i was violently sobbing this morning thinking about ruhn + percy so im just gonna leave my broken little babies here:

“He had never, not once, looked at her with an ounce of anything but wonder. Like if she was the one thing he could see for eternity, that would be alright with him. And that’s how he looked at her now. Percy let out a strangled cry as if she recognized the look. A cry.

“I love you,” She whispered, and it wasn’t her trembling lips that Ruhn looked at when she said the words that made him feel like his chest was going to crack right open. It was those piercing green eyes now lined with silver, the tears that were leaking down her face that he’d never seen before. As if losing him would be the worst thing to happen to her. “—you did that, Ruhn. You showed me I could.”

Ruhn could see it in her face she didn’t care who they knelt before as she pressed her brow to his. Kissed his one eye, then the other. Her lips were so soft, kind and gentle like he’d dreamed they were. They were wet when he opened his eyes. Was he crying? Why was this starting to sound like goodbye?

“I would’ve gone with you,” Percy smiled as she said it and Ruhn swayed forward at the sight. “—a million years ago. I would have, had everything not… been so fucked up.”

“Percy,” Ruhn finally managed to breathe out and her head snapped up to Rigelus, but all Ruhn could do was look at her. Fuck, she was so gods damned beautiful.

“For a warm smile on a really bad day, Ruhn Danaan.” Eyes flicking back to his, she smiled again, once more. Just for him. “I never forgot.” Percy whispered, and kissed him for the first and last time.”
