As someone who headcanons her WoL to get seasick, I made sure to note down how many canonical boat rides are there in Dawntrail so far. (Also Wuk Lamat, you are the real MVP for getting seasick too! Rispale loves you for it.) 1) Boat ride from Sharlayan to Tural. Rispale first said that he might get over his sea sickness finally only to fail spectacularly. Krile later asks him to talk to Wuk Lamat for playing her sea sickness down but that also fails spectactularly. And that scene where he is a badass in the storm? Yeah, that did NOT happen. It was bumbling around and later throwing up on deck. 2) The boat ride that is in the first dungeon where you have to fight. Haha, I love that scene. Alphinaud is like "Don't worry, we leave the deck to Krile and Rispale." with Rispale going "Alphinaud, are you nuts?!" "You are still packing a punch even if you are nauseous." So yeah, both Rispale and Wuk Lamat had to keep it together on there. I like to think they took a bit of medicine to make it more bearable but because Rispale takes it more often he got nauseous quicker. He needed a moment before the first boss. 3) And then after the dungeon ended Erenville gets you with the boat again. Rispale did not manage to hold the contents of his stomach. It was all too much. 4) They then have a boat ride back to the capital of Tulliyolal (argh, I am sure I am mispronouncing that city all the time). That was the one where Wuk Lamat finally admits to her obvious sea sickness, so Rispale just told her "We got this." only for both of them to again fail spectacularly. Boats are just not their forte. 5) The next boat ride is not seen but I am pretty sure it happened because we have the Elezen goldsmith with us (forgot his name, but it started with F, I think?). I guess our two sea sickies weren't too happy about so many boat rides in such short succession. 6) And that one is also offscreen I guess, but during the kidnapping arc we fix the boat so we probably used it to go to the island where Wuk Lamat was held. I guess Rispale did his best to keep it together because of the seriousness of the situation. Doesn't mean he was not nauseous. Loooong break after that. No boat rides at all. Just a balloon ride. The next boat ride we have... 7) To reach the Level 99 dungeon you use something that is not a boat but still is on the water and looks rough as hell in the cutscene. I guess Rispale and Wuk Lamat had to comfort each other after it was over. 8) And that one is my favourite! The gondola ride that G'raha Tia invites you to! It is set at this romantic ride just the two of us, but all I can see is Rispale making a face of horror upon invited and his thoughts going wild "Your crush just invited you to a gondola ride. You cannot say not to that! But you are so going to throw up. Don't you dare say no! Don't throw up!" Inner turmoil galore. It even goes so far in my head that G'raha Tia notices (obviously he has to know about Rispale's sea sickness) and goes like "Oh, but because you get seasick so easily, we don't have to..." where Rispale then goes "No no no no, I can handle a little nausea." And then it makes it feel VERY canon that the WoL is not uttering a single word while G'raha Tia talks because Rispale is just too busy trying his hardest to keep his nausea in check and not throw up. I hope there are more boat rides in the continuation. They are fun to imagine with my poor seasick Warrior of Light.

I need a post where I post my WoL's, Rispale, different drips. Let's start with the current monk outfit.

Stormblood Summoner outfit is peak and I hasn't reached this height ever again. So far.

Warrior. I love how their armour is often so skimpy and then covered in fur. I just love how it screams "brute strength". How is this a tank class?! I love tanking as Warrior ^^

Current botanist outfit. I still need to dye the hat.

Ishgard crafter gear looks fantastic. Especially after I got rid of the ugly creen and dyed it red. I also want to level up Astrologian and Machinist but they don't have their drip yet.

OC lore fact of the day:

Rispale gets horribly sea sick. He just never managed to escape it. The moment he has to board a ship or a boat he gets dizzy and nauseous and usually has to throw up. For this reason he really dislikes to travel via boat.

He tries to get around with some anti nausea medicine but that can only give a short relief. On longer boat rides he even needs some aether sharing from his friends because it is so hard for him to keep food down.

I think I am going to make an OC or Blorbo lore fact of the day now. Let's start with a Rispale lore fact of the day: Rispale is not an easy patient if he suffers from a mild but annoying sickness (something like an UTI or a minor cold). He gets grumpy and irritable easily which can exhaust his caretaker for the time. He is pretty sorry about that once he is healthy again though.

Aww, thank you. Thankfully it was just a scare. The doctor also said that checking it out was the right decision with my husband's history. That is also why I didn't hesitate to call the emergency number. Even though my husband gave me half a heart attack with it. And now to the... OC Questions

40) Is there anyone or anything that instantly instills fear in them? Alisaie holding up the cotton swab. No, let me explain xD Rispale is a cat boy and therefore has cat ears. Every cat owner knows how CRUSTY those things can get and that it is a struggle to keep them clean sometimes. And also what HUGE drama queens some cats are about it. So Rispale has the habit of not cleaning his ears because he finds the whole process to be highly uncomfortable which in turn of course leads to itchy ears so Alisaie took it upon herself to give him an ear cleaning each time the itchiness shows. And of course he is a HUGE drama queen about it. She and Alphinaud have to find new tricks every time to get the ear cleanings done. And because for Rispale it means he will be incapicated somehow and then have to sit through the sheer horror of having the crust removed from his ears, the sheer sight of a cotton swab in Alisaie's hands makes him go into flight mode even if it isn't meant for him. 28) Are they ticklish? Good question... have never thought about it. But I think yes. He will get revenge with his tail though so better not tickle him too much. 14) Do they have any piercings? If no, would they consider ever getting one? Rispale has both of his ears pierced. Yes, his cat ears. That probably hurt as hell. I like to think he got the earrings somewhen in his early teen years because he wanted to match his Mom who also wore earrings. Other piercings he isn't too interested in getting. The earrings are more than enough. Thank you for letting me talk about my FF Cutie ^^

18) Do they have a certain skill they are particularly proud of? Yeah, he can play the piano and he can do it pretty well. While he is playing it mostly for fun, he often gathers a crowd if he plays at a public place like a bar and that makes him pretty proud. 19) How would a stranger they just met describe them? "He was really helpful. Didn't even have to ask before he offered to help me out with my errands. Such a nice young lad. ...What?! That was the Warrior of Light?! And I have bothered him with my pointless problems?!" ...That actually happens in-game quite a few times exactly like that xD 20) How would a close friend they've known for a long time describe them? "Rispale may feel a little dense at time but he has a heart of gold. He wears his emotions on his sleeve but that also means he is really good at figuring out how others around him feel. There is no way hiding anything from him. He loves to eat and it is a joy see him discover new foods. I swear, half of his reason to travel is so that he can find new foods to try. Sometimes he overdoes it a little but he always finds his joyful self back, even after being indisposed for a while. Oh, you probably won't take him on a boat if you don't have to. Rispale gets horribly sea sick. You'll spent most of your time stroking his back and soothing him from having to throw up so much. If there is a threat, any threat, he is there to pick up the fight. He loves a good fight. I think he would even fight if he would have nobody to protect, just for the thrill of it."

If your OCs were gryphons, what would they look like? (for example, the typical eagle/lion or a different combo?)

Oh, now that is an interesting combo! Can we combine each mammal with each bird? Tempest front is a raven then and his back is a sheep. A raven because they are kinda a constant in Dark Souls and Tempest always has been a sheep as a furry in my headcanon ^^ Lum's fursona is actually a bat, so I wonder if we can have a bat for the front? If yes, then totally a bat. His back would probably be a normal housecat. Which also means he is a small gryphon, not bigger than an actual house cat. Yeah, you cannot ride on him, but you can pick him up ^^ Kuro would be a fancy bird at the front, like a peacock or something. And his back would totally be a bunny. A white one ^^ And Rispale is actually the classic gryphon. Eagle in the front, lion in the back.

Weirdly specific but helpful character building questions

Thank you, my dear ^^ 55. What’s something they’re expected to enjoy based on their hobbies / profession that they actually dislike / hate? Well, everyone thinks that Tempest must love to eat if he likes to cook so much but undead Tempest can't taste anymore and therefore really really dislike eating because it just reminds him of what he lost. He has much more fun to watch other's eat the meals he cooks up ^^ 53. Who would / do they believe without question? Kuro, his manager Aya, also Kyder and Strawberry. He has no reason to believe that any of them would lie to him. Well, he might be a little distrustful at Kyder when he asks her if she needs something and she says "no" because we both know she has a terrible habit of hiding it ^^ 49. Would they eat something they find gross to be polite? No. Kuro is over acting like someone he isn't and that is true for everything. He won't eat something that he thinks is gross to be polite. He would say why he cannot eat it though and leave it at the explanation. He might also do a few jokes about that he already has eaten enough dick and isn't hungry anymore xD 12. What’s something that makes them laugh every single time? Be specific!

Each time Alphinaud's wood collecting skills are brought up. Okay, I shall be specific, so some context. In Heavensward, Rispale travels with Alphinaud and Estinien. At this point in the story, Alphinaud is still a little snobby brat (he has character development) and Estinien is a hardened dragoon. When they stop for the night they give Alphinaud like the easiest job and that is collecting fire wood. And he does it and is so PROUD of it and I shit you not, in the game, Estinien and Alphinaud leave no opportunity pass without making fun of that incident and talking about Alphinaud's wood collecting skills. Rispale just always have to laugh about this. Especially when he thinks about how those two started out ^^

As some of you figured, I really got myself into FF14 over the past year. I actually started playing it last year in an attempt to connect with my husband and because I heard some music from it and got interested in it, especially because you have a really long free trial. What I didn't know is that it would start to really occupy my brain. And yes, I feel like a hypocrite because in the past I lamented that people who got into FF14 dropped all their other interests. At least I can promise you that I didn't drop my other interests. I still love Soulsborne and Hollow Knight and Made in Abyss and Pokémon and Harvest Moon (and I am getting myself into Lies of P, so this might get added to the pile). Anyway, when I first started the game, I didn't know who my Warrior of Light is. I just created a character that I found pleasing to look at and gave him a cute name (Rispale Yavrukedi). And then I stared at stuff that didn't tell me anything. Guardian Deity? Tribe?! I don't mind, I am just letting my friend decide and I am taking the Keeper of the Sun tribe because I want him to have warm colours and slit eyes. So then I started playing the game and slowly got into the lore. However, who my WoL is was never really clear to me. I played through ARR, HW, SB, ShB and then I started Endwalker and he still was just "my player character". It actually happened around the post story of Endwalker when I figured it out. And it was when I sat in the tram listening to music and my mind wandering because I had 35 minutes until my stop. There was a thing that bothered me. The guardian deity. I chose Thaliak. Why in the world should my OC chose Thaliak? He is a monk, Rhalgr would have made so much more sense! So why is someone who likes to pummel his enemies to death worshipping Thaliak of all people?! And then it came to me: Sharlayan! That is where they worship Thaliak! My WoL hails from Sharlayan! But he isn't an archon or one of Baldesion's scholars and they clearly never saw him before? So I had to find a work around. So I found a story that goes pretty much like this.

- His mom managed to get into Sharlayan because of some promising research and she was allowed citizenship because of it. However, she didn't knew she was pregnant at the time (the acting Nunh probably knocked her up). After discussing it with the authorities, they allowed the baby to stay and gain citizenship. That was Rispale. Of course back then his name was slighty different because of Miqo'te names, so it was actually H'rispale Tia. And yes, he hated the H letter because it could hurt the throat to pronounce it. - So Rispale grew up in Sharlayan being raised by his mom while she handled work. Everything changed however shortly before the seventh umbral calamity (you know, Dalamud and Bahamut). The research of Rispale's mom turned out to fall together and was disproven and at the same time, the Bahamut ether had some effects on her health and she wasn't feeling very well a lot of the time. Is that really a thing? I don't know, but if Bahamut ether can turn Coerthas into having winter forever and ever, then I can headcanon that it can make people sick. - Rispale had enrolled in the academia at the time, but because of his mother's sickness and her funds being cut (I am going to be mean to Sharlayan in this backstory), he had to take a job. He decided to work at the Last Stand. However, having a job and trying to keep up with the academy just wasn't possible.

Especially because Rispale lacked the genius status of a lot of the Sharlayan researchers. It was a lot more of hard work for him to understand stuff. Some people at the academy actually looked down on him because of that. - So he pretty much did sacrifice sleep to work and study until all that caught up to him and he collapsed at work. He decided to quit the academy then, having the feeling that they wouldn't really miss him because of how beyond average he was in his studies. - That made him really mad at Sharlayan. Not only did they do nothing to help with the whole Dalamud situation, you only could make a proper living there with the right research or if you would manage to get into the council. People like him and his mom were left struggling. - Of course he could have joined the gleamers, but he really disliked Sharlayan at that time and wanted to get away. However, he felt responsible for his mom and stayed for her sake until she couldn't fight her sickness anymore and died. - That was the last stretch he needed to leave Sharlayan. He decided to drop the H in his name and change the Tia surname to Yavrukedi. He then handled the paper work (far too much in his opinion) to be allowed to leave and started his exilant status. - Rispale deciced to travel to Ul'dah because he wanted to learn an art that was as far away from Sharlayan as possible and being a pugilist felt also like the right way to get all this frustration out. Well and that is where the game started ^^ Some things about him:

He really likes if someone scritches his ears.

He dislikes having his tail touched.

He will platonically cuddle with everyone he likes, but doesn't really get that for others it is not automatically platonic and freaked some of his friends out when he suddenly cuddled them.

Big eater, especially after he found out that the rest of the world is not having Archon Loafs as staple food. Has some stomach chub as a result.

His left eye is really light sensitive since the seventh calamity, so he grew his hair out to cover it for protection.

Is a lot more vocal than his in game version. Also sometimes likes to do terrible jokes (Lyse is the only one who ever laughed about them. He misses her.)

Speaking of Lyse, he meets up with her regularly to spar.

Considers the twins his little siblings.

Will sometimes rope Estinien in doing hunts with him. Estinien is actually doing the same. For some reason they just seem to know where the other one is.

Has a crush on G'raha Tia but is not acting on it. Just as G'raha Tia is having a crush on him and does not act on him. They are doing a slowburn and drive Alisaie crazy.

He actually enjoyed his fight with Zenos but in his opinion Zenos would have gone the fight if he just "nicely asked".

Unloaded all his frustration about Sharlayan on Fourchenault post Ultima Thule until Forchenault offered him a fight to settle this. Rispale actually wiped the floor with him. (Man, I wish we could have a fight against Fourchenault in game).

Really dislikes the headaches that come with the echo visions.

Kept it a secret from the archons he's from Sharlayan. Always said he hails from a northern island but doesn't consider it home anymore.

Had to tell the truth once they actually went there during Endwalker. The archons said they wondered because he always seemed to play dumb. And yes, while he couldn't keep up with the usual Sharlayan minds, he still knows quite a bit from having studied a lot. He clearly has more knowledge than the average Eorzean.

He gets seasick extremely easily and it always happens to him. You know that scene where Venat contacts the WoL on the way to Sharlayan? Imagine him hanging over the railing and Venat going "Oh dear, I chose the wrong time." Alright, that was all from the top of my head. Feel free to ask me questions. I don't mind if there are tiny lore mistakes, I am basing it on stuff I found out in game and if the game is allowed to have Alphinaud shut up if Quintus challenges him, I can have my plot holes too ^^

OC Questions

30) Is there something they secretly wish they could do but are too afraid to? Confessing to his crush. He wants to but it somehow does not work really well. Mainly because it is OC x Canon so I want to keep it the slowburn as it is in game (yeah, the ship is basically canon), but I also think that Rispale had quite some trouble getting to terms with his romantic and sexual attraction and that kept him from confessing and even after he came to terms with it... it just doesn't come easily. Will it ruin their friendship? It also doesn't help that the person he has a crush on still has feelings for a dead version of him. 38) Who had the biggest impact in their life, both positive and negative? The biggest impact in his life had definitely Venat, the former Azem, the one who turned to be Hydaelyn. Both positive and negative. Because thanks to meeting her and getting a stable time loop going, he met so many amazing people and went on such a great adventure. But at the same time, there was a lot of pain and suffering involved. But when she asked if the journey has been worthwhile, all he could answer with was an enthusiastic "YES".
