these are my fishie fishies, Nudibranchi and Soh!! Undertides are so gorgeous, as a water flight member I'm totally thrilled with them! I think i want to have a third now that even more colors and patterns for them are out! Branchi is a fish shepard, and Soh cultivates seaweed btw!! I adore them both a lot!

(i am like 90% sure i saw illusions in the meaning pages somewhere too but i can't find it. Wikipedia has a mention of bad omens with large numbers of butterflies and that also checks, but i digress)

Glaucus atlanticus, detto anche "drago blu", è un nudibranco di 3 cm al massimo, predatore che preleva i tessuti velenosi delle sue vittime (ad esempio le meduse) e li conserva nei cerati (quella specie di tentacoli). Così, se vuole, può rilasciare tutto il veleno accumulato in una volta, arrivando anche ad essere pericoloso per l'uomo. La maggior parte del tempo la passa galleggiando a pancia in su sulla superficie dell'oceano. E quando incontra un'altro esemplare ci fa sesso e rimangono entrambi incinta. Bello, pericoloso, sempre in vacanza ed ermafrodita.

If you think the "nudibranchy" tag on tumblr is confusing, this might be a good example:

It's kind of unclear to me what the relationship is between the "a" above the "e" and the "b" below it; what is meant by the whole being like "an a b" is unclear.

(I know "a" means "above" and "b" means "below," but when you think about it that's not necessarily the right way to visualize what you're looking at. Compare, for instance, this image:

When you think about it, it's confusing because the "a" should be below the "b.")

He's very useful in only one thing... cleaning.

This little slug can eat sponges, corals, anemones, hydroids, and barnacles.

But he doesn't like to eat fish eggs, slugs, and some of his kinds. He just keeps them away from the manor as possible.

The only thing that pisses Great Black Hat off about this slug, is that he's small and slow.

He was expected to be a giant nudibranch eating the whole ocean floor, clearing off the the homes of every fishes. Turns out, this one is just... Too small...

You can feel Black Hat's disappointment in the pic.

(I enjoy drawing this cutie into a slug, I've been smiling in the whole morning oh my god)

It may be hard to melibe-lieve, but this ghoulish gastropod is a nudibranch. Equipped with a venus fly trap on its face, the lion’s mane nudibranch (Melibe leonina) is the terror of tasty planktonic morsels, snatching them up in a slow-mocean surprise attack.

It’s also able to defend itself against creatures considering a nudibranchy-nibble—a melibe’s watermelon-scented noxious secretions deter even the most dastardly diners!
