[The Pathfinder 2e Bestiary 3 introduces three new sprite lineages, all of which are some manner of anthro. I love all three of them and will be retro-converting them all to 1e. I like how the bat sprites are neutral good by nature, reflecting how the image of bats has changed from their universally monstrous nature in the days of 1e D&D. Also, it's scientifically accurate! Vampire bats practice altruistic bloodfeeding, and sometimes even adopt orphaned kits]

Nyktera CR 1/3 NG Fey This tiny humanoid has a wrinkly face with large ears and little fangs. Bat wings grow from their back, and they have furry arms and legs.

Nykteras are sometimes referred to as “bat sprites” by lay people. Despite their sometimes frightening appearance, they are kindly creatures who value hospitality among all other things. They nest in caves or trees with mundane bats, especially those with similar physical features and ecologies. Different colonies of nyktera feed on different foods, usually fruit or insects, but occasionally fish, frogs, nectar or even blood.

Nyktera colonies are seen as oases of calm, and even evil creatures will often behave themselves in a nyktera colony for the promise of a safe place to sleep, fresh water and even minor healing services. That being said, if a nyktera’s hospitality is abused, the creatures will fly into a rage and fight. Their physical attacks are fairly weak, but nyktera are capable of firing sonic bolts from their mouths at range. Nyktera families are large and often extend over whole continents, and those who have abused the hospitality of one nyktera will usually find themselves spurned by all bat sprites in turn until they make amends.

Special Abilities Sonic Pulse (Su) As a standard action, a nyktera can fire a pulse of sonic energy. Treat this as a ranged touch attack with a range of 20 feet and no range increment. A creature struck takes 1d4 points of sonic damage. Wrath of Spurned Hospitality (Ex) If a nyktera is betrayed, it must succeed a DC 20 Will save. If it fails, it flies into a rage, as per the spell, attacking its betrayer each round until it succeeds a DC 20 Will save, the nyktera or the target of its ire is slain, or if the traitor flees.

Another Pathfinder related piece. Planning on running the Free RPG Day one-shot "A Few Flowers More" for a group of friends soon. The module itself didn't have art for an NPC (Stella, a grey haired Nyktera), so wanted to get a visual handy.

Going to be starting the first session of a PF2E GateWalker adventure in about 12 hours (totally don't feel like i'm going to vomit) from top to bottom we have. 1.UN the Human Ganzi Baba Yaga Witch with her tail puppet familiar w/ the blasting beams (sonic damage) deviant ability played by (don't know tumblr handle) 2.Jorus Technological Fleshwarp, conscious mind/tangible dream psychic w/ the eerie flicker deviant ability played by @urbandragondice 3.Charlotte the Nyktera Sprite, time oracle w/ the titan swing deviant ability played by @puellaumemagica Who also did the amazing character art in record time. 4.Tanzia the frozen wind Kitsune, another Oracle but of flames instead w/ the eerie flicker deviant ability played by (Don't know tumblr handle)

5.Fiza the Fey touched granny gnome who is a Magus of the twisting tree w/ the titan swing deviant ability played by (Don't know tumblr handle) 6.Drust the human changeling who is a spirit instinct barbarian w/ the eerie flicker deviant ability played by (Don't know tumblr handle) Has this been a long winded way to get peoples accounts to follow? ... Maybe. Either way hope to have more to gush about soon.

I've made several pathfinder 2e characters that I hope to play one day, but this one's my favorite. Clearer text under break

Elire is a nyktera sprite that spend a lot of time in the material world. Her life was mostly spent in caves, were her kin often hanged out. She is quick to make friends with bats as well as other animals.

She is very social, and always willing to receive visitors from other places, and is always willing to make new friends. She would immediately share hospitality with them, and put herself to the task of being a good hostess, even if they were unexpected visitors. As any other Nyktera would, she is willing to share some hospitality with those who had previously wronged her. But if they were to betray her hospitality and good will, there is little that would stop her rage, and she will stop at nothing until the perpetrators are completely subdued, or driven out of her home. -----

I was looking at the sprites Ancestry of Pf 2e, when I found the drawing used for the nyktera fey. That pretty much inspire me to make this drawing and build a nyktera sprite character. Sadly, it’s a bit hard to optimize a sprite PC currently in 2e, as they have more things going against them than in their favor, the way I see it. But they are still a cool concept, and I hope they get revised in the future!
