Aaaa, I’m happy you asked!! I love getting asks about the kiddos 😭!!

Eisuke: She’s a bit intimidated by him since he’s pretty strict with all the kids. Still, she knows he means well and lately he’s been trying (albeit awkwardly) to be a more open parent. She’s not at the point where she’s willing to have heart-to-heart talks with him, but she’s getting there. Also, he’s a bit overprotective of her since she reminds him of MC.

MC: She’s very close with MC and they’re 100% open with each other :’) Naoko feels like she can tell MC anything since MC never judges and always listens. MC feels a little bad that Naoko pushes herself too hard for the family’s sake, so she always tries to tell her to take it easy.

Eito: She respects Eito a lot since he’s the eldest and the heir to the Ichinomiya group, but she also wishes he could be less hard on himself. He always tries to be the responsible one and bear the mental burden in the family, and she feels guilty that he puts himself in that position all the time. She’s grateful that he’s a good brother (if not a bit overprotective), but she also hopes he can learn to rely on her, too.

Kazuma: She bickers a lot with her twin and they seem like they don’t get along because they always yell at each other, but they’re the closest siblings in the family. Even though their personalities are practically opposite (Naoko is by-the-book and Kazuma plays dirty), they’re always in-sync and they usually know what the other is thinking. Kazuma’s the first person she usually talks to whenever she has a problem and vice-versa. They trust each other the most. Also, they used to pretend they could read each other’s minds to mess with others lol.

Eiki: She loves Eiki and dotes on him all the time. If MC or Eito isn’t taking care of Eiki, then it’s usually Naoko who plays with him. She feels protective of him and wants to make sure the burden of being an Ichinomiya doesn’t take a toll on him like it did with her and her older brothers, so she encourages him to do what his heart tells him to do instead of following the family footsteps.

Just for fun AU: The Ichinomiya Siblings

So I know KBTBB already has canon kids for Eisuke, but lmao I’m really self-indulgent so I combined my fankids and the canon kids for this AU  

If the Ichinomiya family had a TV show, I’d love it if it focused on the kids!! Even better if the Ichinomiya family was a crime family like in those mafia shows hhh

Here are the kiddos:

Eito Ichinomiya (20):

Facts:

He’s the oldest Ichinomiya sibling and next in line to inherit the Ichinomiya conglomerate. He shadows Eisuke during work and acts as right-hand man sometimes

He matured a lot from his younger days and is the most serious and levelheaded one among the siblings. He usually stops the twins from bickering with each other and basically tries to keep it all together

He does have moments when he gets petty, but it happens rarely compared to when he was a child (lmao @ the Becoming a Perfect Family Substory)

He butts heads with Eisuke about work all the time, but he respects his dad’s opinion when it comes to the business

Sadly, Eisuke wasn’t all that affectionate with Eito in his childhood, so he views Eisuke as a boss more than a dad

Very, very overprotective of his family, especially his mother and younger siblings. Do not hurt his family or else

Has done shady things in the name of his family. He doesn’t like talking about it and tries to hide it from them

He has a soft spot for his youngest brother and dotes on him all the time

He looks and acts exactly like Eisuke and he hates it lmao

Is stressed all the time and doesn’t smile that much unless he’s around his family

Still prefers black coffee to prove a point to his dad

Kazuma Ichinomiya (19):

Facts:

He’s Naoko’s older twin brother and the second oldest son in the family.

He inherited his dad’s overbearing and self-assured side, but he also inherited MC’s thoughtful and attentive side

Basically, he’s a Mom Friend

Among the siblings, he’s usually the one who helps MC with the housework the most because he’s the best at it (especially with cooking)

He’s secretly happy that he’s not the oldest son because he sees how heavy the burden is on Eito

Somewhat resents Eisuke for not being the best father to him and his siblings. He thinks MC should’ve married someone else lmao

Bickers all the time with Naoko but would also throw hands for his twin

Really good at charming his way out of sticky situations with the trademark Ichinomiya Business Smile

Wants to work in the culinary business one day, but he knows Eisuke won’t approve of it, so he keeps quiet about it and continues to study Economics and Finance in college

Prefers super sweet food like his dad and even drinks his coffee like him

He looks confident, but in reality he’s just really good at Faking It and Bluffing His Way Out

Naoko Ichinomiya (19):

Facts:

She’s Kazuma’s younger twin sister and the only daughter in the family 

She’s the more introverted and serious twin, and she’s less likely to get into a fight than Kazuma is. Serves as damage control when her older brothers get into shady shit

Really insecure about her position in the family and thinks that she isn’t as smart or as talented as her brothers. Wants them to rely on her more

Works really, really hard to compensate for her self-perceived lack of talent 

For the most part, she tries to give off a dignified, classy air, but she’s actually really into “nerdy” hobbies like video games and anime. Hides her hobbies from her family, but Kazuma knows about it and teases her

Is somewhat afraid of Eisuke and views him as an authority figure rather than a father, much to his dismay 

Looks up to MC as a role model and wants to be just like her one day

Bickers with Kazuma all the time but would also throw hands for him

Her father and brothers are a bit overprotective of her, so she has to date in secret so they won’t blow a gasket

Plays with her youngest brother all the time 

Prefers spicy food and black coffee, much to her twin’s dismay

Eiki Ichinomiya (10):

Facts:

He’s the youngest Ichinomiya child in the family, and because of that everyone likes to dote on him (in this AU, he’s the baby MC was pregnant with in the Becoming a Perfect Family substory)

He’s the closest to MC in personality. He’s affectionate, sweet, and extremely thoughtful to everyone he meets, so much so that people wonder if he’s actually Eisuke’s son lmao

When Eiki was born, Eisuke sorta realized how much he’d neglected his other children emotionally, so he tries to make up for it by being more affectionate to Eiki

Really empathetic and can sense the feelings of those around him. He’s happy when his family’s happy, and he becomes sad when he senses discord 

Everyone tries to hide the auctions and all the shady shit from him because they don’t want to taint his innocence

Anyone who hurts him won’t see the light of day ever again

Eito is especially protective of him because he wants to give Eiki the childhood he never had

Does not have a single shred of malice or hatred in him at all and is the light of the family. His smile is said to be just as healing as MC’s 

He still doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up, and he feels a bit intimidated at how his older siblings are dedicated to the Ichinomiya Group

Everyone always lets him win during Family Game Night because making Eiki cry is equivalent to a crime in the family

His favorite food in the world is MC’s curry :’)

Soryu thinks it’s endearing to see his son panic because he remembers he was just as nervous about it when he was still dating

He goes the serious route and makes sure Tatsuya takes responsibility for EVERYTHING

Junya pretends nothing’s going on, but Shuichi knows something’s up because Junya keeps bumping into furniture and fidgeting with the hem of his shirt

At first, Shuichi doesn’t mind it, but the fidgeting drives him crazy after a while

Junya coughs it up eventually

“there’s someone i like, but i don’t know what i should do about it”

Shu’s glasses start to glint

“ok, first you have to make sure they’re good enough for you. how are their grades? their future prospects? can they recite pi backwards?”

One day, Ema walks up to him and tells him she might be sick

Hikaru thought it was weird that his normally cheeky son was oddly sullen for once, just poking at his burger instead of gulping it down

He tries to ~casually~ prod

“what, so did someone finally catch your eye or something?”

And Hayato just flinches and stares right at Hikaru’s eyes

damn this gonna be awkward as hell....

Hikaru honestly has no idea what to tell his son bec he himself ain’t really good at stuff like this

In the end, he just tells Hayato not to be an asshole and things should go smoothly from there

Already planned out an itinerary for the child’s activities that day, down to meal time and bath time

“You need to be out in the sun for at least 10 minutes to get Vitamin D!”

A big worrywart that won’t let the child watch anything more than PG-13

Covers the kid’s eyes during kissing scenes

Cooks the kid’s meals himself. He makes sure they’re nutritious and delicious

If he had time, he’d childproof everything in the house

Kinda awkward when trying to play with them, but he eventually settles with playing a board game with them

Naoko:

She’s nervous af so tries to google “how to take care of kids”

Orders pizza (with no pineapples lmao) for them because she has no idea what kids like to eat

It’s super quiet and awkward for the first few hours

Naoko offers to study/help the kid with their homework

Obviously, the kid doesn’t want to do anything related to school

The kid suggests playing make-believe instead

And Naoko’s suddenly excited because it’s been a while since she played like that

She remembers how it’s like to be a kid again and she has fun for the first time in a while

Tatsuya:

The child would cower at the sight of Tatsuya’s scary face

Poor Tatsuya would be secretly crushed by that

He just wants to get along with the kid :(((

He’d try to play with them, but they’d be scared at first

Until Tatsuya offers to play horsey

The kid reluctantly agrees at first, but then they have fun using him as a horse, pulling his hair, messing around, etc.

He’s happy they're getting along, but ouch his hair :((

When Soryu gets home, Tatsuya looks tired af and wants to pass out

Setsuna:

Ohohoho kids!!!!

Setsuna’s excited because she loves kids!!

She’s practically a kid herself tbh

The kid would be so enamored and impressed with Setsuna’s magic tricks

“How did you make that entire chair disappear??” “Practice!”

Setsuna can’t cook, so she begs Kazuma to bring some food from their house lmao

She even teaches them how to play card games (and how to cheat lmao)

By the end of the day, the kid becomes a poker expert

Yuu:

The first thing he does is take them to a dog park

Because puppies are always the best!!

The kid has fun playing with the puppies, and so does Yuu (who takes selfies the whole time)

After that, they buy some ice cream at a kiosk nearby

On the way home, Yuu runs into some fans and he’s lowkey afraid they might cause some trouble, but the fans end up gushing over the kid instead

“Oooooh!! Is he your little brother?” “Oh, uh he’s my cousin, haha.”

Crisis averted

The kid didn’t even know Yuu was an idol and now they have stars in their eyes lmao

Yuu gives the kid an autograph before they leave

Ryoko:

She’s actually pretty good with kids despite not looking like it

They go to a nearby park and play all the outdoor games you can think of

Piggyback rides!!

She treats the kid to some fast food and she even gets him a happy meal with a free toy

When they get back home, the first thing to do is Nap Time

Nap Time ends up lasting till dinner though

Ryoko orders some pizza and they end up watching cartoons till Mamoru gets home

The kid doesn’t want to leave, much to Mamoru’s surprise

Junya:

He’s kinda nervous because he knows kids don’t like him

After an awkwardly quiet lunch, Junya asks the kid what they want to do

But they’re so quiet, like they haven’t really spoken a word at all

Junya is so lost

“Come on, kid. Don’t do me like this.”

He tries to get the kid to watch some cartoons so Junya can have an excuse to go away

It’s already almost time for bed, and the kid’s seen about 7 shows back-to-back

After another particularly silent dinner, Junya offers to read the kid a bedtime story

For the first time that day, the kid’s eyes light up

He lets out a sigh of relief

Ema:

Poor Ema would be so flustered at first because this kid is so energetic??

They keep running around the house chasing her cat, Sir Nathaniel

The poor cat doesn’t like getting his tail pulled

Ema wants to r e s t

She’s screaming inside because this tiny human being won’t stop bouncing off the walls

Eventually, Ema suggests they have a nice little tea party with cookies instead of wreaking havoc around the house

The kid agrees and Ema makes chamomile tea so the kid can take a nap

They eventually do and Ema is t i r e d

Hayato:

haha oh fuck

He knows he’s absolutely terrible with kids, so he’s Not Excited for this at all

He orders a fuckton of takeout food, gets a bunch of toys out and leaves the kid to their own devices while he plays video games in another room

Eventually, the kid gets bored playing on their own and wants to play with Hayato

He has no idea what to do except teach the kid his video game

It’s pretty brutal and violent, too lmao

Hayato forgets that there’s a kid around him and cusses a lot when he loses

By the time the day’s over, the kid’s almost swearing like a sailor and Hikaru’s disappointed in his son smh

or, alternatively: what happened between Naoko and Hayato?

i plan on making a legit story/comic about this one day, but for now, have some bullet points lmao (sorry THIS GOT REALLY LONG)

How were they like before they started dating?

In the beginning, Naoko and Hayato disliked each other. Among all the people in their group of friends, these were the two that didn’t get along at all.

Naoko didn’t like Hayato because to her, he seemed like he didn’t care about anything or anyone but himself. Plus, he never seemed to work to achieve any goals or dreams. Since he was blessed with talent, he never had to practice/strive at all, in contrast to Naoko who always had to work hard.

Also, she never felt like he took her seriously.

On the other hand, Hayato didn’t like Naoko because he saw her as extremely high-strung and dull. To him, she always seemed to care too much about what other people thought. He felt like she was a mindless puppet of the Ichinomiya family who tried way too hard to impress her father.

He’d teasingly call her “Princess” as a way to make fun of her. She hated it. 

Basically, they really didn’t like each other.

How did they start dating?

Somewhere along the line though, things started to change.

One time though, Hayato visited the Tres Spades to lend some files to Kazuma.

What he didn’t expect to see was Naoko snap at Eisuke and Kazuma after being tired of playing second fiddle all her life. 

This was the first time Hayato ever saw her stand up for herself, and after that incident, he started slowly respecting her.

He teased her less and less.

Naoko noticed it and was curious, but nevertheless, she was happy that he was starting to see her as an equal.

Slowly, they start to hang out with each other a bit more.

In their time together, Naoko realizes Hayato actually does care about people and tends to help them in secret. He’s just really lowkey about it because he doesn’t want to attract attention or praise. 

Naoko starts to respect his unexpected humility.

Suddenly, she thinks “Princess” isn’t such a horrible nickname anymore.

Eventually, they both realize that the other isn’t actually as bad as they initially thought.

The others sorta notice that they aren’t fighting as much as they used to, but they don’t comment on it.

One time, Naoko was practicing ballet alone in the dance studio at the hotel, and Hayato was looking for her so they could hang out.

When he saw her dancing alone, poised with such graceful and controlled movements, completely lost in the music, his slowly budding physical attraction to her reaches an all-time high.

He realizes oh shit she’s fucking beautiful how did i not see this before?

After that, he thinks he should ask her out. After all, they both liked each other’s company, plus they both didn’t have anything to lose anyway. 

Still, he plans on keeping their relationship a secret because their friends might start treating them differently.

He eventually asks her out, and Naoko’s surprised by his offer (and also a bit confused as to why he wanted to keep everything a secret), but she says yes because she can’t deny her budding feelings for Hayato.

Naoko’s both excited and nervous because this is her first ever relationship, and it’s with Hayato, of all people. 

Even back when she still didn’t like him, she’s always found him very pleasing to the eye, but now that she’s actually dating him? Poor Naoko’s heart is gonna burst.

But she’s willing to learn how to be a good girlfriend because there’s nothing Naoko Ichinomiya won’t work hard at. 

Naoko tells MC all about it and MC’s happy for her daughter :’)

How were they like when they dated?

Hayato finds her eagerness to learn about relationships endearing, but to be honest, he was never expecting too much from this relationship in the first place.

All his past relationships were just commitment-free, casual flings. He doesn’t plan on getting too close to her or, god forbid, falling in love with her. 

All he plans to do is have a drama-free relationship with her and call it quits when they get tired of each other.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t plan on not doing his part. He’s a surprisingly attentive boyfriend, and Naoko’s surprised at how sweet he actually is? He still teases her, but there’s a softness in his eyes whenever he does.

He loves hearing her talk, but he never talks about himself and always dodges the topic whenever it’s redirected at him.

He always does this and Naoko’s a little sad because she wants to know more about him, but he won’t let her in.

How did they break up?

One time, he asks her out on a date. To Naoko’s surprise, he invites her to go clubbing, of all things. 

It’s so unlike serious, straightforward Naoko, but Hayato thinks that maybe she should start getting out of her comfort zone a bit. She reluctantly agrees.

Naoko and Hayato are still 18 and 19, respectively (which is below 20, the legal drinking/smoking age in Japan), but the bouncer lets them in because Hayato has some shady-ass connections lmao.

Naoko’s so intrigued and overwhelmed by everything because she’s never been to a club before. For the longest time, she’s been used to stiff dinners and dry business galas, so she’s completely lost. 

Hayato slowly lets her ease into the environment, encouraging her to let loose and have fun while secretly trying to shield her from creeps.

Naoko’s in her element when she starts dancing. Hayato joins in eventually and everything’s great.

They both step out to get fresh air.

Hayato looks and Naoko and sees her covered in sweat, with her perfectly-ribboned hair now messed up, and her smile bigger than it usually was. 

She’s happy — happier than she’s ever been in a long time because, finally, she feels free. The constraints of her family, her duty, and the pressure of being an Ichinomiya don’t mean anything here.

Hayato’s overwhelmed by how beautiful she looks at that moment that he kisses her.

She’s surprised at first because this is their first freaking kiss, and she kisses him back with the same fervor he kissed her with.

All they can think about is how good their lips feel on each other.

They separate eventually, and they’re both panting for air. 

There’s a slightly awkward air between them because holy fuck we’ve never actually kissed in all the time we’ve dated.

She gets a little bit shy and tells him thank you for the date and that she’d see him tomorrow.

When she leaves and Hayato’s alone, that’s when he realizes that he’s fallen for her hard, and he’s absolutely fucked because he broke his own rule of never falling in love.

Meanwhile, Naoko returns home and she’s practically on cloud nine.

Kazuma and Eisuke are wondering why she’s so happy.

MC, on the other hand, knows why :^) 

She and Naoko talk about the date the whole night, while the other two are confused.

On the other hand, Hayato arrives home completely shookt. 

He doesn’t even bother acknowledging Hikaru, who’s actually home for the first time in a while. Hayato just heads straight for his room.

Hikaru thinks something’s up, but he doesn’t want to pry into his son’s affairs.

He reflects on how secretive his son is, and Hikaru bitterly thinks that maybe it’s his fault Hayato’s been distant with him. His son is just so much like him, especially in the worst ways, that he’s regretting a lot of mistakes he did in raising Hayato.

The next day, Naoko and Hayato meet up.

Naoko’s excited to see him, but when she sees his conflicted expression, she’s slightly worried

He suddenly drops the bomb  — This isn’t going to work out. I think we should break up.

Naoko gets really dejected  — Why? Things were perfect last night...did I do something wrong?

Shefeels it’s her fault and her deep-set sense of inadequacy kicks in again as she starts to blame herself.

Hayato’s guilty when he sees this, but he still continues.

“I really think this relationship isn’t going to work. Everything was a fluke. Last night was...we were just lost in the mood, swept away by the heat of the moment. You deserve better than me, Naoko, I’m sorry.”

He tells her that, but in reality, he’s breaking up with her because he’s too afraid of intimacy. The thought of letting another person in his heart, letting them see all his thoughts, feelings, and weaknesses scares him, and he’s not sure he’s ready for that. He’d rather be alone than let anyone see him for what he actually is.

Naoko hears his explanation and she’s just...resigned. She tells him okay and she schools her expression into a smiling mask not-so-different from what her father wears when he makes business deals. She doesn’t bother fighting back or crying, opting instead to politely tell him thank you.

Hayato fucking regrets everything when he sees the look on her face, especially when he sees just how fake her smile is. He would much prefer it if she outright cursed him right there.

When Naoko gets home, she immediately heads straight to MC to cry in her arms.

"Was I not good enough, Mom?”

MC soothes and comforts her daughter. She can see a little bit of herself in Naoko and it breaks her heart to see her daughter so hard on herself.

Kazuma and Eisuke hear Naoko crying, so they rush in the room to see her being hugged by MC.

“Mom, why is Naoko crying?” “What’s going on, MC? Who did this? I’ll make them pay”

MC tells them it’s something between a mother and daughter and that they both should just be there for her. 

Kazuma and Eisuke want to question her further, but comforting Naoko is the priority.

The aftermath:

From then on, Naoko’s been treating Hayato clinically and professionally. She would never show anyone, Hayato especially, how hurt she really is.

She still hasn’t told anyone about it. Only MC knows.

Everyone in the group can feel this weird tension between them, but they all assume that they’re fighting again like before.

It’s even worse because he knows Tatsuya likes her, and he can see how earnest Tatsuya is with Naoko. 

He’s jealous, and he’s so tempted to take her back, but he knows he doesn’t deserve her. No one must ever know what he really feels.

And since then, Hayato has never called her “Princess” again.

Kazuma: He actually really likes it because it makes the pizza taste sweeter lmao. Naoko gives him the stink-eye for it, but he claims that she doesn’t have a “refined palate” to appreciate the finer foods in life.

Naoko: She’s not a big fan of it, and she hates it when her brother orders pizza because they both know that he’ll only order pineapple pizza (lmao more for Kazuma). 

Tatsuya: He doesn’t really like it, but if someone offers it to him, he’ll eat it heartily because it’s the right thing to do!!! Even if he’s internally screaming, he’ll eat it if it makes someone happy :’))

Setsuna: She’s pretty neutral with it. But since she knows that some of her friends in the group dislike the pizza, she’ll purposely order it for them just to see their reaction (especially Tatsuya, the poor boy).

Yuu: He thinks it’s pretty okay. At least it’s not oreos with water.

Ryoko: She’s okay with it, but she prefers the more eccentric pizza flavors like the ones with mayo or barbecue sauce.

Junya: He doesn’t like it at all and actively scowls at it. He takes out the pineapples on his pizza and gives it to Ema instead.

Ema: She likes it because she thinks it’s more “healthy” than regular pizzas. Plus, she can eat cheese, bread, tomaro sauce, ham, and pineapples in one meal!

Hayato: He thinks it’s absolutely fucking disgusting, and that anyone who eats it has weird taste buds. Why on earth would you mix fruit with cheese and tomato sauce??

She’s 5′6″. It’s honestly kinda cute because she’s taller than her mother. In family pictures, MC is the shortest lmao

She’s the more responsible and levelheaded twin, serving as damage control and smoothing over situations whenever Kazuma does something rash. She inherited her negotiating skills from her father.

She’s really close with MC and her brother. With MC, she can confide all her fears and worries freely. With her brother, she supports him wholeheartedly (and he, in turn, supports her as well). Her relationship with Eisuke is still a bit strained, but Eisuke tries...

Literally no one can lie to her because she can always tell if they’re lying. She can read nonverbal cues really well, so much so that Eisuke sometimes takes her to meetings so she can scope out the liars for him lmao.

She wants to be a corporate lawyer one day to support the company.

Her sense of humor is terrible, and she can’t tell jokes for shit. She thinks memes from the mid-2000′s are funny and the others just fake laugh so she doesn’t feel bad :’) She’s the only one who laughs at her Uncle Baba’s jokes

She’s a responsible student that color codes all her notes and categorizes them by subject, date, and relevance. She’s secretly jealous of people who never study for tests but get good scores lmao (i.e. Hayato, Kazuma)

Whenever she’s stressed, she either chugs black coffee or practices ballet alone in the hotel dance studio.

Like Junya, she gets protective of Ema when someone makes fun of her.

She’d never admit this to anyone, but she still has feelings for Hayato and is still hurt over their breakup, despite not showing it. She feels as if though it was her fault that he wanted to break up (even though it wasn’t), and this adds more to her feelings of inadequacy...

Sometimes, she feels somewhat suffocated by how overprotective and emotionally dependent her brother is on her, and she still holds some resentment over the fact that he was the reason she chose not to pursue her scholarship abroad.
