Happy OC Sunday!
You know what isn't talked about enough? Crosshair as a coach or instructor.
That sweet person with the cooler full of healthy snacks after the game? Nope, that'd be Echo, if anyone.
The encouraging former jock who now wants you to do your best and make friends? That's Hunter.
The smart referee who has all the great strategies and tells you how to follow through? Y'all know that's Tech.
Wrecker would be eating the snacks, yelling at the jock and screeching that the strategies are too hard, and you should just explode something, which is not how you win a baseball game or track meet (though there are popping noises, and you get to throw things).
But Crosshair? Absolutely the gruff, no nonsense, coach. Especially for a sport that requires precision, focus, and independence. Homeboy would be a demon at tennis (singles, of course), golf, and even baseball, to an extent. I could absolutely see him as that psycho pitcher who makers batters break down in tears after multiple strikes.*
Here he is with Blid Chapelle, who I FINALLY drew after almost two years of writing about him and his family in Far Past the Ring!
Blid is a sassy 12-year-old Belter kid who is obsessed with being a soldier. This comes from his parents being veterans (including his mother, Tanke Drummer, standing behind him here), surviving a horrifying war and siege on Ceres, and finally, a fierce desire to protect his family.
Naturally, Crosshair admires the kid. Especially after his actions in Far Past the Ring. In between that and To Guard Against Titans, I could see Crosshair showing Blid how to properly handle a rifle, even one from the Sol system.
Of course, Tanke has to come out and proudly watch her two 'sons' working together. As a gun fanatic herself, she's chuffed beyond measure.
This is also one of the only pictures I have of Tanke looking relaxed and happy and not like she's about to go on a rampage.
*=MLB is coming back in a few days. GO SOX!
