HELL YEA I’m gonna be switching these with various ocs heheh

✈️ AIRPLANE — does your oc like traveling, or do they consider themselves a more homey person?

Tainer is 100% a traveling person! As the court jester, they spend very little time in the castle and most their time performing through the Duskzan kingdoms, hopping from various hotels and spots to rest inbetween performances. They don’t go outside the kingdoms all too much, but they rarely stay in the same spot for long.

🔱 TRIDENT EMBLEM — can your oc swim? do they enjoy swimming?

Broncrow is a scarecrow, and while he can swim it’s not reccomended. It wears down the sticks in his body and makes him sore for a while and the only way scarecrows can even get sick is through moisture due to mold. So he isn’t the biggest fan of swimming or getting wet, he even has a small fear of the water!

🌴 PALM TREE — does your oc have a green thumb? do they enjoy gardening?

The Alchemist kind of gardens! The Alchemists before them experimenting with growing food in the Nether and attempting to make it sustainable, and Alc used to try and further their work, but they quickly gave up because whenever they got caught they’d be given shit for trying something that would never work. So they just went to creating potions to make living in the Nether more tolerable

💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?

Neil quite literally considers food to be most important to him. Partially because it’s in his nature but also because he is just constantly in a state of hunger. Bogeymen were made with jacked up hunger because the Moon just didn’t understand how it worked, and since it’s pretty hard to get enough food and a consistent supply of that food, malnourished and small bogeymen (like Neil). Healthy ones are extremely rare, there’s only one that could be considered healthy. So Neil’s love is food

🍔 HAMBURGER — is your oc good at cooking? are they good at baking? which one do they prefer?

I’m just now realizing there’s a difference between cooking and baking. Anyway Valet unsurprisingly is a great cook, he worked as a bartender for a while and was trained pretty much to memorize and perfect a hundred recipes while working in the castle.

🤓 SMILING FACE WITH GLASSES — is your oc chatty or quiet? are they at ease in social situations, or are they more shy?

Broncrow is the epitome of chill but chatty. He tends to start most social situations, he cuts in and talks, he is very well versed in manners and hospitality. He is never outwardly rude or aggressive. He does have fun with teasing, but the only time you’ll know he’s pissed or aggravated is because he doesn’t outwardly say it he hides it under layers of passive aggression so he isn’t seen as rude.

Here’s Tainer!

First actual designed side character for the story. Theyre a litezan, and they use they/them.

Despite technically being a jester, they have a lot of responsibilities both in and out of the castle, mostly with keeping the citizens upbeat, calm, and safe, as well as keeping up the reputation for those in the castle. They’re also fraternal twins with Valet, the castle’s butler

can you tell us more about trainer? i absolutely loved their(?) design the first time i saw it!!

YES I have so many thoughts about them!!!

Tainer is a litezan (species of the light element) who goes by they/them and is non-binary lol. They’re the Court Jester (more like Royal Jester) of the Kingdom of Dusk, which is a very high position. Most of it is tending to the citizens outside of the castle however, normally with entertainment, but also checking up on people quickly. They are particularly a master in spotting out lost tourists and ushering them to where they need to go, or to the castle to stay! The other big part of the job is having a say in the big decisions.

Most of it is just entertainment though, since the world is currently at a record long era of peace. So Tainer tends to thrive with their shows, where they play simple tricks, slapstick, comedy, contortion, a lot of it. They seem like a funny silly guy, but they have serious upper body strength and balance as one of the few litezans who can actually climb up walls and twist their body in ways that should not be possible.

They’re also the light side of “the Coin Twins,” both literal and metaphorical. The Coin Twins is sort of a celebrity nickname thing for them and Valet, since Valet works as the Head Butler (similar to the court jester but mostly inside the castle), and is their literal twin who they grew up with.

And while Tainer is very loud, upbeat, and a bit too enthusiastic and in your face, they are a really bad people pleaser. When asked, they usually shrug it off with a “oh I just looove helping” but it’s really because they want people to like them. Them and Valet were the youngest in a pretty large family, and their siblings didn’t treat them the best. This ended in Valet leaving as soon as possible, sorta leaving Tainer behind.

Also Tainer is trans. They questioned what they were for a long time, jumping a lot from thinking thinking they were male or genderfluid, or just something else, until they found being non binary the most comfortable. It was only when they moved out a few years after Valet that they thrives in their identity, discovering their name and appearance by binding their wings and taking the step in medically transitioning despite the first few nerves. It was difficult, but Tainer thrived especially as an entertainer and through just being themself.

Also fun fact one: when Tainer got hired for as the court jester and found out Valet was the head butler, they thought Valet hated them and was giving them the silent treatment when in reality. Valet just didn’t recognize them. Tainer never let him live it down

And fun fact two: they have radio deficiency which means the energy in their body lacks radio waves naturally which means they end up temporarily blinding themself when standing up or swaying a lot. And also collapsing. Those moments are what inspired them to mess with slapstick comedy as well

🍰: What's something your OC counts as unforgivable?

That's actually... verrry hard. I used to do a lot of OCs that I could use for that wayyy back, but most of my OCs are more laid back now.

On The Instructor's role in The Midnight Zone (before I moved him to Astroranger for a more tame role), he did withhold a lot of crucial and lifesaving information from his brother, Hadal and an employee, Mira, as well as turn a blind eye and put them in a lot of danger to save himself. Even if it meant putting Mira in the exact same situation that resulted in him getting shoved into the "Instructor" position.

🍹: Does your OC have any funny anecdotes told about them?

Valet absolutely does!

So for context, after Valet left the household to put some distance between himself and his siblings, he left Tainer behind in the home since they weren't ready to leave at that time. However as Tainer began experimenting by themself and eventually leaving the house as well, they discovered they were non-binary and began transitioning and finding the name they were happy with.

Anyway when Tainer starts working at the castle as the Court Jester Valet, their twin brother, does not recognize them. Tainer is hella convinced that Valet hates them but no. He just does not recognize Tainer.

Tainer never let him live it down lmao
