Someone has to help me understand why I don't like Callisto and Cha Siyeon AT ALL. But then again, I don't like anyone in there aside from Penelope, and maybe Leila, whose blankness makes her somewhat interesting to think about.

I think in Penelope's case it's because she's the type of lead we usually root for in these kinds of genre.

And yet even with such little information, we can somewhat get the gist of it. Penelope, despite being emotionally immature, must have had the mentality of a BEAST (taking her soul dozens of loops to shatter) while having a pure heart (as proven by how she still tried to save the same people that would kill her time and time again).

Compared to that, Cha Siyeon frankly only cares about herself or those she cares about (notice how she uses and can discard people, only shows pity when she sees others similar to her past, and even victim-blames Penelope many times). It is understandable to be that human, but when you look back at her after thinking more on what Penelope’s story was, it really just feels disappointing.

Just imagine for at least a minute on just how wild it would have been to get at least ONE side story of Penelope suffering throughout the loops, the number of deaths she experiences, and desperation of STILL trying despite always losing. It's a determination that is so hopeful and engaging, especially considering just how much she was already suffering. Even Siyeon can't handle that as she gave up after Eckles betrayed her.

Callisto is your typical romance male lead, really. Sad backstory, doesn't care about anything but himself and those he's personally affiliated with, and extremely violent (like many men lol). I don't get all the hype about him.

His possessiveness was not romantic at all and he is much more similar to Eckles and Derrick than people are comfortable of admitting. All three of these men are extremely controlling, as clear by their actions, and Callisto who locked Cha Siyeon up in a room later on, and put a magic tracking device on her is no different.

Stop cherrypicking. It really does get annoying when someone hates a character for something that another character is loved for. A great example of this is how people hate Eckles' 'yandere-ness' over Siyeon and his desire to keep her to himself, then go "uwu, Callisto so manly and romantic, he threatened whoever Siyeon is interested in (even BEFORE they were official)." Fucking hypocrites.

Callisto’s fear of losing Cha Siyeon should NOT have overrode her most basic human rights (i dont even like her, but cmon, she's entitled to that much). Don't treat one character as if they're actual people whose bad deeds should be taken seriously, then another as a fictional husbando whose actions are all okay because it's fictional.

I likely just read too many romances, but literally everything about him was predictable (but then again, perhaps a lot of the characters are).

Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh. There are simply too many plot holes, in general, and the system and mechanics are underdeveloped.

I seriously am just considering making myself content. I doubt there are a lot of people who share similar views (that much is clear from the amount of glazing around), but I stand by everything I say. I like the story overall, and especially those that are interesting to me. Personal preference.

My husband regularly reminds me that I work too much and give too much of myself to the business without the same return, specifically from the owner, and he's not wrong. But I love what I do, I care genuinely for the bees and my customers and the wellbeing of the farm, and I have a strong moral drive to do the right thing every time, so I'm often dragged into work at inconvenient times. Sorry husbando!

I got a call from an employee who was frantically contacted by one of our hive management customers yesterday. We do colony management on private property for people seeking tax relief via agriculture valuation on their property, a super common thing out here in rural communities. There are a lot of options for ag val programs: cattle, prairie, timber, bees, etc. We have learned the basics for getting someone started in the process and the laws for maintaining the valuation, so that the customer can benefit from the tax relief without learning a whole new skill or taking on another responsibility but still improving the land.

ANYWAY, this customer had purchased a parcel of property from one of our larger ag val customers, which had about 20 colonies, and inherited the colonies and tax breaks. This parcel was close to a country highway, and the bees were behind a structure but close to and visible from the road, which we don't recommend for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is the temptation of vandalism and theft, which surprises most people to learn is common with bees. At some point shortly before they purchased the parcel, the structure had caught fire and burned down, exposing the colonies more and making the parcel seem abandoned I assume. So a few weeks after they took ownership, they came out to clear the land and found their colonies ransacked, and the bees were gone.

We promised to get them right again so that they weren't in trouble with the tax office, but the beekeeper who did the work didn't bother to communicate with the property owners at all, but simply came out, changed things, and left. So the customer was confused.

Granted this all happened last summer, so I don't know what took them so long to notice something seemed wrong, but whatever.

We previously had those 20 colonies to meet the needs of the parcel as it was attached to a larger piece of land. To qualify for an ag val with bees in Texas, you can only have between 5 and 20 acres on the parcel, and each amount of acreage requires a specific amount of colonies to qualify. Each county has its own rules and amounts per acre, too. Once the new owners purchased this now smaller, detached parcel, the amount of colonies they needed reduced, but they weren't informed of that at any point in the process, which annoys me to no end. Because then you get situations like this where the customer is freaking out about not having enough bees, and I am running an hour outside of town to potentially move bees in dangerously cold weather in order to make it right on my day off.

Thankfully I gathered all of the up to date, accurate info on the land parcel, could take visual cues and clues from what all the beekeeper left behind to track their work and sus out their reasoning (this particular beekeeper annoys the life out of me, and doesn't keep records of their work!!), talked with the landowners for a bit and got them up to speed, and inspected the colonies from the outside. Since it was a nice sunny day, the bees were active around the entrances, but not flying very much in the cold wind, so I could see that they were alive and well. The owner was understandably concerned, since if you didn't know much about beekeeping you could easily assume there were no bees there and all her colonies were dead or absconded and the tax office was about to throw the book at her. Unfortunately this lead her to unceremoniously (being uninformed, of course, not malicious) rip the lids off the two colonies pictured to try to illustrate to me that there were no bees, which I had to correct her for. You can't be exposing whole colonies to this kind of cold weather like that, it's dangerous for their survival. But now she knows and she knows those colonies are occupied, so hopefully that won't be happening anymore and she can rest easy.

I started playing a new-ish freemium game recently.  Like most of these kinds of games it has the same general structure as a a lot of other games, some of which I’ve played.  This one, however, was advertising a dude harem and I had to get in on that.  So here’s my review of a dozen-or-so google play dream dates. 

First up is the freebie guy our “childhood love”

Notgonnalie, This one made me fully laugh because I was expecting him to be shirtless, not in the middle of taking his pants off.  Otherwise pretty basic.

I can't believe you have sent this in, as if I haven't written you bibles about Melissa and why she is the way she is, haha. Before I start, I need to say that I'm just profoundly grateful to you (and my other mutuals) who have given Melissa a chance to shine and to be fleshed out and developed over the years. :) I appreciate you muchly and for being my bestie through all our multi-verse adventures for the last 3 (!) years and counting. :D

BUT OKAY. MELISSA. My gremlin child. My chihuahua energy daughter. I definitely did not plan for her to be this creature full of sass and so desperately in love with questionable types, making bad choices and collecting red flags. I joke about this, but I have such great fun writing Melissa in different verses and dynamics - for better or worse, she's always very intensely guided by emotions and craving social connections, which make for fun and interesting plots.

I do not enjoy writing loner, quiet or repressed types - I learned they are too hard for me and Melissa offers me just the right range of options to connect to mostly any other character and to yeet her in any verse. There will always be those who are broken and vulnerable and needing to be cared for that she will gravitate towards; there will always be these souls who are dangerous and enticing and who she will be both scared by and horny for.

Overall, it's a lot - but I definitely recognize Melissa as my comfort muse in her million versions and shapes, which allow me to drive inspiration from several different pieces and to craft original things all the time. She's undeniably a part of me now and I treasure her immensely - I will forever be honored to count on you & the best husbando across all these journeys. :)

notes I would say are probably important to all writers in some degree, but for me it’s more about hearing that people enjoyed the work rather than having a super high note count ( even though that’s always a confidence boost hehe ! ) just because I need head pats in order to feel like I did something right. I’m literally like a loyal puppy, and if you like what I do and want more, it’s so easy to manipulate me into giving it to you all it takes is for you to be like “I really enjoyed this” and I’m yours SOKSKSKS and when it comes to a fandom like JJBA, that I’ve been writing for for like a year now, I expect lower notes just because it hasn’t been buzzing as much as it was. And that’s okay! I have certain characters that I’m pretty sure I’ll probably always write for, and dio is one of them 🥺

It was closing time at the restaurant. You had just finished putting the last wine glass away behind the bar when you heard the familiar chime of the doorbell cutting through the silence. A long, tired sigh fell from your lips as an irritated scowl settled on your face. Unfortunately, stragglers were a common occurrence and you loathed having to deal with them. Could they not read? Or did they choose to ignore the sign plastered on the door that clearly stated ‘closed’?

"Restaurant is closed" you droned, not even bothering to turn around and face the visitor as you swiped a cloth over the counter. "You’ll have to come back in the morning."

You were tired to the bone and your feet ached. You just wanted to go home and it reflected in your tone. You braced yourself to be yelled at and you were mildly surprised when you didn’t receive it. Instead, you got a throaty chuckle.

"Ah, that’s a shame. I was hoping to get some take out."

You paused in your monotonous task, grip loose on the cloth as your ears perked up to the sound of their voice. Your heart skipped a beat and you quickly whirled around, almost tripping over your feet from the terrifying speed at which you had spun. Your eyes were wide, a look of shock tugging at your features as you stared at the person standing in the door to the restaurant. Ace smiled widely at you, hand on his hip and bag slung over his shoulder as he shot you a casual wink.

"So, how about it? Can I take you out?"

His smile burned hotter than the sun. God, how you missed that smile. Once the initial shock of seeing him wore off, you pounced into action. You immediately abandoned your task, running around the bar and heading straight for him. Ace dropped his bag, the heavy sack hitting the floor with a dull thud as he opened his arms wide and invited you to embrace him. He grunted softly as you ran into his arms with enough force to send you both toppling down to the floor. He kept his footing, wrapping his arms around your waist as you cling to him, hands splayed on his bare chest as you breathe in his warmth. It had been so long since you had seen him. It felt like an eternity had passed you by just waiting for the day to see his smiling face again and to hold him in your arms just like this. You peek up at him through long lashes, unshed tears shimmering in your eyes.

"What are you doing here?" you asked, trying to keep the excited quiver out of your voice.

Ace smiled warmly as he tucked a lock of your hair behind your ear, his fingertips hot against your skin as he rubbed his thumb against your cheek.

"I was in the area" he replied with a lazy roll of his shoulder. "Thought I’d stop by."

You couldn’t help the smile that tugged at your lips. You knew it was a blatant lie. There was no reason for a pirate to stop by your little, humble home town. He must have travelled for days just to be standing here in front of you. You smiled shyly, warmth blossoming in your chest as you squeezed him tighter, drawing him closer into your embrace.

"You didn’t have to go out of your way just to see me."

Ace blew your comment off with a wave of his hand.

"Pfft, nonsense. You are never too far out of my way" he replied. "I’d walk the entirety of the red line barefoot just to see you."

His sincere words made butterflies erupt in your stomach, your heart fluttering wildly in your chest as your skin burned with a pleasant heat. You tentatively reached for his face with your hand, fingers brushing against his face as you cupped his cheek in the palm of your hand. He leaned down as you raised yourself up on the tips of your toes to place a chaste kiss on his lips. You hummed softly at the warm, familiar taste, sea salt lingering on the tip of your tongue as you pulled away.

"I missed you so much, Ace."

Ace squeezed you tighter, his grip almost completely knocking the wind out of you as he held you in a tight embrace.

"I missed you too."

A comfortable silence permeated the air as you continued to hold each other. It felt like the rest of the world had faded away and all that was left in this moment was just the two of you. Ace was the one to finally break the silence as he idly scratched at his cheek.

"Although…you wouldn’t have to miss me so much if you joined the Whitebeard Pirates" he said with a cheeky smile.

You sighed as you parted from him, a small pout tugging at your lips. "Ace, we’ve been over this."

He held up his hands, trying to placate you before you got too irritated. "I know, I know. But just hear me out again, will ya? We’d get to see each other so much more. And the other crew members have been dying to meet you. Even the old man won’t shut up about it. He pesters me every chance he gets."

You chuckled softly at the exasperated groan that fell from his mouth. It was obvious to you how much Ace cared for his crewmates, no matter how much he complained about their doting over him. You weren’t sure how many times he had brought up this topic before, trying to convince you to a life of piracy, sailing along the Grand Line. You hummed in thought as you reached for his hand, easily slotting your smaller hand in his larger one. Your fingers intertwined as you fondly squeezed it.

"Hmm alright. Convince me to join the crew on the walk home."

Ace grinned widely. "I accept that challenge."

I'm not trying to prove who's superior as much as fed up with some claims I've seen from a subset of Edelgard fans. I also don't feel like I stooped to their level because, unlike them, I didn't insult anyone over their fictional fav unless calling someone a straight man is an insult and then that's their issue that they should probably look into and not mine.

This also didn't come out of the blue. I wrote it after seeing a now-deleted poll asking who's your fav lord and why. Most people were normal about it, the worst being negative about the characters they didn't pick, but some Edelgard fans decided to attack people who voted for anyone else - saying shit like "you're a misogynist if you didn't vote for her" or insulted that Dimitri was winning on a site with a demographic like Tumblr, as if LGBTQ+ and women in general are some massive hivemind that must all like the same fav as them. I wrote this as a response, saying the demographics might not be what they think. Since I wrote it while mad, I didn't post it since it's a personal rule I have to send nothing written in anger right away (email, text, posts, etc), but even after a few days still wanted to post this because I've seen this behavior from some Edelgard fans again and again, which annoys me greatly. It's even funnier because the numbers don't even agree at all with what they feel is the different characters' fandoms.

I also don't think anyone disagrees that Dimitri's husbando and fujo bait. I firmly believe he is actually. It's pretty much an accepted meme that the Blue Lions house is an otome game. No one ever starts screaming about it whenever anyone says that either. They mostly just joke about something with a kernel of truth in it. Male power fantasy though, I disagree with. Dimitri doesn't have nearly enough women throwing themselves at him. He's also tortured way too many times with the solution to his happy ending being pretty standard "feminine" things like healthy responses to emotions and communication and etc . . . (which actually circles back to him being bait for women identifying people) and when he does try to badass his way though things, he dies.

You know what's funny?

Despite claims that Edelgard is totally not sold to straight men as a waifu, she's at her most popular in fandom spaces dominated by straight men like Reddit and FEH.

Meanwhile, Dimitri is most popular in fandom places dominated by women and people who identify as LGBTQ+ like Tumblr and A03.

Just . . . putting that out there. For #reasons.

#5 Juuzou Suzuya

This boy needs a hug. A really big and warm hug.

By the way, the important question is does Juuzou count as an albino? I only realized it while writing this.

But to the point. I really like Juuzou's backstory and how his "madness and murderousness" are given reasons. Juuzou is just a good character who has experienced hell. Just the kind of character who does "bad" things but who you still want to succeed. Also, he has a really good voice actor.

Juuzou's character is just well executed. And now I know I'm not the only one who likes to poke holes in them skin with a needle.

#4 Kanato Sakamaki

Kanato is just really relatable. And I don't mean that I carry a teddy bear with me inside which I keep my mother's ashes. I mean asperger traits that Kanato clearly has.

I think these fit the Kanato character well. He doesn't understand sarcasm, is obsessively interested in his "dolls", Not really good at showing empathy or controlling his emotions, can't stand touch and assumes others think the worst of him.

And no, I'm not going to start diagnosing Kanato now. I'm just saying that he has many traits that an Asperger person can identify with.

His backstory and character is just really well done. Douma has always been something that interests me. Even at the beginning, when I really hated his desing and eyebrows. But no matter what I did, I always ended up reading Douma fanfiction. I could start watching Hentai and then after half an hour I found myself reading Douma yandere writings. I still don't understand how it happened. I just really love him.

# 2 Leviathan

I remember at first I hated him too. "Once again someone is making fun of us anime/manga enthusiasts" I thought.

But the more I played the game, the more relatable Leviathan's character felt. I actually didn't even know what an Otaku was until I met him.

Leviathan also has autistic traits and is one of my comfort characters. I have never identified with any character so much. He is also funny and his voice actor does a good job.
