random note about: the underhill siblings fled ireland at the spread of christianity and have lived many lives. they adopted the name ‘underhill’ as an homage to their origins when they came to america circa 200 years ago. mollena is the elder of the two, but has a sensitive nature and often follows lorcan. mollena longs for friendship with others who might not fear her, which led her to seek out the cherry pit.

I haven’t talked about them on this blog yet so it is time for a finlena (finley and mollena) tldr!!!

they are both OCs of mine I’ve had for over a decade, Finley was the first OC I ever made.

Finley is a fey prince of the folk under the hill/dark court/whatever term you want (this is where mollena and lorcan’s made up surname underhill is from). His half sister Felicity convinced him to commit patricide and assume the throne, but now Finley and Felicity are in a tense political civil war after he learned of some of her ulterior motives.

Mollena and Lorcan are unrelated courtless fey, some of the last Folk to be formed by the Old Gods. Mollena takes in Lorcan basically as a son at first, but quickly their relationship becomes more like siblings and close friends. Molly is based off of the Banshee and Lorcan is a bit of an amalgamation of different cultural vampires.

Them being courtless makes Finley obsessed with them and hellbent on gaining their loyalty (Molly) and submission (Lorcan). Specifically his sights set on Mollena as she has powerful death magic and is one of the few creatures alive who can hear at the frequency of his daughter’s voice.

Mollena and Lorcan are mostly uninterested in the court/Finley, and go long gaps of time without interacting with him. Usually something forces them to seek out aid in court and then they have very negotiation heavy interactions with Finley or sometimes Felicity.

Mollena’s tie to Finley definitely starts through his daughter, who she forms a strong bond with. Seeing his relationship with her really shifts her views of the Prince, but their relationship is stonewalled when Finley bans Lorcan from court when his feeding on Fey causes too much discord.

Any details past that differ slightly from story to story like folklore.

Lorcan Underhill 🏍️ 🚬🕶️

Names his motorcycles like he used to name his horses back when they were train robbers. His current ride is Blue Streak.

Wanted an eyebrow piercing but only iron is super effective against him so he used an iron nail to pierce himself.

Still so obsessed with his ex that he has a painting of her in his bedroom and in their living room 🚩 🚩

Likes to read different translations of old celtic lore and arthurian tales because it’s like a game of telephone to him, he likes to see the changes and mistakes adapted by time.

Mollena Underhill 👻⛓️🍾

Neither of them sleep much, but Mollena spends her downtime watching trashy tv. It’s how she tries to stay current with the times.

Mollena is the reason her and Lorcan fled to America, because she was targeted during the European witch trials and nearly burned at the stake because they clasped her in iron before she could phantom out and get away from them.

She uses her banshee shriek to shatter Lorcan’s phone screen when she’s pissed at him. Sometimes he goes through several phones a month.

Because she can’t hold back her shrieks when she gets a premonition, almost anything that’s normally glass in an apartment is replaced with something else in theirs. They have wooden cups instead of glasses, no glass over the art they have framed, windows stay covered, and no mirrors anywhere.
