Tumblr media
Content warning: mentions of death, self harm, suicide attempt, and grief
*:・゚✧*:✧
It’s a sad thing what happened to Alastair Cadwalader.
Bernadette didn’t know him well. In the start she didn’t even care for him very much. But now she feels a lingering guilt — something she’s not accustomed to feeling. She could have been kinder to him, true, but that’s not where the guilt comes from. It comes from watching those around her sink in on themselves, succumbing to their sorrow.
Death itself has never bothered Bernadette. No, why would it? But it bothers her to see its effects on others.
It's been an entire month and Kokoa and Kau’i still haven’t managed to coax Karl out of his tub. And while Bernadette did always find him a bit too squishy and slimy for her liking, it saddens her to hear the twins whispering to each other worriedly, trying to figure out what to do about the boy.
Altynai doesn’t fare much better. She’s not as kind as she once was. Her smooth skin Bernadette was once so fond of is now patchy, dark circles permanently strung under her eyes. All she does is smoke these days, unfortunately for Luna who shares a wall with her and has to smell the smaug in the vents. She covers her third eye with a prosthetic now.
Mahin’s not as kind either. He was never terribly charismatic but now he’s sharper. He snaps at people, ignores others, claiming he’s far too busy to deal with trivial things at the moment. Bernadette thinks he blames Pabitra. Bernadette doesn’t but she understands why. Pabitra herself hasn’t said a thing on the matter but Bernadette knows she feels guilty. She can see it.
James is the loudest about his grief. Not openly so, not to everyone. Only Bernadette knows it. He walks around, silent as a mouse, his head ducked down. She’d think he was a ghost if she didn’t know better. But she does know better. Because every night, when she’s sitting in her bed, she can hear James on the other side of the wall.
It happens the same way every night like clockwork. He closes himself in his room, it’s quiet for a minute, and then the screaming starts. There’s the banging of him throwing things around, fists against the wall, hard enough to crack it. But Bernadette doesn’t complain. Because every night, it ends the same. It goes silent for a minute and then there’s muffled sobbing and it grows louder and louder and Bernadette has to sit and listen until he finally cries himself to sleep in the early morning.
If Bernadette didn’t hear it first hand every night, she would never have known the intensity of his emotions when he leaves his room the next morning, looking dull and numb.
In Bernadette’s personal opinion, it is the most disheartening to see Wren and Atlas. That is, on the rare occasion that anyone sees them at all.
Wren, while still scarce, is seen more often than Atlas. They walk back and forth down the halls sometimes, muttering to themself. Most of it isn’t audible but Bernadette can pick out the same recurring phrases each time. ‘Why’d you do it?’, ‘It’s not the same’, ‘Please say something’. It’s a horribly pitiful thing — someone younger than Bernadette herself walking around and talking to a ghost that isn’t there.
No one dares say anything to them.
The worst thing, Bernadette thinks, is when she can hear Atlas. They all can from the common room. If you’re in any common space when the sobbing starts, you’re bound to hear it all.
It’s painful. No matter where in the living room they’re sitting, when Atlas’s weeping starts, the room falls silent. Most people will sit and listen with grimaces before excusing themselves. James is always the first to rush out of the room to find somewhere quiet.
Not Bernadette. She sits and listens. She listens because she knows it is the only way to hear her friend’s voice again. As distressing as it is to only hear him speak through sobs, at least she can hear something.
Atlas usually doesn’t speak. It’s just loud, heaving sobs that eventually sputter out into little whimpers and then Wren comes out of the room with red eyes, silently getting a glass of water and retreating back into the bedroom that they might as well share with Atlas at this point.
Bernadette knows if he had the chance to end it all he would. If Wren didn’t stick to his side and ensure his safety he would. She knows he’s already tried and failed and that thought makes her queasy. She can still vividly recall Wren bursting into the kitchen sobbing.
‘Atlas. In the bathroom,’ they’d said.
And they all found Atlas exactly where Wren had said. He’d used the same knife they’d found Alastair with.
He’d been angry for a while after that, trying to escape the infirmary. Screaming as they held him down. ‘It’s my fault. It’s all my fault! Let me see him!’
It probably was partially Atlas’s fault. But Bernadette would never say that.
Sometimes, when he’s crying to Wren in his room Atlas says things. And those are the times that Bernadette wishes she wasn’t listening.
‘I wish I was with him, Wren. I wish I was dead.”
It’s always a bit heartbreaking to hear your friend cry and say he wishes he was dead.
Death is quite funny, Bernadette thinks. A tool to free one from their pain only to inflict it upon others. It only leaves them with the desire to end their own pain as well. It’s a cycle of passed down suffering.
It’s a sad thing what happened to Alastair Cadwalader, but what Bernadette thinks is sadder, is that he is not here to see the pain he’s caused.
Kokoa, Kau’i, Luna, Mahin, and Atlas are owned by @oros-ash3s and Wren is co-owned by him

Hi!! I told you I’ve been mulling over an ask for you! c’: It’s for Yiuno! I know, Yiuno’s very knowledgeable about the history of the star (-‿◦) could you tell us which era from Hydaelyn’s history he considers his favourite? Without revealing more about his OC lore than you’re comfortable revealing publicly, of course!
Thank you very much for the ask and a million apologies for the super late reply, @archaiclumina! ’Tis a tough question to answer—let’s see:
Though Yiuno has lived well and beyond the age of ordinary mortals, this doesn’t desaturate the memories of his troubled past, nor dampen his feelings for those fleeting moments. He remembers them all—this inability to forget the time he cannot rewind pains him, twisting him into the man he has now become.
To withstand the agony of living on while others around him would perish, he started to distance himself from the people and the world around him—a defensive mechanism to minimize the consequences of growing attachment on things that wouldn’t last forever. Living on becomes a mere routine, a daily motion to go through each day while staying under the radar, hiding in the shadows of history and be forgotten.
Calling these his favorite times in history is a stretch, but Yiuno did break out of the mundane cycle twice in his eternal life so far:
Tumblr media
The War of the Magi.
Yiuno, along with his twin sister Yiuna, joined Magi Lucis—the Mages of Light. Similar to the Circle of Knowing (1.0) and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn (2.0), Magi Lucis was founded by three mages, from each of the warring factions:
Seika Yan, a white mage from Amdapor,
Loki Zoki, a scholar from Nym, and
Kokoa Koa, a Mhachi magus.
The formation of Magi Lucis was to bring an end to the century-old war through peaceful means. However, that was quickly proven to be impossible, as none of the three nations were willing to negotiate and compromise—all of them were hellbent to destroy one another through military might. The organization was then forced to employ a different approach: by infiltrating each factions from within, they might be able to find ways to steer these nations away from their hunger for power and blood, and convince them to call for a ceasefire, to work towards a more amicable resolution.
Given Yiuna’s aptitude for healing magic, she was assigned to make contact with Amdapor. Through her efforts, she managed to gain the trust of the Elementals—the spirits that co-exist with the people of Amdapor in the woods, which also taught the basics of white magick to the locals.
Yiuno, meanwhile, was sent to Mhach, where he met Shatotto Shato. Shatotto had grown disgusted at the over-reliance on voidsents in the war. She began to develop a new kind of spell, which was later known as black magick. Recognizing Yiuno’s great affinity in her area of study, she wasted no time to force the Veena under her wing, and used him to refine her research with alarming efficiency. Yiuno also later found out that Kokoa was acquainted with Shatotto—both graduated from the same arcane academy in the same year, and Shatotto, with her overwhelming talent, was the top student at that time.
Convinced that her new magic would be enough to finally end this ridiculous bloodshed once and for all, Shatotto brought Yiuno alongside her onto the battlefield, and summoned a meteor rain to annihilate the opposing armies with sheer power. However, she severely underestimated Yiuno’s raw potential. The destruction that they caused was beyond control, wiping out just as many of their own people as their enemies. Shatotto chose to shoulder the full responsibility herself and removed Yiuno from the equation—she believed that it was her own miscalculation that had resulted in the huge loss. She knew that Yiuno had long surpassed her; she wanted him to continue living on and become the epitome of her legacy. He didn’t have to die with her, and bear the shame of her mistakes. (This is the reason why Shatotto was feared in history, and her black magick was often attributed to forbidden arts, or even considered evil.) Yiuno became the last direct successor, though he often hides his knowledge on black magick, and pretends to be a Red Mage instead.
The relationship between Yiuno and Shatotto appeared to be built on mutual benefits (Yiuno used Shatotto’s high rank position in the military for political gains, while Shatotto used Yiuno for her own research); their constant bickering and attempts to dominate over one another gave the impression of being on bad terms. In reality, they were very fond of each other, with mutual respect on equal footing. (On the same note, this is probably why Yiuno clicks so well with Y’shtola later in the game canon timeline, because intellects at that level aren’t easy to come by.)
The Seventh Umbral Calamity.
Yiuno and Yiuna often wandered around Eorzea and other lands as mercenaries for hire. This is mainly to keep themselves under the radar and avoid drawing attention to their immortality. They were hired by an exiled Sharlayan scholar—a Moon Keeper by the name of I’suca Amariyo—on a excursion to the Nhalmasque Ruins. I’suca’s main area of study, which ironically was about the relationship between aether and ageing, brought her to the ruins in search of an artifact rumored to defy the logic of time.
However, what they found was a young Xaela girl cryogenized in a life pod, which appeared to be powered by something similar to Allagan technology. I’suca freed the Au Ra, hoping to learn about her origin and the mystery behind her extraordinary state, but was disappointed when the girl turned out to be amnesiac.
I’suca named her “I’sora Amariyo,” and she began to subject the Xaela to a series of experimentation. The Viera twins, though they didn't agree with I’suca’s questionable treatment towards what she called an “empty vessel,” were bound to the contract as hired bodyguards, and they were unable to openly defy their client. However, they did their best to take care of I’sora, playing with the curious girl and teaching her various things about the world around them. I’sora was particularly close to Yiuno: she’d often curl up next to him whenever she fell asleep. On occasions when the young girl had sudden panic attacks, Yiuno’s presence was the only thing that could calm her down. Both Yiuno and Yiuna had come to regard I’sora as their little sister.
I’suca’s redemption happened during the Seventh Umbral Calamity. She had been tinkering around the life pod while trying to figure out I’sora’s origin (she hypothesized that the child was probably a remnant of the Age of Endless Frost, hence the use of deep freezing to preserve her). To save I’sora and the Viera twins from Bahamut’s rage, she forced the trio into the life pod, and protected them with her own magic until her last breath.
By the time Yiuno and I’sora woke up from their five-year slumber into a new era, they couldn’t any trace of I’suca remaining in the world. Yiuna was also missing, though Yiuno was sure that his twin sister must be still alive somewhere. With the Xaela, renamed as Sora Amariyo, they journeyed across the Star in search of Yiuna, and Sora later became a Warrior of Darkness.
Tumblr media
The lore-bending parts are mostly my personal take on existing canon and expanding it further to weave into my blorbos’ lore and backstories. There are actually a lot more to what you’ve just read above, which I’m more than happy to go into details in DMs if anyone is interested. For now, this is the barebone that should (hopefully) answer the question.
Once again, thank you very much for the ask!

Starshine [Haikyuu]
Tumblr media
chapter three
♡ anime masterlist ♡ previous chapter ♡ next chapter ♡
Kokoa Sugawara got through life by being herself. She didn't know how to be anyone else. Often times she felt as though she was stuck in her brother's shadow, after all, they liked many of the same things and constantly did the same things. Only, he was the fantastic volleyball player that everyone loved. She was just the sports photographer following in her twin's footsteps. But one day, she meets a boy whose freckles are aligned like stars, guiding her to him.
Tadashi was used to being in Kei's shadow. In fact, he often liked it that way. When he and Kokoa meet, he finds that he doesn't mind being in the spotlight, as long as she's controlling its gaze.
pairing(s): tadashi yamaguchi x fem!oc
warnings: none
Tumblr media
Kokoa walks into the practice match right as Kageyama is getting ready to serve. The first thing she hears is a powerful slam and a whoosh of air follows before the ball slams into the grou–Daichi’s waiting arms.
“Yamaguchi,” Tsukishima calls and sets up the ball for his friend.
“I got this, Tsukki!” Yamaguchi spikes the ball, hitting Hinata’s arms and going off to the side.
“Damn it,” Kageyama bristles.
“Nice set, Tsukki.”
“Steady receives are Daichi’s forte,” Tanaka tells the first years on his team. “He’s an incredible defender.”
“Were you expecting to score a few points in a row?” Daichi asks, confidence flowing from his body. “I don’t have any outstanding talents, but I’ve spent two years more than you guys etching this receiving skill into my body.” He gets into a deep receiving position. “Don’t think I’m going down without a fight.”
Hinata watches in awe. “So cool!”
“Come on, King,” Tsukishima ribs. “Don’t you think it’s about time you pulled out all the stops?”
Hinata sets his sights on the tall first year. “What’s your problem, man? You keep trying to pick a fight with him! What the hell is the “King’s set”?”
“Don’t you know why he’s called the King?”
“Well, for some reason, he’s really good. The other schools must have gotten scared of his skills and named him that, no?”
Tsukishima lowers his voice like he’s telling some great tale. “I’m sure there are a lot of people who think that way. But rumor has it that he was given the nickname of “King of the Court” by the guys from Kitagawa Daiichi. It means “Egocentric King”, or “Oppressive Despot”. I only heard rumors about it at first, but I was convinced after watching that match. He got so oppressive that they had to sub him out of the final.” Tsukishima notices Kageyama’s silence. “That’s why you stopped making quick sets? Are you chickening out due to what happened in that final?”
Tanaka steps forward angrily. “Hey, you’ve been running your mouth for a while now–”
“Tanaka,” Daich warns, shaking his head.
“If you make sets, but nobody jumps to hit them–,” Tsukishima continues before Kageyama cuts him off.
“That’s right. The idea of making a set only to find that there’s nobody there…terrifies me.”
“But that was back in junior high, right?” Hinata asks in confusion. “So long as he sets for me, I don’t really care. Breaking through your guard is a far more pressing issue! We’re gonna beat Tsukishima and join this team for real! You’ll get to play setter with your head held high, and then you’ll set for me! Does anything else matter?”
“That kind of pure and straightforward shtick really gets on my nerves,” Tsukki sneers. “Your spirit won’t make up for your lack of height. If you think hard work trumps all else, then you’re sorely mistaken.”
Tsukishima serves the ball and Tanaka easily receives it. “Leave it to me!”
“Gimmie!” Both Hinata and Tanaka shout, leaving the decision up to Kageyama of who to set the ball to.
“Tanaka!” He shouts.
Hinata screams out in response. “Kageyama!” He appears behind Kageyama as he gets ready to set the ball. “I’m here!”
Kageyama does a quick set to Hinata, who almost misses the ball. They watch as it lands outside the court.
Hinata blows out a breath of air. “That was close. I nearly whiffed that one. It went out, though.”
“What was that for?” Kageyama yells.
“But the ball did come to me!” Hinata says. “Who cares about junior high? I’ll take whatever sets I can get. And I’ll be grateful for all of them! I’ll jump anywhere. I’ll spike any ball! So…set for me!”
Kokoa shuffles over to her brother, murmuring to him quietly. “Kageyama was definitely going to pass to Tanaka just now.”
Koshi nods in agreement, matching her quiet tone before speaking. “It’s like he reacted to Hinata’s voice on instinct and changed his mind at the last second. To be able to make that accurate of a set on such short notice…”
“At least his amazing sets are kind of a distraction from his shitty attitude,” she replies, tuning back into the match before them.
On the court, Tanaka watches the younger boys in shock. “You guys can run quick plays?”
“Quick plays?” Hinata asks, not understanding the fancy terminology.
“Fast attacks like the one you just did!” Tanaka clarifies.
“No way!” The ginger tells him adamantly as if he didn’t just hit the quick set. “I’ve only ever spiked slow and looping sets.”
Tanaka looks at him like he’s crazy. “But you just did it! And besides, didn’t you once spike a messed-up set from that beginner on your junior high team? Stuff like that.”
Hinata reflects on the past match, confused. “Huh? Oh, but I don’t remember how I did that.” This makes the second year look at Hinata in confusion, not sure how to respond. “But I’ll spike any set that comes my way!” The first year continues. “You hear me?”
Kageyama glares down at Hinata. “We’ve never practiced plays,” he says, his tone never changing. “Running a quick one is impossible.”
“What are you being so timid for?” Hinata asks, backing away from Kageyama. “It’s giving me the creeps!”
“Oh, shut it,” the grumpy first year says as he stalks away.
The similarly grumpy Tsukishima turns his attention towards Hinata. “There you go, getting all worked up again,” he says, simpering. “‘Try and try until you succeed’ sounds nice on paper, but it doesn’t always work like that.”
“Why are you so negative?” Kokoa asks bluntly, bringing all the attention in the room to her. It was obvious that both Sugawara siblings received the same soft genes with the way her face resembled her brothers. She had a delicate bone structure complete with a button nose and soft skin and her hair was like a long, silver waterfall down her back. It’s no question that she’s attractive. Yamagichi certainly thought so.
“And who are you?” Tsukishima asks, narrowing his eyes at her reproachful comment.
“Kokoa Sugawara,” she says, crossing her arms and matching his tone. “You never answered my question, beanpole.”
Tsukishima scowled but answered her anyway. “Everyone has things they’re just not cut out for. And he’s clearly not fit to be a spiker.”
“Says you,” Kokoa cuts in before Hinata yells at him. “High school is very different from junior high. And anyone can improve when they put enough effort into it.” Hinata stands behind her, crossing his arms and nodding his head with a serious face as if saying “exactly”.
The shorter first year finally decides to speak up. “I know that a volleyball player needs to be tall,” he says, feeling slightly inferior to the giants around him. “That it doesn’t matter how high you can jump. It’ll never make up for a massive difference in height. But I don’t care if I’m disadvantaged or not cut out for it. I wanna fight using my own body. I wanna keep winning and stay on the court as much as I can!” His body was tense and his face was pulled taught, an obvious challenge for Tsukishima should he take it.
Kageyama suddenly pushes past Kokoa and grabs Hinata by his shirt to pull him away from the net. Sugawara does the same to his sister, practically scruffing her like a pup as he drags her away from the court. Both scramble and complain to their companions.
As the game resumes, Kokoa turns to her brother. “I’m not staying for this, I’ve got some stuff to do.”
Koshi eyes her skeptically. “What stuff?”
“Stuff,” she smiles at him innocently while picking up her bag. Making her way to the gym doors, she turns her attention to the two first years she came to be friends with. “Oi, Hinata, Kageyama!” The two first years turn to her in surprise. Lingering by the door, she smiles brightly at them. “You both better win this. I’m looking forward to taking some action shots of that quick so you better make the team in your proper positions.”
“Yes!” They both yell, matching her grin and Kokoa makes her way outside.

hello i saw your post about your danganronpa oc and they look really cool ! may we pretty please hear their lore ?
HI! yes you may hear about her! I'm not really done figuring out all her lore but I'd be happy to tell you everything I've got right now! I'll try my best not to include too much complicated idol fan language.
first I need to explain her talent! unsurprisingly, it's idol related. she's the shsl wota, but because the word wota isn't used outside of idol circles I might just switch it to "idol fan". also wota would probably be localized as "stan" which is a scary thought.
Kokoa (full name 一色心愛 Isshiki Kokoa) is very popular online for her dedication to idols, both real and fictional. She buys all of their CDs, their merch, their penlights¹, everything she can get her hands on! She's a very sweet girl that loves cheering on her favorite idols!
Or, at least it seems that way. In actuality, Kokoa's a very bitter person. She was alone for most of her childhood, so she convinced herself the world was rotten. She didn't need friends because everyone else was disgusting. They were inferior to her. But she still had to put on a mask of sorts. Her mother was always busy with work, but as long as Kokoa was the cute daughter she could show off, she'd be praised.
All of her moves became calculated. The way she spoke, the way she would walk, her body language, nothing was authentic anymore. But she still had to live with all the bitterness and hatred in her. That didn't go away no matter how many ribbons or frilly skirts she'd wear.
She thought nobody in the world could understand her. Only she understood how the world worked. Her mom could only pay attention to her when she was a good kid, a cute kid. So that's what she was.
One day, Kokoa was watching TV at home. She flipped to some variety show, just so she could have some background noise. But something caught her eye - a group of idols was next to the host. They were all wearing shiny outfits. They all had such a specific charm to them. In that moment, Kokoa finally felt drawn to someone. She didn't know why. She typically deemed everyone as "not worth her time", but something about these girls pulled her in.
She'd soon gain access to the internet, and in an attempt to learn more about this new idol group she just found out about, she went on forums dedicated to all kinds of j-pop groups. She really only lurked there. She'd find threads on her favorite group and skim through them, anything to know more about them. But a specific addition caught her eye. It's not one that got a lot of attention, but it changed her. "it's so funny to me how half the group is probably fake as shit, there's no way mimicchan is that obnoxious irl"
To anyone else, this would have been written off as a stupid rumor or a hate comment. Anyone else would have scrolled past and moved on with their day. But to Kokoa, this made her feel seen. If she had known idols were as fake as she was, she would have fallen in love sooner. This is when she knew it was time to get serious. Somehow, she'll let them (discreetly) know that she understands. They're the only people that share her mindset, so she should try to genuinely connect with them and them only.
*1 penlight = lightstick
Okay that's what I've got for her backstory. Sorry for the infodump! Also I just woke up and started writing this at 6 am so apologies if it's poorly written lol
