👎 = Is there anyone in your muse’s family they dislike, why?
Kell - Kell doesn't much like his older cousin Marcellain. He's probably the closest to a snobby family member that the farm has. He's just a bit "better than you" about everything, often one-upping and Kell has no paticience for it. Really though, he's close to most of his family as they grew up close together and working to a common goal. He's even close to Marcellain, as much as he dislikes the guy! The family member he knows least well is the son of Marcellain's older brother. G'ren grew up in Sharlayan and so Kell doesn't have much opinion at all of him, compared to the rest of the family, even though the are nearly the same age.
Quinn - Quinn's only family is her adopted parents and their biological son, and she loves all of them! Her remaining family died escaping Ala Mhigo and her adopted grandparents had all passed on before she'd even gotten to Gridania, so she never met them. She vaguely recalls not really liking her mother's father, but can't recall why. (He was just a grumpy, argumentative fellow.)
Satoto - Satoto doesn't much like Anaëlle (amusingly enough, Marcellain's younger sister) and her partners, Hezzwyb and Aldwyn. They dote heavily on their first born triplets and their youngest (unexpected) child, and their middle child kind of was neglected in that department. Wilfram was born just after Satoto and was about 4 when Satoto was adopted, so they grew up thick as thieves and he looks up to her and to Kell. Two years after Satoto arrived, Wilfram's sister Aphie was born and his parents all paid attention to her instead of him. So she kind of looks down her nose at them on his behalf.

3 - Flash (Extra Credit)
It had taken her some time in her youngest years to realize not everyone remembered things the way she did. How could one so young recall in such vivid detail? She could not, of course. Such jests were hardly befitting a child of Sharlayan!
She remembered each prospective parent who'd turned away at her rebellious nature. She remembered the looks from the head of the orphanage, shaking her head as yet another walked away. She played pattycake with the other children and remembered the tacky feeling of her father's cooling blood on her hands.
Satoto was born out of duty, not love, but she knew what love was. It was the gleam in her father's eyes as he spun her around. The joy in his voice as she called him Papa. It was the arms that had held her tightly to him, hiding her even as the beast tore him apart.
They had said she couldn't remember her father's death so many times, she had almost started to believe them. The small, sullen Lalafell was only five summers old, but she was already resigned to never being believed…
But then she met Nadehzda.
"Hello, Satoto. The Matron told me you were avoiding meeting me. I've been looking forward to it, so I'm glad I caught you."
The Hrothgar looked the picture of a mother, hair back in a braid and a wide smile. Her clothes were worn, but tidy, and dirty in spots that pointed towards garden or farm work. Satoto had said nothing, just watching instead.
Nadehzda had just chuckled, "She said you were tough little one. I think you'll fit right in. What do you say? Would you like come home with me?"
The warmth in her eyes was the warmth in her father's and all she could do was nod.
-----------------------------
Satoto shook her head, clearing it from that flash of reminiscing. Ahead of her, the road stretched, and barring her way was a Highlander who clearly didn't recognize the attire she wore.
"I said, why don't you head on home, little girl!"
Satoto only smiled at him and turned around without a fight. She hardly had the training to deal with the friends he had nearby. She had knowledge she could pull from for smaller groups or single opponents, but not for five or more roegadyn and highlanders lurking about menacingly.
She'd try another route that she recalled from her maps and see how her luck held. And if it didn't… Well, her brother was only a call away.

Hii !! Asking with full curiosity, what's Satoto and Dashishi's deal...
OMG OC LORE QUESTION TIME??? IM HONORED oh god that's loaded
Satoto is one of Keron's leading neuroscientists/psychiatrists and he Very much has a kind of mad scientist half life kind of vibe. He'd do almost anything just to see what happens and then take notes while giggling to himself. He has no empathy, and a lot of blood on his hands, always eager to see the next new discovery. The upper echelons value him very much for his work so his bullshit and lack of decorum is generally tolerated.
Dashishi is one of the five Marshals of the Empire, and highly revered for his status and military achievements. Satoto technically works beneath him, but he's kind of got his own branch of study. Dashishi usually doesn't care much about decorum - he's not a hardass about all of the politicking and status, hates it really. He's a tired old fart.
HOWEVER
Dashishi's daughter, Umeme! She went through something horrible, awful, no good, and it left her mind horribly horribly scattered. Catatonic. Ordinarily, they might be rid of her, or do something else that doesn't waste resources. But this is the Marshal's child, you see. Special status.
So she is placed in Satoto's care! To help her heal without any mad experiments or mind invasion that might violate her vulnerable state. It's very much a decision made under duress - Satoto follows his orders, as he doesn't have a death wish, but Dashishi doesn't really trust him. Satoto already talks and prattles about the unique nature of her situation like she's a new science project. Obligate work buddies.

2 - Bark
The tree was rough under her hands, small fingers tracing over the ridges in the bark. Satoto smiled at the familiar feeling.
Though the tree was far from home, there had been one growing on the island she'd come to call home. Her father, Sindri, had planted the persimmon tree when her oldest brother Ibi had been born and it had grown well. This specimen was much younger, but no less nostalgic for the feeling.
Diospyros, the name came unbidden to her mind and she dutifully added it to her notes. Not that she needed to, with how well she could recall trivia about plants, but it felt good to preserve the knowledge from a world long past. It was the least she could do as the only one who remembered.
When the Warrior of Light awoke to the Blessing of Light placed upon him by Hydaelyn, so too had she awoken to memories of a life lived millennia in the past. The memories of a life spent as Kostas hadn't been the most pleasant of experiences, but these days it was no different than recalling a memory of her own.
It just so happened that he'd had just as much of a love for plants as she did. The sight of leaf or flower or even bark, much less the feel of it, was all she needed to identify the plant. Not that she'd found anything she didn't know yet, but learning what they were called in a previous life was something that was just hers.
Perhaps one day she'd present the knowledge to the Forum, but as all these plants had names currently, it would be odd to provide yet another… but perhaps there could be a reason. Someday.

1 - Envoy
Kell rocked forward on his toes, testing the fit of the new shoes. They pinched at his toes slightly, an unfamiliar shape on his feet that he'd eventually adjust to. He hoped…
He was set to attend some sort of banquet and dine with the Admiral, someone who had hardly spoken more than a few sentences to him and seemed to think him a hero… he supposed he'd saved a good many lives with the information he'd uncovered, but… "I didn't do anything more than wave an axe around!! It was Y'shtola who found the clues. Baderon who translated the note! Why do I have to dress up and go to this..?"
"Because the Admiral asked for you, of course. You can't just say no to her! I'm not even important and I'd show if she asked me." Satoto sat, feet swinging, on the bed, her head following him as he moved.
Belatedly, Kell realized he'd been pacing, his arms crossed and ears low. He paused, trying to calm his nerves. It didn't work and he just ended up tapping his foot, almost thumping with the agitation building up. Satoto trying to hold in her laughter in wasn't helping.
"Fine! I'll go, but I don't like it. I don't want be a hero, I just want to help people out a bit and see the world." Kell knew he was pouting, he probably sounded petulant as a matter of fact.
Satoto stood, helping him fix the bow he'd put on to tie the outfit together better. Instead of armor and an axe, he'd go into battle with fitted slacks and a vest that his sister assured him would impress. He squared his shoulders, took a deep breath, and hoped this would hurt less than the fight with the Voidsent had.
-------------------------------------
When he next saw the light, Baderon was not the face he expected to see. A cheery grin and a chipper voice that cut through the last dregs of unconsciousness, "Mornin', sunshine. All a bit much fer ye, was it?"
Kell sat up, holding his head, "What happened..?"
"...What 'appened? Ah, ye don't remember, then." Baderon clapped a hand on Kell's shoulder, "Ye keeled over in the middle o' the banquet, an' caused a right stir. 'Ad to carry ye back to the Wench meself. Well, I say “carry”...'twas more a matter o' draggin' an' rollin'. Too much cake, I reckon."
Kell tried to protest, as he'd hardly eaten a thing, but Baderon was already moving on.
"Anyroad, don't fret─'tis little wonder ye was exhausted after everythin' ye've been through lately. Yer little nap seems to 'ave put some color back in yer cheeks, though, so I'll leave ye to it."
Kell nodded, since he was surr he couldn't get a word in edgewise. Baderon did so love to yap. He waved as the man started for the door, but paused before he could open it.
"...Bugger! I almost forgot: the Admiral wants to 'ave a word with ye. When ye feel up to it, talk to Zanthael an' 'e'll let ye in to the command room. Oh, an' stay awake, eh? I'm told ol' Merlwyb was in the middle o' tellin' ye a story when ye started snorin' last time, an' I doubt she'd look kindly on it if ye repeated the trick!"
Kell swore to himself and dragged himself out the bed. Better to face this before he had to deal with Satoto (who would probably be worried out of her head). He still hadn't told her about the visions and the voice speaking to him. The Mothercrystal, it claimed to be, and he couldn’t deny the majesty of what he'd seen. The powers he had gained from it…
First, the Admiral. Then he could talk to Satoto.
-------------------------------------
Kell was still reeling and it had been hours…
Envoy?! Personal envoy of the Admiral?!? He was going to have to deal with even more leaders now… Leaders of whole citystates! It wasn't hero work, thankfully, but it was just as tedious!
He… at least had access to the airship network now. That would help with getting around. It was probably worth the hassle. Hopefully…
Kell was so lost in his thoughts, he didn't see Satoto before they nearly collided. It was a simple flash of insight and some footwork from the lalafell that saved them both. "Kell! There you are, been looking for you everywhere!"
Kell took a deep breath. Time to tell everything that had happened so far…

🌟 = Who is your muse’s favorite family member, why? (Satoto)
Kell would say that he's her favorite, but she'd have to disagree (he's her favorite to tease though!)
Satoto's favorite is actually the family member closest to her in age, Wilfram (followed in a close tie by Wil's older sister Marie and her brother Kell).
She treats him as a brother as they grew up together, partly just from being on the same small island but also because Wil's parents paid more attention to his older siblings (triplets born 6 years prior) and once he was old enough to do some things on his own, he spent a lot of time with the barely older Satoto who had just been adopted. He calls her Sasa, even though he's more than capable of saying it normally now!
Satoto finds Wil to be bright and witty, with an adventurous streak to match her own. Though he has no desire to be a gleaner like her, he doesn't want to stay on the farm either. His goal is to become a well-known landscape artist (and he gets to train with the artist in Idyllshire eventually!) He 100% ends up travelling with Satoto to sketch/paint far-flung areas where she's seeking plant specimens, just like he used to follow her around the island and draw whatever it was she was digging up. She loves plants, he loves bugs (especially showing them off to people). He's the best sibling a girl could have! :D

Outside of Satoto and Ran, my XIV character names are re-used from the first OCs I really ever had. Kell isn't actually my oldest, even though he's my main, he's the youngest of my re-used ones!
Kell:
His name comes from a book character (Kelsier, from Mistborn) whose nickname was Kell and I loved it. It doesn't especially mean anything to me, but it is a favorite book series/character. His original incarnation was a timid young artist who was surviving an apocalypse scenario (essentially... it's complicated XD feel free to ask) I love both versions of him lots!
The name was lore compliant when he was a Lalafell and even though I fanta'd/retconned that and made him Viera it still works! He was born outside of a Viera tribe, so he just... got a name. (His dad still said it was fine if he ever wanted to change it, but he doesn't.)
Quinn:
Quinn's name originally came from Sliders, where I fell in love with it. The name is tied with Tobias for "would 100% name a child this if I wanted to have one". The origin isn't special, but for the name just immediately clicked as a "Love this, want it forever" thing. She was a character I'd made for a friends world that I tried to develop and then became my main in the same world that Kell was written for (he was my second there).
Her name is technically not lore compliant, BUT there's a reason. With a Hellsguard father and a Sea Wolf mother, they compromised on the name - Hellsguard in structure, but with the old tongue as the Sea Wolves use. As a baby, she was called Gryne for the color of her hair and earned her full name due to her tendency to climb into tall trees - Cwaen Tyrn (Pine Tower). [Okay, I found something that would be close enough to excuse calling her Quinn....]
When she was brought to Gridania after her parents died, she didn't know how to spell the name and the way the others said it sounded close enough... so she ended up becoming Quinn instead.
Satoto:
Satoto is fully original to XIV and actually was named through the name generator. Though her name is lore compliant and doesn't really have any ties to anything, I still love how it sounds and I wasn't going to skip on her just because her names so simple XD <3 <3
Karra:
Karra is another OC in the same vein as Quinn! She started in a friends story and warped into the post-apoc story, becoming someone totally different there. I actually don't have a clue where her name came from.... It was one that just came to me when trying to name the character. She's became my favorite grump of a character, very tell it as it is and take no shit.
As a Viera, from the First no less, her name isn't super compliant to Forest names.... she hadn't left the forest until a strange occurrence in ShB pulled her to the Source. It's possible Karra isn't her forest name at all and its the name she adopted when she was finally asked for one. I know her and her general story/personality before she ended up on the Source, but I haven't gone into much with the aftermath yet so I'm fuzzy there~
Sarangerel:
So lore compliant it could have been from the character creation name generator, but I actually researched for this one. Ran is named after moon light for the striking dual horn colors she started with as a child - all xaela scaled, but with an additional set of non-standard horns in raen colors. So dark with light - moon light. Cirina helped Kell pick the name~
She's the newest character idea I had, though originally she existed just as a child (made for a writing prompt).... She's morphed into a whole Thing. She's from the Bad Future that G'Raha left behind. How's she here? No clue, but she is!
WoL QotD: What made you choose your WoL's name? Does it have any important meaning or did it just sound nice?
Follow up: Is it lore accurate? If it isn't, why not?

Kell is pretty open with his boundaries, but is also a bit anxious so while he's fine with hugs even from strangers, he has trouble vocalizing that still and often just defaults to polite handshakes. With friends, he respects their boundaries but typically is arm-over-the-shoulders hugging if it's cool. (His loved ones get cheek kisses in public~)
Quinn, as a very tall Roegadyn, used to be somewhat reserved. Nowadays she's very much in people's space, greeting with firm handshakes/arm clasping, right there with the hug. She'll back off it makes someone uncomfortable, but sometimes it takes her a little bit to realize. Unless you're an asshole, then she loves staying close enough to unsettle.
Satoto prefers only to have contact with family, including those she has added to her personal found family. She's small and she will kick your shins or stab you if you keep overstepping. She's friendly enough, but if she doesn't know you it's a smile and a wave.
wolqotd
Your WoL’s physical boundaries with strangers? How natural is it for them to shake hands? Hug? Bonus: the same but with friends/loved ones.

Kell: As it's already a pretty short name, Kell just tends to be called by name. His mom loves to call him her "little popoto", though, because for some reason he used to use the popoto field exclusively for hide and seek. There were better places! He doesn't really remember why he only hid there, but it happened enough that he earned the nickname. Outside of that, there's really no nicknames, just the endearments used by Thancred and Urianger. (And Ryne calls him Dad.)
Quinn: Quinny to her brother and sometimes even her adopted parents. She doesn't like anyone else using it, though. It may be a common cute version of her name, but her brother used it first, so it's just for the family to use. She hangs around at the Archer's guild when in the area and not doing things for Kell, since she still has friends there. She's earned the moniker Quickshot, though she absolutely hates it. (So of course, Guydelot uses it a lot!)
Satoto: Sasa to her best buddy/"little" bro, Wil. She doesn't actually mind others using it, but won't introduce herself with it. Erenville calls her Sato, not as some sort of work relationship thing, but actually as a sign of their closeness. He asked if it was alright beforehand too, which she appreciated! Most of the rest of her family doesn't shorten her name, but she's often called Bean at home. (She's just a little bean! Smallest of them all!! Nade has a habit of calling her kids by produce names, apparently....)
Does your WoL go by any nicknames - and how do they feel about them?
