S O L I T U D E Is it wrong to crave solitude right now? There’s so many people who are feeling lonely during the pandemic, I feel selfish saying I’m in need of some solitude. My studio is on a lovely little street but of late there been so much noise. I can’t focus properly. There are far too many distractions and easy ways to procrastinate. I know my work suffers when I don’t have enough space and solitude to mull over ideas without interruptions. Yet I come back to feeling guilty because there are so many people that really need those face to face human interactions at the moment. After a fairly rocky start to my day today I managed to pick up the brush and try out my new watercolour canvas. I’ve not used canvas for my pigment paints before but they look as though they are taking well to them. Using the canvas gives me a bit more time to play around with the paint as it stays wet for longer than on paper. I enjoyed this initial application this afternoon. Really excited to get back to it tomorrow. How old are you?: Currently I’m 20, but I’ll be 21 in 13 days!!! I’m so excited!!

Current Job/ Dream Job?: Current job is a sales associate at B&BW, but my dream job is acting.

What are you talented at?: Ummmm.... Trying to think of something that doesn’t put me down is difficult....... I keep wanting to say hurting myself in really pathetic ways, BUUTTT....... I haven’t danced in a while, but I used to be able to pick up choreography really fast!

What is a big goal you are working towards (or have already achieved)?: I’m working towards being able to live off of acting alone. It’s going to be difficult because I want to work as a stage actor more than a TV or film actor, but I think I’ll eventually be able to do it.

What is your aesthetic?: I have no fucking idea. I literally just look at things and if it resonates with me I’ll get it, if not I walk away.

Do you collect anything?: Right now, no. There isn’t enough room. I used to collect rocks though!

What is a topic you are always up to talk about?: So.... Shakespeare, Supernatural, superheroes (particularly the MCU and the actors within it), life. Seriously, if anyone wants to just send me a random message just to tell someone how shitty of a day you’ve had, please message me! I love being an outlet for people to talk about the things that really bother them. Shitty customers, talk to me. Shitty SO, talk to me. Shitty parents, talk to me. You’re on your period and raging for no reason. TALK TO ME!!! We can bitch about whatever it is together!

What’s a pet peeve of yours?: I have a lot, but one thing that just annoyed the hell out of me before working in retail (and now that I do annoys me even more) is when people are talking on their phones at the register. Like, get off your phone so you can be checked out as quickly as possible and the next person can get out of here too! Especially if I’m the next person! I did my shopping now I just want to go home and the only thing I need to do is check out! If you’re on your phone, you ain’t ready to check out. Get out of line and wait until you are. If it’s an emergency, I get that, but most of the time people are just having casual convos with their mom or someone. Like, call them when you leave, PLEASE!!! Also, I hate it when people don’t use oxford commas.

Good advice to give?: Be happy. It’s not easy, but you deserve it. It’s going to take courage, but you are beyond worth it. You’re not happy with the friend group you’re in, change it. You’re not happy with your relationship, talk to your SO and if they don’t want to work on the relationship then leave. The changes may hurt, but you will feel so much better in the long run. It may be difficult to change your habits, but I know you can do it! If you want someone to help keep you accountable, please talk to me. I can help, or I can help you find someone else if you want that.

Recommend three songs?: I’m really nervous to do this just because I find music to be very personal and a reflection of a person’s soul. Like, I personally find looking at someone’s music library more of an invasion of privacy than reading their journal (I would never do either!). That being said: Something New by Tokio Hotel (check it out on their YouTube channel and any of their other songs while you’re there!), Megalovania by toby fox (yes, it’s UNDERTALE), and Control by Halsey.
