nice detail that women are now allowed to be captains. Turnabout Intruder established that women were not permitted to be starship captains (which I still think is fucking insane considering how progressive TOS is with feminism specifically) but seeing as we have Saavik taking the Kobayashi Maru, that's clearly been changed

#star trek: tos #I found that a bizarre thing in Turnabout Intruder #especially because we have seen women in positions of command in TOS- we see women in command gold #so I do find it very strange that women weren't allowed to be starship captains #seems a very bizarre rule- especially since even in TOS the Federation isnt JUST humans #youre telling me Vulcans would've allowed that?#anyways glad to see they changed that in the movies #obviously I knew it changed later on since in TNG there are female captains and female admirals #but still. nice to see as far back as the TOS days
