having re-read susan cooper's the dark is rising after not doing so for a while, I'm now more astonished than ever that they even attempted to make a live-action film of this.

#it's charming and the world building is cool but it often reads like a dream #in that time isn't linear and you lose the plot sometimes #so with that in mind it's even less surprising to me that the movie was.....bad #hard to jam All That into like 2 hours and pray your special effects are enough #now an animated series? that might have a better chance. it could match the whimsy #i'm imaging something a la spiderverse or the book of kells where it's super stylized #christopher eccleston did slay though it must be said #the dark is rising #susan cooper #my musings
