welcome to the world of pokemon! i am professor bec, and five of your oc's are ready to begin their pokemon journey! do they want to be a pokemon master, or are they gym leaders? the choice is yours! if they're starting their journeys, what are their starter pokemon, and bonus points if you fill out their team! and if they're gym leaders, what type do they specialise in and what's their team look like?
Pokémon Journey, start!
Marcus Lee | Gym Leader: Marcus Lee specializes in fighting type and he has a weakness in his heart for dark type pokémon. His gym is based in the Kanto region, close to Cinnabar Island. When challenged, Marcus Lee will start with his Hitmonlee whom he loves dearly and works out with constantly. The rest of his team consists of a Mienshao, a Machoke, a Riolu, a Pangoro, a Scraggy, a Mankey and a Monferno. He also had a Charmander, who was his first Pokémon, but it was given to his best friend Luc when he decided to become a fighting type gym leader. When you defeat him, Marcus Lee will give you the Fighting Badge.
Max | Trainer: Max grew up in the Kanto region, with his best friend Marcus Lee. While Marcus Lee always knew he wanted to be a gym leader, Maxy wanted to become friends with as many pokémon as he could. After getting a Squirtle from Professor Oak and setting out on his journey, Max quickly realized that there were so many pokémon that he didn’t know of (much like Ash Ketchum) and he spent a few years in Kanto happily making friends and capturing pokémon. After that, he headed to Johto; he’d learned that one of Marcus Lee’s friends had moved there and that in places like Azalea Town and Goldenrod City, humans and pokémon lived together in harmony. Now, Max lives in Azalea Town with some friends and a whole group of poké pals; his Squirtle, a Horsea, a Mudkip, a Piplup, an Eevee, a Teddiursa, a Lilipup, and a Wooloo. Although he mostly has water type pokémon at the moment, Max is hoping to get a few of each type. He just wants to be friends with all the pokémon in the world.
Cora | Trainer: Cora, although not a gym leader, specializes in electric type pokémon. She has always loved Pikachu's (her sister had the sweetest little one, nicknamed Chuchi) and as soon as Cora started her pokémon journey, she knew she wanted to specialize in electric type. Growing up in the Johto region, Cora was first given a Chikorita for her pokémon journey but immediately afterwards, she came across a hurt Mareep and so, after taking it to the Pokémon Centre, she added Mareep to her team. Cora spent a solid eight years travelling around Johto and other regions, battling gym leaders, capturing pokémon and making friends. However, just past her 18th birthday, she returned home to Azalea Town due to her mother falling ill. While there, she met a boy named Max and fell in love with not only him but the way he treated and cared for his pokémon. Afterwards, she abandoned her hope of one day becoming a gym leader, deciding that she’d rather just travel the world with Max and learn all about pokémon. Currently in her team are her Squirtle and Mareep, a Jolteon, a Yamper, a Pikachu, a Luxray, a Zebstrika, a Emolga and a Haunter. She also has a soft spot for ghost type pokémon although, apart from her Haunter, Cora has yet to catch many.
Luc | Gym Leader: Luc specializes in fire type pokémon and runs a gym in the Johto region. When he was younger, he wanted to be a pokémon trainer and as soon as he turned ten he got a Cyndaquil from Professor Elm. But as he went along on his journey, he realized that being a gym leader was just so much cooler. So he went hard to work, training to become a fire gym leader. After being an apprentice for Clair at the Blackthorn City gym for a few years, Luc left and started his own gym in Cherrygrove City. His Cyndaquil (who by then had evolved into Quilava) is his partner; his strongest pokémon and the one he sends out to battle first. The rest of his team is made up of an Arcanine, a Torkoal, a Fennekin and a Charizard (the evolved Charmander from Marcus Lee).
Stella | Trainer: Like her brother before her (Alex), Stella always knew that she wanted to be a pokémon trainer. Growing up in Hoenn Region, Stella had always hoped to get a Mudkip as her first pokémon; but due to oversleeping, she had to go with her second choice, a Treecko. After that, Stella joined her brother on a journey around the Hoenn region, bonding with her Treecko and adding to her team, until Alex dropped her back off home a few years later. Alex headed off to the Sinnoh region and Stella decided to go visit some family friends in the Kanto region. There, she had her first proper encounter with Team Rocket who tried to take her Pichu. With the help of her Treecko and a gym leader, Marcus Lee, she was able to get her Pichu back. Stella prefers grass type pokémon, but has never really settled on just one type for her team; she has her Treecko and Pichu, a Cherubi, a Leafeon, a Deerling, a Misdreavus and a Laprus.
Bonus! Abigail | Team Rocket: Abigail grew up in the Kanto region, in Vermilion City with her brother Dominic. Due to a run in with an angry pack of Arcanine when she was five, Abigail didn’t really like pokémon all that much, and even as she grew older, she was very wary of them. At ten, she thought about going to see Professor Oak and getting a pokémon, but quickly changed her mind when Dominic told her that there would be Growlithes there. Instead, Abigail stayed home with her brother and went to a Pokémon Trainers School in Viridian City. After graduating, Abigail decided that instead of going home, she’d try and face her fear of Arcanines; this lead to her meeting Team Rocket during one of their attempts to capture pokémon. She immediately decided she liked the group (and James) and wanted to become a part of the team. After meeting Giovanni, Abigail become part of Team Rocket with Jesse and James. She’s a better pokémon trainer than they are, and better at battles too, and therefore she has helped them steal many pokémon. Her team is made up of a few strong pokémon, a Vaporeon, a Tyranitar, an Onix and a Donphan. She also helped James train his Gyarados to the strongest it could be.
