From left to right, top to bottom: Satraphine, Jeanne-Thérèse, Sparrow, Lyde, Harrier, Eleonora, Étoile, Namanyla, Zoltan.
I decided that the next chapter of my Étoile x Astarion fic that's been in limbo forever could use some more dialogue / context and that this is why it wasn't feeling right to me. So I'm thinking I'll include Étoile and Shadowheart discussing who they were travelling with before the nautiloid abduction and do my best to use that to give Astarion even more introspection, as I do, for comparison with Szarr family oc's and his siblings and whatever.
This meant giving myself more excuses for more oc's.
Étoile is 166 at the start of bg3 and has been in Baldur's Gate for 30 years. Presumably working in the Adventurer's Guild for much, if not all of that time.
Namanyla is my head of the Adventurer's Guild oc. She and Étoile don't / didn't interact much — she's got shit to do, nobles to petition, factions to moderate, but Étoile wasn't an entirely unknown asset / peer. She would know them to look at them, and their work on paper, if nothing else. I would place her around 462.
Satraphine is about 234 at the start of bg3, she's an archfey warlock and whether because of wanderlust, or because of being incidentally a fugitive for various reasons, or because of requests from her patron, she doesn't spend more than a few weeks at a time in Baldur's Gate, annually or every few years.
She is often, if not always, followed by her partner Jeanne-Thérèse whom she (and Étoile) met through the guild. Jeanne-Thérèse calls Namanyla Auntie and is generally very familiar with authority and the inner workings of the various guilds in the Sword Coast. She's an enchantment wizard and approximately 299 years old, so she says.
Sparrow makes up the last of the four-man party that was Étoile, Satraphine, Jeanne-Thérèse and himself at the time Étoile was taken by the nautiloid. He's the youngest by a large margin at 26 years old, a protector aasimar fighter. He was able to summon his halo and wings in combat, which would reveal his nature to his colleagues, but he used to be able to pass for human as he did not have the facial markings the last time Étoile saw him. Since Étoile's abduction and their reunion in act 3 bg3 there's been An Incident with his brother so that now the facial markings are present and unmistakable.
Sparrow's partner, Lyde (lie-dee), 24, has been a frequent presence at the guild hall since she and Sparrow arrived in town on rumors of his missing twin brother. She makes tea and performs tarot tarokka readings, and gossips up a storm. She worries loudly and loves big and can be a comforting presence to newer adventurers or anyone who's had a hard day.
Corrupted by forces unknown, Sparrow's twin brother Harrier is a fallen aasimar vengeance paladin who is motivated to power and violence for "the greater good." I was playing with the idea of killing him, but instead Sparrow can power-of-friendship him back into society 2+ years post-canon.
Eleonora, 29, is even more naive than Harrier and follows / loves him Despite The Warning Signs. She is based on two characters from something but I'm embarrassed to make it any more obvious than it might be at first glance.
Zoltan, 47, is a receptionist / clerk for the guild. The guy handing out the jobs.
.
I was struggling previously with the observation that the Chosen Three turned who they needed and exactly who they meant to, with Wyll and Karlach being surprises in Avernus, with many being numbers in Baldur's Gate and at Moonrise, and with Gale, Ulder and Minthara as examples of those being specifically selected. Because I could not conceive of a reason I liked for Étoile to be in their radar. But like this, I think Sparrow would stand out and would have been the nautiloid's target at the start of Étoile's journey.
They were setting camp near a quest objective to be ready for whatever it was that was worth Jeanne-Thérèse's (level 13) time, when late in the night Sparrow (level 6) was out reflecting on his brother and Étoile (level 8) rushed their shield to defend him from an unexpected sky tentacle and is magicked away. Leaving Jeanne-Thérèse with Sparrow and Satraphine (level 8) to make the hard reactionary decision to Teleport them away. It does not go well.
Off Target: You and your group (or the target object) appear a random distance away from the destination in a random direction. Distance off target is 1d10 x 1d10 percent of the distance that was to be travelled. For example, if you tried to travel 120 miles, landed off target, and rolled a 5 and 3 on the two d10s, then you would be off target by 15 percent, or 18 miles. The DM determines the direction off target randomly by rolling a d8 and designating 1 as north, 2 as north-east, 3 as east, and so on around the points of the compass. If you were teleporting to a coastal city and wound up 18 miles out at sea, you could be in trouble.
But it does save them from ceremorphosis the bg3 adventure (sad).
I made Satraphine a warlock entirely because her chest looks amazing in this outfit.

What happened to Lyde on getting that thumbprint from Jadus? Looks like a big owch there. :( (handshake for miraluka love)
💕🤝🤝🤝💕 It was indeed a big ouch! That scar is a souvenir from Lyde's first meeting with Darth Jadus; story-wise, it's the one-on-one you have with him before you head to Grathan's. I've always adored that conversation, as it's beautifully voice-acted and does a lot to establish Jadus as this very cryptic and threatening entity. He's more a force of nature than a guy. But I simultaneously find the scene a little bit lacking. While it’s constructed in a manner that lets you read a lot into what Jadus is saying and what the agent might be experiencing, it lacks much of the audiovisual interest displayed in other (namely post-brainwashing) parts of the agent storyline. (Also, let it be known that I ultimately I find Jadus’ actual writing in-game super underwhelming and 100% carried on the back of Stephen Rashbrook’s vocal performance + the headcanoning efforts of the people who were swept off their feet by that same performance, but that’s a topic for another post.) So in Lyde's version of canon, Jadus did his spiel, had her kneel, and then held her still with his presence while he pushed his thumb into her eye socket. It didn't take a lot of doing, since miraluka really just have a thin layer of skin covering those. In wounding her, he solidified and strengthened the imprint of his power left on her body during her “inoculation” by drawing on her feelings of fear and agony in that moment. I liked the idea a lot because it feels like a very Jadus act - heavily symbolic and visually arresting, but, if given prompt medical attention, not actually debilitating in a way that would interfere with his agent’s work. After all, what’s she need those empty sockets for? To see? Pfft. Pfffft.
It was also a way for Jadus to literally mark his territory. Contrary to what in-game dialogue suggests, Lyde did have affiliations outside of Intelligence, by Sith standards: familial ones. Her Sith mother was recently deceased, but her grandfather, a Jedi-turned-Sith, was still kicking. Given I haven’t finished typing up a concise Aniteon twins backstory, I haven’t talked about Darth Grandad on this blog, but tl;dr he’s a huge piece of shit who washed his hands of Lyde near-entirely when she proved weak in the Force as compared to her sister. Choosing her as a personal tool was Jadus very publicly claiming a resource passed over by another Sith. Consider it a triple-flex on Lyde, Imperial Intelligence, and any other Sith who might be interested in interfering in his business with either.
also it looks sick as fuck & in Lyde’s Hand of Jadus AU she’s got both sockets gouged open and on display at ALL times LESGOOOOO

Show me your OCs!
I was tagged by the lovely @serial-chillr - thanks friend! I will do this for my OC Tristan Trevelyan :)
Tumblr media
This INCREDIBLE, GORGEOUS ART THAT I’M STILL LOSING MY MIND OVER was done by the amazing @schoute!
1. His favourite thing to do when he has free time?
Tristan loves horse back riding, and he used to do that a lot back when he lived in Ostwick, but now with the Inquisition keeping him busy, he hasn’t had time to do that for fun as much. Other favourite pastime activities are playing Wicked Grace with Varric at the Herald’s Rest, enriching his dagger collection, and of course sharing a drink with Dorian in his quarters... among other things ;)
2. How did he get his name?
His father was an avid reader of poetry, and the famous Orlesian romance story Tristan de Lydes was his favourite poem. His middle name, Remy, was chosen by his mother, who is also quite fond of Orlesian names and thought it would sound sophisticated, but Tristan absolute hates it and never uses it.
3. How would they react if there was an impromptu bout of mud wrestling at Skyhold? What about if one of the companions challenged them?
“A bout of mud wrestling? Truly? Is that some sort of dreadful Fereldan joke? Thanks, but I think I’ll pass,” is absolutely what he would say if he saw that happening in Skyhold. He would totally grab a drink and watch though ;)
Now, if someone challenged him... Tristan would never back down from a challenge, so if the companion riled him up enough, he would definitely give it a go. Just to prove them wrong. He is salty, that one XD
4. Would they rather travel or stay at home?
Tristan loves travelling and seeing new places, but only if he can do it in comfort and style. He hates camping and is not very fond of nature, so if travelling includes visiting a city and sleeping in a nice, warm bed at an inn by the end of the day, he’d definitely be up for it!
This was so much fun! Tagging forward to @thesaltyhealer, @badpriestessofbuttsburgh, @pikapeppa, @schoute, @midnightprelude, @faerieavalon, @tessa1972, @dafan7711, @welcome-to-gaydas, @dickeybbqpit, @jeannedarcprice, @andrasste, @darlingrutherford, @in-arlathan, @pookyhuntress, @freethemages, @thejeeperswife and anyone else that would like to play! I’d love to know more about your OCs :D

• | find the word!!
thank you for the tag @blind-the-winds! my username was spelt wrongly, jsyk
but anyhow, my words were feral, fog, fracture, free, and focus! i,,, apparently didn’t have most of these words, whoops
i’ll tag uhhh @emelkae @marigold-clouds @mjjune apologies if you didn’t want to be tagged! + anybody else who’d like to join in, i suppose :D! if you’d like, your words are fry, melody, shiver, long & fish. if you can’t find those words, gimme a little fun fact about a wip of your choosing :>!
FOG (Gentle Herb Brewery, WIP: Caffeine-Sponsored Macchiato C3)
Usually, Lydes likes to vary his ‘activation’ of his powers. Most of the time, he sprays fog; the kind that’s only slightly better than the cheap kids toys at $5 a bottle instead of $3 a bottle, but works amazingly in large amounts, seeing as they smell slightly fishy and have too much chemicals in them. Then, in the fog, he’ll get close enough to say his starting words — again, he likes to vary those too — and let the illusions begin.
FOCUS (Isekai ??? Shots, Working Title WIP: A Flowery Path)
…And it was mind control. With the Allen dukedom’s power and both Rui Ying and Han Sungyeol digging around, they managed to find old records on ancient powers. Some of the records on light powers noted that the bearers of said powers were very adored and more favoured by people, to an extent where it was unnatural to anyone watching from a further distance.
A few mentioned how people were more likely to do absurd things that they would’ve never done before, all for the sake of the bearers of light powers. These were rare and inbetween, and Han Sungyeol suspected that they wanted to prevent themselves from being silenced for ‘defamation of character’.
With that settled, however, they focused on getting all of their plans together before the ball towards the end of the school year, and the ball that would start the condemnation event of the ‘villainess’.
FERAL
none? okay! okay.
for TFWSTS below (which will not be something i’m posting on this tumblr anytime soon), it’s essentially a quick transmigration novel (see: any QT c-novels) featuring a genre-savvy mc with something to keep going on for. fun fact! he’s technically “based” (and by based, i mean put into different clothes and called it a day) on another OC of mine
FREE (TFWSTS, Arc 1 C2)
While Zhang Yunyi and Sheng Han had sweet tooths, Yan Lingzhui preferred a milder cuisine.
“Is there a way to change my tastebuds?” he asked the System.
The System did a quick check. [ There are 103 items that can dull your senses, 24 that can change it, 45- ]
“One that can make a specific part duller will do just fine, thanks. How much would that cost?”
[ It’s free ^_^! Like I said, new hosts get more perks to make things a little easier for them first! In this case, something as simple as this is free for this world only! ]
FRACTURE (Gentle Herb Brewery, WIP: A Sprinkling of Pepper)
When they were six, Polus gave them a fracture.
It seemed like an accident. Polus had only let his powers get out of control for a bit, and poor Kove was caught in the crossfire.
They had the medical costs fully paid for by Polus’ father, a form of hush money to keep this on the down low, lest it hurt Polus’ reputation. And really, children jumped from thing to thing so easily; Kove already forgave Polus when he gave a hug!
But after that day, Kove stopped hanging out with Polus, preferring to run away from the older whenever possible.
He couldn’t forget the words uttered to him, disguised as a sweet apology: “Next time, you should cry more for me.”

Ever wanted to know who the ruler of a certain Orlesian city is? Need connections for your Orlesian OC, but weren’t sure where to start? Look no further! Here I have attempted to compile a list of the named & notable Orlesians found in the Dragon Age games, primarily those that are alive during the events of the games & tie-in novels  ( although a few historical figures are also included for reference. )  Note that it only includes individuals; families that are referred to by the family name, but with no individuals singled out, are not included, nor are unnamed NPCs. Characters that live in Orlais but would likely identify with heritage from elsewhere are not included ( i.e. Josephine would be considered Antivan rather than Orlesian. )  Lastly, some characters may fit under more than one subheading, but are only listed once  ( i.e. Gaspard is both royalty and a chevalier, but is only under the former heading. )
Shoutout to Erran for the Fereldan and DAO NPC List, which served as inspiration to compile a similar reference for Orlais. Given the scarcity of Orlesian blogs in the rp fandom, this won’t serve as a masterlist of rpers, but I can make a second list if that interests anyone!
List will be periodically updated, as it’s by no means complete yet! If you notice a particular character is missing, feel free to reblog and mention the name(s) in a comment / the tags on a reblog, or send it in a message. Reference a source if possible  ( game, war table mission, book, etc. ) And with that ...
