I was playing through inquisition yesterday and like. I am thinking about that scene where the Inquisitor is officially named the Inquisitor

And how Cassandra leads them up the stairs, and asks the question. How she asks it in front of the entire inquisition, purposely loud enough for them to hear. And how the Inquisitor couldn't say no. They don't get the choice to. Not in front of all these people who are relying on them. No matter how badly they did or did not want this title, it was chosen for them.

Herald, Maker's chosen, Inquisitor. They got a say in none of these. I love how the writing in DAI pushes the whole 'you are no longer a person, you are a symbol ' thing in EVERYTHING.

A person gets to choose their title, their rank, their duties or lack there of. A symbol gets a say in none of it.

I have literally not once ever convinced Dorian to talk with his father. None of my inquisitors even HESITATE to leave. Issani heard 'blood magic' and well. Honestly Dorian's dad is lucky she didn't start hitting him with her staff 😭😭

She gets to smooch Ambassador Josephine Montiliyet :3 I'm still in haven but I've been thinking about their dynamic and. She's the keepers first and I imagine Josephine often falls asleep while she tells her stories. Josie curled up on her lap while Issani plays with her hair... They're infecting my brain so so bad I need to draw them Josephine my beautiful wife...

Occasionally Dorian and Issani make eye contact while meeting with foreign dignitaries and Josephine's heart drops bc that means they're about to cause problems on Purpose and 9/10 she has to clean up the mess

I think Issani is like. Vehemently in denial about her god's actions

Like. Sure she believed Solas is Fen'Harel. It makes sense; of course her god of trickery would get close to the hero, try to mentor her, then to close his jaws around her and ensnare her into a plot to end the world. That she can accept. That makes sense.

But Elgarnan being a tyrant? Ghilinnain being cruel? Her god's wielding their power, not for her people, but against them? That she cannot accept. That she will not listen to.

I think it would lead to her swearing to stop him, no matter what. He is Fen'Harel. He cannot be redeemed, only put into his place.

As the years go on, it becomes harder and harder for her to deny his words. When her gods are wreaking havoc onto the lands, she can no longer cloak herself in denial. And perhaps, it softens her view of Solas a bit. Once, he was her friend. A mentor, someone to confide in as she shouldered the burdens of the world.

Idk what it is about the Inquisitor but I keep making them heavily religious. Probably bc of the themes of Inquisiton or whatever but yk

Yapping about how my canon dragon age protagonists feel about blood magic yay

Aviae Surana: she would totally use. However she's always been very fade sensitive, and I think that would probably lead to blood magic giving her a headache in the same way being in places where the veil is thin does (kind of like Lucanis? Not sure if the blood magic sensitivity comes from being fade sensitive or just weird Lucanis shit. She doesn't feel it behind her eyes it's more akin to a pressure in her skull). Also, as a spirit healer she works pretty closely with spirits, some of whom would probably take offense to it. Would cut open her hand to let her gf do blood magic tho

Lucio Hawke: he is a blood mage! Generally his view of blood magic is pretty positive so long as nobody is being. You know. Sacrificed. Him and Anders have had SEVERAL arguments over this. They love each other dearly regardless. After Leandra dies, he kind of has a complicated relationship with it. He stops doing it for a good few months, and even after that it's used very sparingly (fun fact this became canon for him bc on my run of him I basically stopped using blood magic in act 3. I mainly relied on force magic and elemental skills so I just didn't use it much. It was a casual playthrough so). After the chantry boom he's very cautious about using it in general bc of the fact that he and Anders are on the run. He is very good at hiding his blood magic though nobody knew about it for like five months after he started doing it. Sebastian never finds out, mostly because everyone in the group decides he would be far too annoying if he did.

Issani Lavellan: she's very neutral on it. it's a tool. One that can be used. She personally doesn't really use it, but she wouldn't be against it if she had no other choice

Ena de Riva: he's a crow. There is no way in HELL he hasn't used it. Tbh he loves forbidden magic. The rest of the veilguard find out he's a mage because he asks Emmrich to teach him necromancy. However, he does not use his blood magic around the veilguard, and post game makes sure not to use it around Lucanis, since he knows how much it bothers him. Everything else is free game. He shape shifts, he raises the dead, he performs blood magic. What more do you want in a man honestly

I think leliana watches Issani and Josephine dance around their (very obvious) feelings for each other and gets violent flashbacks to whatever the fuck Aviae and Morrigan were doing back during the blight. Like yeah sure there's less yelling about it (Aviae and Morrigan yelled. A lot. Zevran used to jokingly call it their foreplay but that's NOT the point of this post) but Issani and Josephine are both trying Not to acknowledge their feelings. Something with Aviae and Morrigan did for almost half a year

I also think Leliana is protective over Josephine for the same reason. She watched her dear friend have her heart broken by a sexy dark haired mage with orange eyes who grew up away from human society. And now she's watching the same thing happen with Josie. And while Issani and Morrigan aren't THAT similar Leliana still remembers how horrible Aviae's breakdown post origins was, and well. She doesn't want that happening to Josie.

It all works out in the end. But I do think they remind Leliana of Aviae and Morrigan sometimes
