Deirdre is, naturally, the type of person who pretends that everything is fine when she’s going through emotional turmoil. After all, she’s the “sunshine,” so she has to maintain the pretense.
Her pact with gloom-and-doom deity Rue was one of whimsy and winning a deck of cards against him, but she didn’t account for how much their pact would make her feel things beyond the surface. Both of them, unfortunately.
At least he’s able to comfort her in times of need! …even if he’s a little unsure how best to do that, since he’s never seen the mischiefmaker cry before.
