you said the creature is an oc. i'm curious about it. what's it's name?

it's the corrupted beastly geist form of Salem Hexner. [@bool-prop 's oc] [pictured here, an old but a good pic]

Salem, being so addicted to the ectoplasm that comes from Peter's geist form plus his undying loyalty and special bond, starts to turn into something similar. However, he's recently had a werewolf bite that makes it more of a fucked up dog than what was originally designed, which resembled more of a serpent mixed with a lion.

So, its name? basically Geist Salem.

1. What was the original thought that led to the creation of this character?

I was in my FNAF phase at the time and I wanted an antagonist that looked "unassuming and ordinary".

2. How long was the process before the character reached its final version? (or a version that would be clearly recognizable as the character?)

It didn't take very long to start him off, but I can’t say a specific amount of time. I pretty much knew what I wanted out of Salem when I created him. So, when he was introduced, he hit the ground running.

3. What was the first thing you decided on, the character's name, appearance, personality or their role in the story?

Salem's role in the story. Right from the beginning, I knew his purpose. He needed to be a classy boss with a lot of subordinates, a family he's not happy to have, a few hobbies, and he needed to have a dark secret.

4. And reverse, which one of the four things did you struggle with the most?

Personality. He started as your typical rich, classy guy with all the cliche character tropes. I wanted to break away from that. It took a lot of work to fix it, being specific with his interests and developing his own opinions.

5. How did you choose their name and why? Was it simply based on vibes or is there any specific meaning behind the name? Are the reasons behind their name different in- and out of universe?

I knew I wanted his name to be Salem from the start. I just really liked it. His last name, Hexner, just popped into my head. I went with it and the rest is history.

Both Salem and Damien had quite a childhood. But, Salem's is a lot more complicated to him. To him, he didn't have a lot of time to just be a kid. He was always defending himself from various problems. But, he cherished being able to have parents and being a family.

Story Questionnaire

Thanks for the tag @justanothersimsblog ! I love talking about my stories and the characters in them, so this was fun!

1) How did you come up with such unique & fascinating characters?

It was literally a case of "I want a character that's [insert traits here]". Damien Butler was "I want a werewolf rockstar." He was blond at first, but always had Grey eyes. Then, he changed into having his dark brown, almost black hair.

For Salem Hexner, I wanted "a plain 9-5 businessman, living an unassuming life but having a horrible secret". Then, came "I want him to have heterochromia". Finally, "I want him to have freckles." I always wanted him to be named Salem, but "Hexner" just popped up in my head as his last name.

2) When you started writing your story, what did you take into consideration?

The characters' personalities and memories in-game and out of it. For example, where Damien’s fear of water came from and why he has the Aquaphobia trait ("Hydrophobia" is a rabies thing, EA).

3) How did you shape each character’s background/family?

Creating my oc's background went back to my "I want a character that's [insert traits here]" method. Family is different. In Damien's case, his family was created with the "Adoption" service in the game. His son in his older stories was a surprise.

Sometimes, the adopted child in question will have traits from one of the parents. I took one look at the kid and knew he was Damien's. That's how his son, Evan, came to be. As for Damien's father, mother, and brother, they came after Evan just to show he had them.

Salem's family was made in a more messed up way. They were just another part of the secret he was created with. Already dead. It wasn't until much later that his family appeared as living characters.

4) Do you plan everything before starting, or are you more spontaneous?

Both. I go in with a gist of what I want to happen and if something happens during the event, I usually include it.

5) Does reality inspire you, or do you rely more on your imagination?

Imagination, baby! I only take what I need from reality to make things (somewhat) sensible and the imagination takes the rest.

6) When did you KNOW you were going to make this story?

I knew when I retired Damien and Salem from their roles in FNAF.

7) What has shaped your story into being the way it is?

For Salem and Damien, it was years of doing their older stories. It was a lot of fun and it shaped who they are more than anything I could have planned. @zelterxc's oc, Peter, became an integral part of Salem’s life after their days in FNAF.

The rest is history.
