Eugenie fidgeted as Mama adjusted the clip on her wool cloak. They were stood outside the gate of the little cemetery, after finishing visiting the babies. Mama liked to leave flowers for their little souls, specially grown in her greenhouse. The infernal eternal winter would not deter Mama's need for fresh flowers. She could see the Riordan house from where they stood. "Please, Mama?" She asked again. Mrs. Riordan had invited her over to bake soul cakes, and Mama seemed hesitant to let her go. Mama never wanted to let her go to the Riordan house. Mama sighed. "Genie, I don't know." "She said Mr. Riordan is away. It'll just be us girls. Please, please, please?" Genie begged, bouncing on the spot. Mama sighed again. "I suppose you can." "YES!" Genie started to turn towards the road, but Mama grabbed her arm. "Hang on! I will be back to get you by dark. And if Mr. Riordan comes home-" "I'll come home." Genie said dutifully. Mama did not like Mr. Riordan one bit. "Alright. You may go." Mama straightened up. "Thank you!" Genie raced down the road and up onto the Riordan's front porch where she knocked on the door.

Percy sat on the side of the fountain, contemplating the snow. It didn't feel like the snow had felt...before. He didn't know how else to describe being in Aslan's Country. It didn't feel right to say 'when he was alive' because he seemed alive right now. So then was the before and this was the after.
He shook his head. His mind was wandering. The snow. He had been examining the snow. It wasn't as cold and miserable as it could be in the before. It felt like how you imagined snow as a child. Magical. He could hear the sound of children laughing somewhere nearby, probably ice-skating on the pond. That was another question he had about this place. Were the only children here ones who had left the before as children? Or did some people get to go back to childhood? Could he get a do-over as it were? Something was obviously different since he appeared like he was 25 again, not the 60 something year old he had been when he passed through. Every time he thought too hard about this place, he got a headache. Tamzin kept telling him to just accept that he wouldn't understand it and to stop trying.
His head shot up at he heard someone step into the courtyard. He turned and saw a woman about his age, not that it meant anything hear. She had dark hair similar to his, though her's was straight to his curly. He gave a small smile. Tamzin was also repeatedly telling him to be friendly with people. They would all be together for eternity, after all. "Hello." He said simply.

time worked in strange and mysterious ways in narnia - even in aslan's country - which explained how, when susan died five years after her siblings tragic demise on earth, not quite a year had passed in aslan's country. susan's arrival fell just in time for the winter yuletide holiday, and to say her entrance into saltwood court palace, very unannounced, on the first morning of the holiday shocked many. but now four days have passed by, and susan agreed to take the children to the frost fair with rayne, arlise, lucy, aniza, and jacquetta - except lucy and aniza quickly excused themselves from the group to have their own discussion.
there wasn't much for the adults to do at the frost fair besides browse the stalls and watch the children play - which is clearly what sparked the group's inspiration, for all at the same time, the four women seemed to have the same thought. in one fell swoop, all ladies bent down and scooped up their own snowballs, and quickly started pelting them at one another, harmonious laughs echoed throughout the fair. it had been so long since the family had been able to spend time like this, and susan for one was in much need of a good laugh, let alone a good time. "come on, then. where's your aim? i'm sure you can do better than that, arlise!" susan childishly giggled - something she hadn't been able to do for years now. for the first time since she left narnia during the golden age, susan had been filled with love and light and happiness, and she wasn't able to wipe the smiles off of her face. "come on, arli! rayne! jacquetta!"

The reappearance of the Ice Festival warmed Rayne's heart and spirit. It was one of her favorite traditions during her time in the old Narnia, both because of the special moments with family, and getting to see new and old faces enjoying themselves at court. She would never get annoyed at the sound of children's laughter, their feet pounding down on the stone floors of the castle, or snowballs whipping through the air around her head. She simply thrived at this time of year, and was just as excited as the children to see it back.
Aimlessly, she found herself wandering around the festivities, soaking up all the sights, sounds, and smells of the afternoon. The sound of music had just started to tingle in her ears when she found herself meeting with another. "Oh, dear!" She had managed to startle herself, and had hoped dearly that she had not harmed the young girl when she hit into her. "Are you okay, sweetie?" As she felt the young girl's hand grasp her arm, she felt the need to put her free arm around the girl's shoulders.

Emilie couldn't help but laugh as she looked around at all the colorful banners set up in the snow. It was her first time being a human again in centuries, just in time for the first Ice Festival in Aslan's Country. She had been to the ice festivals when she was a girl, at her sister-in-law's court, but (with no offense to Tamzin) it had been nothing like this. The feel of the crisp winter air, the scent of cinnamon and nutmeg, the warmth of the fires in the hearths, the sound of children laughing, and the rainbow of colors; it was enough to overwhelm the senses. Emilie loved it.
She heard the sound of musicians striking up, and was just turning around to look when she bumped into another young woman. Emilie reached out and grabbed her arm, both to steady the other woman and herself. "Pardon me!" She exclaimed. "I haven't quite gotten my sea legs yet."

Narnian Saga Family's second event
Heads Will Roll
October 1-31, 0001-end of the world: There is a place by Cair Paravel where dreams engulf the sky. They say a curse or spell once passed bewitches every eye and tell the tale of man or ghost sequestered on a horse-a headless fiend who stalks the night with wrath and no remorse.
With the arrival of autumn, a ghastly curse has descended upon the Known World, bringing with it an evil spirit that will leave heads rolling. No one is safe, yet not everyone will perish. Who controls this headless hessian, no one knows. When thunder roars and lightning cracks, the townsfolk near and far had better scurry, for who knows who will be the targeted victim tonight. Despite boarded windows and growing suspicions, the townsfolk will still find ways to celebrate the season and all hallows eve. Family and friends will gather to bake and hand out soul cakes, pray for their dearly departed, carve pumpkins and hand them out with messages, and make and wear masks to ward off evil spirits. Young souls will run through corn and wheat fields, and give their friends and loved ones a good scare with their games. The brave souls will go on haunted rides through rumored haunted forests, and explore castles said to be long haunted. On Hallowe'en, a Danse Macabre will take place. Parties and balls will be had, fate cake will be served, and heads will roll.
Events:
The Headless Horseman: a headless horseman will cause havoc all through the month of October, sending everyone into a panic yearly. This will be the main theme of the event.
Haunted rides and exploring haunted places: some notable haunted areas include the Shuddering Wood, Snow House, Cair Paravel.
Soul Cakes: soul cakes will be baked and handed alongside prayers said for departed relatives to commemorate them.
Masks: masks will be made and given out to ward off evil spirits.
Fate Cakes: fate cakes will be made at parties, with needles, thimbles, coins, and rings baked inside for this favorite party game. If your slice contains a needle, your are destined to the fate of spinsterhood. If your slice contains a thimble, coin, or ring, you are destined for riches.
Pumpkin Carving: Pumpkins will be carved with cheeky messages, invitations, and spooky faces to be left on doorsteps of friends and family.
Danse Macabre: masquerade balls will be held in churchyards, graveyards, and castles throughout the Known World, including a massive grand masquerade ball to be held at each reigning castle throughout the world.

susan was the last person they were waiting for to complete their family in aslan's country - and everyone expected to wait for quite some time before her arrival came. just now long, no one was sure, because it had been explained to jacquetta after she herself first arrived in aslan's country that time worked differently in the strange land called earth than it did in narnia. so imagine the surprise jacquetta had felt when she looked up on the first day of the yuletide festival in saltwater court palace and her eyes fell upon susan - someone jacquetta considered to be her extended family.
jacquetta had kept herself in the background of susan's life so far in aslan's country, letting her closer family members relish in her company first and foremost. but just a few days later, jacquetta agreed to accompany the family on a trip to the frost fair. while she had never had children herself, it was always a fun activity she had enjoyed doing with her nieces and nephews in narnia, and she was happy to see the fair back in action in aslan's country now that narnia had been destroyed.
perhaps her giddiness had become infectious for the others - because just as she bent down to sneakily form a snowball to whip at her twin sister, the others had done the same and suddenly snowballs were flying left and right, over her head. until one hit her smack dab in the face - thanks to rayne - and it thrilled her. her laughter rang out across the fair, and she happily whipped the snowball in her hand at susan. oh, how she had missed her philosophical friend. her heart soared seeing how happy susan was, and how happy she seemed to be with her family again. "i made that one just for you, su!" jacquetta giggled as she jumped to the side. "with special love, for your first year back with us!"
one thing rayne had expected to take years yet to happen is for susan to appear in aslan's country - not a mere months. but she wasn't about to be upset when her beloved sister-in-law walked into saltwater court palace and announced her arrival to their eternal heaven. of course, it was heartbreaking that susan had died in her world at such a young age, but it felt good to have their family whole again, and it had felt amazing to hold susan in her arms and have the deep conversations they had been known for in their past.
therefore, susan's arrival had made their first annual celebration of yuletide in aslan's country that much more special. rayne's first days had been spent spending time with loved ones and new friends alike, before rayne had finally ventured out of saltwater court palace to partake in the many festivities - the first of which being the frost fair. rayne hauled up her children and off they went to have fun with their cousins.
during her lifetime, rayne had always enjoyed the frost fair, but had never played like the kids always would. but this year, it must have been something in the air, for all at once, rayne, susan, arlise, and jacquetta had the same thought - snowball fight! rayne's first throws had not landed their intended targets, but once she got back into the habit, she found it much easier for her aim to be successful. the playful jests from her sister-in-laws seemed a massive help in the matter as well, and rayne's next throw landed in target smack in the middle of the face - jacquetta.

certainly, the most unexpected thing that had happened since the destruction of narnia and reuniting with edmund in aslan's country was the arrival of susan, at the start of their yuletide celebrations. but arlise had missed susan dearly, and had spent far too long without her sister-in-law in her afterlife. arlise knew that susan hadn't truly forgotten about them - she understood all too well the reality of living when your loved ones are in a separate world. she couldn't find fault with how susan chose to grieve her many losses from narnia while continuing to move forward on earth.
it was with a full and happy heart that arlise welcomed the first celebration of yuletide in aslan's country, happy to once again celebrate traditions from her time in narnia with her family and friends. it was something she had missed during her prior years in aslan's country, and now that narnia had been destroyed she was very welcoming of the changes happening throughout their eternal kingdom.
the frost fair had always been a favorite event for arlise - just seeing the joy on all the children's faces was something she would forever love and cherish. but this year, things just felt different. apparently, their entire group had thought the same thing - at the same time. with nothing but giggles escaping her lips, arlise quickly ran behind a pillar and scooped up a fresh snowball, delicately smooshing it in her hands to form a ball before whipping it at susan, whose playful taunts quickly brought up the competitiveness within her. "oh, who has bad aim now? looks like rayne does."

"1500 years... Goodness, what a thought. Hard to wrap one's mind around." Arlise's eyes grew ever so slightly in size as she thought about what 1500 years of history meant - 1500 years of history after her existence. It just went to show how easy it was to forget that life goes on after your own existence ends.
"Please. I would love to hear what has become of your house after my time. Clearly, Arthur and Eugenie made it out safely...?" She speaks the question aloud, half to herself, and half to Percy, to assure the safety of her friends, despite the fact that they, too, are now in Aslan's country, the same fate of death coming to everyone in this land at some point or another.
"Oh goodness." Percy paused as it dawned on him that Arlise wouldn't know any of the history of his entire house, his entire way of life. Everything had happened...after her. What a thought to realize they had lived 1500 years apart and yet here they were now, talking to each other.
"Well, I was born in the year 2475." He said softly. "The North was...my entire life...until I married my wife anyway. She's descended from you actually." He paused. "That's a weird thing to say, isn't it? Everything about this place is weird." He sat back down on the fountain heavily and sighed before looking up at Arlise. "Would you like me to catch you up on 1500 years of the history of House Hart?"

"Most of my childhood was spent during the end of the white witch's reign - for a long time I thought I would know of nothing but the harshest of winters. I always found winters afterwards to be quite pleasant, because they were never as bitter as they were during that terrible reign. Although it did give me quite the skills with snowball fights, snow angels, and snowmen." She smiled fondly thinking back on the past - and with the knowledge that she could once again revel in those simple joys.
"House Hart? In what year..?" Arlise got a quizzical look on her face, as she thought back to those of House Hart that she knew from her time in Narnia, before the massacre. "And when did the North come into play for your house? It was always quite barren during my time.. But I suppose things would have changed. But I never did learn of Arthur and Eugenie's fate before..." She cut herself off from finishing her thought - no need to bring up her murder.
Percy couldn't help but laugh. "That's exactly what my sister would do as well. Although, with Pippa, it would come with some sort of insult." He glanced around conspiratorially, half expecting her to pop out of the ether to nail him with snow. Their bond had not abated in death and if anything, he thought it might even be stronger now. She might appear just because he thought of her.
"We grew up in the mountains, so she's quite adept at snowballs." He smiled fondly, remembering the childhood snowball fights that Pippa always managed to ruin once she was losing by resorting to hurling chunks of ice. He looked down, and realized he was still holding onto Arlise's hand. "OH! He exclaimed, letting go. "I'm Percy, by the way. Percy Hart. I got distracted. I don't know that I've ever met another twin before. They're quite rare in the North."

"Oh." The single word escaped in a surprised whispered hush. She certainly wasn't expecting to get this response - she hadn't experienced someone jump to their feet upon meeting her since before her Edmund had left during their golden reign. But it only took a moment for Arlise to recover and return to her senses.
A warm smile graced her features as she watched the mystery man before her. Graciously, as she felt the man take her hand in his own, she gently squeezed as she shook his in greeting, thoroughly expecting to hear the man's name in return but instead becoming slightly confused by his statement.
"Indeed, I am a twin." Mischievously, she leaned forward and whispered: "But fair warning - if Jacquetta comes across you out here, she will not think twice about greeting you by means of a snowball thrown straight in your face instead of a 'hello'."
Percy shot to his feet. Finally, Percy was meeting one of the famed Pevensies. And not just any Pevensie, but the sainted one. His mother had prayed at the Sacred Shrine of Queen Arlise. She had prayed for the protection of her children during the war.
Percy didn't know whether he was supposed to shake her hand or kiss it. His father would say kiss it, but his father also hadn't made it into Aslan's Country so maybe he wasn't the most reliable source for proper etiquette when meeting a saint. Percy felt like he was in a fairy tale.
"You're a twin." He blurted out, settling on shaking her out-stretched hand.

It was almost overwhelming - the sheer amount of festivities and people around her. She was desperately craving a moment's peace, without the echoing voices of hundreds surrounding her. At this point, she was beginning to think that she would never meet everyone in Aslan's Country.
Bundled up in one of her favorite cloaks, Arlise made her way outside into one of the many courtyards. She was growing to enjoy the way winter was in this world - she still felt a slight chill in the air, but it wasn't as cold as it had always been before - and it certainly didn't touch upon just how bitter it had been during the witch's reign of her childhood. One of her favorite new pastimes was watching the slow fall of snow, the intricate designs of each flake as they landed in her dark hair, and the dancing swirls as they came down from above. Almost immediately, Arlise could hear the distant laughter of children echoing throughout the grounds - a much more welcomed sound than the chatter of hundreds of people gathered together in the court. As her eyes adjusted to the bright sun reflecting off the snow, her roaming eyes fell upon a dark-haired man whom she had yet to meet.
At the man's small smile and polite greeting, Arlise set out towards the fountain the man was sitting on, joining him as a smile graced her own features. "Hello." Her gloved hand reached out and brushed against the fountain, an old habit of brushing the snow away. "I don't believe we've met before. I'm Arlise. Arlise Pevensie."

"Oh, Eugenie is wonderful!" Percy exclaimed brightly. "She meets everyone from House Hart who wakes up here. Calls us all her children and tells us to call her Auntie Gene." His smile softened. "Actually, she says I remind her of you." He glanced up at Arlise.
"It's interesting actually, because we all wake up here in some version of Hartsridge. It must be Genie's doing because they were the only Harts to live at Hartsridge. After..." His voice trailed off for a second. Would it be insensitive to bring up when her family was slaughtered? Probably. "Anyway, they moved to the mountains in the late 1020s, into Hartsmoor. And that was where House Hart lived ever since. It's why I grew up in the mountains."
