Note: I wrote this because I need a scene where Max gets a hug, cause the boy needs one, and I need him to know just how much Malex love each other. It didn't quite happen like that lol, but I still like it.

Also, thinking about doing one similar with Liz and Alex, though I don't know if I'll go through with it.

"Max!"

Michael raced inside the cave, heart in his throat as he ran faster than he ever had in his life.

He stopped a couple of feet away from where his brother lay, and his breath hitched in his chest when he saw the cage he'd built to contain Jones in pieces all around him.

When he could finally move again, he walked over to Max and dropped down to his knees beside him. He extended a shaking hand to his neck, and let out a shaky breath when he found a pulse that was maybe a little too weak, but was there.

"Max?" He tapped his face, a little harder than was probably necessary, "Max, come on-"

Max gasped and sat up, a hand going to his sternum as his chest heaved.

It was like he was drowning.

"Max? Max, hey, look at me," Michael grabbed his face and forced him to look at him and not at the place where Jones was supposed to be. His brother's eyes were red and filled with unshed tears, and his whole body trembled under Michael's hands.

"He's out," Max whispered, words slurring slightly, "I did this, Michael."

Michael gripped the back of his neck and pulled him in until Max's forehead rested on Michael's shoulder. Max let out a shuddering breath and burrowed closer instead of moving away like Michael expected him to.

"I did this."

Michael squeezed his neck before he forced him to pull away. "We'll figure this out, Max."

"I don't know if we can. He's strong, Michael."

Michael smirked. "Yeah, well, so are we."

He called Isobel to let her know Max was okay on the drive over to Max's house.

His sister was relieved, and pissed that Jones got away, but they agreed that the best thing to do would be to rest, gather their strength. Jones could be anywhere by now, and they were all exhausted and not fit to be chasing down an evil alien who was probably stronger than all of them combined. If they were going up against Jones, they needed a plan, and a lot of acetone, and maybe a miracle.

"How's Max?" Isobel asked quietly.

"Not good, Iz," he answered, "he's- he's really dying."

Isobel sniffled, but her voice was hard as steel when she spoke, "he's not gonna die. We're not gonna let him. We've survived much worse, right? We can survive this."

He looked at his brother, who was passed out in the passenger seat, his cheat rising and falling gently. “Yeah," he whispered.

"He's gonna make it, Michael."

I hope so.

The plan had been to drop Max off then go back to his bunker, but when he got to his brother's house, he found that he couldn't stand the idea of leaving Max alone, so he told him he needed to make sure he got out of the car without face planting as an excuse to walk him to the door, then told him he needed to raid his liquor cabinet as an excuse to follow him inside.

Max apparently knew him too well because he fixed him with a look. "You don't have to stay, Michael. I'll be fine on my own."

Michael pursed his lips and was about to walk out when Max spoke again.

"I'm sorry," his brother said softly, and he seemed to mean it.

"What for?"

"Not telling you about this," he said, pointing at his chest, "I just- we were brothers again after so long. We were happy, and I didn't want to mess that up."

Michael felt tears prick at his eyes and it made him irrationally angry. "Did you stop to think about what your death will do to me? To Isobel? We would’ve been blindsided by it."

Max looked away. "You'll be okay."

"Not for a long, long time, Max. You're my brother, man."

Max sniffled, and when he looked at him, there was a curious look on his face. "You're different."

Michael's brows furrowed. "What?"

"You seem different. Settled? I don't know," he shrugged, "you're calm."

Michael looked down at his hands to avoid his brother's knowing eyes and shrugged. "Don't know what you're talking about."

Max scoffed. "That's a lie."

Michael rolled his eyes at him and raised an eyebrow. He changed tactics. "I'll tell you what happened if you tell me why you went to Jones when you were so against it."

Max stared at him long and hard. Michael shrugged again.

Max's shoulders slumped. "Okay, deal."

Michael nodded, but then sighed, trying to figure out how to put into words. Finally, he settled on one word: "Alex."

Max's eyebrows hit his hairline. "Alex?"

"Told me he knew it wasn't me who was murdered."

"And you believed him?"

"I did."

Max was even more curious, Michael could tell, but he was also exhausted, so he didn't press for more. His eyes drooped and Michael kicked his foot out and caught him in the shin. Max glared at him.

Michael smiled. "Your turn," he said loudly.

Max huffed. "Liz."

Michael rolled his eyes. "What'd she do this time?"

"She came back," his voice cracked, "she came back for me, and she wanted- I think she wanted to try again."

Michael leaned forward, leaning his elbows on his knees. "And?"

"And nothing," Max exhaled, "I told her that I didn't want her to be a part of my life."

"Why would you do that?"

"I want her to live her life. I can't-"

Michael laughed. "You think it's gonna hurt any less if you die when you're not together? Max, that is possibly the dumbest thing you've ever thought. Ever."

Max shook his head. "It's easier this way."

"Yeah, for you," Michael retorted, "Liz didn't even get to make a choice because you pushed her away. She deserved at least that. Do you know how hard it's gonna be for her to be so far away from you, wondering if the next call was the one to tell her you were dead?"

"And how would you know?"

"Because I was in her shoes more times than I can count, Max," he exclaimed, the words echoing like a gunshot in the sudden silence.

"Alex."

"Yeah."

Max pursed his lips. "You really love him, huh?"

Michael didn't hesitate.  "I do."

"He loves you?"

Michael shrugged. "Hell if I know," he told him, smiling wryly, "he never said the words, but- tonight-"

Max dragged himself closer until their shoulders were brushing. "Maybe he's been saying it, but you haven't been listening," Max muttered softly.

"Maybe, but you are mine."

"I never look away, Guerin."

"If I had gotten out, left Roswell, and I asked you to come with me, would you?"

"I was afraid if I gave it to you, you would leave, and I didn’t want you to go."

"You know, I used to really think you and I would end up together."

"You asked me to."

The song that Michael was pretty sure was written for him, about him.

"If it were you, I would not cover it up. I would burn the entire world down first."

He let out a breath and looked down at his brother, who was asleep with his head on Michael's arm now.

He smiled. "Maybe."

Pairings: prince!Edmure Tully x princess!reader

When you were but an infant, an evil mage placed a curse on you. You were cursed to die at the age of sixteen by pricking your finger on a spinning wheel. It sent your father and mother into a panic. While destroying every spinning wheel in the kingdom, the king turned to three other magical creatures in hopes they could remove the curse. They couldn't. But they were able to change it. Unfortunately, that still meant you were in danger. So even though it killed them to do it, your parents sent you away into hiding. You were not to return until after your sixteenth birthday.

*sixteen years later*

Edmure rode away from the castle, desperate to get away. After traveling for days to get there, Edmure had been immediately stifled by the planning of his wedding. To a princess he'd met once! When she was a baby and he wasn't much older! Edmure hadn't understood when he was young why the princess had suddenly disappeared and now that he was older, it didn't matter. He didn't want to marry you. Sometimes he hated being the only prince in the family.

Edmure urged his horse to stop when he reached the woods. He didn't know what he would do out here, but he needed the breathing space. He dismounted and lead his horse over to the nearby stream. After splashing water on his face, Edmure heard a sound. It was soft at first but gradually grew louder. Singing. Someone was singing.

Although he wasn't curious by nature, Edmure found it odd for someone to randomly be singing in the woods. After giving his horse a pat on the neck, Edmure followed the sound of the voice. It didn't take him long to locate the source. A woman. She was walking so gracefully, it was almost like a dance. A soft song escaped from her lips and called to him like a siren.

Edmure shook his head at himself. He'd always been something of a romantic as a younger man. It seemed that hadn't stopped as he grew older. He watched for a moment longer before deciding he was being creepy and decided to leave the young woman to her devices. Unfortunately, as Edmure moved to return to his horse, he stepped on a fallen twig and snapped it, the sound echoing through the otherwise quiet woods.

"Who's there?!" Edmure cursed under his breath before revealing himself. "My apologies for startling you, Miss. I heard you singing." The woman let her shoulders lower. "I didn't realize I was singing so loudly. I should go and leave you to your plans." She turned to leave, but Edmure called out for her to stop. He wasn't sure why exactly. Maybe he just wanted to talk to someone outside the palace life.

YOUR POV

You faced the strange man and bit your lip. You knew you should return to your cottage with your aunts, but you NEVER got to talk to anyone outside of the three of them. Before you could talk yourself out of it, you nodded and set your basket down. You followed after and patted the grassy space next to you.

Your stranger sat with only minor hesitation. From there, the two of you spoke at length. You learned your stranger was a prince. It seemed you learned so much about him in such a small amount of time. As the sun began to set, you found yourself not wanting to part from his company. Still you knew you needed to return home before it got too dark. The woods was a treacherous place in the dark.

With a sigh, you got up and brushed off your skirts. Your prince rose as well with a frown on his face. "I'm afraid I must go." You moved to leave, but he gently took your hand. "Will I see you again?" You smiled and nodded lightly. "Tomorrow is my birthday. Perhaps you could come then? I live in the little cottage in the glen." He agreed happily. You bid him farewell and quickly returned home.

The smile never left your face as you enjoyed the evening with your aunts. It even stayed as you began making your way to your bed. And when the questioned you, you didn't want to say anything. You knew they'd be upset and you'd always been a terrible liar. They kept on until you finally admitted that you met someone. "He's coming here tomorrow to meet you all." Your aunts exchanged worried glances. "I-I think you'd better sit down. There's something you need to know."

EDMURE'S POV: The next day

There was a spring in Edmure's step as he headed out. He couldn't wait to see his mysterious woman again. As he was about to ride off, Edmure's uncle stepped out. "And just where do you think you're going? The princess is returning home this evening!" Edmure grimaced. He had honestly forgotten about the princess.

"Sorry, Uncle. I shall return later, but I have an engagement elsewhere." His uncle's eyes narrowed. "This wouldn't have anything to do with your disappearing act yesterday?" Edmure tried to keep his expression neutral. "Because you are getting married," his uncle continued, "You have no time for mucking about now." Edmure clenched his fist by his side.

"Uncle, for once in my life I have something to look forward to. I met a lovely young lady. One I could see myself being wed to and happy with. I don't know the princess and I may refuse to wed her once we finally do meet. I want this one thing." Edmure's uncle scoffed. "Then take the girl on as a mistress, but you will marry the princess." Edmure watched his uncle walk away without giving him the chance to retort.

Anger coursed through Edmure's veins at his uncle audacity. His new friend was too good to be a mistress. He wouldn't do her the dishonor of even suggesting such a thing. He hoped the walk to the cottage would help him calm down enough to enjoy her birthday with her. With that hope in mind, Edmure headed out to the woods once again.

When he reached the cottage, something seemed off. The inside was dark, not even a candle in the window or smoke billowing from the chimney. Edmure drew his sword as he entered the cottage. Not that it did any good. A trap had been set. He couldn't believe it. Had she done this?

"Well, well. This is a surprise. I set my trap for a peasant and instead, I catch a prince. We have much to discuss, Prince Edmure." Edmure recognized the mage from the stories he'd heard. This was the mage that had cursed the princess. Edmure didn't have a chance to ask before he was pulled from the cottage toward the dark, towering castle that loomed in the distance. The mage didn't speak again until Edmure was chained to the walls of a cell in the dungeon of the crumbling palace.

The mage stood across from him with a smug grin. "Why am I here? What does the girl from the cottage have to do with this?" Edmure growled out. The mage looked surprised for a moment before laughing. "You haven't figured it out? She is the princess! And my curse will come to fruition tonight!" Edmure shook his head.

"No it won't! Even if she is the princess, true love's kiss will wake her!" Another dark chuckle escaped the mage's lips. "Except her true love is right here. And here is where you will remain until you are too old to make the journey back to the castle. Oh, you'll try, of course, but you will be weak. Still, you oh valiant prince will not give up. I have seen it. After all, in the case of true love, 100 years is but a day. So, you will leave here and you will make the journey. And you. Will. Fail. The princess will sleep for an eternity!" The mage's cackle echoed through the dungeons as they left Edmure alone.

Edmure's thoughts bounced all over the place. If what the mage said was true, there was no hope. But he couldn't believe that. There had to be a way to save you. Edmure sat, ignoring the clanking of the chains, as he thought of ways he could get out. He had no idea what time it was or how long until sunset. Even if he did manage to escape, who's to say it wouldn't be too late? As every hour passed, Edmure's hope began to dwindle.

Just as Edmure's positivity was running out, a small flash of light caught his attention. As he looked up, two more flashes had him blinking rapidly. When he could see clearly again, Edmure nearly jumped out of his skin. Three obviously magic-wielders stood before him.

"Prince Edmure. We've come to rescue you. The princess is already sleeping. You're the only one who can help her." Edmure stared for a moment. "But, what if I'm not her true love? What if I am?! I don't want to force this on her…on Princess Y/N…I can't believe that the girl is actually the princess."

"We really don't have time for this, my prince. We have to move before the mage discovers we're here. If we can get out without being noticed, you would not have to take on the mage without reinforcements." Edmure stood as one of his saviors used magic to rid him of the chains keeping him in the cell. They all used their magic to summon a sword and shield. Edmure felt powerful(though he was grateful they hadn't summoned a bow. He wasn't really good with those) and he felt like he really could save his mystery girl. That he could save you.

Unfortunately, Edmure's exit wasn't exactly quiet and he ended up having to handle all the mage's little minions and then the mage themselves. It took everything in him and he was certain he nearly died several times. But eventually, Edmure was victorious. He was coated in sweat and dirt, but that was the last thing on his mind. He had to get to you.

The magic-wielders, who Edmure learned were the people that raised you, told Edmure where they'd placed you. Edmure stopped short when he saw you laid out on the bed. You looked so different than you had in the woods. Still, beautiful, but different. Edmure knew what he had to do next, but he wasn't sure he wanted to. He didn't exactly have your consent in this.

With a sigh, Edmure at least decided to clean his face first. He moved to the basin and washed quickly. Once he was cleaned up, he came back over to you. "I am so sorry for this. I hope you will be able to forgive me," he whispered. Leaning forward, Edmure pressed his lips to yours in a soft and quick kiss. Your eyes fluttered open and you gave him a smile.

"I forgive you," you said softly, "But if you ever kiss me without permission again, I will hurt you." Edmure let out a relieved chuckle. "I wouldn't have it any other way, Princess." You sat up and threw your arms around him. "Thank you for saving me."

Thoughts journal about Season 13!! 💪💪 (1/4)

Phew, I actually made it to the English release without spoilers! 🤩 I do know general things about little plots for the ninja, hopefully nothing major! Finally, the Cole season we've all been waiting for, with Rock Mom and possibly plenty of our Earth baby development! COLE IN THE SPOTLIGHT AT LAST!! 🖤🖤

Well, I know I'll be shooting rainbows from my eyeballs if I see even one Nexo Knights reference! For the rest I don't really know what will happen, I'm curious! 🤔

It's the 6th of July, and here we go!!

GENERAL THOUGHTS

Is it just me or the dialogues sounds better? More built up, funnier, cohesive just like in the earliest seasons of Ninjago? Maybe it's just me but I'm really appreciating 🤷‍♀️

It also doesn't feel that rushed anymore! Which was my biggest problem in Prime Empire really. The episodes seem to me like fragments of a nice movie, not a too long story forced into 11 minutes. I'm very happy with the quality so far, I feel good about this for now! 👍

No matter what season it is, you can count on The Fold to make an AMAZING intro!! Freaking awesome, it was epic and very final battle like 👌👌 I WANT THE FULL VERSION ASAP!!!

I do appreciate we are not forgetting about the adventures we had until now, it feels like from season 11 forward we are building a new backstory of. But they still show stuff from the very first seasons so I'm happy anyway 😍

Pff, Cole plays Prime Empire right after being trapped in it. And Lloyd joins in! YES!! Maybe there is hope for a season without greenie being traumatized! 👍👍

Is it me being a "I've rewatched this show way too much" type of fan to feel that Nya saying that Jay using Spinjitzu for chores will get Wu mad might be a reference to how the guys had cleaned the very first Destiny Bounty with that? You think that Wu found out and got crazy mad? That would be kinda cool 😂😂

Okay, poor sensei and all, but he's kinda right 😅 I like Wu, I really do, but Aspheera was a problem kinda because of him, they all going to another dangerous realm could have been dealt a lot better if he hadn't been so on edge and in Prime Empire he freaking got kidnapped by NORMAL PEOPLE. Maybe he is getting old 🤷‍♀️

At last, he has returned...

Idk, Jay and Nya's meeting had that one very awkward color question (💙❤💙❤), Kai literally heard romantic music while looking at Sky (❤🧡❤🧡), Lloyd was being mocked all the way by the guys as he looked at Harumi (💚😰💚😰). This one seems a bit weak? I don't mind it actually, I'm actually a bit curious about how it will develop since it started like this 🤷‍♀️

References to Hiroshi's Labyrinth and the Tournament of Elements, my fangirl heart is happy 😍 Is it too much thinking that the maze was a reference to Shadow of Ronin, since they all went there in the game while in the show only Lloyd was at the Labyrinth? Idk 🤷‍♀️

I am legit enjoying this 👌 They are building up questions and I do hope we'll get a good flashback moment with Rock mom... or even finding out if something else happened to her... EXCITED 🤩🤩

So to be the main ninja of a season lately you have to be either without powers (Kai Fire Chapter) or trapped in an unknown place (Zane Ice Chapter and Jay Prime Empire). Cole got them both 😅

There we go, the divided team! I knew about Kai and Zane stuck together, I remember stuff not too promising about Nya having to fight for Jay, but I'm honestly really enjoying the season so far! I like the pace and it doesn't seem as rushed as before! I hope we get to some good plot twists and backstories soon!! 🤩🤩
