I love how fashionable Suri is!!!! Do you have a set aesthetic/style for how your other detectives dress? (No pressure, just curious!! :) )
Hello, hello PD! You are so sweet, and thank you so much for asking!
Thank you! I love Suri’s aesthetic and sense of style. It’s generally more feminine, more revealing, still elegant. Short dresses and short skirts with low cut blouses and three inch heels (to which, I think she’ll have even more wardrobe freedom as she joins the Agency, which will be fun!)
I do have general aesthetics for the others. There was an ummmandy doll divine tag game going around a while back, and I made one for each, trying to fit their general style
(Going left to right; layla, dinah on top and penny, suri on bottom)
Layla - her signature look includes her glasses (round), large hoop earrings, and a black denim jacket. generally pairs with a pretty blouse and either black denim pants or a skirt. in a more formal setting, she’ll swap out the denim jacket for a blazer
Dinah - despite her more (and very) sarcastic demeanor, she does try to appear approachable (which would be more of a boon to her former career as a detective). it’s not pictured here, but she wears sundresses and cardigans, or more muted skirts with a more muted top. tries to come off as cheerful, which is sort of a mood brightener for her. Looking at her Pinterest board (only a few pins!), blouses with large buttery prints, skirts with large floral prints, etc
Penelope (Penny) - still developing her! her face claim is hannah dodd (bridgerton), but i don’t know yet if they’ll have a similar sense of style. but like in the divine doll up there, a little more equipped for the more rural, forested setting of wayhaven, the fanny pack very key to her wardrobe (she doesn’t wear it all the time but it’s handy to have in the woods!)
I picked a style from the book character creator and went from there! Thank you for asking about them 🥹 this was fun to answer!
#thank you so much for asking!!#aah my heart is so full#i only have pinterest boards for suri and dinah#and an ava detective named lauren that has a lot of tattoos but there might only be two pins in there#twc#twc detective#oc: surina batra#oc: layla yaseen#oc: dinah greene#oc: penelope lane#ask

This is such a great question!
Surina Batra
Wants to hear: You are worth fighting for
Needs to hear: He would be so proud of you
Dreads to hear: You will never make an impact
So much of Suri’s story so far revolves around the grand unknown of her life, her father. But now it’s evolving into a story that involves her own power, the supernatural, and this all consuming love that she’s found herself with. Worth fighting for - even with Rook gone too early for her memories, she has always felt that Rebecca never did fight for his legacy, their story, and for her relationship with Surina. Bobby fought against her, her previous relationships were never ones that she felt she needed to fight for. Then there’s Nate, after everything they’ve gone through in three books, declaring their love for each other, to hear him saying it’s too hard? This is a critical point, this will be their make or break - can they work together to get past this part? We will see! She will step up, and hopes he’ll join her. Needs to hear is very much about Rook and living up to his legacy. Dreads to hear speaks to her desire to save those she’s served, even prior to returning to Wayhaven, to keep her town safe both human and supernatural, and to preserve her father’s legacy.
Layla Yaseen
Wants to hear: We will go forward, together
Needs to hear: You can rely on them
Dreads to hear: You have lost control you cannot regain
Layla had it all together, her life plan and her confidence and her career trajectory. Until Ethan Murphy entered her town and ushered in Adam Du Mortain. Her reality is changing, it’s altered in ways she cannot connect, and she is working hard to catch up and come out ahead. Adam. Oh, Adam. She has to laugh, and this cosmic arranged marriage between the two of them. Theyre tied together, and they’re both not ready to face what exactly that really means. She wants to know how she and Adam can navigate this team together with these feelings that have been expressed but shut and locked away once again. She needs to know that she doesn’t have to do this alone, she has a team now.
Dinah Greene
Wants to hear: Stop masking your fears
Needs to hear: You can open yourself up to possibilities
Dreads to hear: They will leave you, too
Ah, Dinah. My sarcastic, cynical detective that brushes away the idea of being romantically close to Mason or opening up to the idea of initiating emotional closeness with him. She has a lot of anger within her that she just bottles away, down to the abandonment she felt from Rebecca. Slowly, she’s coming around. She’s become very good friends with Nate and I think, is leaning on him for emotional comfort. With Mason, she won’t realize her feelings because she doesn’t want to recognize them. Not yet. She’s been liking their snarky little relationship so far but the auction, the “can i have tonight” has fundamentally rocked her foundation
After reading this amazing ask for UB (ty anon for sending in that ask!), I got curious about what the answers for your detectives would be.
What does your detective want to hear, need to hear, and dread to hear from their LI?

if you had to put each of your detectives in a different genre (ex. historical romance, sci-fi, horror, etc) who would you put in which?
Hello, hello! Thank you for such a fun question!
Surina Batra - Suri would absolutely go into a historical romance. I’ve had a lot of daydreams of placing her and Nate in some sort of story - but what kind of historical romance!! Shes definitely not one to want to follow the rules of the ladies on the marriage mart in the ton, so she might take on a sub genre role of a maid, a widow, or just more of a rebellious lady. The story would have great plot and development (of course something wild in the third act), and be full of desire, love, and steamy steam
Layla Yaseen - Layla would be in a mystery novel. One with a focus/lean on science and forensics, as her alternative career would to be some sort of physician. Of course, she would be paired up with someone as head strong as her, whose very presence presents a challenge, and there will be an undercurrent of romance. This story would have plenty of clues and red herrings to keep the reader engaged - more of a modern, updated Agatha Christie
Dinah Greene - Dinah would be in a story which is a mix of contemporary romance, dark humor, and horror. Her whole thing is being approachable on the outside, but being so sarcastic when one gets to talking to her that only a few people happen to make it in, and to those she is loyal to, even if she doesn’t exactly understand what the draw is. So, a funny sort of horror book and she makes several references throughout about how she is the final girl (spoiler alert, she is)
Penelope Lane - Penny would find herself in a hybrid fantasy and adventure story! Maybe or maybe not supernatural, it could lean towards The Ten Thousand Doors of January (an extension of our world) or Legends and Lattes (its own world, supernaturals) - which are two very different stories! Penny is friendly yet intimidating at first, and I think that’ll do her well as she proceeds along the excitement and plot (which lends you resilience in finding truth or opening up a new idea such as a coffee shop - against two very different stories!)
#thank you for the ask!#this was so much fun to think about!#i had already for suri but not so much for the others#yes these are sort of extensions of their romances - but helps me put them where i think they’d fit#suri - nate layla - adam dinah - mason penny - felix#oc: surina batra#oc: layla yaseen#oc: dinah greene#oc: penelope lane#anon ask#ask

Random OC ask for any OCs of your choosing: What do they like most about fall (if anything)?
Hello! What a fun ask! I’ll pick my main TWC detectives:
Suri: The entire fall aesthetic. Warm, subdued colors and a change in her wardrobe (pulling out her favorite tall boots and long cardinals to go with her skirts). The changing colors of leaves. Hot chocolate and s’mores and cuddles by the bonfire. Halloween, definitely dressing up and the Halloween parties and handing out candy
Layla: Pumpkin spice lattes. Pumpkin spice everything. Baking and eating pumpkin pie. The change in the air from hot to cool, marking the start of sweater weather. Making it through the cornfield mazes in record time.
Dinah: Horror movies (Halloween, anyone?). Haunted houses. Ghost stories, especially telling them. Autumn festivals. Decorating pumpkins.
Penny: Never really gave much thought to fall, and is getting to experience the fun of the season with Felix. Days the pumpkin patch and hay rides.
Thank you very much for asking!

I have it on good authority that there is a pinterest board for Surina, and I would love a link if possible.
I also wonder if there is one for Layla, and I'm curious why I am suddenly unable to add a question mark or period to the end of this sentence. :D But I'd settle for knowing about Layla...
Why yes, there is a Pinterest board for Suri! Originally, it had started as a board for just here but even morphed into a Suri as she exists with Nate sort of board (and it’s mainly with a romantic lens)
Suri’s Pinterest Board
Unfortunately, there isn’t one for Layla yet!
Layla Yaseen is a science / deduction oriented detective, and is mainly interested in science, taking on the role because it was the one that best used her mind at use
She is rather ambitious and has strived to strike a proper work/life balance and with that, is a bit more type A than my other detectives and has her life in control. Everything’s great! Everything’s more than fine! Everything is in upward mobility until …
Until …
Adam Du Mortain came into her life.
The supernatural, too. Now everything she knows, e everything she’s spent her life curating, has been turned upside down. But that’s alright, she’s taking it in stride. Sure, everything is unpredictable and there are new patterns to follow, but she’ll figure it out. A new world to understand? She’s on board.
But there are commanding agents that sort of get in the way, and her heart is really unsure of what’s going on. She feels drawn, attracted, and she sort of knows that this vampire is supposed to be her soulmate … and she’s not fighting it. She’s embracing it, cautiously.
Murphy did not bite her, and she got along with Falk and saved Sanja. She buries Murphy’s memory down and doesn’t allow herself to think about him (she’s FINE)
As I like to say, she will be no clown for Adam, and he instead, is the clown for Layla. They clashed at first, and now they’re … on the same page? He’s respecting her decision? But then. That last scene. That kiss. And again, her life has turned upside down.
BFF is Nate because she needs that stability that comes with romancing Adam, and he knows him best. Loves and adores Farah, and really has a healthy respect for Morgan (but not a fan of smoking)
Has a good relationship with Rebecca, hopes they can get along better. Bobby is her former friend from college, and that’s the extent of their relationship
She’s of average height and here are a few pic crews of her!
Thank you for asking! Please let me know if you have any questions!
#took me way too long to find the pic crews#and the suri pinterest was a little more suggestive but those#*those pins have been moved but still it’s a little spicy#please let me know if have any questions!#oc: surina batra#oc: layla yaseen
