposing corrupt rulers and slavery. It was the perfect job for Valentin; a way to right all the wrongs he had committed during his days as a chevalier. And then he met Varric...

Had this guy's character design sitting in my drafts for ages after I read The Masked Empire, and now he's finally here. The actual Valentin haha, not his Cyberpunk AU version. Yes he's in his 50s by now and yes I'm sad you can't give Rook greying hair, but I'm so happy how he came out nonetheless. My (unfinished) design of him for reference:

I have a huge lore doc on him about his background that by all means idm sharing about if you're curious, just ask and I'm so excited to play him now arrghhh. The game has been so great so far, though this guy is conflicted between Emmrich and Lucanis rn.

^ my guy valentin.. he's a retired surgeon/scientist :3 he's a little cringe and annoying in the way where he'll be uber polite and bend over backwards to please people. has a fucked up relationship with the concept of love and himself... I think he would benefit from adopting victor frankenstein mad scientist lingo into his vocabulary personally. tbh.
