im like sherlock homes when it comes to autistic safe foods. i was doing inventory on my cabinet (because why not) and there were 4 cans of spaghettios (5 when i first counted but then i ate one) and only 1 can of beef stew but I KNOW that last time my mother came home with groceries (5 days ago) she got one of the 10-pack boxes of the 15 oz beef stew cans and i have only eaten 3, and NOBODY ELSE in my house eats beef stew (no one else has even tried it because i eat it too fast for anyone else to even consider it an option) i would have also noticed the empty can by the dirty dishes so ive spent the last fifteen minutes searching in order to figure out where she has hidden the last 6 cans of beef stew from me. (I have looked through the basement pantry and every single cabinet in my kitchen) the rest of the box is on the left most side of the bottom center cabinet in my kitchen btw. i wish i was this good at math or actual riddles or some shit. what am i doing
#more rambling the tagggsss <333#idk im yapping#but about beef stew this time#theres always little in my house i can actually eat with ARFID#and when there is i typically have to worry about someone else getting it to it first (my dad and 3 brothers)#i think its a little obvious im maybe slightly paranoid#now that there is an actual abundance of food in my house i can eat and im acting like a feral animal over it#is this how normal people who eat normally feel?#i dont think so#i basically have a pantry in my room#i have 2 cans of beef stew and 1 can of spaghettios hidden under my bed. what has come to this. help.#arfid#actually arfid#arfid problems

i have no real desire to become a parent any time soon lol but oh, this is making me question everything…… (twt link, sfw fanart) dad!satoru thoughts under the cut 😔 (gn!reader)
imagine adopting with satoru and he treats your sweet little baby as the most precious thing in the entire world. and to the two of you, they are. you both love this little human so much and with every day, you watch as satoru blooms more and more into his role as father with misty eyes, so happy about the life you've built together.
he learns to braid hair and loves buying clothes and making home cooked toddler food. he takes courses about nutrition and child growth, learning about what vegetables and proteins to use and what to avoid in order to ensure your child the best of the best. he still makes cooking and eating fun, though. you're in awe at how happily baby gojo eats the food, so giddy in their excitement as you feed them.
and oh my goodness, satoru would absolutely spoil your child to no end!!!!!!! getting them all the toys and plushies they want, no matter the price or abundance of things you already have at home. he's also barely able to tear himself away from them if he has to leave for work. (if he even goes to work still lmao i can totqpally picture him quitting everything to solely focus on your home life now, finally living out his dreams as house husband <3333) every time he leaves, he misses the two of you soooo much, regularly checking in and you answer the phone with a slightly exasperated smile but with your heart fluttering at the enthusiasm all the same.
at night, he doesn't mind being the one taking care of your crying baby at all and they love the attention every time, immediately calming down once his arms come down around them to cradle them close. he reads to them, lies down next to them in bed, whispering little anecdotes and fairytales he's made up himself. sometimes you take them into bed with you, making sure they're nestled in safely between the two of you, satoru's finger clasped in their little grasp, and the little darling sleeps soundly through the entire night without making a fuss.
i just….. there's so much love and warmth in your household and your happy, little family is so perfect it's actually ridiculous sometimes. because it's something neither of you had ever thought a real possibility but now that it's real, you cherish it soso much. ok i need to cry about this now :'))))

stargazing.
i can feel your heart beatin' with mine underneath the stars lookin' for a sign glowing in the dark 'til the sun shines started with a spark now we're on fire
author's note: you already know the drill. i am a hoe for mutual pining between two idiot best friends who are so obviously in love. this one actually gave me chest pains and you'll see why.
song inspiration: stargazing by the neighbourhood.
The City of Starlight lived up to its name as the stars glittered over the horizon.
A cluster of constellations twinkled directly above the spot you had picked—a grassy knoll by the mouth of the Sidra River, which now lapped against the shore with its sapphire waves. It was by far your favorite place for stargazing because it was distant enough from the noise and excitement of Velaris, sandwiched between the colorful townhouses and the peaks of the misty mountains, allowing you the chance to fully appreciate the starkissed night.
You placed a hand on your hip as your best friend climbed the hillside, his strides graceful and effortless, reaching the clearing without breaking a sweat, which was more than what you could say for yourself.
“You know, I’m perfectly capable of carrying a picnic basket up this hill.”
Azriel raised a brow, the Illyrian warrior utterly unconvinced by your statement. “I’m aware, but I also want to eat sometime before midnight and with the way you’re going, the food will spoil before we even get a chance to taste it.”
You huffed in feigned offense and crossed your arms. “Not everyone has the privilege of being ridiculously tall. I mean, have you seen yourself? I get that you’re a brooding warrior and all, but anything above six feet is a little overkill, don’t you think?”
The shadowsinger chuckled, his hazel eyes sparkling with amusement. “My height is perfectly normal. It’s not my fault that you’re practically bite sized.”
You frowned, sticking your tongue out at him. “Come a little closer and we’ll see who’s biting into who.”
“I’m shaking in my leathers.”
Azriel rolled his eyes fondly and shrugged the knapsack off his shoulders before tossing it over to you. The bag containing your favorite blanket and a pair of pillows had derailed your journey for at least ten minutes because your stubborn friend refused to let you carry anything. In the end, you had bullied Azriel into allowing you to lug your own sketchbook and coloured pencils up the damned hill.
It was an admirable feat given that the shadowsinger was almost as unrelenting as you. Luckily, you could always rely on your secret weapon. A slight pout and puppy dog eyes and Azriel was practically putty in your hands. Needless to say, you weren’t above exploiting his soft spot for you to get what you wanted.
Mostly because you loved the fact that he could never say no to you.
"You're absolutely insufferable, shadowsinger."
“Big words for such a small female,” Azriel drawled as you arranged the blanket on the grass. “Careful with the wind, we wouldn’t want it to blow you away.”
You snorted in response, shooting a vulgar gesture over your shoulder. The shadowsinger snickered as you tossed the pillows onto the blanket, putting the finishing touches to your makeshift haven for the night. Azriel plopped onto the ground, stretching his long legs out on the gingham fabric. The moonlight hugged his winged figure, silver beams kissing his devastatingly handsome face.
For a second, you felt jealous of the moon.
While Azriel settled in, you started unpacking the picnic basket. Stored within was an abundance of cheese, fruits, meats, and crackers that you'd nicked from the House of Wind, along with fizzy seltzers that were spiked with wine. You fixed Azriel a plate and handed it over to him. He uncorked the seltzers and clinked his glass against yours with a wink. The two of you dug right in, stuffing yourselves full and getting slightly buzzed from the drinks.
Azriel propped himself up on his elbows, his features contorted with intense concentration as he watched you toss a grape into the air. He tried to catch it with his mouth, but it hit his nose instead, making you burst out into uncontrollable laughter. The shadowsinger looked utterly confused for a split second before his eyes narrowed in your direction. His gaze darted to the hand you were currently hiding behind your back.
“You’re cheating,” he said with a pout.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” you replied innocently. Behind you, your hand glowed scarlet from the use of your magic. “Maybe you just have terrible aim.”
“Show me your hands, then.”
“No one likes a sore loser, Az.”
Your friend pounced on you, nearly knocking your drinks over as he dug his fingers into your side. You gasped for breath in between high pitched giggles and smacked Azriel’s arm as he mercilessly tickled you. Shadows curled around you like smoke as though they were summoned by the sound of your laughter.
“You’re going to crush the cupcakes!” you exclaimed, wriggling away from the shadowsinger.
His dark head perked up at that. If there was anything you knew about your friend, it was that he had an insatiable sweet tooth. You swatted his hand away and pulled out the cupcakes you’d been saving for dessert.
Azriel eyed it warily. “It looks a little…deflated.”
You frowned, examining the less than fluffy cupcake. “Elain was teaching me how to make them, but then Lucien walked by shirtless and covered in sweat. They disappeared for a suspicious amount of time, so really I can’t be blamed if they turned out awful.”
Your friend chuckled and raised his cupcake to yours, clinking them together in a mock cheer. “Bottoms up, then.”
The second you bit into the cupcake, your face soured. Azriel wore a similar expression, grimacing at the taste.
“It’s interesting.”
“It tastes like shit, Az.”
Azriel snorted, patting you on the head. “It’s alright. You tried your best, bug.”
You flicked his hand away with a glare. “You know I hate it when you call me that.”
“But it’s so fitting. You’re cute and small like a lady bug.” You rolled your eyes in response. “Would you prefer something else? Bee? Hornet? Wasp?” Azriel was barely containing his laughter at your obvious annoyance.
“You’re a pain in the ass, Azriel.”
“Yeah but who else would eat your poison cupcakes and stargaze with you in the middle of the night?”
That earned him a small smile. Azriel winked and sprawled out on the blanket, his wings spreading across the comically small fabric. You sat cross legged, watching as your best friend gazed up at the stars. There was something magical about it. The way the silver beams of moonlight kissed his golden brown skin, the wind tousling his dark locks, the serene smile that spread across his lips. In his cozy striped sweater and sweats, Azriel was the perfect picture of peace. Even his shadows stilled, dripping like honey across his shoulders.
The sight tugged at your heart. It was perfect. Azriel was perfect and you needed him to see himself exactly how you saw him now.
You pulled out your sketchbook and coloured pencils at once, scribbling furiously. “Don’t move,” you said, trying your best to capture the moment.
The shadowsinger obliged, but instead of watching the stars, he turned his attention over to you. The colors blended with your magic as the image before you came to life. You mixed the greens and browns and golds, but somehow they seemed lackluster compared to the glazed honey gaze staring back at you.
Azriel watched as your magic sparked against the page. He knew how intense you could get when it came to your art, but he’d never seen you like this. After a few more minutes, you leaned back and scrutinized every inch of your canvas. You flicked your wrist and a small spark of scarlet magic spread through the page. Finally, you smiled in satisfaction.
“It’s perfect,” you murmured.
“Let's see this masterpiece of yours, then.”
You shook your head. "Not a chance," you said, clutching the drawing to your chest. "At least, not yet."
"So you're saying that there's a slight chance that you'll show it to me someday?" Azriel asked, brimming with curiosity.
In the years he’d known you, the shadowsinger had only seen a handful of your art. Usually he wouldn’t push, but there was something about the way your eyes twinkled with emotion that made him want to prod.
“Eventually,” you replied with a soft smile. “When the time is right.”
Azriel didn’t get the chance to ask what that meant before you stashed the drawing away and shuffled beside him. You laid down across his stomach, grinning as you playfully flicked his nose.
“You’re supposed to be watching the stars, not me.”
“I can enjoy more than one beautiful view at a time.”
You flushed, inclining your head towards the skies so Azriel wouldn’t be able to see the effect of his words. For a while now, the two of you had been teetering that precarious line between just friends and something more. The chemistry between you was visible to everyone. Ever since Kallias had sent you to be his emissary, you and Azriel had grown closer and closer, to the point where your presence in the Night Court had turned into a permanent position.
The shadowsinger had gained your trust with his quiet wit and sharp sarcasm. Little by little, he chipped away at your icy demeanor. In due time, you were both attached at the hip. Besides Kallias and Viviane, he was the only one you'd opened up to about your time under the mountain. Cursed by Amarantha, you were trapped in that wretched place with your cousin, unable to stop the wicked female from wreaking havoc upon the Winter Court. Despite your tremendous power, you were helpless. You lost so many of your loved ones during that time and the guilt had been a heavy burden to bear even after Feyre's sacrifice that led to your freedom.
Azriel showed you that you didn't have to do it alone. Together, you learned how to heal from the ghosts of your past. You found refuge in the dark.
You found a friend.
Whatever it was between you and Azriel, it was something monumental. It wasn’t a fleeting crush or a silly notion of romance, but a magnetic force that had been drawing you together even before you met.
It felt scary. Like jumping off a cliff and into the raging sea. Though you weren’t the type to balk from a challenge, even you had to admit that it was terrifying. But you knew that you had to take that leap of faith sometime.
You gazed up at the shadowsinger and found him watching you. The smile that spread across your face was instinctive. “Thanks for coming out here with me, Az.”
“Anytime,” he murmured softly. Azriel weaved his fingers through your hair, curling strands around his knuckles. “I like watching the stars with you. It’s kind of nostalgic, really.”
“How so?”
Golden eyes flickered down to you as his voice dropped to a raspy whisper. “When I was younger…when all I knew was darkness, I always dreamt of the stars.”
Your heart ached for a young Azriel, trapped in the dungeons by his cruel father. The experience alone should’ve made him a hardened and bitter male, but your friend was anything but. Despite everything Azriel had endured, there was this resiliency to him that always amazed you. He had such a unique capacity for light and love.
You intertwined your fingers in his, squeezing gently. He smiled faintly before continuing. “My shadows used to describe the constellations to me. The positioning of the stars, how the night sky looked.” As though they heard his confessions, shadows swarmed around the both of you. “They still do, sometimes.”
A shadow curled like smoke towards a bright star in the sky. "That one is my favorite."
You looked up to where Azriel was pointing and felt your chest tighten. Your voice was shaky as you took a breath. “There’s a legend in the Winter Court about that star. There was once a young goddess named Polaris who roamed Prythian, fated to be lost and alone until a light in the north guided her to the castle of a Fae Prince. He took her in and they fell deeply in love. Polaris married the young prince and together they ruled over our lands until the Daglan came. The prince died fighting against them. Polaris was so heartbroken that she asked the Mother to transform her into a star so she could always watch over the land where her beloved was buried.”
Azriel listened with rapt attention as you gazed up at the horizon, to a single star shining above all the others. The same one he had pointed at. “Today, we call her the North Star. It’s said that her light is meant to guide you to your other half, just as that star in the sky once led her to her prince.”
The shadowsinger went still underneath you. As you looked up, you found him staring up at Polaris with a burning gaze. You could feel your heart pounding in your chest as his eyes met yours.
Azriel swallowed thickly as his scarred fingers traced the outline of your jaw. Then softly, so low that you had to strain to hear him, he said the words that cracked your heart open. “I think you’re my Polaris.”
Tears welled in your eyes, but before they could fall, before the opportunity escaped you, you conjured the drawing from earlier into Azriel’s hands. The shadowsinger looked down at the moving image of him sprawled out across the grassy knoll, his wings flared out beneath him like some dark prince, a soft smile fixed on his lips as he gazed up at the star shining brightly above him.
The North Star.
That’s what Azriel was—your north star. The beacon that led you straight home. The hope that you had held onto even in the darkest of times. Under the Mountain, you hadn't let yourself dream. You didn't think you'd ever get this chance, but somewhere deep down, you kept the story of Polaris and her Prince tucked away in your heart.
And it had led you here.
Underneath the light of the north star, in the city you now called home, in the arms of the male that had helped you restore and rebuild yourself after all that you lost.
All that was left was to take that leap of faith.
“You’re my north star, Azriel.” You said with a smile, silver lining your eyes. “You led me home.”
One of his shadows darted towards you, catching your tears as Azriel pulled you against him. He cradled your cheek in his hand, fingers trembling as he looked at you. Really looked at you, like he saw all of who you were and adored every part, even the jagged edges.
“Falling in love with my best friend,” he said with a slight smile. “That’s pretty cliche of us, isn’t it?”
Your laughter spilled into the quiet night, happy tears coating your cheeks. “Don’t ruin the moment, Az.”
The endearing grin on his face etched itself into the depths of your soul. “I wouldn’t dream of it, bug.”
As the north star twinkled above the City of Starlight, Azriel leaned in and kissed you for the first time.

How to Eat From the Food Bank/Food Pantry
I've seen a number of posts recently encouraging people to utilize their local food banks if they're struggling financially, as well as providing some basics on how one would go about doing that. I've been relying on the food bank myself for about six months now, and it's been very helpful. However, as somebody who was pretty new to cooking and was mostly using pre-made dishes when I did, when I first started going I found the food I was getting completely antithetical to how I cooked and ate and struggled to figure out how to utilize what I was getting. I'm sure I'm not the only person in this position, so I thought I would share the strategies I've learned for making the most of food bank offerings, and the best and most affordable dishes I've found to make with them!
What To Expect/What You'll Need
Food banks tend to cater to families, assume you know how to cook, and expect you to own kitchenware and have pantry space. So if you don't have them already, go to goodwill and get like a 13x9 cake pan, basic soup and frying pan, a stock pot, and a decent size mixing bowl for your own good. (You can get them like one per paycheck if you need to, or even ask friends and family if they have extras, but you Will need them.) You'll also want some cooking utensils, like ladles, spatulas, and decent knives. And God help you if you don't have much pantry space, because every flat surface in your house is now going to be covered in food cans and your crisper drawer will not be enough to hold all the fruit and veg you'll be inundated with. (Sadly, at least where I am, they don't give out milk and that's like a basic ingredient for a lot of the food they're actually giving you, so idk what's up with that.) They usually also assume you have a car, and if you're like me and don't, absolutely bring your own bags because they probably will not have any, reusable shopping bags are perfect for this. Bring more of them than you think you'll need.
Foods you will likely get at a food bank
produce (I frequently get potatoes, onions, oranges, carrots, squash, melons, lettuce, cabbage, green onions, salad mixes, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and so. many. apples. It's especially abundant during the summer and fall, when people will donate extra produce from their gardens and fruit trees. Good luck finding places to store all that, though.)
boxed macaroni and cheese
dried beans
dried pasta
bagged nuts
bagged rice
canned food (canned spaghetti/ravioli, applesauce, various canned vegetables, and many varieties of beans-- I've most frequently gotten pinto, kidney, navy, and black beans.)
a protein option (at my local one they usually offer a choice between eggs or an egg substitute and some kind of frozen meat, like fish sticks or breaded chicken.)
Foods I recommend you regularly buy yourself if they're not providing (most of which will be used in at least one of these recipes)
cheese (esp shredded)
milk
salt, pepper, and dried spices/herbs (these are not too expensive generally, if you buy them like a week at a time you can get a nice collection in not too long, and if it comes to that they are very easy to steal, but sometimes food banks will give them away as well.)
butter
cooking oil (olive oil is used in multiple recipes I'm sharing here, so that's what I'd recommend-- sadly it is spendy.)
garlic (it makes everything better, honestly, and it will last a long time in your cupboard, too.)
marinara/spaghetti sauce or other pasta sauces (now most these place are already giving out cans of sauce, so why bother buying any? Because they exclusively provide only the blandest, most watery, most worthless canned marinara/tomato sauces known to man. Do not bother trying to use these on pasta-- you can use them for other things, though, which I'll get to. But you'll need something to put on all that boxed spaghetti.)
Go-To Dishes for Food Bank Ingredients:
7 Can Soup - I am not exaggerating when I say this is now the staple food in my diet. Thankfully it is tasty, extremely easy to make, makes enough to last for days, gets better the longer it sits in the fridge, and can often be made with just what you get from the food bank. (Also great for popping in a tupperware for a comforting work lunch.) And you can buy the needed ingredients for less than $6 typically, so even if it's a bad week and they don't give you anything you need, this is still a very cheap dish to make. The basic recipe included here uses pinto, kidney, and black beans, plain diced tomatoes and diced tomatoes with chilies, corn, beanless chili, and a cheese of your choice, but you can easily change it up or add ingredients as well.
My way: I add dried spices, usually a little garlic salt, pepper, and a dash of paprika; as for cheese, shredded Mexican blend is my favorite for its smoothness but pepper jack is great too, and I often mix different kinds. I also play around with the beans I use depending on what I get, but also to taste-- using ranch beans instead of one of the standards is especially nice, and gives a richer flavor. (I haven't tried it with dried beans, but if you have bagged and not canned, I'd assume you could get away with substituting one of the the canned options for a dried one, but not more than that or the flavor will be too weak.) If you prefer a brothy-er soup throw one of those aforementioned tasteless-ass canned marinara sauces in with the beans, it adds more liquid without watering anything down. You can easily add a cooked meat in as well, I love throwing sliced kielbasa in when I can get it. And I usually wait until an old batch is getting low, throw a little water into the pot to soften the leftovers up, and then drop a whole new batch of ingredients in with it, it adds the more intense flavors of the older soup into the new batch (and means I don't have to wash the pot out in between.)
Rumbledethumps (Vers. 1, Vers. 2)
This is a baked Scottish comfort food with a great name. I regularly get given cabbage when I go to the food bank and for a long time was like, what can I possibly do with this? I also frequently end up with a lot of potatoes, more than I need. This dish uses up both of those, only requires a few additional ingredients, and is pretty easy to make even if you don't cook. (Also cabbage, onions, and potatoes are pretty inexpensive, too, so if you're missing one that's not prohibitive.) I've included two recipes as examples, but there are lots of variations you can make, and upping or lowering the amount of cheese, throwing in garlic or spices, or adding or forgoing meat makes it easy to still reliably make regardless of what ingredients you have or how much you have to spend on extras. (I would say, if you can add more cheese, do it, but then I am a cheese-loving gal.)
Briam (Vers. 1, Vers. 2)
This Greek dish is just designed to use up produce and I LOVE her for that. Early on I was absolutely bewildered by all the produce I was getting, and constantly struggling to use it up before it went bad, and briam solved all those problems. And it tastes and smells Divine. I even made it for Thanksgiving this year. Cooking know-how needed is minimal, and the prep is the most labor intensive part, then you just throw it all in a cake pan and put it in the stove. In a typical week you will probably get most of the vegetables you need to make this, and may need to buy a couple squash or tomatoes at most, as well as a few fresh herbs, so it's very affordable. And not only decadent, but a really nice break from a lot of the more processed dishes you'll get-- also vegan!
I've included 2 versions, one is a written recipe with photos, the other is a video of someone prepping briam (the first dish in the video), and while it doesn't provided measurements for everything, includes a lot of ingredients that the written recipe doesn't. My own method combines both of these recipes, so I wanted to share both, but also having a video example is nice sometimes, too.
My way: I've prepared dozens of different versions of this since I started making it depending on what veggies I have while generally falling somewhere between both versions, and it's always delicious. The key is to make sure you balance out starchy and watery vegetables-- look at the suggestions in Vers. 1 and try to keep whatever substitutes you make to the same proportions. (Also if you use carrots, wait until they've gotten a little soft and bendy; fresh, hard carrots will take longer to bake than all the other vegetables and won't cook soft in time otherwise.) For flavoring ingredients I rely on garlic, dried thyme, green onion, Italian parsley, fresh dill, and rosemary, preferably fresh if I can afford it. Sadly herbs are expensive, so if you have to pare it down, garlic, parsley, green onion, and fresh dill are all you really need (I can't skip the dill, it's So Important for me.) and use dried herbs to fill it out. I also like to chop up half a regular yellow onion (or several smaller ones) into fairly small pieces as additional flavor layer, then I use a whole red onion diced into big pieces as part of the regular ingredients. I use twice as much salt as the recipe suggests and only about 2.5 1/4 cups olive oil instead of 3, and skip the tomato paste (you won't need it.) I roughly peel my potatoes as well as any cucumber or zucchini (I tend to find it a bit bitter if I don't). I also like to cut up all my large veggies and throw them in a large mixing bowl, then dice up all my fresh herbs into a smaller bowl, where I combine them with the salt, garlic, and dried herbs, and 1/4 cup of olive oil; then I pour the herb bowl into the veggies, mix them well so everything is evenly covered with flavorings and oil, then dump that into the baking pan, and then add the rest of the oil and water. (I like to get the last of the herbs and spices out by pouring one of the 1/4 cups of water into the little bowl first to rinse it, and then dumping that into the cake pan.)
Adasi (Persian Lentil Soup)
Haven't made this yet because I still haven't bought mint or turmeric, but it looks easy and delicious, plus it's not uncommon to get bags of dried lentils from the food bank, they last a long time, and they're not that expensive to buy either. It's also another vegan option! Also this is one of the few lentil soup recipes (and soup recipes period) that didn't involve blending it afterwards-- I do not have a blender or a food processor, as many people don't I'm sure, and certainly don't have the funds to buy one just to make soup with, so this recipe was a treasure! (Also the instructions say to soak the lentils overnight, but that's not actually necessary-- and you could get away with skipping the parsley or lemon juice, if you needed to.) I feel like this would make a great topping for rice, too.
Hopefully this well help anybody using the food bank to maximize what you're getting, as well as making the jump into real cooking less intimidating for those just starting out. Happy eating!

a success story ++ how i did it.
what did i get ?
so recently i manifested a new house + a superior job to mom ++ large amounts of money coming toward all of us. THOSE WERE UNDER A WEEK.
i also started building my dream wardrobe slowly with amazing clothing items. bought bags, my desired skincare products + desired makeup items too.
Eating sushi and dumplings for the first time !! DUMPLINGS WERE FIRE !! sushi was good, and i ate avocado for the first time?? i discovered I'm not into it in any way and removed it along w sushi from my life board at Pinterest (I was planning to be eating am sushi in my life along w avocado in my salads or wtv)
basically everything is going perfectly my way lately and everything feels very amazing.
what i actually did ?
A PINTEREST BOARD trust me, it's like a vision board and your mind needs a guide to know where it's going. make a Pinterest board with everything you want, and take a look at it affirming "my life is exactly like what I'm looking at rn" or wtv affs you like, you can use a sub too. Just add wtv you desire type of beauty, desired body, your lifestyle, fashion, grades, room, house, car, items, food. Literally everything ! I literally ate the same sushi that was in my board + bought same skincare and makeup products. It's so powerful. ( You can use a sub along w it.)
I had a mindset playlist. it included everything i ever thought i needed. yk like master manifestor / manifest for others ect.
it can be at any length tbh, depends on the how much time you have at morning! you can listen to the 10 mins the only sub you'll ever need by iwantitigetit or her recent one or v1per's whatever. You can ask for my recommendations too !
anyways once the playlist is ready (can even include one sub) you go prepare your daily affirmations. just a collection of affirmations that you'll repeat ×3 times.
For me - i had two parts of affirmations. Ones with self concept + self esteem + self love + self confidence affirmations.
the other with the i am a master manifestor, everything works out in my favour, i am living my dream life +++ specific affirmations with a feeling (creds to the owner) like I feel so safe and secure now that I have moved into my desired house.... something like that, the feeling can be gratitude.
AND THAT'S IT. Literally.
ill share the affirmations i used to say (creds to the owner since I stole them from random affs posts i saw in here + ig)
the affirmations.

house hunting prospects:
a two bedroom in a "bad" part of town for a $1000 pros: close to all the good hood food spots and public transportation is decent cons: will gain weight from eating at all the good hood spots, friends won't visit because that's the hood (it ain't even that bad but my friends are soft)
a glorified closet in a trendy neighborhood for $900 pros: neighborhood is fantastic super walkable close to the bike/walking trail and grocery stores and all that cons: $900 for 220 square feet is it crack that you smoke
a "income restricted" 1 bedroom for $980 pros: ????? cons: it's income restricted but they want 3x the rent??? damn near $1000??? for central city an actual bad neighborhood with nothing but corner stores and churches within walking distance limited public transportation and they shoot every night over there for $980 please say sike right now
$1000 for a basement apartment in the neighborhood I live in now pros: this neighborhood fucks hard super walkable an abundance of public transportation like 5 grocery stores can walk to the park feels safe enough walking home at night cons: $1000 for a basement apartment in midcity were it floods if you think about the rain too hard
in conclusion we need to go mao and start killing landlords what the fuck

I wish you a happiest birthday!
Since I've been with you, the end of the year has become even more special, as you have your birthday two days before the new year. It makes me reflect on not only what I've done in a year, but also recalling memories of what we've been through together. So, allow me to tell you about your 29-year-old as seen through my eyes.
A year ago, we start your new age by doing the groceries shopping at Lidl. We intended to eat outside afterwards in a café nearby Bennekom Centrum to celebrate your birthday, but then we decided going back home since we were afraid to miss dzuhur prayer if we ate outside. No surprise and gift like what I used to do years before, we ended up just eating pizza and ice cream cake in the kitchen. At that time, we still lived in the previous housing owned by Rob -an old man with long white hair- at Achterstraat 22. Sometimes I feel bad when I flashback to that moment as I had very minimum effort for your birthday, even you often said that you totally didn't care about it. Sorry babe, you know that love cannot be measured by surprises, right? haha.
In the twelve months of your 29th year-old, I become more acquainted with you.
You are really a hard-worker, no wonder you get a good position in WKS before. You should remember how your colleague at distrik 5 often called you to ask for your advice related to the job-matter during the first three months you were here. I know how much you love your job, yet the fact that you chose to accompany me here and leave it all behind still impresses me. You work so hard and very responsible, even the job you are doing currently is completely different with what you had in Indonesia. Now, you finally can manage your time to study as well beside working. Fighting! I believe you will achieve it! Aamiin, bismillah.
I have no idea before that you are an extremely helpful husband. You said that my task is just study and cooking the meal. Your words melted my heart because you actually prove it. You help me with the house chores almost everyday (except during the time you were so busy working around 14 hours a day, but when you have free time you still help me tho. Despite it means that you only have like 4-5 hours to sleep huhu). Thank you for that, really appreciate it!
You always give compliment to the food I made, even I know that sometimes it is not tasty but you still ate it huhuhu. Little did you know that the most awaited moment after I cooked is your response towards my food, I love to see your expressions.
Traveling with you is the time that I always wait for. We have been traveling together to 8 countries so far in the past one year. Although sometimes there is a sad story behind it, such as losing our items and documents. But all in all, exploring new places with you never disappointed me (especially you are good at taking-pictures xixi).
I realized we do experienced the ups and downs of our "iman". But I should be thankful that you are constantly remind me to pray not at the end of prayer time and also to recite the Qur'an. The most beautiful sound that I want to hear more and more in our home is when you recite the Qur'an.
Of course it is not always rainbows and butterflies. We sometimes argues, mad, and do the silent treatments to each other. But I do not want to tell more about those things since it is your birthday! We should be happy :)
Overall, I wanna say thank you for everything. I hope your health soar high and live a long, fulfilling life. May Allah SWT always protect you, give you abundance happiness, makes your dreams come true, and forever shower His mercy upon our marriage. Aamiin.
Happy birthday, Abang!

Returned, Enjoying Life
Chapter 5 – Diving in Mabini
We just got back from a 5-day vacation to Mabini, Batangas, to get away, do a little diving, relax. Now before you get on my case about “getting away” when we’re already in paradise, there are some things that don’t change, regardless of where home is. Mundane things like paying bills, running errands, cleanup and repair around the house, etc., take up much of our time. No, we’re not shoveling snow like everyone in California, but we’re not sitting by the pool sipping Pina Coladas all the time, either.
Anyway, before I get to Mabini, a couple random topics.
(Sorta) Strange Fruit of the Day
It’s been a while since I’ve had a new fruit to write about! Georgia had heard about these but never tasted them – it’s a variety of coconut called the “Macapuno”. It’s smaller than a regular coconut, and considered special because it’s mostly filled with soft meat and very little liquid. In Viet Nam these cost up to 10x the price of a regular coconut. She found one in Mahogany Market (a super-sized farmer’s market in Tagaytay) and we hacked it open to give it a try.
Good? Well, meh, actually. As you can see it did have an abundance of soft coconut meat, and instead of water it had coconut Jello. But not a lot of flavor to me, very little coconut taste and not very sweet. We’ve got a lot of the meat, so maybe it’ll be better if mixed with some sugar or put to some other baking use.
Halo Halo
Halo Halo (Tagalog meaning “mix-mix” in English) is the ubiquitous Filipino dessert. Every first-time visitor to the Philippines is required by law to try it. I’ve done my duty and to me it’s OK but nothing I’d go too far to seek out. Others, Filipinos and foreigners alike, love it. It’s made with shave ice, sugar (or other) syrup, evaporated milk, chunks of candied fruits and coconut (nata de coconut), all layered in a tall glass, and usually topped with a scoop of purple ube (taro) ice cream. You’re supposed to mix it all up before you start eating (thus the mix-mix). Ube, BTW, is the ubiquitous ingredient in Filipino desserts. Pies, cakes, ice cream, you name it, you see that bright purple color. Getting back to the Halo Halo, it’s pretty sweet, colorful, lots of different textures.
And according to Georgia it’s a perfect breakfast food…
Mabini
Sorry to leave you waiting. Last week we drove to the Mabini peninsula, about 2-hours south of home. The area is also commonly known as Anilao (the name of the town at the top of the peninsula) and is recognized as one of the prime diving destinations in the Philippines. Although it has beautiful coral reefs and a few wrecks, it’s most famous for “muck” diving, which isn't really "mucky" but involves searching for and photographing little critters like nudibranchs or “nudies”.
We checked in for a 5-night stay at a dive resort, that per TripAdvisor was the #1 overall hotel and dive resort in Mabini. I’ve found that I can usually trust TripAdvisor ratings. Usually. This was the exception. The term “Resort” should have been left out the description, while “Dive” was competely appropriate. We’re not hard-core divers so we were looking to do a couple dives, explore the area, and spend plenty of time relaxing around the resort. We expected a nice resort, nice pool and grounds, excellent service. Not even close. After the second night we checked out and went looking at other resorts (there are 80+ on the peninsula), and found one just down the road that fit the bill nicely, an excellent French-owned resort named La Chevrerie, and for those who speak French, yes they do have pet goats.
Lovely pool and grounds, right on the ocean
Enjoying the view from our breakfast table
Not bad at all, just what we were looking for We made a couple dives as we’d planned, ate a lot, got massages, ate more, relaxed by the pool, and of course, ate again.
The first area we dove was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever experienced, a reef with hard corals, colorful crinoids, lots of soft corals, and plentiful fish. Here are a few shots from the dive.
Gotta have a clown fish or two!
Colorful crinoids, hard and soft corals
Georgia having a closer look
Up next was “muck” diving. Georgia had experienced an equipment malfunction on the first dive, nothing really serious - a buoyancy compensator with a leaky inlet valve. The BC slowly but constantly inflated, making it impossible for her to control her buoyancy. With no spare on the boat and being tired from fighting the BC, she opted out of the muck dive.
The divemaster knew there would be a small current so he planned a “drift dive”, where you just let the current push you along as you look at things, and hope that the boat follows you. This plan started out well, but soon we found ourselves on an express train, a very strong current pushing us out to sea and into deeper water. The divemaster signaled that we should turn and get out of there. I swam as hard as I could for a while, but soon tired and found that I was starting to move backwards again. I just grabbed a rock and hung on, catching my breath, hoping that the DM had a plan to get us out of there. He apparently knew that if we climbed the ridge we were holding onto and got out of the channel we’d be OK. So, after a few minutes resting I pulled myself up, rock to rock to rock. Luckily he was right, and soon we were in pretty calm water and continued a nice dive. Many “nudies”! Divers love them because they stay still while you take pictures! BTW, for this trip I’d upgraded my equipment with the addition of a good dive light on a frame that also holds my camera. Amazing what a good light does for the colors!
A sampling of "nudies" for you
Things That Will Kill You, Underwater Edition
Don’t step on this guy!
Until next time, take care!

People You Know - iii
warnings: mentions of blood, death, toxic relationships, child birth
just so that you all know, the tradition thats in this series is entirely fictitious i made it up, unless this tradition is real then yeah i got it from there, i didn't find any Maori traditions like this <3
A whole week had passed, a week since the premiere, a week since Camila told Amiria about her encounter with Jack.
At first Amiria choked on her tea, then she processed what her best friend said, then made a face that would definitely mean something along the lines of, ‘What the actual fuck?
Then Camila went on and explained everything that he said to her.
But like expected, Amiria didn’t budge. Her decision stayed the same. She didn’t want to see him. She was ready to but that didn’t mean that she wanted to.
Since then Camila and the Campbell women travelled back to Amiria’s house in Atlanta and were preparing for one of Amiria’s favorite traditions and the most significant for her as a new mother.
It was a tradition that was brought into the Campbell family by Aroha herself. Back when Amiria parents were in their early stages of dating her father was invited by his current wife to a very special evening where they celebrate the lives of both the mother and the newest edition to the family. Now to be very honest Aroha’s side of the family births were very peculiar and worrying. From being born in the middle of New York traffic to almost bleeding out during child birth.
The tradition started with Amiria’s great great great grandmother in the 1800s and ever since it’s just continued throughout and has held her family together and strengthened the bonds, especially with the in-laws and no matter how dissolved and faded the Maori side of the family became this was the one with that always stuck.
That’s one of the reasons Amiria absolutely loved the tradition.
It’s the reason she was so excited to begin with.
Having her family in the city that had become a second home to her and them having the opportunity to meet her beautiful baby daughter erased any and all worry that has been in her mind recently.
As Aroha, Camila and Amiria spent a couple days shopping for decorations and ingredients to make Amiria’s favorite foods , she seemed to have completely forgotten about Jack as a whole. All she could remember from the premiere was how much fun she had, dancing, singing and celebrating with her co-stars.
Now all she was feeling was an abundance of excitement. Within the next couple hours all of her closest family would be in her house.
And that’s all she could focus on.

Jack had spent the last couple minutes looking through Camila and Amiria’s stories on Urbans phone as the latter along with Neelam was getting ready to go.
All he could see was the two friends shopping and enjoying themselves, preparing for the festivities that were approaching within the hour.
He smiles to himself as he hears her laugh again, he’d been deprived from the real thing for too long.
That’s how it’s been since she left. Amiria had blocked Jack on everything, from her Twitter to iMessage, Jack had no way to contact her. So he’d use Urbans phone to see how she was doing how Ani was doing even though Amiria hadn’t posted a single picture of her daughter on the internet.
He thought it was smart, kept her out of the public eye, she was far to young for that.
He also knew that she still kept in close contact with their mutual friends that she met through them, but only invited Dru, Neelam and Urban.
Amiria was actually the person who introduced Jack to Druski when she was invited to an event he was hosting. At the time the two had been very good friends for just over a year, were and still are like brother and sister.
Urban and Neelam on the other hand just remained in contact with Amiria and checked on her as much as possible. Sometimes they would visit her when they were in town, especially before the big fight that ended everything.
Even though they’ve all been a lot busier, they still keep in touch.
Part of Jack wanted to beg the three of them to not go but he didn’t want to ruin her day.
With Neelam waiting in the hallway of the hotel the three were staying in, Urban goes to Jacks room to get his phone. He walks in to find Jack lying on his bed with a frown, scrolling through more of her posts or posts of her co stars with her.
When he sees Urban he switches off his phone and gives it back.
“You can’t keep doing this.” Urban scolds as he looks at the state of his best friend. “Especially after the stunt you pulled last week.”
“What else am I supposed to do? She won’t talk to me.”
“You aren’t entitled to a conversation with her.” The moment those words leave his mouth, Jack roles his eyes. “I’m telling you the truth. Ami doesn’t owe you anything. Especially after everything you put her through.”
“I wasn’t that bad.” Jack says trying to defend himself.
“She has the right to take as much time to think about whether she wants you in her and Ani’s lives or not. You have to give her that time.” Urban scoffs. “I thought after fifteen months you’d realise that you genuinely fucked up.”
“So you’re taking her side.”
“Get over yourself! I will always support you but for this I can’t. Amiria is being a mother. She’s protecting her daughter from as much pain as possible and that includes you after you clearly showed her the kind of father you’d be.”
“That’s not fair, I was pissed that day.”
“That’s always been your excuse when it comes to her.” Urban purses his lips as he felt his more protective side come out. “I’m sorry man but Neelam, Dru and I are going to be supportive friends. Clearly this is important because she wouldn’t be having this thing 6 months after Ani was born.”
Urban makes his way to the door. “What do you mean? I thought this was just another family tradition.”
“It is Jack but Amiria told us multiple times that this happens because if the mother or the child or both have a dangerous and risky birth. The same event happened with Mrs Campbell when she was 6 months old, Amiria when she was 6 months old and clearly this is happening because somehow bad happened the day Ani was born.” Urban says quickly before leaving, not being able to see the dumbstruck expression on Jacks face.
If something really bad happened while Amiria was in labour, is there a chance that she could’ve been dead today? Is there a chance that Ani could’ve died in childbirth? Is there a chance that they both could’ve died that day?
He had to try one more time. If he was going to properly give her space he had to let her know how sorry he was. One more time.
***
A few hours had passed and Amiria’s house was filled with her loved ones. Ani was in the arms of her mother for the first two hours before Amiria put the baby in her room for a short nap, while keeping the baby monitor close by.
She’d been talking and catching up with her family. From her grandparents to the youngest cousin of the family only bing twelve. The night was turning out better than she could’ve ever hoped for.
For the past couple minutes, Amiria and Camila had been sitting with Druski, Urban and her cousins Dolores, Margo, Maia and Marcel. Listening to every single embarrassing story that came out of the groups’ mouths. As much as Amiria should be feeling mortified, she was laughing her ass off with the rest of them.
It had been awhile since her family was together. Now this was only like an eighth of them but nevertheless they sent their love. By love I mean parcels and envelopes filled with cards and presents for her and Ani.
She was just happy that her cousins and best friends her getting along so well.
Everything was perfect.
Absolutely perfect.
But the more anxious side of Amiria and her gut told her that something out of the ordinary was going to happen tonight, but like usual Amiria fashion she pushed it to the back of her mind and continued to enjoy her company.
She then hears Ani’s faint cries on the baby monitor. “That’s my cue, I’ll bring her down.” Amiria says as she pushes herself off the couch, takes the monitor with her and goes upstairs.
The moment Ani’s eyes land on the familiar women her cries begin to hush down and she hums to herself as she uses her short chubby squishy arms to reach up for her mother.
A sweet smile forms on both of their faces. Ani let’s put a squeal as Amiria lifts her up and blows into her stomach. The two spend a few moments laughing before the woman moves her to the changing station.
She places gentle kisses on her daughters head as she places her on the table. She quickly unbuttons Ani’s clothes and removes the dirty, foul dipper, wraps it up and throws it away.
“You know everyone downstairs is here for us.” Amiria says to her daughter who just wiggles her tiny fingers in response as her mother wipes her and grabs a fresh dipper. “Because of how far we’ve come together.”
She lifts up the lower part of Ani’s body and slips the dipper under. “And we’ll go very far, just the two of us.” Ani coos as Amiria presses down the straps before taking the dress out of her daughters drawers. “And I will protect you from every single bad thing on the planet. As long as you have me, you’ll never be alone.”
She continues as she slips on the purple dress. “You and me, just the two of us, we’ll be okay.”
That’s something she’d been saying to her daughter quite often, especially recently.
Amiria sticks her pinkie out in-front of the baby, attempting something. Instead Ani wraps her small hand around the finger and pulls it to her mouth. The older woman chuckles as she pulls herself out of her daughters grip, to which the baby responds with a pout. Amiria just watches her daughter with complete adoration before she’s pulled out of her thoughts with a knock on the door.
“Come in!” Amiria says as she zips up Ani’s dress.
She expects it to Camila but she’s shocked but relieved to see Maggie Harlow.
The moment Ani’s grandmother walks in she takes a moment to gaze around the room. The walls coated with lilac paint, beautiful plastic butterflies hang from the ceiling and picture flames scattered across the wall. With her cot in one corner ontop of the soft, plushy carpet, the changing station not to far from it and a matching sofa for the times Amiria, Camila or Aroha would spend keeping an eye on Ani. A box of toys and the wardrobe right next to it.
Maggie hand ever been in Amiria’s new home before. She had visited numerous times back when she lived in her loft. While Jack and Amiria were still dating, she’d sometimes come and visit her while Jack was away. This was a very rare case for Maggie, she often never put this much effort into keeping in touch with Jacks numerous girlfriends but something about Amiria Campbell felt different.
She was much kinder, more mature, compassionate, Maggie could go on and on about why Amiria was perfect for Jack to her husband who would say the same thing. Unfortunately their son poked the bear to much and he lost her.
“This is beautiful.” Maggie says as her eyes scan the room in awe. “Looks much better than in the pictures.”
Amiria giggles as Ani reaches up for her mother and practically clings onto her shirt the moment she’s scooped up into her arms. “Thank you, my dad actually helped with most of this so you should be saying that to him.”
“Only the best for his granddaughter.” Maggie wanders off to look at the pictures on the wall. Some of them had Camila in or Stephen and Aroha in but most of them, in fact six had just Ani and Amiria. Each picture had a date, for every month since she was born. The latest one had been taken today. A few hours ago actually.
Ani in Amiria’s arms; Amiria wears black baggy jeans and a light blue tank top while Ani wears a matching shirt and pants. The twos’ foreheads pressed together and a smile lingering on both of their lips. Maggie could practically picture the moment perfectly and it honestly brought tears to her eyes. The moment was absolutely beautiful. Taken only hours ago.
“She has his curls.” Maggie mumbles, a small smile forms on Amiria’s face, if there was one feature she wanted her daughter to have would definitely be his curls. “And his eyes, your mouth and hair colour.”
There’s a reason why Amiria looked more like her mother than father, it’s simple. The Kaihe women have very, very strong genes. It seems that the only thing that Ani had inherited from Jack would be his hair and eyes, otherwise everything else was completely Kaihe and a little bit of Campbell.
Amira takes a seat on the sofa and Maggie joins her. Ani rests on her mothers lap as she plays with her fingers.
“How have you been?”
“I’ve been surviving, I’ve just been busy these past couple months.”
“Filming must be tiring, especially with this little trouble maker.” Maggie says before tickling the baby’s stomach making sweet giggles escape her mouth.
“It is but it’s all worth it to come back to her. I miss her during the day.”
The two women spend a few more minutes talking before Maggie says something that shocks Amiria. “The first time I met you, I told Jack that he has to marry you.” Amira and Maggie both start laughing. “I’m serious, you were much younger then but I knew that you were perfect for him. Besides you gave me a granddaughter, why wouldn’t I want you to marry him.”
“Sometimes I wonder how different things would be now if I didn’t leave that day.”
“You left because you were doing what was best for you and Ani.” Amiria nods her head in response, she sniffs as she feels the tears form in her eyes and a lump in her throat.
“Do you think I’m a bad mom because I’m not letting Jack be apart of Ani’s life?” By now the tears were streaming down her face, Ani notices and frowns as she reaches out and places her hand on her mothers face.
“I would never think that. Neither does Brian.”
“I want to but I just can’t, not yet.”
“We understand, so when you do make sure it’s on your own accord. Nobody else should force you to do anything. You’re Ani’s mother, it’s your decision.” Maggie reassures her, Ani however sees that her mother is still crying and her lips start to quiver.
“Ani baby, I’m okay. Please don’t cry.” Amiria assures her daughter as she wipes away her tears and places a kiss on her forehead.
Maggie takes Ani just before Amiria stands up to freshen up in the bathroom. Minutes later the two women descend the stairs and join everyone else outside.
Camila had gathered everyone outside for the toast. It was tradition that the grandpa pat of the new born well the parents of the mother were the ones to make it.
Everyone holds a champagne glass of some flavour of sparkling juice. Another tradition, no smoking or alcohol, well anything that wasn’t baby safe at the gathering.
Amiria stands next to Camila with her daughter in her arms and a glass in her right hand. Her friends and family standing on either side while her parents stand across the group.
“Firstly, we’d like to thank all of you for coming to celebrate our beautiful daughter and granddaughter today.” Stephen Campbell starts, a sweet smile forms on Amiria’s face.
“Amiria baby, there will never be enough words that we could use to describe and explain how proud of you we are. How grateful we are that you’re alive, well and healthy. That you’ve managed motherhood and your career.” Aroha Campbell adds, tears start to form in the twos eyes.
“That you’re growing and healing everyday. Despite everything you’ve gone through over the past couple years, you have still managed to keep your shining smile on and raise your daughter.” Stephen continues with his eyes locked on his only child.
“You are everything and more of what we hoped for you. Taku tamahine ataahua,” my beautiful daughter. “I am so proud of you, of the woman you were then, you are now and who you’ll continue to be.”
“So let’s raise our glasses filled with sparkling juices.” Stephen starts making everyone raise their glasses. “For my amazing daughter and precious granddaughter. We wish you both a wonderful future filled with happiness, love and prosperity.”
“So here’s to Amiria and Ani!”
Then everyone screams. “To Amiria and Ani!”
Amiria immediately speeds to her parents with her daughter resting her head against her chest but her eyes still open, observing everyone. The family of three share a special moment as the guests continue talking amongst themselves.
After Amira and her parents play with Ani for a few minutes, her along with Camila go inside and sit on the couch.
Ani sits in between them fiddling with a some of her toys while people walk in an out the kitchen, taking a thing or two off the platters.
Just as Amiria is about to say something to Camilla, Ani nudges her mothers thigh. Amiria knowing what her daughter wants, scoops Ani up into her arms.
“I’m going to warm her a bottle.” She says to her best friend before walking towards the kitchen.
Just as she’s about to join her, Camila hears the doorbell ring and goes to answer the door. Her mistake was not checking the peep hole because the person she was greeted with the moment the open, was the last person who everyone wanted to show up.
“Shit.”
“You have got to be kidding.”
Jack and Camila say at the same time the moment she opens the door.
“You have 5 seconds to explain why you’re here or else I’m getting Mr Campbells machete.” Camila seethes making Jack take a small step backwards.
“I just want to talk to her, apologise again. Just please give me five minutes with her, I know she’s here-“
“Of course she’s here, do you have any fucking idea how important this day is to her?”
On the other side of the house, Druski, Urban, Neelam, Dolores, Marcel and Margo talk amongst themselves in the kitchen.
“Margo, can you please ask camila where she put the bottle I filled this morning.”
“Be right back.” Margo says as she stands up and walks towards Camila.
“Oh crap.” Druski says the moment he notices who Margo and Camila were with. The rest of the group turn their heads in the same direction and see the familiar rapper.
Before Druski, Neelam or Urban can say anything, Marcel and Dolores are speeding towards the three, the former trio scurry after them and are greeted with Jack pleading with the two women.
“Jackman I really think you should leave before Amiria or her parents see you.” Camila insists.
“I don’t think you understand how much our uncle and grandparents hate you.” Margo adds on. “ I didn’t think they were capable of hating anyone actually.”
“Dude, you really have to leave.” Urban says as the eyes of Amiria’s cousins and best friend practically burn into him.
“Just 2 minutes with her please, just let me make this right.” Jack begs once again.
“That’s it, I’m getting the machete.” Camila snaps as she tries to push her way out of the group that had formed behind her.
“I know where Amiria keeps her old cricket bat.” Margo adds on as she follows Camila.
The two women are stopped by Dolores who stops Margo by grabbing onto her shoulder and Urban who quickly takes hold of Camilas’ hand. As the two women try to break free while the others try get Jack to leave, they all seem to not notice the familia giggles coming from the kitchen.
“Margo you can tell Camila I found the bottle.” She pauses as she giggles at her daughters attempts to poke her face. “Stop poking my face!” Ani laughs this time, neither noticing who was at the door but now the group had noticed and they really didn’t know what to do. Jackman on the other hand wore a face of pure glee as she watches his soulmate play with their daughter. “I’m going to go feed her upstairs.”
Then Amiria stops when she notices the group huddling by the door. “What?” She walks closer, then pauses again. They all couldn’t possibly exaggerate when they say they saw all the colour drain from her face. The sparkle in her eyes that had been shining over the past couple hours had been extinguished. The funny thing is, Ani noticed and turned to her mother with a puzzled look before turning towards the unfamiliar man standing in the doorway.
Ani could tell something wasn’t right, this made her cling onto her mother even harder and keep a strong sharp glare on the man in the doorway.
“Jack?” Amiria’s’ voice trembles as the words escape her lips.
“We were trying to get him out-“ Camila begins explaining the situation before Amiria cuts her off.
“It’s okay I’ll talk to him.” Amiria nods to the group making them disperse, Margo and Camila remain.
“Are you sure?” Camila asks her best friend, who is taking deep breaths. The eye contact between her and Jackman hadn’t broken.
Amira lets out a deep breath through her nose as she clenches her jaw, nodding in response. She tries to hand her daughter over to Camila but the baby clings onto her mother shirt.
“Kei te pai mama.” Mama’s okay. “I’m okay baby.” Amiria assures her, Ani reaches up with her small hands to brush away the single tear that Amiria didn’t even realise escaped. She places a gentle kiss on her daughters head before handing her over to her Godmother. She gives Camila the bottle too before she follows the group outside.
Jack who had been waiting outside, had been watching through the window took time to fully appreciate how much Ani was like her mother. The empathy, compassion, the intelligence. From the dark brown tint in her hair to the complexion of her skin and the sound of them giggling together. She was an exact copy of Amiria in his eyes.
Treating her that way was truly his biggest mistake. He’s missed so much already.
Amiria steps onto the front porch of her home and closes the door behind her.
“What do you want Jackman?” Crap she used his full name, he clears his throat.
“Just to talk.”
“Fine talk.”
“I’m really, extremely sorry for everything that happened over the passed couple years.I wish I could take back everything I ever did-“
“Well you can’t.”
“Baby I just want another chance, please.” Amiria scoffs.
“How many times did I have to beg you for another chance when you were clearly in the wrong? How many fucking times did you ever apologise to me? How many months,no years, did I wait and hope you would change?” Amiria’s voice trembles again as she chokes back tears. Not of sadness but of pain and anger. “But my daughter didn’t change you because here you are.”
She takes a step closer, finger in his face. “Fifteen months later and the same self centred, narcissistic, manipulative asshole I left.”
Tears are streaming down both their faces, Jack attempts to cradle Amiria’s face in his hands but she takes a step back.
“Baby, I’m doing this because I love you and miss you.“
“If you loved me, you wouldn’t have treated me like that.”
“Bubs I loved you through all of that I promise you.”
“Then why did you do it?!” Amiria shouts, startling Jack. “Why did you make me feel like no one would ever love me after you, like no one else cared about me, like no one would ever put up with me or take me back if I left you. You made me think that my family and best friends gave up on me because I chose to stay with you. Despite everything you put me through I still loved you and I almost lost everything because of you.” Her breath shudders towards the end, she quickly wipes the tears away. “My career almost went down the drain because of you.”
“I know I hurt you and I’m so sorry for everything that happened but please don’t let what I did to you keep me out of Ani’s life. We need each other to get through this and -“
“Let me make one thing crystal clear.” She says as she takes a step closer, their faces inches apart, if this were normal circumstances then some else would’ve happened because of then small space between them. “We do not need you. Ani doesn’t fucking need you. I didn’t need you when I bled out and flatlined for 2 minutes after giving birth to Ani and I certainly do not need you now.”
“You what?” Jack says with look of pure horror on his face. His gut feeling was right
“I was dead for 2 minutes but Doctor Forbes bought me back and as long as I’m alive I will always protect my daughter. Even from you.” Her index finger touches his chest. “I never want her heart to be broken by you, like you broke mine.
Amiria shakes her head as she wipes away more tears, she walks back to the door. “Oh and Jack, move on dude this is what we are and forever shall be, so I suggest you move on.”

Ready - Sidney Crosby
Summary: Sidney Crosby - ex NHL star, the new coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the man every woman could wish for, a proud father. His daughter, Lily, is his ray of sunlight, the person he'll always love unconditionally, and when his new girlfriend walks in the picture, things take a turn.
A/N: @beauvibaby received an ask about this amazing concept and let me write something about it! Thank you sm girl! ❤️ Definitely not one of my best works or something I’m really proud of, but I decided to publish it anyway
Word Count: 7,4k
Warnings: talks of divorce and absent parent, swearing, mentions and allusions to sex, shitty ass writing
Nerves were eating you alive as you waited on the Crosby household’s front steps, your heart hammering against your ribcage. It wasn’t the new environment - you had been inside the mansion many times before - but rather the new acquaintance you were going to make.
She was a character constantly mentioned throughout the first stages of yours and Sidney’s relationship, a really important character. Lily - short for Elizabeth - was Sidney Crosby’s fourteen-year-old daughter, and as much as it scared you to meet your boyfriend’s daughter for the first time, you couldn’t avoid it any longer.
The front door opened quickly, snapping you out of your anxiety-induced trance to meet Sidney’s dark eyes, the smile on his face reassuring you just lightly. “Hi,” he said, voice gentle as always as he took in your sundress-clad body. “Come in, sweetheart,”
The cake you had made for the occasion was slipped out of your hands after a quick second, and Sidney’s hands were soft on your skin as he led you towards the kitchen with a hand on your smaller back.
“Smells good,” you whispered, leaning on the tip of your toes to press a kiss to his cheek. You let your head rest on his shoulder as you looked around the house again, remembering the familiar couch where you had cuddled together many times before, but also the kitchen aisle where more than just breakfast had happened.
Your cheeks heated up as the memories replayed in your head, extremely not appropriate for that moment. You were just about to meet his daughter, why were you thinking about your private time with him?!
“Dad, Kailynn is asking if I can go to her sleepover on Friday,” an unfamiliar voice said from the distance, the sound of footsteps making you panic. You distanced yourself from Sidney, smoothing the material of your sundress just before the younger girl walked inside the kitchen, her eyes focused on her phone.
“Lily-”
“Please? There won’t be any boys, I promise,” she interrupted her father, head still down to face her device.
“Lily, this is my girlfriend, Y/N,” Sidney’s words seemed to snap her attention towards him, her eyes settling on you before giving you a once-over. “Y/N, this is my daughter, Lily,”
“Hi,” you smiled her way, her hand shaking yours hesitantly as she analyzed you. “It’s so nice to meet you, Lily,”
She didn’t reciprocate your words, keeping silent as she sat down at the dining table, looking down at her phone again. You bit your lip, holding back a saddened sigh as you stayed by Sidney’s side, playing with your fingers.
He seemed to sense your discomfort, pushing you closer to his side as he finished cooking, plating the food for the three of you in silence. You found yourself sitting in front of Lily a few minutes later, her eyes looking at you as you awkwardly ate, your hands cold.
“Lily, will you stop that?” Sidney scolded her, dropping his fork on the table as he faced his daughter.
“Stop what?”
“Making things awkward,” he sighed, shaking his head as he poured you a glass of water. “How was school today?”
“Normal,” she mumbled, picking at her peas as she chewed on some salmon. “So, how did you two meet?”
“Oh-” your eyes widened, not ready for her question. “I work as a physiotherapist for the Penguins,”
“So you met at work?”
“Yes,” you nodded your head, taking a sip of your water to push down the lump in your throat.
“Are you in like, college or something?” Lily mumbled, making her father sigh out loudly.
“Elizabeth-”
“She just looks really young, dad!” Lily exclaimed, giving you another once-over as she waited for your answer.
“It’s fine,” you smiled Sidney’s way reassuringly. “I’m twenty-seven, I graduated college a couple of years ago,”
“Dad, what the hell?!”
Your eyes snapped up from your plate when she raised her voice, staring right at her father with anger as she waited for an answer. “She’s basically half your age!”
“Don’t talk about her like that,” Sidney warned her. “I can easily call Kailynn’s mom and tell her you’re not going to the sleepover if you don’t drop the attitude,”
“Whatever, I’m not hungry anymore,” she spat out, pushing her plate away before folding her arms over her chest, a scowl on her face as she glared at you. “Can I be excused?”
“No,” Sidney said, clenching his jaw before muttering his next words. “Y/N was kind enough to make your favorite cake, so you’re not excused,”
“Cheesecake?”
“Yes,” you breathed out, sending her a quick smile as you stood up to grab the container inside their fridge. “Your father told me you’ve always liked it,”
She hummed absentmindedly as you helped Sidney take the almost-cleared plates to the kitchen, focusing on the dessert just a few minutes later. You handed her a slice, cutting yourself and Sidney your own pieces as she tasted the cake, an unimpressed look on her face.
“It good, Lily?” Sidney asked with a smile, pressing a small kiss to your cheek when you handed him his plate. She took a few seconds to respond, standing up from her chair and grabbing her phone from her back pocket, checking the notifications before looking up at you and Sidney again.
“Mom’s recipe will always be better,”
She was out of the dining room just seconds later, leaving a saddened you and a pissed-off Sidney on your own. “Elizabeth!” Sidney yelled after the teenager, clenching his jaw when he got no response.
You sighed out as you ran a hand through your hair, sitting down to enjoy your cake in silence as you tried not to get too affected by Elizabeth’s behavior. “Y/N, I’m so sorry,” Sidney whispered, shaking his head as he sat down next to you, his hand grasping yours on top of the table. “I don’t know what’s gotten into her, she’s never been like that,”
“It’s okay, Sid,” you smiled sadly, putting your feelings aside for one moment to send him a smile. “I probably should have paid more attention to what I was saying,”
“It’s not your fault, sweetheart,” he whispered. “I’ll go talk to her later. Now, let’s enjoy some cake,”
You smiled his way before you pushed your fork to your lips, another bite of the dessert filling your mouth. Your mind moved elsewhere as you thought about the events of the night, and how much Lily’s words had affected you.
You were sure there was more to her, that maybe it just wasn’t the right time. You were convinced she was actually as amazing as Sidney had described her to be: kind, always smiling, the best daughter anybody could ask for.
Thinking about everything Sidney had said about her really made you realize just how close the two of them were, just how much he cared about her. So you gave yourself a mission, a goal.
You were going to make her change her mind about you.
-----
“And God, he was so rude!” You giggled, head resting against Sidney’s chest as you pushed a raspberry in your mouth. “Like, I just asked for this ointment and he literally side-eyed me,”
Sidney chuckled, letting his hand smooth the skin of your thigh as his eyes held yours, fondly smiling your way. “And what did you do?”
“I just paid and left. What else could I do?” You spoke, running a hand through your hair as your eyes focused back on the TV, where a quite boring reality show was playing. “How was work?”
“The usual,” Sidney stated, one of his hands linking with yours as he kept silent, eyes definitely elsewhere. “Evelyn called last night,”
Evelyn. Lily’s mother.
“Said she needed another check to take care of Lily,” Sid sighed, rubbing his forehead as he thought about the conversation again. “My checks are always abundant, generally more than what she could spend for Lily on the weekend, so I don’t get it,”
You sighed, your thumb caressing the back of his hand as the room fell silent. You had wished many times to learn about their situation, just why he had become a single father at such a young age, or why Evelyn had always been barely mentioned throughout the various months spent together.
It was always a silent wish, though, something you kept to yourself. Sidney needed to bring the conversation out on his own, whenever he felt ready. And you were willing to wait.
“I’m home!”
“Hey, Lily,” Sidney called back, muting the TV as you heard various items hitting the floor of the entrance hall. “How was tutoring?”
“Boring,” she sighed, her footsteps coming closer to the living room second after second. By the time she reached the doorway, her eyes found yours, her rather smiley face turning into a frown. “She’s here,”
“Hi,” you smiled, ignoring her glare and Sidney’s clenched jaw. “I brought some snacks, they’re in the kitchen if you’re hungry,”
“No, thank you,” she muttered, rolling her eyes. “I’ll be in my room,”
With that, she was out of the room, running up the stairs before Sidney could even try to get mad at her. He sighed, rolling his head back against the couch as he closed his eyes. “I’m sorry about that,” he mumbled, his free hand playing with the ends of your hair as you pushed yourself closer to his body. “I’ve talked to her after dinner, the other day, and I was hoping she’d stop,”
“It’s okay, Sid. I get her,” you whispered, planting a sweet kiss on his cheek as you looked into his dark eyes. “I’d be like that too, if I was in her place,”
Sidney fell silent again, your eyes scanning his face as he focused on the wall in front of him, a serious look on his face. “Hey, mister serious,” you mumbled, positioning yourself on his lap as your hands cupped his cheek, bringing his lips to yours. “Don’t worry about it, okay?”
“Okay,” he said with a sigh, stealing another kiss from your lips before you could pull yourself off his lap. “Where are you going, babe?”
“I’ve got dinner with my friend Sarah,” you reminded him, slipping on your shoes in a rush as you felt his eyes on you.
“Right,” he said, his hands finding your waist as he pulled you closer, your body standing between his spread legs. “Call me later?”
“Of course,” you whispered, leaning down to kiss him once more, struggling to pull away when his hands wandered to your ass. “Hands off, mister. I’m going to be late,”
“I know, I know,” he mumbled, pecking your lips again. “I love you,”
Your heart still hammered against your ribcage whenever he mentioned those three words, no matter how many times you heard them coming from him. “I love you, too,”
Before you could leave the house, you noticed that one of the bags of chips you had brought over was missing. Specifically, the one brand Sidney had told you Lily loved, and you were sure it was still there before the teen came home. She took it.
You left the Crosby household with a smile, that afternoon.
-
“What? No,” you scoffed, digging your fork in your salad as you looked at your friend. “Sarah, drop it. She’s not a brat,”
“Well, it sounds like it,” she rolled her eyes, taking a sip of her wine before she kept the conversation going. “She’s been giving you hell ever since she met you,”
“But I get her,” you admitted. “I’m crossing her territory and she’s not happy to have me there, especially since I’m dating her father,”
“She literally mentioned your age gap as if you were still underage dating her father, Y/N,” Sarah spat out, her eyebrows raised as she spoke the truth, a sigh leaving your lips. “Didn’t she mention she didn’t like your cake? Where did her manners go?”
“She said her mother’s recipe would always be better,” you mumbled, pushing your food around the plate as you really thought about the situation.
“She basically told you your cake sucks,” Sarah said, honesty coming out of her words as she stared at you. “Y/N, you deserve better than that, come on,”
Biting your lip, you sighed. Sarah was right, you didn’t deserve Lily’s treatment, and you didn’t want Sidney’s relationship with Lily to be destroyed all because of you. That was a nightmare that, in some ways, often kept you up at night. You would have never forgiven yourself, if you ruined Sid’s relationship with his own daughter.
“Listen, I’m in love with Sidney,” you admitted, running a hand through your hair. “And I will try my best to make things work between Lily and me,”
“That’s good,” Sarah mumbled. “But I still think you deserve to be treated better, especially by a girl half your age,”
“I know,” you sighed. Silence set between you and your best friend as you ate in silence, both of you clearly in your own thoughts.
“You did deliver a hot guy, though,” Sarah started, holding back laughter when you giggled. “I mean, a total DILF, so I get you,”
“Sarah!”
-----
You were humming under your breath, getting the studio clean and tidy at the end of the day with a smile on your face. It was Friday - almost the weekend - and you wanted nothing more than to go home, enjoy a glass of wine in front of the TV, and maybe even chat a little with Sidney, if he was free.
There was something about the weekend that had always made you happy, ever since you were a kid. In elementary school, you were able to spend entire Saturdays and Sundays outside with your neighbors, playing together until the sun would go down; in middle school, you used to take Saturdays to go out with your friends; while in high school, the weekend would be the only free time for awkward dates.
The weekends had taken a turn in college, where you’d get hammered on Friday nights, and spend the rest of your free days trying to recover from the hangover with your friends. They’d become messy, headache-filled, but still the best days of your life.
A knock on the opened door snapped you out of your nostalgic trance, making you sharply turn around to see Sidney standing by the threshold, a smile on his face. “Hey,”
“Hi, coach,” you smiled, his body embracing yours in a soft hug as he pressed a swift kiss to the top of your head. “What are you doing here?”
“Just came by to see you before I leave,” he mumbled, his face settling in the crook of your neck as he let his lips press a few kisses on your neck. You hummed, leaning into his touch as his hands inched closer to your hips, pulling you firm against his toned chest. There wasn’t room for words as he turned you around, his mouth finding yours hungrily as the two of you acted like teenagers again.
His lips were soft, but their movements were anything but gentle. You had to refrain yourself from letting out a whine - remembering you were still at your workplace and that people were still most certainly around - as your hands made their way in his hair, his arms picking you up and propping you on your desk.
“Come back to mine,” he whispered, breathing uneven as he pushed some strands of hair out of your face.
“What about Lily?” You asked, biting on your bottom lip as he leaned down to press a few other kisses on the side of your neck.
“She’s at her mother’s,” he grumbled, his lips finding yours again in another heated kiss as you smiled, arms wrapping around his neck as you enjoyed another moment with him. Your legs wrapped themselves around his waist, pulling him closer to you just as his hands started to undo the first few buttons of your blouse.
His head dipped to the newfound skin, your head lulling back as pleasure shot down to your core, your mind not thinking straight anymore. His mouth was on yours again after just a few minutes, his hands gentle on your lower back as he kept you close.
His phone was what snapped the two of you out of your trance, your bodies parting as he tugged the device out of his pocket, his brows furrowing when he saw who was calling. There was no hesitation when he accepted the call, his phone pressed to his ear immediately.
“Lily? What’s wrong?”
Your eyes met his worried ones at the mention of his daughter, waiting for any kind of information as he kept silent. “She hasn’t come to pick you up?!” He spoke, clearly angry. Your legs clenched at the sound of his pissed-off voice, but you forced yourself to put the heated making-out session behind you and focus on the moment. “Lily, practice ended an hour and a half ago,”
They exchanged a few other words before Sidney sighed a quick ‘I’m on my way’, pushing his phone back in his pocket as he helped you down the desk. “C’mon, let’s go,”
“You want me to come?” You hesitantly asked, knowing it probably wasn’t the best to intrude between him and Lily.
“Please,” he sighed under his breath, rubbing his forehead as you buttoned up your blouse again. “I’m so sorry, I ruined everything,”
“Hey, hey,” you were in front of him in a second, cupping his cheeks as your eyes met. “It’s no big deal. Let’s go get her now,”
He nodded his head, waiting for you to lock the office before the two of you were headed towards his car, speeding off through the streets of Pittsburgh in silence. Sidney seemed tense, gripping the steering wheel tightly as he stopped the car in front of the gym, where his daughter was standing. When she opened the backseat door, you heard the soft thud of her duffle bag hitting the car floor, soon followed by her silently sitting down.
“You should have called earlier, Elizabeth,” Sidney sighed after starting the car again, his voice slightly rising. “It’s cold outside, why did you even stay there waiting?”
“Can we not have this conversation in front of your girlfriend? Thanks,” Lily muttered, clearly annoyed at your presence. You repressed a sigh, the car filling with silence as you looked out of the window.
“Lily, it’s dark outside, God knows what could have happened to you!” Sidney yelled, carding a hand through his hair as he stopped at a red light, his emotions getting the best of him. “I need you to answer me. Why didn’t you call me?”
Elizabeth stayed in silence, arms folded over her chest as she looked straight ahead, eyes on the street. Silence set between the teenager and her father as he waited for an answer, his jaw clenching as he kept his eyes on the road, almost home. “Elizabeth?”
“I thought she was going to come and get me!” She yelled. “I wanted her to come and get me!”
Sidney had just parked inside their garage, and with her last words, she left the car. She shut the door angrily, leaving you and her father on your own inside the vehicle in silence. A sigh left his lips as he rubbed his face with the palms of his hands, clearly tired.
He hopped out of the car after a few minutes, helping you out of your seat as you silently made your way inside the Crosby household. Lily was nowhere to be seen, the living room was silent, and so was the kitchen. You guessed she was in her room, the place you had learned she loved the most.
Sidney didn’t talk much throughout the night, exchanging a few words with you just to order dinner and to ask you to stay the night. It was a no-brainer for you, with a whispered ‘yes’ you smiled his way, feeling reassured when he sent you a small smile back.
He seemed to be unreadable, no kind of emotion showing as he mumbled something about going to take a shower, his voice barely a mumble. Lily’s plate of food was sitting in front of you, her chair empty. It felt quite lonely to sit on your own at an empty table.
You grabbed her plate, walking towards the kitchen to heat it up as you let your thoughts crowd your mind, a long sigh leaving your lips. It was clear that with her words she wanted to express how much she wished for her mother to actually take care of her, to treat her like a daughter.
You dragged yourself up the stairs with her plate in one of your hands, your nerves yelling at you to go back downstairs. When you were faced with her door, you studied the banner with her name attached to it: it was a deep shade of purple, definitely a big contrast to the white wood of the door.
With your last ounce of courage of the night, you knocked on her door. “Lily? I brought you food,”
There was no answer from her, so you took it upon yourself to leave her plate on the floor, guessing she might have wanted to eat on her own. You headed towards the master bedroom soon after, closing the door behind yourself when you saw Sidney standing inside the ensuite, only clad in a pair of boxers.
You walked up to him, circling his waist with your arms as you let your cheek rest against his back. “I brought her food,” you whispered, pressing a kiss on his shoulder blade.
“Thank you,” Sidney sighed, letting one of his hands slip inside yours. “For everything,”
“Don’t worry about it,”
You stayed like that for a while, your body close to his as he got himself ready for bed, parting only when you decided to take a shower, too. When you climbed in bed next to him, he seemed to be snapped out of a trance, his arms embracing you in a hug.
“I can’t believe Evelyn didn’t pick her up,” Sid sighed, burying his face in your hair. “It was clear in court, she needs to take care of her daughter,”
“Why is she so distant with Lily?” You asked, voice as thin as a whisper as you traced the prints on his shirt with the pad of your index finger.
“I have no idea,” Sidney mumbled. “Ever since we got divorced it’s like she hates the kid that we’ve both created,”
He stayed in silence for a while, carding a hand through your hair as he wondered whether it was a good time to let you inside his life even more, to talk about his past and tell you one of the most important stories of his life. The story of his daughter.
“You know, we wanted her,” Sidney started after pushing all his internal worrying aside. “We had been married for a year, and we were ready for a baby. Evelyn fell pregnant after a few months of trying and we were more than happy to finally build a family.
“Lily was born a little earlier than expected, but she was healthy, and we were happy. I spent almost an entire year off, I was training but not going to games, while Evelyn worked from home, we were organized.
“By the time Lily started elementary school, I went back to playing hockey full-time but Evelyn wasn’t happy with it anymore, so she decided to get a divorce. I- I didn’t think she was feeling that way, I felt so shocked,” he mumbled, his arms tightening around your body. “We went to court, I was able to see Lily only during the weekends, and I could tell she wasn’t happy with her mom.
“I had teachers calling me, telling me nobody had picked her up, or that she had no lunch for the day. Lily even went as far as to say something about the entire situation to a friend, who later told her mom, who told the teacher that later enlightened me about the fact that my kid wasn’t being treated right by her own mother,” he sighed, your eyes veiled by a layer or tears at the heartbreaking story.
“So I dragged her to court and I was able to get custody of Lily on the weekdays. Truly the best day of my life after the day Lily was born,” Sidney spoke, his fingers drawing shapes on your smaller back as silence filled the room again.
“You’re a good father, Sid,” you whispered, letting your forehead rest against his. “Don’t ever think otherwise,”
He stayed in silence, carding a hand through his messy curls before settling your body on top of his, his hands oh so gentle on your skin. “It’s late, we should probably go to sleep,” he mumbled, leaning down to press a gentle kiss on your lips. You nodded your head, agreeing with him as you let your head rest against his chest, hearing the sound of his heartbeat. “Good night, sweetheart,”
“Good night,” you whispered, keeping your eyes open for a little longer when he turned off the lights. Sidney seemed scared: scared to not give a good enough life to his daughter, scared that Lily might not feel loved, scared that it could be his fault.
He didn’t deserve it, was what you thought before falling in a deep slumber, wishing he and Lily could feel better by the time dawn rolled around.
-----
“And where exactly do you think you’re going?”
Sidney’s voice snapped your eyes away from your laptop, making you face Lily standing in the middle of the entrance hall. She was wearing a yellow sundress, dark hair pulled up in a ponytail as she slipped on a pair of sneakers, ready to leave the house.
“What do you mean?” She called, facing her father with a confused look. “I have that date? With the brother of the little girl I tutor?”
“A what?!”
You gripped Sidney’s hand over the table when he slightly raised his voice, side-eyeing him as the teenager’s eyebrows furrowed. “A date,” she repeated. “Dad, I asked you last week if I could go, and you said yes,”
Sidney’s own eyebrows furrowed, making you notice all the similarities the two of them shared just then. Even if Sidney’s hair had silver streaks, Lily shared the same dark shade of curls; you could often see them using the same facial expressions, from the confused looks, to the way their noses would scrunch up any time something didn’t make sense to them. Lily was Sidney’s copy, and the best way to really notice it was during arguments, as bad as it sounded.
“Well, I probably wasn’t in my right mind, back then,” he spat out. “You can take your shoes off, you’re not leaving the house,”
“Dad!”
“Elizabeth, you’re too young to go on dates,” Sidney spoke, his palm leaving yours when he folded his arms over his chest. “I don’t even know who this guy is!”
“Dad, you literally know his parents,” Lily whined, carding a hand through her hair as she sighed out. “And we’re only going out for ice-cream,”
“I don’t care,” Sidney stated, stubbornly keeping eye contact with his daughter. “You’re not going out with him, and I won’t change my mind,”
“Sidney,” you scolded him, his eyes moving towards yours as he turned around to face you.
“What? Don’t you agree with me?” He asked, Lily’s distant footsteps making you realize she had gone to her room.
“She’s almost fifteen, Sid, and it’s just an ice-cream date,” you sighed, lifting your eyebrows slightly at his clenched jaw. “I went on my first date when I was her age, and it went just fine,”
Sidney kept silent after your confession, staring straight ahead of himself as you looked at him, waiting for any kind of reaction. Lily had seemed to be hurt by his words, especially since she looked more than happy to go on her first-ever date, and you at least wanted him to realize that.
“Sid?”
“Fine,” he grumbled, sighing heavily as bit the insides of his cheek. “She can go, but only if we tag along,”
You jokingly rolled your eyes at his rule, standing up from your chair to press a swift kiss to his cheek. “I’ll go talk to her,” you whispered, ignoring the way your heartbeat had just picked up at the thought of having an actual conversation with Lily again.
By the time you reached her bedroom door, you were more than nervous. Your hand was shaking as you knocked on the door, waiting for any kind of response from her. “Lily?”
“Y/N, go away. This is not the right moment,” you heard her say, voice strained and distant.
“Lily, I need to talk to you,” you gently said, playing with your fingers. “Can I come in?”
There wasn’t a proper verbal answer, but the door snapped open after a few seconds of shuffling, and you quietly entered the dimly lit room. It felt strange to walk into her personal world, her room representing her in some kind of way.
A large bookcase filled with novels caught your attention from the start, a smile forming on your lips when you noticed the fairy lights that gave the room its quite cozy vibe. Lily was laying on her bed, face buried in her pillow as she stayed in silence, only sniffles coming from her.
“Lily-”
“I just don’t get it,” she sniffled, sitting up as she wiped a few tears from her cheeks. “I asked him, and he was okay with it,”
You felt shocked at how open she was, considering just how much she didn’t want anything to do with you, but sat down next to her. “What was he doing when you asked him?”
“He was on the phone,” she admitted after a beat, playing with her hands in her lap when you sighed, knowing that Sidney was never as concentrated as he usually was when he was on the phone with someone. “But I thought he had put the other person on hold, and that he was listening to me,”
“I know how you feel, Lily,” you admitted, smiling softly at her as you stood up and reached for her mascara sitting on her desk. “When I was your age, my dad was really protective of me, too,”
“He was a little pissed off when I asked him if I could go on a date,” you mumbled, lifting her chin up gently as you opened the small bottle. “But my mom made him change my mind, and I was able to go play bowling with the weird kid that sat behind me in Spanish class,”
Lily suppressed a giggle. “And how did it go?”
“It was really awkward. Never went on another date with him, after that,” you laughed, applying a light layer of makeup on her lashes carefully as she looked up at you. “And you’re ready to go,”
“What do you mean?”
“C’mon get up,” you smiled, holding out a hand to her as you stood up from your spot on the bed. “Your dad is allowing you to go,”
“What?!” The smile on her face was priceless when she processed your words. “Really?”
“At only one condition,” you lifted up a finger, jokingly mocking Sidney’s voice. “You can go, but only if we tag along,”
Lily giggled, nodding her head as she slipped her shoes back on, a smile on her lips as she did so. You were about to leave the room in silence to get ready yourself, but Elizabeth’s voice stopped you.
“Y/N?” She called for you, voice hesitant. Your eyes met, a frown forming on her lips as she tied her shoes. “I’m sorry, for everything,”
“It’s fine, Lily,” you whispered, sending her a reassuring smile.
“It’s not,” was all she said as she stood up. “I wasn’t ready to see my dad with someone else, and you came in, and you’re so perfect, and I don’t know why I acted that way,”
You wrapped your arms around her at her confession, her body reciprocating the hug in just a few seconds as comfortable silence filled the room. You had to hold back a tear as you pulled back, smiling down at her. “We’re fine, Lily,” you whispered. “Now, it’s better if we get going. Don’t wanna be late, do we?”
She smiled up at you, shaking her head before looking back inside her room, mumbling something about having to find her purse. As you made your way down the staircase, the sight of Sidney standing by the front door with a beaten-up look met your eyes, making you chuckle. “Is she okay?” Was all he asked, his hand finding yours when you stepped in front of him.
“More than okay, now that she gets to go on her date,” you whispered, leaning up to press a quick kiss to his lips.
“Are we ready?” Lily yelled from the stairs, a happy smile on her lips as she made her way down in a rush, throwing herself in her father’s arms quickly before opening the door.
“We are,” Sidney spoke, smiling at her silent way of thanking him as he followed her outside, dragging you along by the hand. The drive was filled with soft music from the radio and excited giggles coming from Lily, and by the time you reached the parlor, the teenager was more than ready to throw herself out of the car.
Sidney was about to follow her - probably to have some words with the guy - but you stopped him, a hand on his bicep as you made eye contact. He sighed, understanding what you meant with just a look of your eyes, sitting back in the driver’s seat.
“Have fun, Lily!” You cheered, sending her a smile as she shut her door, waving towards the two of you as she walked away.
The smile on your face didn’t leave as you took a look at Sidney, who was focusing on the rearview mirror a little too much, trying to see Lily and her date and what was happening.
“Oh, Sidney,” you laughed, slipping your hand in his to give his palm a squeeze. “Let them at least grab ice-cream, before you judge the guy,”
“Hey! I’m not judging anyone!” He scoffed, smiling your way when he saw the look of fondness on your face, your hands cupping his cheeks before you leaned in for a kiss.
“Sure, mister serious,”
-----
The sound of the Penguins’ game playing on Sidney’s TV was filling the living room quite loudly, your eyes following the movements on the screen as you mindlessly stuffed your mouth with popcorn.
It was a Thursday night that would have been perfect, if Sidney was home. He had been in Vancouver for two weeks, instead, so far away from you it almost hurt. You had grown so accustomed to his presence around the mansion, after moving in with him and Lily, that it physically hurt to see him leave, even if it was just for a few days.
The house always felt quite empty when it was missing his laughter, or his music that Lily couldn’t stand, or even his booming voice when he heatedly spoke on the phone. In some way, every single part of you was missing him. Sitting in front of the TV on your own often made you realize that: just how lost you felt without him, without his presence, or his support.
On the other hand, Lily was the ray of sunshine that made your days just a little better, when he wasn’t around. Maybe it was the bubbly personality that she had slowly shown you, or maybe the inside jokes you had grown to share.
Lily had opened up to you after the ice-cream date - and even when you had thought things between you and her still felt quite tense, the smile on her face when Sidney had told her you were going to move in was enough to make you think otherwise.
Sidney appeared on the screen for a quick second, but the sound of the front door snapping shut was what brought you out of your thoughts, a smile on your face when you realized Lily had finally come home.
“Hey, Lily!” You got no response from her, only hearing her shoes hitting the floor before she made her way towards the living room. “How was tutoring?”
“Good, until James decided to be a dick,” she sighed, flopping on the couch with her eyebrows furrowed.
“James as in your-almost-boyfriend? The one from the date?” You asked in shock, pushing popcorn in your mouth when Lily nodded her head. “No way,”
“I was doing maths with his little sister, and he had the great idea to interrupt us by coming in with his friends,” Lily started to explain, clearly pissed off at her peer. “They were screaming and it was so hard to hear the little girl talk,”
You shook your head in annoyance, handing her the bowl of popcorns as you focused for a second on the TV, checking the score. The Penguins were winning, but the Canucks weren’t ready to surrender.
“Eventually, they calmed down and went to the living room,” Lily continued. “But I heard them talk about some bet, and it didn’t take a while for it to click in my brain,”
“A bet?!”
“A bet, that’s all the date was!” she repeated, nodding her head at your shocked face as she let her arms fold over her chest. “I confronted him about it and he even tried to play nice and act as if he had been forced to do it!”
“No way,” you whispered, jaw slack as you watched her for any kind of reaction. “I’m so sorry, L,”
“It’s fine,” she huffed, stealing a handful of popcorns as she gave her phone a quick look. “It’s not like he was the best almost-boyfriend anyway,”
You giggled, pulling her closer as the two of you silently watched the game, your heart skipping a beat every time they showed a concentrated version of Sidney - hair perfectly styled and suit neatly ironed.
He seemed tense, eyebrows furrowed as he shared a few words with the team, or watched his players skate around the rink. His concentrated look was something you had fallen for, painting his face so many times on a daily basis you sometimes got worried his muscles got stuck.
Sidney Crosby was fascinating, to say the least.
“Don’t tell dad, though,” Lily whispered from your side, still thinking about what had happened with James. “He already didn’t want me to go on the date with him, if he had to know about this, he’d probably kill James,”
“I won’t, don’t worry,” you whispered back, carding a hand through her hair just as the Canucks scored, making the both of you groan out in unison.
“Oh no,” Lily sighed, giggling soon after. “He’s gonna talk about this goal for the next week, I’m so sure,”
“He is,” you agreed, holding back a chuckle as you stood up from the couch, heading towards the kitchen to grab more snacks for the two of you. “Ready for girls’ night?”
“We’re having girls’ night?” Lily asked, a smile on her face as she looked at you.
“It’s always girls’ night, when your dad’s not home,” you winked, coming back with enough chips and candy to keep you full for an entire weekend. She giggled at your words, shaking her head before heading upstairs to get changed.
As you got settled while waiting for her, you hoped to stay awake just enough to be able to see Sidney. He was supposed to be home early the next morning, and you were willing to stay up the entire night on your own if it meant you’d get to hug him as soon as he’d be back.
When Elizabeth came back down the stairs in her pajamas, she said the words that in some way, reminded you of Sidney. They left his mouth just so often, and you had connected the phrase to him.
“Are we ready?”
You smiled up at the teen, nodding your head as she sat down next to you, draping a blanket over her legs. “Ready,”
-
The sound of Lily’s bedroom door opening woke you up from your deep slumber, your eyes struggling to adapt to the still dark room as Sidney’s frame sat on the bed next to your half-asleep body.
Lily was still lightly snoring by your side, one of her arms holding the bag of chips she had been nursing before falling asleep, the other draped over your stomach. “Hi, baby,” Sidney whispered, carding a hand through your hair as you snuggled your head closer to his thigh.
“Hi,” you whispered back, breathing in his scent as you relished in his closeness. “I missed you,”
“I missed you two more,” he said, bending down to press a quick peck to the top of your head, soon moving towards Lily’s. He stayed in silence for a few moments, your sleepy eyes holding his as you relaxed. He was finally home.
“Let’s get you to bed, sweetheart,” he whispered after a beat, lifting you up in his arms effortlessly just as your eyes started to droop again. With your head against his chest, you sighed in content, letting one of your hands touch his warm skin as if to make sure he wasn’t just a dream.
By the time you were carefully let down onto the expensive - and way too soft - comforter, your eyes were still staring up at his. The covers were pulled over your body by Sidney, giving you just enough time to read the digits on the clock standing on his bedside table.
It was well past three in the morning, the moon still shining in the darkness of the night as you tried to keep yourself awake to enjoy a moment with the love of your life after the two weeks spent apart. He had turned his back to you, his opened button-up sitting on his shoulders as he took his wristwatch off, the sight leaving you speechless.
“You should close your eyes, my love,” he spoke, a gentle smile on his lips as he looked at your mirror reflection. “It’s late,”
“I need you close,” was all you whispered, biting on your lip when he finally undressed, joining your body underneath the warmth of the duvet. He pulled you in closer, his lips meeting yours in a gentle kiss as you tried to keep a few happy tears at bay, way too tired to contain your emotions.
“Sid,” you whispered as soon as you pulled away, catching his attention as he pressed a swift peck to your forehead. “I love you, so much,”
He smiled at you, biting on his lip as his hands rubbed your smaller back. “I love you more, Y/N,”
“I- I feel so empty when you leave,” you admitted, your fingers drawing shapes on his chest as you revealed the feelings you had been developing for months. “You’ve become the best part of me, and I don’t think I could ever be able to live a life without you,”
Sidney was silent as you talked, carding a hand through your hair as he listened to you, trying to impress your words in his mind. “I don’t want to spend my life with anybody else but you and Lily. Fuck, I don’t even know where I would be, if we hadn’t crossed paths.
“I know that maybe it’s too soon, and that it might not be the right time, but I just felt like telling you. You’re the one that I want, for the rest of my life, even when I’m old and ugly,”
Sidney suppressed a chuckle at your words, leaning his forehead against yours as you stopped for a second. “I don’t think you could ever become ugly, darling,” he admitted, his nose touching yours as you giggled softly.
“That’s not my point,” you jokingly slapped his chest, your eyes meeting his again as you formulated your next phrase in your head. “I’ll be waiting for you, Sid. I’ll be here when you’ll be ready,”
He stared at you with a smile as you finished your monologue, his heart beating so fast against your palm it almost got you scared. After splitting with Evelyn, he never thought he’d be ready. He hadn’t been ready to leave the house, the first few days after the divorce. He hadn’t been ready to love someone as much as he had loved Evelyn, until you came along.
It felt like old Sidney came back, when you became part of his life. He was happy, genuinely ready to love again, and you were the angel that made it happen, the reason why he felt ready, after all that time.
“I’m ready,” was everything he said, eyes staring deep into yours as he let his forehead touch yours, his words making your heart leap out of your chest. “I’m ready,”

every year around this time I think really hard about my future. what I'm gonna do, how im gonna get my shit together and go about life. I think about how i'm gonna get through all my addictions, not gain any new ones, and make sure im close to those I love.
I want to move back to my hometown, go to school to get a degree, live with my best friends and visit my family as often as possible. I want to work at a school, have summers off to write my books and travel across the country to see my parents for a week every year.
i want to live in a house bustling with my friends that we all pitch in to keep paid for. We would move around the living room to dance or do yoga or something on the weekends, we would have movie nights and dinner parties and whenever I'm sad I would have a friend to hold me.
I don't think I would be able to be sad in a house like that. I want to live someplace where love grows in abundance and everyone holds hands and hugs and kisses and doesn't think physical touch and love is something to be rationed. of course the house would be pretty nuerodiverse with my friends and me and that would be part of the beauty, I think. My rigid schedule about when food needs to be eaten would help my friend who never remembers to eat. We would all help each other with our problems and know how to fit together.
sorry for romanticizing, it is nearly midnight and if i dont think of the best possible future than I worry about the worst 😅
The alternative to this is: I cant get a degree, I dont teach, i either get a 9-5 that regularly overstimulates me or I decide to write books on principal and starve. I have been told my writing is best-seller material but. a lot of talented writers don't make it to success. And i can hardly finish a novel--I've only finished three works and all of them look like trash to me. One I've wiped from existence, one sits unpublished in wattpad drafts because its THAT BAD, and the third... well i actually quite like that one but I have to do a second draft, have someone edit, and only then can I attempt publication--and i worry i wont stick with it now that the first draft has been completed for months and I haven't even annotated it to see what needs fixing.

Masterlist
Once upon a time, Maxwell Lord had these big, extravagant parties to celebrate his birthday. He’d host at fancy venues and it would be formal, strictly black-tie, and only the elite were invited. But the truth was, he was incredibly lonely. He had no friends, only colleagues and business associates. His wife would hang on his arm, wearing real fur, and Chanel couture earrings, parading around the room, flirting with other businessmen who might’ve been more successful than Max.
He didn’t like his birthday. Growing up, he didn’t celebrate much either. The Lorenzano family could barely afford to buy Maxwell new shoes or clothes that fit, so expecting gifts and parties was the last thing on his mind. Every year though, without fail, his mother would cook him a small cake and light a candle. “Make a wish, Maxwell.” she’d whisper. It was funny how things turned out.
And when he married for the first time, it was his wife who insisted on these big, luxurious celebrations with balloons and music. The attention was nice, sure, but it always felt like it was more for her than it was for him. He’d never say anything though. Just smile and nod. As long as she was happy. She sure seemed happy when Maxwell caught his wife with her tongue down another man’s throat at his 32nd birthday party. Thankfully, that marriage soon ended, and whilst Maxwell swelled with heartache for a good few months, better things were soon to come.
Like meeting you.
About a week before Maxwell’s birthday, Alistair was... hyper, to say the least. It was way past his bedtime, and yet he was bouncing up and down on yours and Max’s bed, clearly trying to get his father to leave the room.
“Daddy, could you go make me some french fries?”
Maxwell peeked up from his newspaper and furrowed his eyebrows together. His son’s question even ruffled you slightly, as you looked up from painting your nails and tilted your head slightly.
“Alistair, it’s eleven at night. No french fries.” Maxwell sighed before looking back down at his newspaper.
Alistair hummed, looking around the bedroom.
“Daddy, did you remember to feed Lady her evening biscuits?”
Maxwell looked up from his paper again, and stared at his son.
“I fed her this evening,” You said, trying to work out what kind of mischief Alistair was getting up to now. “Ali, is everything okay?”
“Of course, why wouldn’t it be?” The six year old replied, and well, it was a fair response. You and Maxwell exchanged a glance before getting back to your business. About ten seconds passed.
“Daddy, can you make me some warm milk?”
Maxwell sighed, this time dropping his newspaper completely and rubbing his tired eyes. “You don’t need warm milk Alistair.”
“But I’ll struggle to sleep without it.”
“I’ll go get you some,” you told the child, but Alistair quickly extended his arm, stopping you before you could get out of bed.
“No mommy, you’re sick. Besides, I asked daddy.”
You blinked, taken slightly aback. Alistair was a sweet child with wonderful manners, that much you knew, but even his decorum right now took you by surprise. He was speaking like a fully grown gentleman. Processing his words, you simply shrugged your shoulders before shuffling back into bed and getting comfortable.
Yeah, you’d been throwing up the past few days, in the mornings mostly, but you’d drawn it down to food poisoning. It was sweet how Alistair was seemingly looking out for your health. Maxwell’s gaze flicked between you both but, in defeat, he got out of bed and padded downstairs, into the kitchen to prepare his son’s bedtime beverage. Once he was gone, and you could hear him begin to steam the milk, you snapped your fingers to get Alistiar’s attention.
“Alright Ali,” you sighed, folding your arms across your chest. “What’s going on? Why have you been trying to get your dad to leave the room for the past...” you checked the time on the alarm clock which was positioned on Max’s nightstand. “Half an hour.” Gods he was persistent. Just like his father.
“We need to do something special for daddy’s birthday.” Alistair announced, and as he uttered the words, you already knew that there was no room for questioning him. He and his father were similar in that sense too.
“What do you have in mind?” you wondered out loud. You knew Maxwell’s birthday was approaching, despite your husband never talking about it. You hadn’t even thought of what to get him yet, which was a problem.
“A party. But not like the ones daddy has for work,” Alistair explained, referring to the many galas Maxwell had hosted in attempt to gain sponsorship and investments for his company. “Like, a small tea party. Just us. All his favourite snacks and the birthday cake granny used to make him when he was a kid. I know it’s his favourite. And balloons and banners and streamers. I can draw a picture. And music. And—“
“Okay okay baby slow down, I see where you’re coming from,” you smiled, pulling Alistair into your lap. “And I like the idea. Do you know if your dad has ever had a small party like this before?”
“I don’t think so.” Alistair replied softly and you nodded in understanding.
“Well, we’ll have to make sure it’s perfect. We can start planning tomorrow morning when he goes to work, okay? But keep your mouth zipped tight Ali, it has to be a surprise.”
———
The day of Maxwell’s birthday started like any other. He left for work at 7:30, his driver waiting for him outside. He graced you with a quick peck on the cheek and told you he couldn’t wait to see you tonight. Now, Maxwell hadn’t uttered one word about his birthday in the past week, but even today, he hadn’t mentioned it. You’d planned on giving him his present this morning when he woke up, but your nerves got the better of you.
You’d waited to give him this gift for a week already, you could at least wait a few more hours until he got home from work.
At 9am, your best friend arrived with an abundance of helium balloons, birthday banners and streamers. At 9:30am, you tried to help Alistair pick out a smart outfit, although he was begging to wear one of his new Star Wars Ewok costumes.
“How can you eat all the cake if you’re dressed as a massive teddy bear?” you asked the boy. He sighed, knowing that you had a point.
Alistair looked adorable in his button down shirt and pants. You even fished in Maxwell’s closet to find a bow tie, hoping it would complete the look.
“I look like dad.” Alistair mumbled, fiddling with the wonky tie that you’d haphazardly wrapped around his neck.
“Exactly. You look wonderful.” you grinned, enveloping him into a massive hug.
At 12, you figured it was the best time to begin baking the cake. But to do that, you needed the recipe. When you called Ms Lorenzano, your heart blossomed upon hearing the excitement in her voice.
“Oh darling! Hello! It’s so lovely to hear from you.” she spoke into the phone, and you could just imagine her smile on the other end of the line. It was identical to Maxwell’s.
“Hello Ms Lorenzano,” you greeted, nervously curling the telephone wire around your finger. “How’ve you been?”
“I was just packing away my groceries. I got the bouquet of flowers you and Maxwell sent me yesterday. They look beautiful on my dining room table. Thank you, darling. They really lighten up the room. How is my son? Is he there?” Ms Lorenzano quizzed.
“Max is great, actually. He’s working at the moment but we were thinking about flying out to see you this weekend. If you weren’t busy? Alistair misses you very much.”
“Oh that would be wonderful! I’ve missed my little cherub so much. Let me guess, a big party planned tonight for my Maxwell’s birthday?” She beamed.
“Not quite. It was Ali’s idea to plan something small - a tea party of sorts. He was telling me about this vanilla frosting birthday cake you used to bake when Max was younger? And I was hoping you’d share the recipe with me. I’d love to try and recreate it… although my baking skills are nowhere near as good as yours.” you giggled.
“That recipe has been passed down our family for generations,” Ms Lorenzano explained and you felt your heart sink into your chest. By neither law nor blood, you weren’t family. Would she really not give you the recipe? You’d been dating Maxwell for years now. And Ms Lorenzano did always say you were like a daughter to her… “Of course you can have it.” she smiled and you felt a wave of relief wash over you as she began to list the ingredients.
“Thank you Ms Lorenzano, it was so lovely to speak to you. Max is gonna give you a call tonight. Take care, okay?”
“Okay darling. I send my love. Give Alistair a kiss from his ol’ granny. I will see you Saturday.”
Now, the smart thing would’ve been to call over the house chef and have her prepare the birthday cake. At least then, it would be void of any errors. But this was strictly a Lorenzano family recipe and the last thing you wanted to do was to disrespect Ms Lorenzano and immediately give it to the house chef. So, you figured you’d give it your best go. At least then it would be sentimental.
Maxwell was a fussy eater, only eating the most delicious and well presented foods. You weren’t sure if he’d even step a foot near this cake. As you stirred together the ingredients, something wasn’t right. It was lumpy and bubbling and -- no matter what, you just couldn’t seem to fix it. You called Alistair in, who had been colouring in a family portrait he’d drawn, to take a look, but of course, he didn’t know any better.
When the cake came out the oven, it was lop-sided and slightly burned. You figured it would be okay if you just covered it in the vanilla frosting and placed the sliced strawberries intricately on the top. But no. Luck wasn’t on your side today. The strawberries slipped off and the icing was uneven. At least you managed to put the cake on one of the fancy ‘special occasion’ plates. You could just tell Maxwell that it was made with love.
Ali helped you decorate downstairs, which proved to be a challenge. The rooms in Lord manor were extensively sized and tall, but you did your best.
“Ali, I’m going to quickly get changed okay? Would you do me a favour and bring down your dad’s presents from upstairs? You could place them on the dining room table.”
Alistair nodded obediently and did as he was told. You went up to yours and Maxwell’s shared closet and looked around, trying to decide on what exactly you should wear. You opted on a beautiful, fitted champagne coloured dress that glittered in the artificial lighting. It was one of your favourite gowns and you had worn it last summer at one of Black Gold Cooperative’s charity fundraising events. You knew how much Maxwell loved it too. If Alistair was dressed in his father’s bow-tie, and Maxwell always looked presentable, there was no reason you couldn’t make an effort to look good too. Besides, you didn’t know how long you’d have left before you wouldn’t be able to fit into these dresses anymore.
You didn’t have long before Maxwell was due to finish work. You quickly style your hair and adjust your makeup, before padding downstairs and into the dining room. Just like you had requested, all of Maxwell’s presents were neatly piled on top of the table, courtesy of Alistair.
“He’ll be home any second Ali,” you said, handing Alistair a party popper and adjusting the cone shaped party hat on his head. Alistair was absolutely beaming, his big brown eyes twinkling like starlight as he anticipated his father coming home from work. “Are you ready?”
“Yes.” Alistair grinned.
“Okay. Good. Let’s go find a place to hide.”
Ducking down behind the stack of gifts, you waited for about five minutes in silence, until you heard the front door unlock. Alistair squeaked excitedly, hearing his dad come home and you bit your lip, quietly shushing him but unable to contain your own smile.
Maxwell was surprised when he came home. He wasn’t greeted like he expected to be. Normally, every evening after his shift, you and Ali would run into his arms and envelope him into a hug. The lack of running and hugs concerned Maxwell. The house was dead quiet, and he even found himself wondering if either of you were home.
When he padded into the dining room and switched on the light, you and Ali jumped out and screamed in unison; “Happy birthday!”
Maxwell froze, his jaw dropping open and his eyes going comically wide. He was presented with an abundance of gifts, a decorated dining room, his son and girlfriend all dressed up, and a questionable looking cake with a wax candle stuck in the top. You and Alistair ran into Maxwell’s arms and hugged him tight.
“Daddy! Daddy! It’s your birthday! Look! We planned a surprise tea party all by ourselves!” Alistar squealed, tugging on his father’s arm.
“I- I- wow!” Maxwell gasped, genuinely speechless. You bit your lip and swayed your hips as you lovingly gazed into his brown eyes. You didn’t know what it was, maybe the fact the whole day was leading up to this moment, or perhaps just an imbalance with your hormones, but you had missed him so much. Just seeing him again made you want to weep in his strong arms. You loved him so much.
“Happy birthday.” you whispered, raising your hand to cup his face. He nudged his nose against yours and you kissed him sweetly.
“You did all of this for me?” He asked after reluctantly pulling away, still in genuine shock.
“It was Ali’s idea.” you replied, letting your body lean against his. You rest your head into his chest so much so that you could hear the rhythm of his heartbeat.
“You look… breathtaking, darling.” Maxwell hummed, his hand resting on the small of your back.
“Come sit down,” you said, taking his hand and guiding him over to the dining room table. “You have all these presents, and we have cake and music…”
“The cake…” Maxwell pointed and quirking an eyebrow. “Is that… it can’t be…”
“It is, I called your mom for the recipe.” You confirmed with a nervous smile.
“I-- don’t believe it. I haven’t had this cake since--”
“I know. Again it was Ali’s idea,” you informed him. Alistair looked bashfully proud as he anticipated the cake cutting. “I know it doesn’t look the best…”
“Are you kidding?” Maxwell asked, cutting you off. “This is the most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me.”
“Would you like to try some?”
“Would I like to try some?” Maxwell repeated incredulously. “Of course!”
You lit the candle and held hands with Alistair and Max as the two of you sang happy birthday. As Maxwell blew out the candle, you told him to make a wish.
“I don’t need to wish for anything. I already have everything I could ever want. Right here.”
Maxwell got a variety of miscellaneous gifts for his birthday. A porcelain statue of a dog, a small desk flag with his company logo on it, a basket filled with biotin supplements, and of course the artwork that Alistair had created earlier in the day. It was a beautiful crayon illustration of you, Max, Ali, and of course your cat, Lady Lord. Maxwell promised to frame it and put it on his desk at work. Little did he realise though, the best gift was yet to come.
Once Alistair was tucked into bed, you and Maxwell decided to settle down and have an early night. All the eating and dancing had exhausted you both.
“Thank you for today,” Maxwell mumbled, pulling the zipper down your dress. His warm breath fanned over the shell of your ear and you immediately felt butterflies in your stomach. “Why don’t we go to bed, hm?” he asked, peppering kisses down your neck and along your shoulders.
You knew what he was hinting at, and you wanted it too. Of course you wanted it too. But there was something you had to deal with first. You were so nervous but you knew it was now or never.
“I didn’t give you your birthday present.” you announced, turning around to look your boyfriend in the eye.
“Wh-- what do you mean? You didn’t need to get me anything. This was enough. You-- you, my love, are enough.”
You smiled, rubbing his bicep and finding yourself once again getting lost in his eyes. You took a deep breath and pulled him into the en-suite bathroom. Although confused, Max didn’t say a word, and instead, he watched you in silence as you unlocked the drawer under the sink. It was where you usually kept your cosmetics, but Max’s gift had been waiting in there for the past week, wrapped up in tissue. You took it out and handed him it.
You anxiously watched as he unravelled the tissue, only to be presented with a positive pregnancy test. Your positive pregnancy test. His eyebrows knotted together and you watched his Adam's apple bop in his throat as he swallowed. But then, only seconds later, his face softened and his eyes became glazed with unshed tears. “You’re… we’re…”
“We’re pregnant, Max.” you confessed, confirming his thoughts.
Maxwell choked up and wrapped his strong arms tight around you, squeezing you hard. “Oh my God, we’re really pregnant?”
“Mhm.” you giggled, as Maxwell pulled away and cupped your cheeks with his hand. He kissed you passionately and when he pulled away, his grin was ecstatic.
“How long have you known?” He quizzed.
“A week.” you admitted.
“A week?!”
You swatted his arm playfully and shushed him.
“I wanted it to be a surprise. We have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, to confirm it and everything. But with the sickness and… I can feel it, you know?” You took his hand and placed it against your stomach. “I can really feel it.”
“I love you so much,” Maxwell smiled. “I love you so, so much.”
“Happy birthday my dear.” you replied, guiding him back over to the bed. “I love you too.”

Fly Away
Episode 2: The Collector
Ao3 - First
(Féline Sombre & Paon Lilas designs)
Summery: An AU where Adrien never went to in-person school, not getting the cat miraculous, and found the peacock miraculous. -Gabriel Agreste sets out his plan to protect his identity as Hawkmoth. (and try to get some miraculous)
(this is like... twice as long as the first one...whoops)
Adrien felt like a ragdoll. Chloé squeezed him around his shoulders and shook him; squealing the entire time. He just went limp. Resigned to being dragged around from the doorway.
“Hi Chloé. Hi... Sabrina? Er…" Adrien stared at the comically tall stack of luggage, only identifiable as Sabrina by their favored shorts over tights style on the legs behind the luggage. "Is this… a sleepover?” His father barely let them over anymore, how did Chloé convince his father to let them stay overnight?
“Hi,” Sabrina said, muffled from under the piles of luggage.
“It is Adrikins! Your father finally stopped being a stick in the mud for once! I have sooo much for us to do. It simply can not be all done in a measly hour. Sabrina, the guest room is over there, we’ll be sleeping there.” Chloé pointed, and Sabrina grunted in effort before they made their way towards the room.
“Do you need help, Sabrina?” Adrien asked, watching her fumble with the tower of luggage.
“Oh she’s fine, aren’t you Sabrina?”
“Uhhh, yep! Just fine!” They kicked open the door before Adrien could escape Chloé’s hug to help. She stumbled, and the luggage fell into the room. Sabrina rebalanced themself with the skill of a gymnast, avoiding the fate of the luggage. They looked at the mess and sighed, shoulders sagging.
“See? Now!” Chloé grabbed Adrien’s arm and pulled him towards his own room, “I need to tell you everything about this new hero I met!”
“Oh. Okay?” Chloé had been most of his first-hand information on the superheroes of Paris. Obviously he’d seen the newscasts, and, despite Chloé’s insistence that the “Ladyblog” was unreliable, he followed that too. But Chloé was who he got the details from. He’s been reconsidering some of the stories from Chloé’s hand in causing the last akuma.
While listening to Chloé embellish her own role in a story he was in, Sabrina eventually returned. She smiled and sat, listening to the last of Chloé’s tale. “After the fight I did get a good look at Paon Lilas. He was kinda cute. Not as cute as you, though, my Adrikins!”
Adrien chuckled and shook his head. “I’m sure he’d look just as cute with a team of people doing his makeup, hair, and wardrobe for him.”
“Shh, you’re not giving yourself enough credit.” She rolled her eyes, waving a hand dismissively.
"Well, I don't know about him..." Sabrina said cautiously, "When I came in at the end there... Ladybug seemed pretty suspicious of him. Maybe there's something we don't know?"
"He did seem sorta new, but he gave me a real Mr Cuddles! No strings attached like with Hawkmoth. Really, he can't be that bad."
Adrien nodded, "I'm sure he did what he thought was right…"
Sabrina hummed, "Probably..."
Chloé shook her head and waved a hand "Anyway, Sabrina show Adrien our surprise!"
"Oh! I'll go get it!" They stood up and raced off to collect whatever it was.
-
Sabrina stared up at the stack of suitcases and sighed "This… may take longer than intended."
Plagg zipped out of her purse and propped himself on top of one. "Ugh why go through the effort? Just tell her you broke it when you tripped."
"Chloé is my best friend Plagg, and Adrien is a good friend too. He's been pretty upset since he couldn't go to school. Least I can do is find the gift."
"Blegh, what kid wants to go to school. If I lived in this fancy place I'd be eating camembert all day long!"
Sabrina chuckled and shook her head "You do that anyway. Come on you lazy kitty, at least help me look." They hefted the first suitcase and started carefully looking through it.
Plagg groaned. Then dramatically huffed. Then sighed twice as dramatically and zipped away to find something more interesting. Like cheese, perhaps.
Sabrina looked up and frowned at the lack of kwami. "Plagg!" She whisper-yelled. Abandoning their task, they ran after their kwami.
"Oooo, what's this?" Plagg disappeared into a room, and Sabrina followed. He glanced around the room then shrugged, "Boring, next?"
"What's that?" She gestured at the ajar painting. A… door? She stepped over to find a safe.
Plagg hummed. "Okay, interest spiked. Let's see what they're hiding in there."
"Oh I don't think we should. We should get back to finding Adrien's gift-"
Plagg already disappeared into the safe. The door opened and Plagg riffled through the contents, muttering about what was there. Sabrina tilted their head, and Plagg handed her a book. "Pretty mundane if you ask me. I was hoping for a secret food stash, maybe the World's Finest Camembert."
Sabrina shook her head and flipped through a few of the pages. "Miraculous? Why do the Agrestes have this in a safe?" They glanced at the portrait. "Behind a painting…"
"Sabrinaaaaaaa what's taking so long? And fetch my nail kit! My nail chipped!" Chloé called.
"I'll go down and help her-" Adrien responded. Sabrina gasped and closed the safe, and ran back to the guest room…. And they still had the book! Ohnoohno. She scrambled for a place to put it before shoving it under a pile of clothes in Chloé’s suitcase.
Adrien walked in with Chloé trailing behind. "Adrikins it's a surprise, don't you know the meaning of surprise?"
He chuckled "I do but Sabrina, don't you want some help?"
They stared a bit at him, "It might be nice? There's… a lot of suitcases here…"
Adrien gave Chloé a 'See?' look, and picked up a suitcase to look through. "What am I looking for?"
"It's a surpriseeeee," Chloé huffed.
Adrien smirked, and picked up a shirt, showing it to Chloé "This it?" He picked up a lipstick "This it? Oh what about this?" He picked up a set of earrings, placing them against his ears. Sabrina giggled as he continued, shaking her head.
Chloé groaned and sat on the edge of the bed, looking at her nails with a pout. Sabrina quietly handed her a nail kit from their own purse, earning a smile.
Adrien found it. He pulled out the DVD and tilted his head "What's this?"
"I uh, convinced the class to do a virtual hello- since you couldn't- uh, I also have something else if you don't like it."
His eyes got shiny, and he rubbed his cheeks, smiling, "Thank you. Really." He pulled Chloé and Sabrina into a hug.
Chloé looked a little startled. She likely was used to having to start the hugs, but softened into the hug.
He pulled back with an awkward giggle, "Sorry, uh, I'll watch this later. Really, thank you."
"Yeah, no trouble at all. Apparently one of the kids is like, all about film making. He kinda took over, actually."
Adrien giggled and nodded, "Well, I'm sure you have other plans too-"
Chloé fluffed her hair, "But of course! I have the whole day planned!"
Adrien gave Sabrina a look, clearly looking for comradery in the exhaustion of Chloé’s day-long itinerary. She smiled and shook her head, ready to help Chloé make her plans reality.
-
Chloé had the book. Sabrina stared at it. Why did Chloé have the book? Chloé did not waste a minute to dramatically show off the book.
"Can you believe there's tons of other superheroes that aren't active?" Chloé called, almost immediately summoning the class to surround her and the book.
Sabrina was going to die of mortification. How were they going to get that back to the Agreste house? Chloé wasn't going to just let her put it back now that it was her newest attention magnet.
Marinette wasn't late for once. Although, she did feel late. She hopped up and down trying to get a look at what was at the center of the small crowd.
"Is there a horse superhero?"
"I wonder if Ladybug and Féline Sombre have powers we don't know about."
"Do you know what language that is?"
Tiki gasped. Marinette’s eyes widened as Tiki weaved in and out of the group of teens’ legs.
Marinette stared anxiously. Tiki returned quickly. “We need to get that book, Marinette!”
“What?” Marinette cried, but thankfully the only weird look she got was from Ms. Bustier.
Ms. Bustier clapped and the group dispersed disjointedly. “Alright class, that’s enough. We do have more to learn about than superheroes.”
Marinette anxiously watched Chloé’s new book the entire class period. The book was mocking her, sitting on the desk like it was innocent.
Marinette eventually got her chance at the end of the school day. Chloé was once again showing off, as Sabrina tugged on her arm, apparently trying to get her to come with her.
Lila was on her other side, with her head tilted in curiosity. "Where did you get this?" Lila asked.
"It's one of a kind and totally a secret~" She fluffed her hair.
"Come onnn Chloé." Sabrina tugged on her arm again. Hard. Chloé stumbled backwards, and Sabrina caught her, face flushed with embarrassment. "Ohmygosh I'm so sorry!" The book was on the floor.
Chloé gaped. She pulled herself from Sabrina and walked away without a word. Sabrina immediately followed after, abundant with apologies.
Marinette dove for the book. And hit her head against Lila's.
She grinned uneasily at her. "Hi Lila." She tugged on the book, with resistance from Lila.
"Hello Marinette, I've got it don't worry." She tugged back, and Marinette's grip hardened on it.
"I can go to return this to Chloé, they look like they're going my direction anyway. No need for you to go out of your way!" She smiled broadly.
"Oh no, it's fine, I wanted to ask her more about it anyway."
Marinette's smile strained, "Funny, so was I."
Lila yellped. She jumped up and twirled, as if she was stung. Marinette only just barely noticed a red blur return to her purse. She raised a brow. Tiki sure was going to great lengths to make sure Marinette had this book.
Marinette pressed the book against her chest and ran in Chloé’s direction. "I'll tell Chloé you said hi!"
Lila huffed and crossed her arms with a frown, watching the girl run off.
-
"Chloé could be Hawkmoth!?" Marinette cried, dragging her hands over her face as Master Fu gave her a confused look. "Bah-wha? I need a plan of attack! Paon Lilas did immediately try to protect her so they must be in cahoots. That must be why she torments so many people! She's not waiting for people to have bad days, she's causing them! How do I confront my own classmate? Do I-"
"Marinette! Chloé isn't Hawkmoth." Tiki said, hands on her hips.
"No?"
"Chloé is a teenage girl, Hawkmoth seems to be an adult man."
Marinette blinked repeatedly. She giggled awkwardly, "Right, right I knew that."
Master Fu shook his head, "But.. Find out where Chloé got the book, and we may find Hawkmoth. I will start translating the book. I am glad you found it, it should be useful."
Marinette gave a firm nod and set out to find Chloé.
-
Adrien stared at the video of Sabrina taking the book and was suddenly very grateful he had thought about cameras when he finally took that brooch…
"Did you know about this?" His father demanded coldly.
He shook his head "No, no. I- didn't know you had that back there!"
"Your friends will not be allowed back here again. Ever."
"What?" Adrien felt like he was sinking, falling, "But father I-"
"They stole the source of my inspiration and betrayed my and your trust. That is not the sort of people I want you associating with. That is all."
Adrien slumped into his chair as Natalie and his father left the room. He stared out the window as a numbness settled into his chest. He didn't know how long he sat there until he noticed Duusu was curled against his chest. A bird flew past outside.
"... Paon Lilas can fly free."
"Huh?" Duusu tilted his head. "Adrien you know what will happen if you transform too often-"
"I just need to get out of this house. Duusu, spread my feathers." Transformed, he leapt out the window and ran.
-
"Not quite what I expected but the result is the same. Kids, so nosy, taking what does not belong to them. It is time I got my 'book of inspiration' back, and perhaps a few miraculous while I'm at it." Gabriel Agreste picked up the empty book. "Come my Akuma, and evilize me."
The Collector grinned. "Surely they won't mind becoming part of my permanent collection."
Natalie and Adrien’s bodyguard were all too willing for their likeness to be captured, but the bump in the road came with his son. Adrien seemed to have run away. He growled under his breath. But, as long as he was out of the way of the fight, it didn’t matter. He huffed and made his way out to cause as much of a show as possible. Eventually the superheroes would show their faces.
-
“Chloé, I didn’t mean to! But really we should return the book as soon as possible! I don’t want Adrien to get in trouble.” Sabrina pleaded.
“Ugh, but I finally had something that Lila didn’t!”
Sabrina tilted her head “I- Why would that matter?” Chloé just pouted. They sighed, “Can we please return the book now? Uh… Where is it?”
Chloé looked up. “Oh nooo, you made me drop it!”
“Sabrina Raincomprix and Chloé Bourgeois,” an ominous voice called. Sabrina spun on her heel. It only took them a glance at the akuma to fall into a fighting stance in front of Chloé. “I am the Collector. You stole my book of inspiration, and for that you shall help me build a new one!” The Collector threw his book like a boomerang towards the teens.
Sabrina pushed Chloé onto the ground before it could touch them. Sabrina got up, and taking the opportunity of distraction, ran.
“Sabrina! You- ” Chloé looked around, finding her friend had already left. “….Sabrina?”
“Looks like your friend left you,” The Collector grinned, “She seems to be all around unreliable, hm?”
Chloé took a page out of Sabrina’s book and ran.
“I knewwww I should’ve just put that book back! Now Adrien’s father is akumatized,” Sabrina turned a corner as Plagg zipped out of her purse.
He shrugged, “Eh, not your fault the door was open.”
They shook their head. “Plagg, claws out!”
They vaulted up and returned to the spot they’d left Chloé and the Collector, only to find both of them gone. “Sorry Chloé…” She gritted her teeth and began to search for the Collector.
They found Paon Lilas before they found the Collector. He was sitting on the roof of a building, legs dangling over the edge, eyes distant. Féline Sombre vaulted onto the roof and walked up next to him. “What are you doing up here, tweety bird?”
He chuckled and looked up at them. “Just enjoying the fresh air. Did you and Ladybug reserve this spot?”
“No, but we do have an Akuma to deal with.”
Paon stood up, “Where?”
“No idea, he disappeared before I could catch him. I already know it’s Gabriel Agreste.”
Paon stumbled. “Are you sure?”
“Yes, he’s aiming to add to his ‘collection’ whatever that means.” She gives the boy a glance over, frowning, “Can I trust you to help find and keep him busy until Ladybug shows?”
He nodded firmly. “I’ll follow your lead, kitty-cat.”
Féline Sombre blinked a little then nodded, “Okay, you go to the left, see if you can find him. We’ll meet up at the Eiffel if we can’t find him. Otherwise, call me.”
“I can call you?”
They blinked “Er- There’s a phone in both mine and Ladybug’s weapons so I’m sure there’s one in your fan?... Good luck. I’ll avoid crossing your path.” She smiled a little then they vaulted off.
He watched her go, the numbness sinking deeper into his bones. He took a deep breath in and headed to the left, watching for someone who would look like an akumatized version of his own father… He let the tides of emotions lead his way more so than his vision, looking for some sense of an exaggerated version of familiar cold anger or disappointment.
He found his father, and the expected feelings were there, but it didn’t seem to fit in with the severity he’d noticed from the last akuma. He didn’t know what that meant. He glanced at the fan, fumbling for whatever would activate a phone. He blinked as the fan created a pop out screen. He found a contact for Féline Sombre, but no Ladybug. He raised a brow, and shrugged, tapping the contact icon. She picked up quickly. “Féline Sombre, I found him. He’s just outside the Louvre.”
“Okay, try to keep him busy and away from the civilians. I’ll call Ladybug.” They hung up, and Paon Lilas dropped off the roof down towards his father.
“Looks like someone got trapped in a race car paint booth,” Paon taunted. His father turned around and smiled at him. He did not like that smile. Was it bad that he was unnerved by his father smiling?
“Hello to you too, little peacock. You’ll do lovely in my new collection,” He lifted his book and aimed, “But before I do, allow me to seize your Miraculous for Hawkmoth.” He threw the book at Paon Lilas.
He ducked and the book hit the guardrail causing it to disappear. He blinked and his father showcased the guardrail's place in his book before swiping it away, erasing it from the page.
"Just stand still, pretty feathers like those need to be immortalized!"
"I'm allergic to paper, actually." Paon Lilas joked. He circled the Collector, getting a sense of his surroundings and how to keep him there. He really didn’t want to hit his father, even if it was an akumatized version of him...
"How unfortunate." The Collector said coolly. He threw the book at him again and Paon leaped out of the way.
"Really, I'm not much of a by-the-books person!"
The Collector growled and caught his book, glaring at Paon Lilas. “I’m starting to see that. You’re all just troublemaking children.”
Féline Sombre did not seem to have the same reservations as Paon Lilas about hitting his father. She vaulted in and kicked him from behind. “Whoops, cat’s out of the bag.”
-
Marinette was definitely glad for the Ladyblog. Having notifications on for Alya’s obsessive tracking of Akumas and the superheroes movements has certainly allowed her to find the Akumas that didn’t show up right in front of her. She turned down an alley, and double checked for onlookers before transforming. She found Féline Sombre’s message, and listened to their briefing while she set out to the Louvre.
Féline was already there keeping the Collector at bay. ...And working with: “Paon Lilas?!”
“Oh! Hello m’lady!” Paon grinned. The book flew at his head and his eyes widened as he leaped into the air to avoid it. “Don’t let the book touch you, it will trap you in its pages!”
“M’lady? I love that!” Féline Sombre giggled, “Can I use that too?”
“But of course, Mittens. I’ve got plenty more where that came from!”
Ladybug landed next to Féline, giving Paon a glare “Oh hush Feathers.”
Paon Lilas gave her an uneasy grin which was quickly erased as the Collector threw a kick at him while throwing his book towards Ladybug. Féline Sombre moved in front of her, blocking with her staff. The staff disappeared from their hands.
“I think we need some luck right now Ladybug!” Féline said, shifting into a hand-combat pose.
Ladybug nodded, calling “Lucky Charm!” The magic provided a miniature trampoline. She looked around with a frown.
The Collector meanwhile, threw his book at the entrance pyramid. He kicked Féline Sombre into the resulting hole in the ground, jumping down after them.
Ladybug and Paon Lilas immediately leapt after. Ladybug caught Féline, swinging in from her yoyo. Paon tumbled onto the ground, and looked over to the Collector. The Collector grinned, throwing his book towards where Ladybug had hooked her yoyo.
“Ladybug!” Paon called. It only earned him a frown and a sharp spike of suspicion rather than her following his gesture toward the book. She and Féline tumbled onto the ground as the yoyo was sucked into the pages of the book.
The Collector caught his book in the other hand, tapping the page with the yoyo, “My collection really isn’t complete with some superheroes in it, but, I promised Hawkmoth your Miraculous first.”
“I’m pretty sure that’s not much of an option!” Paon Lilas went for a punch, only to get blocked with one hand. He ducked the swipe with the open book.
Ladybug looked around, glancing at Paon Lilas’ fan and the book. “Of course! Bird Brain, I need a friend who likes to play ball!” Ladybug raised her trampoline.
Paon jumped back away from the Collector and plucked a feather from the fan. He tried to focus on Ladybug’s determination and imbued the feather with power, sending it Ladybug’s way, “Fly away, little amok.” The feather fluttered into the trampoline. “Got a plan? I assume?”
Ladybug tilted her head at the presence of Paon’s voice sounding much closer than it should be. The mask of light had surrounded his face, and assumedly hers. She nodded. “We’re going to try to see if we can fill up his collection.”
Paon nodded and a bouncy ball dropped onto the ground, and multiplied on the impact. “Meet Doubounce!” Paon winked and caught one in his hand, “Hey, wanna play ball?” He threw it towards the Collector who caught it with his book, frowning. Ah, yes, that looked like the usual response to that question.
Ladybug rolled her eyes and used the trampoline to rebound the multiplying bouncy ball sentimonster towards the Collector “We need Dou and the Collector a little more contained- Féline?”
“On it! Cataclysm!” They touched the stairwell, causing it to crumble, blocking everyone against the ruin and a wall.
Paon started using his fan like a tennis racket, while Ladybug redirected the senti-bouncy balls towards the Collector. He walked towards her, catching the ones that got too close to him. The Collector pressed the book against Ladybug’s lucky charm trampoline, but it didn’t disappear.
“What? Full already?” He flipped through the pages and made a move to erase a page, but Féline kicked it out of his hands. They grabbed the book and tore it in half.
“Miraculous Ladybug!” The swarm of ladybugs returned Ladybug’s yoyo, allowing her to catch and purify the butterfly. Féline Sombre meanwhile, hugged their baton against their cheek.
Paon Lilas snapped Doubounce out of existence and raced to his father’s side. “Fa- Sir? Are you okay?”
He looked up with confusion, but he didn’t… feel confused. Which only made Paon confused. Gabriel looked at the hero, frowning. “What happened? Where am I?”
“Er, the Louvre. You were akumatized by Hawkmoth.” Paon offered his father a hand up, which he accepted. “Don’t worry, it’s over now.”
“You’re… The new one, on the news.”
“Oh uh, Paon Lilas.” He smiled uneasily, and glanced at Ladybug. Who was suspicious again. What was so suspicious about talking to people?
His father nodded, and then gasped, “Adrien! I must find him.”
“I’m sure he is safe. If he was caught by your book, the miracle cure should’ve returned him to wherever he was last,” Ladybug explained.
“Nothing must happen to him. He’s too precious to me.” Gabriel said, placing his hands on Paon’s shoulders (daringly close to the miraculous clipped to his chest). Paon smiled softly, hearing his miraculous beep, as well as Ladybug’s and Féline Sombre’s.
“I’m sure he’s fine sir!” Féline said, “But we’re about to transform back… Goodbye!” Féline waved and vaulted up to the entryway of the Louvre.
“Paon Lilas. We need to talk.” Ladybug said.
“Oh…” He stepped away from his father and placed a hand over his miraculous protectively. “Er… Get back to you on that, M’lady…. Goodbye!” He ran.
Ladybug gave a glance towards Gabriel and smiled, “Sorry sir, goodbye!” She zipped up and away.
Gabriel huffed and called up Natalie. “I’m going to need a ride… I have found a few interesting bits of information about this ramshackle team.”
-
Paon Lilas stumbled into his room. "Fall my feathers."
Duusu appeared with a whoop and giggled. "That was awesome!"
Adrien closed his eyes, standing still as he tried to let the dizziness fade. "Yeah…" He braced a hand against his temple and huffed, "But… Do you know how we can fix the miraculous?"
"Oh no, you're hurt?" Duusu cried.
"I'm fine…" He sighed and sat on his bed, "But it's probably a good idea to fix it if I'm gonna keep using it…"
"It should be in the spell book!" Duusu said, collecting some seeds from a drawer.
"There's a spell book? Where?"
Duusu tilted his head, munching on his snack, considering. "I remember it somewhere!"
Adrien sighed and dropped himself against the bed. "Alright. Guess we gotta find a spell book." He yawned and closed his eyes, quickly succumbing to sleep.

Seeker Pt. 2 - D.M.
Seeker Part 2- Draco Malfoy x fem!reader (unspecified house but not Slytherin)
Warnings: None! Just a fluffy sequel :)
Word Count: 3.0k
A/N: You can find part 1 here if you haven’t read it already! Sorry this took so long, I’ve just been trying to make sure its a worthy sequel. I wanna thank everyone for over 150 notes on Part 1, I never expected such astounding support! Also keep your eye out for the mini surprise at the end ;) Also I would really love feedback since this is my first sequel, especially to my first ever fic.
Just a reminder: Y/N is Your Name and Y/L/N is Your Last Name
----
Meet me at our spot tonight at 11. I’ve missed you.
D.M.
You slid the perfectly-written crisp parchment back into the expensive black envelope it arrived in, to hide it from your nosy dorm-mates. Draco’s owl perched patiently at the open window of your dorm, barely making a chirp. You handed the well-trained bird a small piece of chocolate, which was previously stowed away in your nightstand, before sitting down at your desk to pen Draco a response.
The holiday break had been relaxing, especially since you got a long break from Quidditch practices. You loved Quidditch, you dare say almost as much as Oliver Wood did, but your muscles were perpetually sore, much to your displeasure.
You hadn’t seen the Slytherin Seeker, who you now affectionately call your friend, since the day before break began, and you were desperate to see his handsome smile again. You missed the glow of his hair in the moonlight, the ambitious and determined look in his eyes before a match, the soft touch of his hands as he held your shoulder or less frequently, your hand.
The line between friend and lover had always been blurred with him; often people accused him of being your boyfriend. Some days he reluctantly denied it, but some he just gave you a charming wink as he grasped your hand firmly.
It would be idiotic to deny your abundant feelings for him. At first, it was the subtle ways you’d pick up the little habits about him: how he fiddled with his rings when he was nervous, or how he always polished his broom every afternoon before a game or even the way he swiftly brushed his hand through his platinum blonde hair the moment he saw you walk towards him.
The blush that crept up on his alluring face every time you were near signalled that the feelings were thankfully mutual. He was painfully obvious, as you were sure you were too, so it was only a matter of time before he’d ask you out on a date to Hogsmeade. Hopefully, it will even be tonight.
The blonde’s owl had flown away by the time you realized that you had yet to jot him down an answer. You could always send him an acknowledging wink at dinner since you always purposefully made sure to position yourself for a picture-perfect view of him in all his glory.
Dinner came and went. The food was delicious per usual, you were constantly glancing at Draco from across the Great Hall, you chatted with your friends about the upcoming Potions test, which Draco would surely insist on helping you study for. And of course, you sent him a playful wink as promised.
His silver eyes weren’t off you either. He loved to admire the way your face morphed into a lively laugh or the soft, warm glow that bounced off your face, courtesy of thousands of floating candles overhead. He loved everything about you, inside and out, and he was ready to show it.
By the time eleven rolled around, you were thoroughly prepared. You ensured your hair was perfect and your outfit was warm but eye-catching. You clasped a delicate hand-wrapped forest green box, which’s lid was held on with a beautiful piece of starlight-silver twine.
It was a tradition to get your friends presents upon returning from the snow-speckled break, and Draco would be no exception. You were certain you would receive no gift in return, but you didn’t care. Draco, for lack of a closer term, was your friend, so he was no exception to your tradition.
----
Draco had definitely gone soft on you, and his fellow Slytherins didn’t fail to notice. Every time he snuck out even a second past curfew to see you at the Owlery, or Astronomy Tower, or anywhere really, they’d crack some sort of joke at both his and yours’ expense.
He had not only gone soft on you but perhaps the whole school, in a way. He was less prone to impulsively hexing first years, instead opting for slightly rude remarks. He was even a tad bit nicer to the Golden Trio.
He was still smart and sharp as ever though, maybe even paying a little bit more attention in class, in case you needed help studying.
One thing didn’t change about him though, and that was his attitude regarding Quidditch. He was fierce and strong as ever, and there was no way he’d back down during a game, even for you. Even when he wasn’t playing against you, he’d play extra competitively, in an attempt to both intimidate and impress you.
And whenever it was you on the broom and him in the stands, he always cheered for you as loud as his lungs allowed. You always wondered why his voice was hoarse after you won a match the night before, not thinking that it was his yells that rang the loudest through the pitch.
----
The steps up to the Owlery were icy, just as you were afraid of. Your knuckle was white from gripping the freezing stone rail up the endless steps. Finally, though, you reached the top, unsurprised to see that Draco had beaten you up here. He was always one step ahead, after all.
“It’s felt like ages since I’ve seen you, Y/N. How was your holidays?” His face lightened at the sight of you peeking elegantly through the cracks of moonlight. You looked as gorgeous as ever.
“It was wonderful! I got a brand new Quidditch broom, so be prepared to eat my dust, Malfoy,” you said with a smirk. Your hands rested suspiciously behind your back, carefully concealing Draco’s present.
“Don’t get too ahead of yourself, Y/L/N. Remember, I won’t hesitate to push you off your broom, even if it kills you.” Draco’s words, even the taunting ones, sounded like the most eloquent poetry to your love-struck heart.
“Right back at you. I actually practiced my shoving techniques every morning back home. I bet I could push you off your broom 23 different ways if I really wanted to.”
Draco chuckled at your comment and you let your sarcastic expression fade into a genuine smile. The blonde slowly inches even closer to you; your face is eventually so close to Draco’s that you can see every detail imprinted on his pale skin. He accidentally brushes his ring ornamented hand against yours, causing your cheeks to become pink and warm, imitating the effects of sipping some freshly-steeped tea.
“Well anyway, I have something for you. For the holidays, you know.” Draco pulls out a small black box from his matching black trousers with a charming smile. His rings reflect the pale moonlight magnificently, and you catch yourself staring at the back of his hands.
You slowly accept the box from his hand, your hand half holding his as you take it. You say quietly, “You didn’t have to get me a gift, Draco.”
“I didn’t have to. I wanted to, love. I care about you, more than you’ll ever know.” You felt the corners of your eyes prick with tears at his kind words. Everything he said somehow managed to hit you directly in the heart.
You carefully opened the inky-black box. Draco looked down at you anticipatedly, a hopeful grin painting his face.
Laying perfectly inside of the box was a beautiful, ornate, and expensive silver serpent necklace, identical to the rings that he wore daily. The glimmering eyes of the snake were magnificent, crystalline emeralds, which precisely matched the bold hue of Slytherin’s Quidditch robes.
Your eyes continued to grow misty; your hand that wasn’t admiring every microscopic detail of the necklace was covering your mouth in awe. Draco’s lips quirked into a cocky smile at your reaction, clearly pleased with himself.
Without hesitation, you clasped the necklace around your neck. You couldn’t stop fiddling with it until Draco grabbed your hand, using the connection to pull your chest into his slowly. He softly muttered, “I like you, more than you’ll ever know” before leaning in for a kiss.
Draco’s lips on yours were like nothing you’ve ever felt. He felt magnetic. You would never be able to let go of this moment, the way his hand cupped your cheek gently, the way your hand glided from his chest to his shoulder, pulling him impossibly closer. You felt whole.
When you finally pulled away, your electrified lips yearned to touch his’ again. Instead of kissing him again though, you barely managed to squeak, “I like you, too.”
----
The next Quidditch match came by faster than you expected, and you were scrambling to prepare for your battle against the Slytherins once again. Draco had been gloating all day about how much he and the team had improved since your previous game.
“You may have gotten lucky last match, Y/L/N, but this time you’ll like a first-year learning how to fly next to me. Do you think the gold of the Snitch will compliment my hair?” Draco swept his hand through his perfectly-styled platinum blonde locks, a cocky expression unsurprisingly on his face.
“You won’t even have to worry about whether it matches your stupidly gorgeous head of hair or not since it’ll be me who gets it in the first place!” You retorted, rolling your eyes at him instinctively.
“Oh, really?” he asked flirtatiously, before giving you a small peck. The sudden kiss caused you to become so flustered, that you couldn’t do anything but shut up; he grinned triumphantly at your reaction.
The game started not long after yet again another boastful interaction with Draco. You hovered high above the ground on your new, polished broom, ready to beat your Slytherin ‘rival’ once more.
Draco could be seen across the field, cracking his knuckles in an attempt to look intimidating. While his Quidditch record would ordinarily frighten a Seeker such as yourself, you knew the real Draco, and he didn’t scare you one bit.
A booming “brooms up!” echoed through the pitch, and immediately you flew directly to the top of the pitch, looking down at the whizzing flashes of green like a cat peering attentively through a fishbowl.
Draco soon joined you up at the top of the pitch, following your exact movements just as he had done before. He spat, “Scared, Y/N?” almost identically to the last match.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” you said with a knowing smile. He playfully rolled his eyes at you, and the corners of his mouth raised to an adorable and goofy smile.
“Remember, I won’t be going easy on you, even if things are different. Just because I fancy you doesn’t-” he was quickly cut off by the shimmer of gold seen out of the corner of his eye. His expensive and sleek black broom immediately flew him to the well-manicured grass that lined the ground of the pitch.
By the time you had caught up with the cocky Seeker, he was mere feet from the Snitch. You quickly flew to his side so you two were parallel, both of your hands, which had been intertwined so many times before, now opposing each other in the battle for the elusive winged sphere.
It seemed the game that you and Draco had played against each other last time, which results you wished so desperately would repeat, was doomed to change. He clashed his torso into yours harshly, in an attempt to throw you off.
Instead of toppling off your broom, you tried to give him a taste of his own medicine; you felt your bones shake after jerking your body weight into him, but he looked as if he had only been hit with the force of a leaf languidly fluttering in the wind.
Draco emitted a snarl after you rammed into his side, but he was undaunted in his pursuit of the Snitch. His pupils were practically glued to the medal-colored blur, which was darting rapidly in any direction it could.
You knew you couldn’t beat Draco this time. At least, not like how you had been playing so far. Your arm was too short, your broom too slow, so you used the last of what little energy you had within yourself to pelt all of yourself, including your heart, at him.
Instead of colliding into your green-glad admirer as you intended, you were only met with the cold and terrifying emptiness of oxygen.
The ground felt so close, your tongue could almost taste the metallic copper bite of blood. You could vividly see the way your side would slam into the spiky grass like a ragdoll, your bloodied nostrils filling with the smells of grass and the morning sun. You could envision players draped in uniforms of clashing hues dashing to your pain-ridden body, ready to carry you to Madame Pomfrey.
But due to Draco Malfoy, that horrifying situation remained trapped only within the confines of your mind.
You never thought you could love Draco as much as you did right now.
His arms were outstretched and strong as you landed into them, light as a feather. The blonde strands of hair that clung to his forehead in sweat and the unwavering confident look in his eyes drew you closer to him unconsciously. His biceps, which were nicely toned due to his years of Quidditch, set you gently in front of him on his broom.
He wrapped one of his arms securely around your chest, which soothed your increasingly rapid racing heart exponentially. His other arm was held high above his head, valiantly boasting the Snitch that resided within his glove-covered hands.
The crowd that resided in the green and grey towers of the pitch were erupting with joy. You were almost too shocked from your near-fall to roll your eyes at his huge display of cockiness and pride, keyword being almost. You leaned your head against his chest, listening to the ego-boosted beating of his heart, a stark contrast from your own.
The final moments before the two of you drifted to the ground were spent with him cheering in pride, and you taking comfort from his compassionate embrace. And maybe you were wafting in a bit of his pleasant-smelling cologne, too.
----
Your house’s common room looked dreary and deflated, comparable only to that of a seven-year-old’s birthday party- where nobody bothered to show up. While everyone was sympathetic for you, you couldn’t help but sense a slight tinge of resentment hidden beneath every soft pat on the back or obligatory smile.
The Slytherin common room, however, was filled to the brim with its cunning house-members. Firewhiskey was flowing through the crowd like pouring rain after centuries of drought. The music was pounding so loud that the intricate chandeliers hanging from the top of the dungeon were shaking violently along with the beat.
Draco and his posse stood at the corner of the alcohol-drenched room, leaning against the signature green walls, away from the large mob of partiers that had accumulated in the center.
While the Firewhiskey normally would have clouded the blonde’s head by now, tonight his mind was crystal-clear.
He couldn’t get Y/N out of his head, and frankly, he didn’t want to. He should be focused on how utterly heroic he was during the Quidditch match or his huge victory for Slytherin. But instead, he thought about how you felt under his arm, how your head softly rested on his chest. It felt like the final puzzle piece had been placed, his love and need for you cemented.
He wouldn’t be able to live without your embrace again, he was sure of that, but maybe he wouldn’t even be able to last five more minutes.
He muttered a quick, “I’ll be back,” to his surrounding house-mates before shoving his green half-full cup of Firewhiskey into one of their hands. He walked confidently through the mob of intoxicated partiers towards the enchanted stone wall exit.
His eyes darted around the corridor as he paced towards your common room. You wouldn’t be found in your common room, however, for the sulking of your house-mates was too much to bear.
You instead could be found seated at a desk in the library, channeling your pent-up guilt from your performance at the Quidditch match into vigorously studying for a Potions exam on Monday.
Your beat-up textbook was littered with dog-eared pages and bookmarks scribbled with helpful messages; it lay open on the page for Amortentia. Your hand gripped your quill tightly, carving notes onto your piece of parchment. Your eyes were briskly darting from one word to the next.
You were so wrapped up in your work that you didn’t notice that Draco had taken a seat next to you, enraptured in your presence. His elbow lay pressed on the desk, head in his hand. Your concentration was broken with a clear of his throat, followed by, “Hey darling, what’re you doing?”
“I’m studying,” you said, before adding meekly, “for Potions.”
“Oh love, you know I could’ve helped you,” he said with a disappointed smile. His eyebrows furrowed as he flipped through your notes, noticing you were writing about the infamous love potion. You let the quill in your hand go, letting your hand melt under Draco’s large palm.
In an attempt to cheer you up, he said, “You know, I have a hunch on what I would smell in Amortentia, want to know what it is?” you nodded, “tea, warm autumn’s breeze, and maybe the faint smell of sweaty Quidditch robes.”
You let out a small laugh, adorning your now-pink face with a genuine smile. “You know what I would smell? Expensive cologne, green apples, and maybe a bit of sweetness under a cold exterior.”
“I’m not sweet, but if I was it’d only be for you,” Draco said with a sarcastic grumble.
You looked up at Draco, who simply let his eyes take in all of you, adoring every single angle of your body. The loving look in his eyes was enough to make your heart explode; your legs felt like jelly and your heart was beating out of your chest so loudly, you were sure he could hear it.
And soon he could, as his body grew slowly closer and closer to yours. You pressed your forehead against his’, his molten silver eyes piercing through your own.
Finally, after moments of staring longingly at each other, you tugged his green and grey pin-striped tie in for a kiss.
----
(Bonus) Epilogue:
The Three Broomsticks was filled to the brim with students from the Wizarding School across the bend. Tables were littered with half-drank glasses of butterbeer; a few students could be seen snogging in the back booths of the tavern.
You sat across from Draco Malfoy, your amazing boyfriend, as he rambled endlessly about Potter. You weren’t listening to a word about the famous Gryffindor, instead, you were watching the way his lips articulated every word that spilled from his mouth.
“Right, darling?” Draco asked expectantly.
You nodded supportively. Draco, instead of looking satisfied, quizzically asked, “so you think I should poor my butterbeer all over your head? I’d be happy to.”
“Sorry, I wasn’t listening. You just look so good when you talk, I got distracted.”
“It’s fine, love. Well, I’m glad we finally got to go to Hogsmeade together.”
“After three months too! Why couldn’t you have taken me sooner?” you asked overdramatically, tugging on your bag full of sweets from Honeydukes.
“I’m sorry, but I seem to recall it’s your fault. Study, Quidditch, study, Quidditch, study, Quiddit-”
“Okay, okay. I get it. I’m just not as naturally smart as you, Mister Potions Master.” You rolled your eyes as he grinned at his title.
“Do you only flatter me so I do your essays for you? Because if so, I hate to admit it’s working.” He tucked a loose piece of your hair out of your face and behind your ear tenderly.
“Oh, Draco. You don’t need to know.” You fiddled with the silver serpent necklace that hangs around your neck that had been kissed so many times.
You were head over heels for Draco. Luckily, you were all his, and you would be forever.

A/n: This idea just popped into my head this morning and I needed to write it out, guess who finished in one day instead of focusing on summer school aha ha...so here’s the next edition of Class 1-A quarantine hc’s! I think I’ll include a bit of background for all of these, just for future reference if anyone likes them lmao. Today we have everyone’s favorite nitroglycerin king, Bakugo Katsuki! Hope y’all enjoy cause I’m honestly so soft for this one okay BYE-
Surprisingly, you’re initially part of the Dekusquad, but you’ve always been close with Kirishima and Mina and feel comfortable hanging out with their group as well so you start gravitating to the Bakusquad
At first, Bakugo is really standoffish because, “You’re seriously friends with that damn nerd Deku” - wow everyone be hating on our cinnamon roll smh
But then he sees how much the rest of Bakusquad likes you and he starts warming up
It starts with small little things like not hogging all the space on the couches in the dorms and having you sit beside him
Then he notices that you’re very forgetful of your jacket and he ends up keeping a spare in his bag just in case the weather gets really bad
“I mistakenly grabbed two this morning, so lighten my load and carry the jacket—I don’t give a shit if you put it on, just hold it will you!”
He’s acts all aggressive whenever he tries to be subtle and someone calls him out on it pffft-
“What the hell are you talking about? You trying to get punched in the face?”
And his feelings are emphasized when the whole class is allowed to use the pool one afternoon and you’re pulling up with Mina and Momo
You’ve got a cute swimsuit and a sun hat on, and King Explosion Murder starts sweating a dangerous amount of nitroglycerin
Bakugo Katsuki has a thing for soft girls who can pull a one-eighty and kick ass no I do not take criticism
The class wants to play chicken and everyone is choosing partners, but in the corner of his eye Bakugo sees you getting cornered by Mineta
You’re usually able to handle the horny tornado but you’re feeling a bit too exposed in a bathing suit and start losing your cool
When I tell you the whole Bakusquad BOLTS to come rescue you-
Mineta is literally launched out of the pool by Sero like a rocket ship in orbit and the rest of the group is in this protective barrier formation around you (yes the squad has protocols for this kind of thing don’t even deny it)
Bakugo is beside you in a second with his hands secured on your waist because no one is coming near you like that when he’s around
“Why don’t you be my partner, yeah?”
And that's the story of how y’all destroyed everyone at chicken with absolutely no mercy and Bakugo finds your competitiveness that entire day attractive as hell
Walking back to the dorms afterwards, he pulls you away from the group and the look he gives you is s e a r i n g
“For the love of God, go out with me” and he does not have to tell you twice
Literally the entire class is SHOOK because you’re actually pretty mellow and Mr. My Only Vocabulary Word Is Die is...ya know...✨volatile✨
But let’s be honest he’s actually a softie if you’re close enough to him (sorry Deku you’re the exception but we still luv u) and everyone ends up adoring y’all being together
When quarantine rolls around and you both have to live back at your respective houses, everything is decently calm for about two days and then you both start getting bored as hell
Honestly longer than you expected
Bakugo hates social distancing with a passion but he agrees to abide by the rules and ends up asking you to Facetime at least twice a day
His bedroom is actually very tidy ‘cause Bakugo hates clutter, especially when he’s doing schoolwork
I wholeheartedly believe that Bakugo is a beast in the kitchen and y’all can fight me about it because his knife skills are canon and you best believe he learned it to be more independent
He’s been experimenting with new cooking recipes and is a master at making something out of practically nothing in his fridge, which is really handy when a trip to the grocery store is long overdue
He sends you pictures of his dishes and your responses are all praise and none of it’s exaggerated either; this boy can COOK
Netflix Parties with the Bakusquad — the chat gets loaded with Denki and Kiri spamming and Bakugo yelling at them in all caps to shut up
Your lock screen is a picture of the group on Facetime and you all have filters on (somehow you got Bakugo to use one don’t ask how); literal friendship goals
And then it’s been about a whole month since quarantine started and Bakugo wants to come visit you, but his mom shuts that down quicker than Barry Allen in the Speed Force
He’s pissed because he and his family feel perfectly healthy but his mother will not let him leave under any circumstances
So when his parents go to visit some relatives who were more susceptible to the virus and needed help with a couple basic tasks you decide to sneak out to see him (in good health of course)
Imagine his surprise when his typically rule-following girlfriend calls and is already standing in his backyard, bags of groceries in your possession
***
Bakugo shot you an incredulous look as you sat at the kitchen table. “You know I could have just opened the front door for you.”
“Yeah, but going through the window was way more fun,” you defended. “It’s not like I’m very rebellious at any other time, so might as well live it up while I have the courage.”
The blond snorted, sifting through the numerous bags you brought along to his house. They were filled with an assortment of foods: vegetables, meat, rice, sauces and the like.
“What’s all this for?” he inquired, pulling out a bottle of teriyaki sauce.
You couldn’t help the small smile that grew on your face as your boyfriend curiously examined the items. “It’s for you to cook with, duh.”
“And how am I supposed to explain the new abundance of food in the fridge to my parents?”
“Say that I had it sent over through Postmates or something. Even I thought of that, Katsuki.”
He rolled his eyes as he placed down the last bag of items. “I can’t believe you snuck out and brought all this stuff,” he murmured, leaning over to kiss the top of your head. “Thank you, babe.”
A faint blush rises to your cheeks, despite the fact you’ve been dating the first year student for a few months now. Girlfriend or not, verbal thanks from the King Explosion Murder was rare. “You’re welcome.”
Bakugo turned to the stove and started organizing a number of ingredients on the counter beside it, pulling out kitchenware from cabinets as he went.
“Since you’re here and all, I suppose I could make your dumb ass something,” he remarked.
Your eyes practically sparkled with excitement at the offer; you were hoping the blond would make you one of his iconic dishes eventually. A ghost of a grin was present on Bakugo’s face at the cheer that left your mouth, his back facing you as he got started.
You were quick to situate yourself on top of the kitchen counter, Bakugo lifting you by the waist to place you farther away from the flaming stove but still allowing you to watch as he worked. His knife skills were almost scary when chopping up the vegetables, the pace at which he was cutting them astonishing you, and the overall aroma of the space had your mouth watering before he was even close to finishing the meal.
“I feel like a judge on Master Chef,” you giggled, and the boy shook his head at the comment as he eyed a timer he had set for the pork he put on the stove.
“I’m pretty sure my girlfriend of a judge would be a bit biased over the contestants,” he pointed out.
You hummed thoughtfully. “I mean, if he keeps looking this attractive while making food I think my bias is justified.”
He glanced at you perched on the counter top, and took a few steps in your direction, cupping your cheek in one hand to kiss you quickly.
“You’re distracting me,” the first year mumbled, running a thumb over your jaw. “Quit being so cute, dummy.”
You saluted playfully. “Yes, chef.”
He let out a soft laugh before moving back to silence the timer that had started beeping, alerting him that the pork on the stove was ready to go. The blond shooed you away and had you sit at the dining table as he took the skillet and turned off the stove flames.
As you waited patiently for Bakugo to finish up, you sang under your breath and set two spots at the table directly across from each other. By the time he was done, two plates of steaming food in hand, you were already sitting down and twirling a fork between your fingers.
“What did you end up making?” You asked as he set a plate of rice and pork in front of you.
“Tonkatsu,” he replied nonchalantly.
It smelled like absolute heaven, and your hunger was only emphasized in the midst of the fast food you had been surviving off of during quarantine. This boy was even good at presentation, and you began to wonder if he was just talented at everything he tried.
Bakugo took the spot across from you and watched as you took the first bite. He wouldn’t admit it, but he felt a bit nervous that you wouldn’t like what he made. But that thought dissipated as quickly as it came once your fork flew into the meal for a second time, and you shot him a wide-eyed look.
“So good!” you exclaimed with a stuffed face, a few grains of rice falling from your mouth and back onto the plate.
“Don’t speak with your mouth full or you’ll choke, stupid,” he reprimanded, but your praise had an evident effect on the male as a smug smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.
“I expect gourmet lunches from you at least once a week when school starts again.”
“Not a chance in hell that I’m doing extra work in the mornings.”
“I’ll buy you all the ingredients you want~”
“...I’ll think about it.”
Next thing you knew, all the food on your plate was gone, gladly relocated to your stomach. Rounding the table, you wrapped your arms around Bakugo’s shoulders as he also finished eating.
“Thank you for dinner, Katsuki,” you hummed contentedly, resting your chin on his head. “It was seriously masterclass, especially after all the takeout I’ve been eating.”
“Yeah, yeah, you’re welcome,” he waved it off. “I think a movie of my choosing is in order.”
“After we clean up, hot shot. Your mom would kill you if she realized someone was over.”
“Why wouldn’t she kill you too?”
“Please. Your mom loves me.”
The blond barked out a laugh before standing up and holding your waist, ushering you back to the kitchen. “True.”
Cleaning up was quick and easy with the both of you working together, stocking away dishes and remaining groceries. The evening sky, visible through a large window in the living room, glittered with stars as you sidled next to your boyfriend on the couch, the kitchen and dining room returned to its normal prestige.
“Katsuki?” you murmured, voice laced with a touch of contented sleepiness.
He turned his head from the television screen to face you. “Hm?”
“I missed you, silly.”
An arm was thrown around your shoulder and you were pulled closer to the male, who gently kissed your temple.
“I missed you too, dummy.”

outtakes [76]
“What have we become that one of the biggest and truly pressing issues we have is an abundance of dragonfruit?” Xingqiu asks, eyeing the giant crate that Chongyun is dutifully sorting through. “Aiyah, where are our gloves? We have work gloves don’t we? Stop that, what if you can a thorn stuck in your hand and I can’t see it to take it out?”
“Hu Tao’s family always makes sure to cut all the thorns off before mailing them, otherwise they’d damage each other in transit,” Chongyun points out, examining a bright yellow dragon fruit before offering it to Xingqiu. “And I’m being very careful. What have we become that out of all things you’re fussing over me getting thorns in my hands from dragonfruit? It’s not the worst problem to have. You can drink dragonfruit. Xiao-ge and Gan-jie are stuck with persimmons. What do you do with persimmons? Dry them? It’s still the same amount of space. You’d still have to eat them later.”
“Are you seriously going to juice an entire crate of dragonfruits?” Xingqiu asks, gingerly taking the offered fruit from Chongyun’s waiting hand. He carefully turns it over in his hands. “If so tell me when so I can be out of the house. You’ll be juicing all day and that machine is a terror on the senses.”
“You wouldn’t help?”
“I’d help by warning all the neighbors so we don’t get a noise complaint.”
“I should take these over to your parent’s house,” Chongyun says, “I could juice them there. Your grandparents love fresh juice. Also, it’s not an entire crate of dragonfruit. There’s other stuff in here. It looks like they sent us some plum wine, too.”
Xingqiu sets the fruit down, “Well why didn’t you say that to start with? I’m going to write Hu Tao’s family a note. Do we have any relatives with produce we can ask to send something back to them? It always feels weird that they’re sending us hand raised produce from their farms and we send them back stuff we grab from the bulk grocery store. Ah, I’ve been meaning to ask. Why did they stop sending us the red dragonfruit, do you know?”
“I told them I like the taste of the yellow one better,” Chongyun replies.
“There’s a difference in taste?”
“Yeah?” Chongyun tilts his head. “The red ones aren’t as sweet but they have more texture. Like cola? Fizzy? The yellow ones don’t have the same fizzy feeling but they taste much sweeter.”
Xingqiu pauses in the middle of pulling out carefully wrapped bottles of wine to stare at Chongyun.
“Red dragonfruit is not fizzy.”
“I’m probably not explaining this properly,” Chongyun admits. “It’s not like — the flesh of the fruit isn’t fizzy. It’s just when you put it in your mouth the tongue gets tingly. Like drinking cola or sparkling cider.”
“It does not do that.”
“It does — why are you looking at me like that?”
Xingqiu covers his mouth with a hand, looking down at the bottle in his hands. “I need to open this. Apparently you’ve been allergic to dragonfruit this entire time and didn’t know it. How have you survived this long? Your health record must be as densely packed as the six p.m. mainline from the harbor to central.”
“I am not allergic to dragonfruit.” Chongyun plucks the bottle from Xingqiu’s hands before he can actually open it and start drinking. It’s too early for Hu Tao’s family’s plum wine. It’s incredibly strong. Sometimes just smelling it makes Chongyun’s head spin and fingertips tingle.
“You are describing the symptoms of an allergic reaction. I do not need to tell you this. You are the licensed medical professional from an entire line of medical professionals,” Xingqiu replies, clicking his tongue.
“I know the difference between an allergy and food texture,” Chongyun protests. “It isn’t an allergy.”
“I bet you if we called up Hu Tao to ask her relatives right now why they really stopped sending the red ones they’d say it was because you’re allergic. Not because you said the yellow ones taste better. Did you tell them that it…feels like sparkling cider?”
“Yes.”
“They probably thought you were trying to be strangely polite about saying you’re allergic to red dragonfruits. They probably thought you were being weird about it and felt bad that they’d inadvertently been sending you things you can’t have.”
“No.”
“Yes,” Xingqiu pulls his phone out. “In fact, I’m going to text Hu Tao to ask her family right now. Knowing her, she’ll either have an answer for us in the next thirty seconds or she’ll have me on read for the next two days. We’ll see. But in the mean time — did they seriously mail us tanghulu? They know we can get that here, right?”
“They what?” Chongyun peers back into the box and sees brightly wrapped candied fruits cushioned in thick paper underneath the wine bottles. “Maybe this box was for Hu Tao? Ask her.”
“Already did and — ah. She’s answering. Oh, apparently they’re experimenting with new things on the farm. They got tired of just having fruit lying around so they decided to try tanghulu. They’ve sent it to everyone. Also, yes, her family does think you’re allergic to red dragonfruit.”
“I’m not!”
“Well, we’ll not be testing that anytime soon.” Xingqiu starts to pull out the candied fruits and the wine from the crate. “Did they send anything else? Apparently they sent Xinyan’s family some wild boar meat. They are ecstatic about it. They’re going to barbecue. Xinyan’s going back for the weekend because of it.I think she’s bringing Keqing and Yanfei with her.”
“What about Xiangling?”
“Unfortunately busy with a charity cook off, remember? We’re going to cheer her on.”
“I thought that was next week?”
“No, no. That’s when Yanfei’s running a charity auction. We’re going out for dinner afterwards.”
“Are you sure it’s not the other way around? I thought that was this weekend.”
“It’s not, check your calendar.”
“As if I’m not constantly checking my calendar,” Chongyun sighs. “I’ll check again, but I know I’m right. It’s because I had to fit in a new patient visit right before Xiangling’s cook off and I needed to stop at the clinic in between. If this is Hu Tao messing with our calendars again I’m going to — “
Chongyun trails off, helplessly. Xingqiu sighs fondly, reaching over to pinch the man’s ear. “You’ll what? You can’t handle Hu Tao. Not even with a good amount of alcohol in you. I can’t even handle Hu Tao. Zhongl-laoshi can’t handle Hu Tao. We’ll have to toss it to Keqing. Good news is that Keqing is probably on our side. She holds the calendar app as near sacred.”
