"....The darkening sky... feels familiar and eerie..." The chain grimaced at this as a bitter smile came to her features, unwittingly reminiscing on memories of bygone, hazy times.

@kitxkatrp asked: ❛ don’t touch them. ❜ Xerxes (protecting Sharon and Nadine)
How did this happen? How? The Baskerville's had managed to take control of Pandora, and her power had been sealed along with Equus and Owl from the Rainsworth gate. Why? She could question it all day and night but never get the answer. Yet.
'Don't touch them.'
Her master's words were made loud and clear to her, and it made her panic. Oz had escaped along with Gilbert and Alice.... yet....
Glen had ordered those that remained behind to be killed one by one until the three were found. Until Oz was captured once more. "Don't worry. YOU will be the first to die, so you don't have to worry about seeing the other's meet their end."
"Xerx-nii! Don't!" Sharon's worried voice rose up before she was promptly silenced, a hit to her side that sent her onto her back with a yelp of surprise.
One of the other Baskerville members towered over her and Nadine, both feeling helpless in this moment.
"S-top....!"
"Any last words, Mad Hatter.... no... Xerxes Break?"

@kitxkatrp asked: Send ⏳️ for your muse to meet the younger version of my muse (Xerxes meeting smol Nadine)
The child had just recently entered the Baskerville castle when she noticed the male around one of the hallways, seeming to be sneaking around. None of the other servants or members were around so curiously she went running over just as he was starting to slip out of sight.
"Mister! Wait! You can't be here!"
"Huh?" For a moment she was confused, unable to pinpoint where exactly he'd gone as it seemed he'd disappeared. "Where did he go...?" She wandered about the space for a while before stopping gaze turning to the right.
"....Uhm... Mister...? You can't be here-" She'd found him? Or did he decide to show himself when she was fully away from people?
She did notice something though as she peered at the taller male, the red eye visible. A child of misfortune? She'd heard stories but...
"Are you lost? I-I'm new here but.....I-I can show you the exit if you want?" She wasn't sure why she was offering, normally those here would kill or harm intruders but... something told her he wasn't a danger. Not to her.
"If someone else catches you, y-you could be in big trouble..."

@kitxkatrp asked: failure: What's your OC's greatest failure? Have they been able to move past it? Does anyone else know about it? Nadine
Nadine has many things she regrets or feels she's failed at. Depending on the verse, she has different failures she regrets. However in most of her main and au verses the single greatest failure she feels on her part, is being unable to save herself from her fate. She'd just been a child at the time of her fall, and while as a Baskerville she was able to naturally understand many aspects of her existence, she was unable to free herself from the darkness that swallowed her.
To make matters worse, as a chain that was able to contract out, Nadine is haunted by the thought of her 'original' self being forever stuck there. The nightmares continue to plague her, despite there having no cause or reason to persist.
Truthfully, she doesn't feel like the real her. Like a fake that stole someone's name, face and memories. The failure to be found, the failure to escape, and the failure to her 'human' self all make up something she simply is unable to move past.
Though she has finally opened up about her history, this opinion has not been openly shared. She knows if she spoke a word of it, people would immediately try and tell her it wasn't her fault. That there wasn't anything she could do in that situation. To not beat herself up over it.
But she simply doesn't believe it's true.
To that end, she doesn't feel she's worth the life she's given as a chain. She feels it's just a false extension. That her identity is just a lie. That parading around with those 'false' memories and sense of self is disrespectful to the one who was victimized.

@kitxkatrp asked: 🐛 - An intense nightmare that made them wake up in a cold sweat (Nadine)
"Kyaah~" The child ran around the courtyard without a second thought, enjoying the gentle warm breeze that caused the trees to sway. It seemed peaceful, nothing amiss, or out of place. Nothing lacking and held only warmth.
From one of the walkways she heard a voice calling to her, though it was too far to truly make out whose voice, they were calling her back to the mansion proper.
"Okay~! I'll be right there!"
The child would take two steps in that direction when it suddenly felt like the ground parted beneath her, pure darkness as if an endless maw had opened to swallow the girl.
Before she could let out a shriek of terror or call for help, the darkness would engulf her vision.
"...."
"......."
Eyes would blink open, Nadine finding herself as an adult standing amongst a familiar darkness. She turned around, confused, and opened her mouth to call out to someone.
"Hello?"
Only silence greeted her, and the female felt a crushing sense of loneliness. There were no lights, no response, nothing to mark her location. Just an empty darkness and the faint ripples of water at her feet.
She would call again, taking tentative steps in one direction, hoping to find her way out. This couldn't be right.... She shouldn't be here. Slowly her consciousness was recognizing that this wasn't proper. However she was completely ensnared in the scene before her to realize she was actually asleep, whimpering and groaning in the bed.
Then the female froze in her steps, eyes landing on a smaller form just a few feet in front of her. She recognized it as her child self, and began to approach cautiously.
"Hey... it's okay—"
Almost right on top of the other now, the child would turn, her upper face blacked out and dark black sludge poured from it down the remaining visual of her face.
"Why....?"
Nadine jerked back, beginning to breath heavy now. She suddenly felt distinctly human in this moment, and vulnerable.
"WHY ARE 'YOU' THE ONE THAT GOT OUT!? WHY? WHY?? WHY DID 'YOU' ABANDON 'ME' TO DIE HERE?!"
The child figure mutated into a black mass and reached for the other's throat and chest— screaming for her to 'give it back'.
Just as the other was about to touch her, Nadine jolted awake with a gasp and into a sitting position, cold sweat causing her to violently shiver and shake while she pulled her knees to her chest. "....!!"
The darkness of the night only further escalated her terror and she remained like that, shaking like a leaf, head buried in her knees, whimpering.

@kitxkatrp asked: "I never want to let go of you." Xerxes to Nadine (normal verse)
"...Master.... You're going to have to unless you want Sharon-sama to notice we're both absent." The female murmured, even though she wasn't making any attempts at moving either. "Do you want to be grilled by her again over why both of us are late??"

She wasn't much better, her body was threatening more and more to give out, it was a miracle she hadn't collapsed just yet. She'd never used this much power in one go before, and it had been a fair amount of time since she'd taken her master's place in dying.
Nadine was aware she wasn't going to last much longer. There was no way.
In almost a daze she noticed Jabberwock descending once more, her mind trying to grapple with what her senses were experiencing.
The female grit her teeth tightly, holding her blade securely in her hands.
Her breathing was becoming labored, eyes struggling to remain focused.
"I....might very well be a fool. But you can't guarantee you can save those people without killing more. You......are blinded by your own ignorance... Glen. Retainers don't... blindly follow their leader... if something is wrong they... try and correct it. They speak out... When it's necessary. I am merely... fighting for what.... I deem is right."
CRUNCH.
A very evident cracked form along her cheek and jaw, coming up from her neck.
"--You're a fool! Why would you protect a world that is doomed when so many people can be saved?!" He didn't understand her point of view, clearly having been warped by his mission and experiences--
But her power was clearly having its effect. His expression became more and more pained as it partially soaked into his body--or at least, what he had of a body--
The pain would be unimaginable.
"Ugh!" He stumbled backward, unable to hold up his attack. If he kept going, her power would destroy him completely. His hands were burning away and he glanced down at them as his expression darkened.
The Jabberwok would once again descend upon her in his Master's hesitance.

“Aaaaaww….. fine fine, I’m taking one more for the road.” Yoinks another cookie for good measure, then just disappears. She doesn’t need a door thank you very much.

"GET OUT!" He's had quite enough of her and all this chain business and the stealing of his cookies and interrupting his work!
He's going to attempt to open the door and throw her out of it.

Another quick glance around the room left Nadine amused, greatly so. IT just.. felt so like March Hare to not only fuss and keep it seemingly messy, but also fuss about appearances too. Still she didn't mind and would happily take the offered chair and pillows, almost cooing at how comfy it was.
"Hehe...~ Don't worry, this is quite alright." She only kept her room neat and orderly to such an extent because she sometimes shared it with her Master, and didn't have a lot of personal connection to materials. In terms of femininity for the era, Mad Hatter was incredibly lacking in that department.
"Just try and relax, you're not going to upset or offend me." Though she wouldn't promise to refrain from joking or teasing the other at some point...

She was incredibly embarrassed, but was doing her best not to fixate on this. Her bedding situation was also a bit odd--instead of a normal sheet and blanket with a pillow, she had multiple blankets and sheets moved around in a sort of....nest, with some sheets nailed into the wall so they provided a sort of cover. For most people, it might appear to be a sort of fort, but for her, it resembled a den, which made her feel comfortable and safe.
She didn't even consider that this might appear strange.
Immediately though, she pulled out a comfortable looking chair and a few pillows, fluffing them and preparing them for her friend.
"Here--this should be comfy--"
