Paula Pääkkönen “‘Nuutajärvi Glass Village’ is full of excellent glassblowers and information is shared freely. I’d like to mention Johannes Rantasalo and Alma Jantunen. The place has a tradition dating back 223 years, so there’s a lot of 'silent' knowledge. It is a team effort and we speak the language of glass.” - Paula Pääkkönen, Glass Blower and Glass Artist. Paula Pääkkönen "I like using the Finnish/Swedish filigree technique and the incalmo technique. I don’t strive for excellence for the sake of it. Instead I aim for a visually pleasing result. Sometimes mistakes can make the pieces more alive. I’m learning to leave more room for chance.” - Paula Pääkkönen, Glass Blower and Glass Artist. Paula Pääkkönen is a glass artist and glassblower working in the ‘Nuutajärvi Glass Village’ in Finland. The inspiration behind Pääkkönen’s pastel hued ice cream shaped sculptures came from childhood summer ice cream memories. I think we can all stan for that. Memories of long hot summer days, cycling down a dirt road with your best friend to buy an ice cream from the local shop. These sculptures became important to Pääkkönen. Pääkkönen began making these pieces 2017 - at the time she was depressed. By looking back, these memories, these tonally pleasing objects, Pääkkönen found her joy. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #design #words #pictures #love #pastelhued #childhoodmemories #longhotsummer #icecream #finland #nuutajärviglassvillage #filigreetechnique #incalmotechnique #glassblower #glassartist #paulapääkkönen (at Finland) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cij-_cBo9IM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
