OC HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE 2023

Day 17: Death is a Mystery and Burial is a Secret

Aiden Calloway hadn't been a vampire for too long and yet, he had already created a bloodbath throughout the City which kept police officers and news outlets alike on their feet.

Joy Hargreeves knew that she was to blame for this. Had she not dabbled with dark magic to get their son back, then Aiden wouldn't be the way he is now. Still, she has a duty to stop him before more people die...as a former superhero or whatever.

But Aiden isn't making it easy on her and he's evaded both Rudolph and Valentino's efforts to find him and put him to sleep until further action could be taken.

Bodies continue to drop every day and Aiden continues to outmaneuver Joy and her siblings at every turn. It isn't until she corners him in the cemetery that Joy finally has to take action. If only it weren't so emotionally taxing to try and kill your ex-boyfriend.

Day 22: If Your OC Were Canon

So these are a few of many more edits I had already made for the story me and my friend are writing for The Umbrella Academy.

YES thank you sm. There's a lot of them (so if ur interested I'm currently reintroducing them in full detail if ur interest) so I will do a bit of a lightning round. They're all in the same story.

Joy Hargreeves. Can glamour herself into any person she wants. Was sent back in time by Five along with her siblings Jill and Jinx and returned a year later as a baby which is why she's 22. Aiden's eventual fiance. Mother to Cooper. Ballett dancer. Like Luther a lot but can't stand him.

Jill Hargreeves. Empath. Boxer. Pizza delivery girl. Lives with Diego in the boxing gym. Very blunt, seldom sweet.

Jinx Hargreeves. Pyrokineses. Socialy akward and clumsy as hell. In college to work with at risk youth. Loves fun prints and anything colorful. Very kind and trusting.

Aiden Calloway. Joy's boyfriend, then fiance. Father to Cooper. Eventual firefighter. Is turned into a vampire after a ritual to resurrect Cooper goes awry. Human embodiement of a golden retriever. Is from a rich household but lives in a van. Gives all of his allowance to charity.

Misty Ortiz. Crosses over from Riverdale. Succubus. Very good at hand-to-hand combat. Arrives in town with Benji and DJ.

Benji Monaghan. Hacker. Works for an underground organization. Sometimes helps the Hargreeves.

DJ Doiley. Djs on the weekends, is in college. Jinx's eventual boyfriend. Reeling from a past in a town of insanity.

Winter Lowery. One of the 43 who wasn't snatched up by Reginald. Cryokineses. Best friends with Jinx. Former stripper. Broke free from an abusive marriage. Works as a secretary alongside her siblings in her father's PI firm.

Rudolph Easton. Warlock. Helps Joy try to resurrect her son despite hesitations. Sells potions. Very much the patron saint of anyone supernatural. Foster father to Valentino.

Valentino DeJesus. Turns Aiden into a vampire because he knows his death hit Rudolph hard, only this makes Rudolph angrier. Is very much a neutral person, but often gets himself into trouble even if it's on accident.

Kyle Mori. DJ's half brother. The two only meet once he comes to the City. Film student. Best friends with Sam.

Sam Carter. Older bio brother of Jinx. Comes to the City to help Kyle with a project only to run into his brother, one he hadn't even known about.

Valentino. He was the first supernatural that Rudolph took in. He is his son, even if they're not blood related, he is his son. No matter how much he may screw up, he will always be. Their familial connection is unmatched and anyone who even dares touching Val, will probably not make it out alive.

I'm gonna pick Valentino DeJesus, and go in on his relationship with Rudolph Easton for a bit.

Valentino was turned into a vampire in the early 1900s, he had to leave his own family and friends behind. He was lonely, walking the streets of what used to be The City, when Rudolph found him wandering the streets.

He invited him to his home for a meal, and from then on a bond slowly started forming between them. Soon enough, Valentino lived in Rudolph's condo, and he was like his son.

Valentino was Rudolph's first supernatural runaway, and he never left his side. Rudolph protects Val with his entire being. Always has. He keeps his impulsiveness in check.

Rudolph can't have kids himself, but he is a great father figure regardless.

Oooo, okay, so I haven't written too much for my TUA story (shame on me!) BUT, that just means this is a perfect opportunity for me to come up with lines to use later. So here it goes (bear with me):

Joy Hargreeves: "Oh, Luther, when will you get it? Dad is not someone to look up to. He isn't someone to aspire to be. He was a monster. Plain and simple. And I'm glad he's dead."

Jill Hargreeves: "One time I sucked up so many emotions, I passed out for a couple of hours. I met God. I really did."

Jinx Hargreeves: "I want to make a difference. My dad was an awful person. He didn't deserve kids. I want to at least try to make sure other kids don't end up like us."

Aiden Calloway: "Joy and Cooper are the best things that have ever happened to me. Cooper is dead because of me, and I just almost killed Joy. I don't deserve them."

Misty Ortiz: "Yes, you do, Aiden. You are the kindest man I have ever met. Well, more like the fifth kindest, but that still counts. You're gonna make it through this. I believe in you, bud."

DJ Doiley: "I just want to forget about the past. Move on. I am finally free to do whatever I want. And I am going to utilize that freedom to it's fullest potential."

Rudolph Easton: "Oh, sweetheart. I have been here for centuries, and I will be here longer than you could imagine. It gets lonely, but I haven't given up hope. I refuse to."

Valentino DeJesus: "I am a one-hundred and eighteen year old man, trapped inside the body of a twenty year old boy. My whole family is dead. My friends are dead. Rudolph, you are all I have. And I can't bear to lose you as a friend."

Sam Carter: "I don't want to go through live knowing that I had a brother that I never contacted. I don't like wasted potential."

Kyle Mori: "Dad didn't want me. But he wanted you. Why? Am I not good enough? I try."

Hello! I'm @oneirataxia-girl but you can just call me Alvita and I have you on my bingo card! So I've popped around on your blog and I noticed that you have a ton of TUA ocs! That's amazing! Can you tell me a bit about some of them?

Hey hi! Nice to meet you Alvita, my name is Anna! I'm glad you are interested. I have already answered for most of them in this post, however, I have a couple left that I haven't gotten to discuss so let me do that here!

We have DJ Doiley (who is Dilton Doiley from Riverdale, but my version is related to two of my Riverdale OCs, long story lol). Anyway, after graduating High School, DJ skips town with his cousin Benji and his friend Misty. They end up in The City where DJ is still reeling from his past when he is introduced to Jinx Hargreeves through Benji and the operation he works for. The two start having feelings for each other which are complicated by the impending end of the world. He is a part-time DJ while also attending college. DJ is sweet and soft-spoken but also troubled by a past in a town corrupted with crime and murder. He loves nature, science, playing board games. He's gay but didn't admit this to himself till his senior year in High School.

There is also Valentino DeJesus who is Rudolph's apprentice/confidant/honorary son. He was turned into a vampire in the 1920s and shortly afterward found and taken in by Rudolph. Valentino is eager to please and always tries to help which often bites him in the ass whenever he screws up. Most of the time Rudolph can look past his mistakes, but when Valentino turns Aiden into a vampire to try and cheer Rudolph up after he accidentally almost killed him, Rudolph gets so mad at him he kicks him out and only lets him back in when they realize the world is ending and they need to find a way to stop it. Valentino is kind and welcoming but also a bit of a troublemaker because he never truly thinks anything through.

Next, we have Sam Carter and Kyle Mori, who are Jinx Hargreeves and DJ Doiley's biological brother and half-brother respectively. Neither of them knew of the existence of their brothers until the almost end of the world and they travel to The City to get to know them. They also knew Misty's older sister Rain from their time at boarding school. Sam was born just over a year before Jinx and his mom never told him about the brother she gave away for adoption. He is a film student and is considering moving from NYC to The City to work with his old friend Kyle. Kyle was born to Daryl Doiley and an affair he had a couple of years before DJ was born and given up for adoption. He was raised in NYC but moved to The City in his early twenties to work on movie sets.

These are some of the ones I have as well. Valentino, Sam, and Kyle aren't totally developed but hopefully, I will get back into it soon!

OC TROPE CHALLENGE

Day 7.5: Pick Any Trope That Wasn’t Listed! - Odd Friendship aka a Human Disaster Goofball and a former Pageant Queen turned Gang Member turned Succubus become friends somehow and nobody expected it.

When Misty first arrived at the Hargreeves house after Reginald Hargreeve’s funeral she hadn’t expected a twenty-something-year-old dude to pull up in the driveaway and trip out of his van. 

She hadn’t expected to befriend that mess of a human being. Not on a more intense level than an allyship. But here they were. Aiden freshly turned into a vampire, almost having killed Joy. He waned to run. She needed to stop him. If Aiden ran now, he’d never come back. He’d never forgive himself. And he and Joy would never mend their relationship. Misty had known Aiden for four years now and he deserved more than being stuck in darkness for the rest of his life.

“This is my fault,” Aiden said, his voice barely audible.

Misty pulled Aiden into a hug. “No, it’s not. You don’t have this under control and we can work on that.”

Aiden pulled away from her. “How? Do you know of any vampires in town? Because I don’t. I’m alone in this. I just almost killed Joy! I ruined her life.”

“That is not true!” Misty insisted. Some people in the hallway turned to them and Misty pulled him into a more quiet corner, a sigh escaping her lips. “Look, I hate to say this, but this is just as much Joy’s fault as it is yours. She played with fire and now she got burned. I like her, she’s a great person, but she brought this on herself.”

Aiden shook his head. “Your just saying that because we’re friends. And because you want to stop me from taking off.”

“Maybe. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t any truth to what I say. I know you love Joy, and I love that you do, but she got you into this mess. And you didn’t attack her for no reason. You have resentment. But that still doesn’t mean that you should run.”

“Then what do you want me to do?”

Misty threw her hands up. “You’ve been pining for this girl for five years and counting. Then you had her. And you had your baby. And then it all slipped out of your fingers. I don’t think you’ve actually taken a break and a day for yourself in forever.”

She took his hand and the started walking out of the hospital. “What I want you to do, is go off the grid for a couple of days. Maybe even weeks. I want you to take some time for yourself. To figure your new life out. And when you have some more control you can come back and work out your issues with Joy. Alright?”

Aiden nodded. “But I still don’t know who to ask about this stuff.”

“I think I do,” Misty told him. His look urged her to go on. “Rudolph Easton. His protegé Valentino is a vampire. He can even walk in the sun. They’re bound to know something. I heard Rudolph likes to take in supernaturals who don’t know where to go.”

“Okay,” he nodded again. “Okay, yeah you’re right. This is gonna be good for me. And Jill and Jinx will keep an eye on Joy. It’s going to be fine.”

“I know it will be,” Misty smiled at him.

Aiden patted Misty’s arms. “Thank you for being my friend. I don’t really have any others.”

Misty nodded at him. “Of course.”

OC Halloween Challenge

Day 31: Make Up A Halloween Episode For A Fandom That Doesn't Have One

A rather tragic Halloween tale for the Umbrella Academy kids...

Joy Hargreeves and Aiden Calloway lost their son Cooper a few years before the dooming Apocalypse. Back then, it broke them apart. Now that Joy is in tune with her powers, Aiden is fully comitted to his vampirism and the Apocalypse is tamed the two get engaged and seem genuinely happy.

The only thing missing was Coop. Joy had previously put down her efforts to resurrect her son with the help of the Warlock Rudolph Easton to help her siblings save the planet and because her efforts are what turned Aiden into a vampire.

But now she wants to pick up where she left of. Aiden is reluctant but eventually agrees. Rudolph manages to bring Coop back but warns the couple that it will only be for Halloween night. By midnight November 1st, Coop would have to go back.

At first, everything is fine. Coop brings home a couple of cute animals and the young family gets to spend the evening together. But then, strange things begin to happen. Rudolph warns them that the longer the gate stays open, the more dangers could come out.

Joy, Aiden and her siblings are forced to fight the foes with the help of Rudolph, his friend Valentino and their friend Misty. By the end of the night all evil is where it's supposed to be and Joy and Aiden are forced to say goodbye to Coop for good as the family watches.

The Three J’s resented Five and would grow to hate him even more after he accidentally sent them back in time. Joy spent years stuck in the ‘60s until she was whisked back into her time, two years after Jinx and Jill. Suddenly, Joy is the baby of the family, her older siblings close to moving out of the house. Joy spent her days trying to perfect her power and secretly taking up dancing. Her adoptive mother Grace and the family’s butler Pogo loved to watch her do little routines. Joy grew to resent her father much like her siblings. After their brother Ben dies, the family is in shambles. All of her siblings move out or run away from home, leaving Joy behind to pick up the pieces. She meets local boy Aiden Calloway and the two start a relationship. That would eventually lead to her getting pregnant. Reginald tries to take her son from to conduct further experiments and find out whether or not he also has powers. Joy nips that in the bud and runs away from home at last. She lives with Aiden until their son dies in a tragic accident. Joy pulls away from Aiden, Jill and Jinx and decides that she won’t accept her sons death. She gets in touch with local warlock Rudolph Easton in hopes of finding a way to get her son back. Then, her father dies and Joy goes back for the funeral. Already enough of a bad day, suddenly her brother Five comes back from the future with troubling news.

Slight Summary: Jill was another one of the 43 miracle babies born in 1989. She was dubbed Number 9 by her adoptive father Reginald Hargreeves. Jill hated her father with a passion. In fact, she hated most of her family except for Jinx, Ben, Joy and Diego. She also had a soft side for Grace and Pogo. Jill was a rather blunt person. Her powers were mostly considered useless, so she was relegated to being Five’s lab rat. When he sent her back in time, she ended up spending a few years in the ‘50s all by herself at age twelve. She came back to the real world a year after Jinx. Both of them had returned as infants. Joy joined them a year later. Luckily, Reginald managed to speed up the Three J’s aging process, putting her at only seven years younger than her older siblings. She hated growing up as a Superhero, so she was more than glad to run away from home and start her own life. Unfortunately, College did not work out as she had hoped, so instead she took up a job delivering pizza and moved in with Diego in the back of the boxing studio. When she gets news of her fathers death, Jill can’t help but feel relieved. After the things she did to her and her siblings, especially Joy, she can’t bring herself to feel saddened. She opts out of going to the funeral but Jinx drags her along anyways. At the funeral, Five appears back at the house and brings catastrophical news with him.

Slight Summary: Jinx was another one of the 43 miracle babies born in 1989. He was dubbed Number 8 by his adoptive father Reginald Hargreeves. As a child, Jinx’s powers were severly underdeveloped. Instead of helping him get control of his powers, Reginald shunned his son and let Five conduct experiments on him. Five accidentally sends Jinx to the ‘70s. Alone and afraid, Jinx had to learn how to survive on his own rather quick. He is the first to be sent back to his time and the first to be brought up closer to his by now older siblings’ age. Growing up, Ben and Jill were Jinx’s best friends. When Ben dies, Jinx has enough and flees from home. He goes to College, deciding that instead of trying to be the kind of Superhero that fights bad guys for his father, he wants to be another kind of Superhero. He studies to become a social worker and keeps steady contact with Jill. When he hears of his fathers passing, he isn’t saddened though he still goes to the funeral to pay his respects. But after going back home and hearing the news his brother Five springs on the family, he’d wish he’d have stayed away.

Slight Summary: Aiden was born in The City. He has two loving and rich parents and an older sister. He grew up to become a quirky and tech-loving teen. While working as videoprapher for a party, he meets Joy Hargreeves. The two fall in love and soon enough Joy is pregnant. Aiden is overjoyed with the news and gladly houses Joy and their son Cooper after she escaped her home. When Cooper dies in an accident, Joy pulls away from Aiden. To escpae the situation and somehow come to terms with his son’s passing, Aiden buys a van and travels across America, giving Joy the space she needed. He comes home after finding out from Klaus that Joy is willing to ruin her life in order to bring their son back from the dead. Suddenly caught in the crossfire, Aiden dies. Joy is heartbroken and begs Rudolph to somehow reverse the damage. Rudolph refuses her, feeling like he had already caused enough damage. But his assistant Valentino has a plan. Aiden is turned into a Vampire and must now learn to deal with his new life.

Slight Summary: Rudolph was born in the 1700′s to his Warlock mother and father. Both of them were reverred in their field. They were killed in the 1920′s, leavin Rudolph to take up the mantle. He eventually recruited his best friend Valentino to be his assistant. Rudolph is an all-around gentle soul and offers his magical services to everyone who needed it. He innitially turned Joy away, too afraid to dabble with any more ressurrections. Though, she eventually won him over and he attempted a ritual. It backfired and instead Joy’s boyfriend Aiden dies. Rudolph is sent into a tailspin. He retreats back into his condo and refuses Joy’s offer to try and bring Aiden back, horrified with what he had done. Upon learning that Valentino had gone behind his back and brought Aiden to a Vampire, the two have a fall-out. They mend their relationship as they try to look for a way to stop Vanya Hargreeves from destroying the planet.

Slight Summary: Winter was another one of the 43 miracle babies. Though, unlike the ten heroes of our story, Reginald Hargreeves never got his hands on her. She grew up with her loving parents and two siblings. Jane and Martin Lowery didn’t plan on having Winter but they accepted her as their miracle nonetheless. Winter grew up trying to suppress her powers but eventually she couldn’t do it anymore. Martin called Reginald to see if he could help but when Reginald wanted to buy Winter rather than help her, he threw him out and never contacted him again. Winter wasn’t very booksmart and didn’t make it into College. But she didn’t want to live at home and bother her parents anymore either. So after many attempts at finding a job, she turned to a stripper locale far from her parents home. She took on the stage name Lacy Lovelace and did her thing for a while. Through her job, she met her future husband Jeffrey. Winter didn’t want her parents to know what she did for a living, so instead she called herself Heather Smith and eloped with Jeffrey, never telling her parents about it. While not physically abusive, Jeffrey was emotionally and mentally abusive. In the end, Jinx would convice Winter to leave him. She returned home, head down low. Her father offered her a job at his P.I. firm, where he worked with Winter’s older sister, Brittany and her younger brother, Elliott. She starts working there as a secretary.

Rain would only be with the boys for a year but they never forgot her. Sam gets into film and moves away from The City to go to film school. At age 31, he returns home to work on a project with Kyle. There, he finally meets his brother Jinx.
