It was a typical Wednesday afternoon, and the noise coming from coffee machines and the conversation from others filled the cozy atmosphere of Panera. I saw at my usual corner table with my laptop, textbooks for 1 of my classes, my iced coffee, and a bagel.

This is the perfect place to study near NYU. A lot of students come here to study, but it’s never too loud, and there is always enough space for everyone. Midterms are coming up, so everyone is stressed out. As much as I am trying to focus on studying, I can’t. I am worried I will fail my midterms and possibly fail the year. I am an overthinker, so that doesn’t help. 

“Studying hard?” asked a soothing and warm voice.

I glanced up and saw a tall, handsome guy with slightly messy brown hair and beautiful brown eyes. He had a coffee in his hand. He looked familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it just yet.

“Yeah, I have some midterms coming up and have been studying for a week now,” I responded to him and smiled. 

“You go to NYU?” he asked curiously.

As much as I wanted to lie about where I go to school because of the fear of getting “kidnapped,” he seemed honest.

“Yeah, I do. Do you?” I asked. I may have seen him around campus when I was not rushing between classes. 

“Yes. Well, no, but I used to. I just graduated in May of 2023. Mind if I sit with you?”

“Not at all. Sorry for my mess.” I said as I cleared the table a bit, shoving some paper to the side. 

“You’re fine.” he sat down across from me. “I’m Milo.” he stuck his right hand out towards the middle of the table.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Y/N.” I responded and shook his hand. His hands felt so soft and warm. “So, Milo, what did you major in?”

“I majored in Drama. I love acting and wanted to perfect my art. I wanted to be closer to my momma, so I moved here to New York and figured I should go to NYU.” He said with a cute smile.

“That’s great. I’m sorry, but I feel like I have seen you before. Have we met?”

“No, but I wish we had.” He slightly laughed “I think you may have seen me on TV. I was in Dancing with the Stars when I was 17, and then I starred in a Disney Movie called Zombies. I did a few episodes for some other shoes.” 

“Oh my! Yes, I remember now. My niece is obsessed with Zombies. She has been for a couple of months now. I have not watched any of the movies, but I remember snippets of songs and videos she would show me when I visited her,” I said with a slight giggle.

“Oh really? Whatcha think about me then?” He asked in a silly way and winked at me.

I felt some heat on my cheek. Am I blushing?

“In my honest opinion, you seemed funny, and your singing is good. Although, like I said, I did not watch your movies fully.” I said honestly.

He smiled at me. “Well, what about you get to know me a little more? I can even sing to you, and you can tell me how I do.” He laughed.

“I would love to, but I have midterms coming up. I will be busy for the next week and a half,” I said. I saw his face a bit disappointed.

He took his phone out of his pocket and handed it to me. “How about you text me when you are free?”

I grabbed his phone, typed in my number, and returned it to him. “Sounds like a plan.”

He got up and adjusted his hoodie. I was admiring his tall figure. He is cute. He even fixed his hair before putting on his baseball hat. 

“It was nice meeting you, Y/N. Can’t wait to see you after your midterms.” He stuck his hand out again.

We shook hands. “Nice meeting you too, Milo.”

He began heading out. I saw him take his phone out towards the front. That’s when I heard my phone ring. I grabbed it, and it was from an unknown number.

‘Hey, Y/N. It’s Milo. I enjoyed talking with you tonight. Sorry for interrupting your studying. Good luck with your midterm exams. Your grand prize is waiting ;) ‘

I giggled before responding.

‘Haha. Thank you. Can’t wait!’

I ended up packing up my stuff before heading to my apartment. Milo and I texted each other on the way home and for the remainder of the night. We started to text every day after that. Slowly falling for him each day. 

Best. Distraction. Ever.

disney channel original film love interest boys ranked on a scale between “incredibly easy to fall in love with” to “actively made my misandry worse” and here is the post. gonna start with hating and work my way up to the good ones though i can't end on haterism that will kill the vibe....

before i start i am noting that troy bolton will not be included due to this list is meant to be about the secondary character boys written as love interests for the female protagonist, and troy is very much the protagonist of high school musical. might allow joshua bassett's ricky bowen onto the list though even though that's a show not a movie.... it's hsm it still counts EYE think..... for these reasons zed zombies will also not be featured....

also i pulled up the list of dcoms to make this post as exhaustive as possible because well. i don't know what i've seen. and looking at this list i fear i have actually seen precious few dcoms..... guys i never saw cheetah girls...... and some i like, saw (like jump in and cadet kelly) but do not remember at all and can't include on any kind of list. well. i will be remedying this this spring/summer.

one more note. i'm sure we can all take a guess at who i will put in number one. it was never a secret but it's REALLY not a secret now i fear. i don't think you guys are stupid i know we kinda all know how this is gonna end. but let's get into it anyway!

11. doug descendants is only the secondary Girl Protagonist's Love Interest but he gets to be on the list because i always liked him i liked how he was just nice <3 he was nice!

10. ricky high school musical the musical the series...... ricky and nini you are the true loss of my entire life... i cannot get into this.

9. ben descendants. wanted him to be higher but it just didn't shake out like that.... i made the list and THEN started the explanations so now i'm sitting here with my list done and ben at number 9 like damn thought he'd make it higher..... i do love ben.... but descendants just isn't like. a romcom type story like some other dcoms so it's hard to truly be like oh yeah ben is such a great love interest.... he was good! he wasn't the plot of the movies though....

8. nicholas braun princess protection program (his name is ed wikipedia has informed me). i love when a movie is about a girl doing her own thing and then there's a dude who's obsessed with her in the background. i love that shit i loved how he kept trying to film her for his bad documentary or whatever about the homecoming queen or whatever he was doing and she kept yelling at him to get out of her face.... i love it when girls get to be kind of mean to their Guy In The Background and he stays obsessed with her..... this is feminism

7. jay 16 wishes. i love a yearner.....

6. will avalon high. i've already said it all about will and allie...... one of the all time romantic subplots in a dcom.... i personally did not fall in love with him because gregg sulkin was always the werewolf from wizards of waverly place to me and i couldn't take him seriously by the time i saw avalon high, but i liked allie and will a lot anyway <3

5. christopher wilde strastruck. if i had cared enough about demi lovato to watch sonny with a chance i would probably have fallen in love with sterling knight. alas i didn’t do that and he was always only christopher wilde to me, who i LOVE. however his end of the second act betrayal moment always pissed me off…. so. didn’t fall in love with this man but i DID fall in love with this movie… one of the best dcoms ever to me. and the music ATE DOWN. and when he gives jessica his sunglasses at the end….. big stuff…. huge.

4. ryan girl vs monster. of COURSE he was making top five…. remember when had me @ hello was my top song on spotify wrapped in 2023…. you don’t have to try too hard you already have my heart…. she literally didn’t have to try too hard…. she already had his heart… i LOVE a yearner!!!!!!! i LOVE when the guy is just obsessed with the girl and then the plot of the movie happens and he is also there <3 one of the all time great ways to do a romantic subplot…. i did watch this movie at the ancient age of 22 though so i didn’t get to fall in love with this dude the way i SURELY would have had i been tuned in to the disney channel during his heyday

3. brady teen beach movie. he would have been higher even than 3 but as much as i’m in love with brady i can’t divorce him from also being austin from austin and ally. and i never fucked with austin….. SORRY if we have austin moon girls in the house. i didn’t like that he was kinda stupid. like stupid men actually infuriate me on a level i can’t even speak about without getting so mean and feeling evil… i hate stupid men so much it makes me feel like a bad person… anyway. love brady! loved ross lynch in the troye sivan music video last year…. huge stuff. hot even, if i could ever get past the austin moon of it all. sorry ross lynch this isn’t even your fault….

2. travis hannah montana the movie. jake ryan kill yourself.... jesse whatever his last name was kill yourself..... why did the show only give miley love interests that pissed me off but the movie gave her TRAVIS..... miley and travis were like. next level insane..... he was PERFECT. it actually infuriates me to think they wrote her the perfect boy and then made her go back to JAKE...... what were we doing.... this actor guy should have been in more stuff seriously. ok he probably was in more stuff and i just didn't care. he was in that macgyver reboot show years ago i did actually watch a bit of that because i saw ads for it and was like oh that's my man travis who i'm madly in love with.... from the. hannah montana film..... anyway he will surely always be famous for being travis <3

finally 1. well we knew this. peyton...... peyton leverett...... it's always been him i fear, that's the dream boy..... i can't even get too into it. listen. some of us watched high school musical and loved sharpay for her pink girl swag and cunty icon realness even at the tender age of like 7 years old. some of us rejoyced and celebrated at the concept of her getting her own movie...... some of us loved her so much that when we saw a boy appear across from her who loved her as much as we did without wanting her to change it inspired in us a love so strong we would remember it our whole lives. he let her bejeweled. some of us were very odd little girls with big personalities who everyone wanted to tamp down.... some of us saw our big personality icon sharpay find Perfect Dream Boy Peyton who liked her big personality and maybe went a little crazy. that's my man forever. EYE was on the ground floor..... the girlies who all fell for him because of the ELVIS MOVIE did NOT like to hear from those of us who were on the ground floor...... they silenced us..... but i am still here..... i'm quiet about it but i exist.....

I COME BEARING NERDS!!!! so, I actually picked out two guys for you :D!!!!

Immediately, my mind went to Seymour Krelborn from Little Shop of Horrors!! The pic below is movie Seymour, but there’s been plenty of great adaptations of him on broadway (INCLUDING Milo Manheim who will be playing him on broadway starting February 25th (I am very excited about this)). I think his loser boy energy and his devotion would fit you well.

Secondly!! I picked out Bruce Banner for you!! He is of course the ultimate Marvel nerd. Funnily enough, I realized he shared quite a few similarities to another one of your boyfriends, Hank McCoy, so I thought he would fit in well.
