#oc: celine rostra

rambling about celine and her ship with canach because i'm currently writing a little ficlet of them and instead of actually writing it, i'm gushing about their backstory because i'm in love.

so, their relationship is a... complicated one. they met while working for the consortium during season one, canvasing southsun cove. canach was this basic boi with a voice like honey, and celine lowkey loved that. in turn, canach lowkey admired her skills with a blade and her ability to lead... and she was kinda cute (for a human).

ofc the events of the lost shores happen: they piss off the karka and lion's arch is invaded by crazy crustaceans. canach and celine take the fall, escaping to garenhoff to avoid the slammer. there, they make a deal with each other: fuck over the consortium and, most importantly, stick together.

it doesn't go as planned.

the pair are apprehended by the lionguard in garenhoff, and to avoid jail, canach proposes a bargain: they aid in the killing of the ancient karka in exchange for their freedom. the lionguard acquiesce, but when the time arrived, canach fled... leaving celine behind.

suffice to say, celine was pissed.

the fight with the karka almost kills her, and after a few weeks in recovery, she awakes in a jailcell in lion's arch. canach got away after all, why should she walk when he's free to cause havoc? well, celine suggests another deal: her freedom for canach. she stayed to slay the karka after all, at a detriment to her own life, her word surely means more than that lying son of a tree.

kiel, rather begrudgingly, agrees to the notion, but warns her that if she fucks up, kiel will be coming after her. well, kiel has nothing to worry about. celine, after all, has all intentions of keeping her promise.

after months of searching, she finds a newly changed canach on southsun, purposefully riling up karka to piss off the consortium. she'd be lying if she thought this new canach wasn't hotter than before, and if her ability to hold a grudge wasn't stronger, she might've even joined him in his plans. but pissing off the consortium was something they promised to do together, and here the spiky bastard was, doing it without her!

the confrontation is ugly, ending in a fight too close to call, with daggers poised and mines rigged. in the end though, celine lands a final blow and incapacitates the secondborn sylvari. and then she calls the lionguard: a move canach did not expect.

the deceit dripped with the blood on his armour, the irony lost on a battle too sour to swallow, and a hurt too hard to mend. for the both of them. they were alone in the world before the consortium, and they found comradery and friendship in an unlikely place.

now they're alone again.

celine doesn't look back as canach is escorted in cuffs to the lionguard's ship, and that's the last they see of each other. until seven years later when they arrive on dragonfall.

and they still hate each other.
