Modern AU Neheveral/Bull 👁 for the wip thing
So this one's about Neheveral joining a dating site and that's how he meets Bull. There's dates. There's kids soccer games. There's a protective ex-husband-current-friend who just doesn't want to see Neheveral get hurt again.
This is also another one where I didn't get past the beginning but here's what I have of it:
He missed waking to someone beside him, and having someone to come home to. He knew most people met on dating sites these days, but he'd never used one before. And after his last relationship...
Would it be weird to call Aronhalaan for help? It would, wouldn't it?
And here's another excerpt I like:
Neheveral paused on one of the profiles.
The Iron Bull, 37.
Extrovert. Axe thrower. Professional people person. Looking for a ride?
He was a qunari man, with grey skin and large horns that extended out the sides of his head. He had an eyepatch, too. Strange. Out of curiousity, he swiped through the photos. His first image was him in a pink Hawaiian shirt at some bar he didn't recognize. The next was him at the gym, shirtless, showing off a "dad bod," as Aronhalaan described it. He had a lot of tattoos, he noted.

Figured I’d finally expand on Neheveral’s past a bit so I drew him with his daughter Adahlier and ex-husband/current friend Aronhalaan. Also, backstory rambling under the cut!
Aronhalaan was the clan’s officiant, leading the funeral rituals whenever a clan member died, while Neheveral was a crafter, making weapons and armor. Living in the same clan, they’d known each other their whole life, but they didn’t get together until Neheveral and Aronhalaan were 20 and 21 respectively. They married a year later, and Adahlier was born when Neheveral was 23.
Neheveral was incredibly dysphoric throughout the pregnancy, but didn’t realize he was trans until about halfway through. He came out when Adahlier was 7 months old, and he and Aronhalaan parted (they parted on good terms, Aronhalaan was just straight). They still continued to raise Adahlier together, and still cared for each other, even if it was no longer romantic.
Aronhalaan eventually remarried to Eldysia, the clan’s healer. Neheveral ended up in an abusive relationship with Fen'evune, a hunter that transferred from another clan. He was pretty controlling, and didn’t want him to transition, and Aronhalaan tried to convince Neheveral to separate from him but he felt like he couldn’t. Luckily Fen'evune died after getting attacked by a bear so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ thanks Dirthamen. Neheveral stays single until Inquisition after that, taking time to heal from all of it. He also got top surgery as a treat to himself.
Adahlier is 8 during Inquisition. She wasn’t supposed to come with Neheveral when he left for the Conclave but she sneaked on the boat from Wycome with him and by the time he realized it was too late to go back. Her magic surfaces when she’s just shy of 10, and after Trespasser she stays with the clan full-time, with Neheveral visiting with the Chargers every few months. When she comes of age, she takes Ghilan’nain’s vallaslin.

Pre-relationship 2, Love 7, Domestic 6, 7, 10, for Atlas/Fenris and/or Neheveral/Bull (or anyone else you'd like)?
Thanks for the ask!! I'm gonna do both of them :)
PRE-RELATIONSHIP / 2. What was their first impression of each other?
Atlas: Their first impression of Fenris was half fear half fascination. Like, this guy just ripped someone's heart out of their chest?? How did he do that?? They thought it was magic at first, until Fenris expressed his distrust of mages after raiding Danarius' mansion.
Fenris: He didn't trust Atlas at first, beyond them doing their job and helping him find Danarius. But they didn't act like the Magisters back home. They were willing to help an escaped slave, for one, so he was willing to give them a chance.
Neheveral: He had met qunari before, but Bull was larger than most qunari and it took him back a bit. Bull was so calm and collected it kinda scared him. He wasn't too keen on the spy part but he welcomed him eagerly.
Iron Bull: In Ben-Hassrath terms? Powerful, adept in bows and blades, but a bit too quick to trust. As a person? He was a bit awkward with his words but he had a good heart. He liked him.
LOVE / 7. What are their favorite things to do together?
Atlas/Fenris: Cooking, baking, or anything that involves making things together. It gives them an excuse to talk about their days while also being (somewhat) productive. Usually it leads to them either taking way longer than they need to or making too much stuff for the both of them.
Neheveral/Bull: Besides hunting dragons between mercenary jobs and visiting Adahlier, its just being able to relax together. Forest, open fields, tavern room, oceanside, doesn't matter. Krem can handle the chargers while they rest.
DOMESTIC LIFE / 6. Who worries the most?
Atlas/Fenris: Fenris worries the most. Atlas has a habit of putting themselves in stupid and dangerous situations. He wishes they were better at healing magic.
Neheveral/Bull: Neheveral, but not much more than Bull does. They both have injuries that put strain on their bodies, and they both push themselves too much.
DOMESTIC LIFE / 7. Who kills the bugs in the house?
Atlas/Fenris: Atlas will either kill the bug or ask Fenris to kill it if its too big. Fenris only kills the bugs if they're deadly in any way, otherwise they go outside.
Neheveral/Bull: Bull will kill the bugs, and Neheveral will get mad at him for killing it instead of taking it outside.
DOMESTIC LIFE / 10. Who’s the better cook?
Atlas/Fenris: Atlas. They know a lot of recipies that their mom taught them and they use them a lot when cooking for friends, or just anyone in particular. Fenris knows a few too, he's just not as experienced.
Neheveral/Bull: They're both decent to good at cooking, particularly in making food while on the road or when there's not much to work with. Neither is better than the other.

5, 16, 19, 26, 41 for Wyam and Neheveral?
Thank you for the ask!!
(prompts here)
5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Wyam: A dagger, some loose change, lockpicks, and a few vials of poison.
Neheveral: A dalish trinket, a handful of nuts, and a cool rock he found on a path.
16. Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?
Wyam: Success. You need to be successful to be happy, especially as an elf among humans.
Neheveral: Happiness. He doesn't care about being successful, he just wants to live a good life.
19. What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
Wyam: He absolutely hates being physically intimate, partially because of dysphoria. It used to be so bad he couldn't have sex, but he can handle it sometimes now. Most of the time he'll keep his shirt on, so it's rare to get him fully nude. It did mess up a relationship he had when he was a teenager, because the other wanted to go further than he was comfortable with.
Neheveral: He's insecure as fuck in basically everything (thanks Fen'evune /s). Even though its been a few years since he died, he still struggles with it. I can't say it's destroyed any relationships for him since he doesn't get with anybody until Inquisition, and Bull is way too good at dealing with his insecurities. They work through his shit together.
26. How does your character behave around children?
Wyam: Think "irresponsible uncle." He'll let you practice sword fighting with actual swords. If you ask him to do a dangerous trick for you he probably will. He'll teach you how to pickpocket shems and get away with it. Good at entertaining kids, just don't leave him unsupervised with them.
Neheveral: Like a parent. He'll watch over you, make sure you don't do anything stupid, hold water and snacks for you if you need them. That doesn't mean he's not fun to be around, however. He likes playing those imaginary games with them the most, like pretending to be an animal that the kids have to "kill".
41. Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
Wyam: He feels as though he has to earn things first, but "earning it" meaning "working for it" in his mind. Living in the Alienage meant either working your ass off for things you wanted or stealing them, so there wasn't a lot of getting things because you deserved them.
Neheveral: He also feels like he has to earn things, but "earning it" meaning "proving your worth" in his mind (thanks again Fen'evune /s). He's getting better at understanding that he deserves a lot of things and doesn't need to earn them, but he still has bad days with it.

For the protag ask maybe 5, 7, 10 and 20? 👀👀
thank you for the ask!!
5. Is your inquisitor jealous that both the warden and Hawke have a mabari hound?
Not really. Neheveral's never been interested in mabari. He would, however, like a halla.
7. Are all your protagonists the same combat class? And what specializations did they take?
Nope! Wyam's a dual-wield rogue, and he specialized as a Duelist, Shadow, and Reaver. (I know rogues can't technically be reavers but I love reavers)
Atlas is a mage, and they specialized as a Force Mage.
Neheveral's an archer rogue, and he specialized as an Assassin.
10. Do your protagonists share the same opinions on the Chantry?
They all dislike the Chantry but Neheveral just straight up hates it.
Wyam and Atlas are a bit conflicted about it. They don't like the Chantry or because the Chantry doesn't like elves or mages, but they were both raised under it so it's that kind of mess. Like they believe in Andraste and the Maker but that's about it.
20. Do they share any of the same hobbies?
None of them really share any hobbies. Wyam gained an affinity for collecting swords and daggers after Origins.
Atlas embroiders when they get bored. You can always tell when they had a lot of spare time when you see them with new embroidery on their clothes.
Neheveral carves in his spare time. Most of it is handheld trinkets but once or twice he's done a big one.

for the protag ask, maybe 1, 2, 3, 14, 17 and 27? :3
aaaaa thank you for the ask!!
1. What would your Warden generally think of your Hawke and your inquisitor?
Wyam viewed Atlas as "Carver's annoying older sibling" based entirely on the things Carver has said about them. However they do meet briefly in Inquisition and Wyam is suprised by how much chiller they are. Overall he thinks they're alright.
With Neheveral they meet when he visits as the Arl of Amaranthine with Bann Shianni. They get along really well considering they're both elves in positions of power. He likes him.
2. What would your Hawke generally think of your warden and your Inquisitor?
Atlas respects Wyam, as Carver writes highly of him when he mentions him in letters home. Meeting him in person didn't really change this.
Atlas' first thoughts on Neheveral is "oh he is so young." Even though they're not that far apart in age, Atlas can't help but think how he's too much like how they were when they first became Champion; overwhelmed and having no idea what they're doing.
3. What would your Inquisitor generally think of your warden and your Hawke?
Neheveral was intimidated by Wyam at first, only partially because Wyam is intimidating in general. He really looked up to the Hero of Ferelden, and after some advice from him Neheveral came to respect him a lot. He's still a bit intimidated though.
Neheveral was suprised by Atlas. He only knew of them through the Tale of the Champion, and had a moment where he was like "oh they're just a person." They bond over their imposter syndrome.
14. If they’d been in each other’s places would they have made the same or different choices? And who would they have romanced, if anyone?
I think they all would make similar changes so I'm just gonna say what they would've done differently.
Wyam in DA2 wouldn't let Isabela keep the Tome of Koslun, and probably would've fucked off and joined the Qun instead of becoming the Champion. He probably wouldn't romance anyone.
Wyam in Inquisition would kill Celene and put Briala on the throne, preserve the Inquisition under Divine Victoria, and vow to stop Solas. He would romance Iron Bull.
Atlas in Origins would put Alistair and Anora on the throne together. They would probably romanced Morrigan and go through the Eluvian with her.
Atlas in Inquisition would let Morrigan drink from the Well of Sorrows and vow to stop Solas. They would romance Dorian.
Neheveral in Origins would go to the Circle to save Connor instead of doing the blood magic ritual, would send Marjolaine away instead of killing her, and would do the Ultimate Sacrifice. He wouldn't romance anyone, he's still mourning Tamlen's disappearance/death through majority of the Blight.
Neheveral in DA2 would leave their sibling behind instead of taking them to the Deep Roads, and would spare Anders. He would also romance Anders.
17. If Origins and Inquisition had the 3 personalities (Diplomatic, Sarcastic, Aggressive) which would your warden and inquisitor have predominately been? And what one did your Hawke have?
Oh Wyam is absolutely aggressive I don't even have to think about it.
Atlas is half-sarcastic half-diplomatic but was aggressive one (1) time when they found out Fenris got captured by the blood mages in Best Served Cold.
Neheveral would be primarily diplomatic with a tiny bit of sarcastic. He is the epitome of "you could pour soup in my lap and I'd probably apologize to you."
27. What would their fears on the graves in the fade during Here Lies The Abyss be?
Wyam: Succumbing. By the time Inquisition's rolling around he's starting to get his actual calling, and he's scared of losing himself and turning on the ones he loves.
Atlas: Failure. They're terrified of failing, and feeling like they failed others.
Neheveral: Loss. He's lost a lot of people he cared for in his life, both in death and from leaving, and he's always scared to get close in case he loses them again.

2, 6, 19, 25 for Atlas and Neheveral?
Can they take care of a plant? What about a pet? What about a child?
Atlas' was answered here!
Neheveral: He can take care of plants pretty easily, and children even more so, considering he has a daughter already. People say he's good with pets but he gets too nervous to actually feel like he can, but he feels better about it when someone's helping him.
Who will they take advice from, no matter what it is? Who won’t they take advice from, no matter what it is?
Atlas: They would always take advice from Merrill, they trust her judgement on a lot of things. They would never take advice from Aveline.
Neheveral: He would always take advice from Aronhalaan, his ex husband. They're on good terms and he's always been helpful and sincere with him. He would never take advice from Cassandra or Cullen. Some shems have weird ideas on things, and they're some of them.
Do they study before tests? Practice before job interviews?
Atlas: Nope. They're the kind of person to go into something with zero prep and absolutely nail it, to the point it pisses other people off.
Neheveral: Oh absolutely. He gets so nervous before important things, he has to prepare or he's convinced he won't do well.
Safety or possibility?
Atlas' was answered here!
Neheveral: Safety. He's too old for this shit. He just wants to take care of his daughter and give her a good life that's all he wants.

14 for Neheveral!
14. your OC talking about your favorite quest
“...At least we got to meet another clan out there. The shems infighting had left them in need of help, and they were more than happy to meet another of their kind. I helped them gather supplies and cleaned Var Bellanaris of demons. One of theirs— Loranil, I believe— wished to join us, though Keeper Hawen was reluctant to let him go. He went to one of our camps to the north.
I wish I could have stayed there longer lethallin, but our Seeker insisted we headed to Fort Revasan to speak with the Chevaliers. I can’t wait to no longer have to meddle with shems. They're an awfully tiring bunch.
Dareth shiral,
Neheveral
P.S.: They also had Hanal’ghilan out there! It was amazing!”

1,28,54 please!
Thank you so much!!
1. How did you get into Dragon Age?
I had gotten into it from playing the Dragon Age RPG, which is probably the most unusual introduction to the series. A few months later I bought Inquisition and loved it, so I bought Origins and 2 not long after finishing it.
28. Inquisitor’s feelings on being the Herald of Andraste?
My Lavellan, Neheveral, is pretty neutral on her, given her work with Shartan and fighting the Tevinter Imperium and whatnot. It's mainly her (human) followers that piss him off.
My Adaar, Anaan, is also pretty neutral about her. He doesn't get the whole fire thing though. Why would you honor her by displaying her with the thing that killed her?
My Trevelyan, Casey, is very religious. They're the "goes to the Chantry every Sunday to pray" kind of person. So they think very highly of her.
54. Fluffiest headcanon ever?
Zevran has a very ridiculous skin care routine that he does before bed, and it takes over an hour. Wyam likes to watch him while he does it and gossip about stuff happening among the Wardens and the nobility.

for the ask meme, how about 18 19 and 28?
thank you for the ask!!
18. What is the biggest similarity between your protagonists?
They all start off as outsiders. Wyam is the only elf among the Warden recruits, Atlas is a Ferelden refugee in a Marcher city, and Neheveral is a Dalish elf in a sea of shems.
19. What is the biggest difference between your protagonists?
How they respond to conflict. Atlas will joke their way out of their problems while Neheveral tries to calm the situation, but Wyam? He'll just start stabbing.
28. What is their favourite location within their own game and what would be their favourite in each others?
Wyam's favorite location is the Denerim Alienage. It's his home, and always will be. In DA2 it would be the Kirkwall Alienage and in Inquisition it would be the Crossroads in the Hinterlands.
Atlas' favorite location is the Hanged Man. They want to have a good time and what better way to do that than to get drunk with their friends? In Origins it would be Lothering (for obvious reasons) and in Inquisition it would be the Storm Coast.
Neheveral's favorite location is a tie between the Emerald Graves and the Exalted Plains. There's so much elven history in the Emerald Graves but he loves meeting with the clan in the Exalted Plains, both make him homesick though. In Origins it would be the Brecilian Forest and in DA2 it would be Sundermount.

Some of my Dragon Age kids grown up, since DA4 is speculated to be in 9:52 now!
Kieran is 21 doing... something. I have a feeling he'll show up in DA4 so I don't want to speculate too much, but since Fergus never remarries he is up for consideration as the next Teyrn of Highever.
Julius is also 21, and likely doing mercenary work or working with the Kirkwall Guard. He's also rumored to be in line for Viscount, with how Varric dotes over him like he's his own son.
Adahlier is 20, and the First of Clan Lavellan. She gets her vallaslin in dedication to Dirthamen.
