Friday, August 25.
A tribute to the state of Georgia, USA.
Georgia, Georgia, Georgia. And what a fine state it is. For reasons unbeknownst to us, we found ourselves compelled to celebrate every last one of its 59,425 square miles when we awoke from nourishing slumber this morning and pulled the duvet from over our faces. As we drew back our collective curtains, we found our faces struck by magnificent morning light; a light all too reminiscent of those rich hues you only find down in that most famous of American states.
It's a state as beautiful as the name suggests, and with an embarrassment of riches to explore and enjoy: Stone Mountain Park, the cities of Atlanta, Athens, and Savannah, wild horses roaming Cumberland Island, its famous southern hospitality, its iconic peaches, The Varsity—the world's largest drive-in restaurant, Anna Ruby Falls, having your fingerprints taken, the World of Coca-Cola museum, the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ah, #georgia. There really is no place quite like it—it's not so much a state as a state of mind.
So if you find yourself in need of a holiday, whether a week's vacation, city break, or a few days hiking and camping in the best the natural world has to offer, you could do a lot worse than head down to the state of Georgia, USA. Don't forget to get a cute pic while you're there.
Say cheese x

Pokémon #0084 - Doduo
"Doduo live in wide open plains, grasslands, and savannahs. Both heads have an identical brain; however, this is only a theory. It is also theorized that the two heads communicate with some form of telepathy for coordination. Even when sleeping or nourishing itself with food and water, one head is usually awake and alert and keeps a keen eye out for enemies."

The Reptias
North Reptia
-A largely temperate continent, with arctics to the north and deserts to the south. North Reptia is split in half by mountains. On the east side of the mountains is vast grasslands, forests, and a long coastal swamp, as well as the Reptian Arctic to the north. To the west of the mountains is a large desert and shrublands, as well as the Shattered Isles. This continent is home to a diverse range of wildlife, dominated by Reptilians.
Shattered Isles
-The result of centuries of erosion, these isles are home to very unique geography that has given host to a unique ecosystem.
Tyrant Peaks
-Stretching from the bottom to the top of the continent, this mountain range is the oldest in the world, and thus one of the shortest. The mountain ranger supports a boreal environment.
Princepia
-A giant crescent shaped island chain of large islands spanning the western coastline of North Reptia, separated by a strait. This island chain supports a mix of desert and tropical environments.
Oasis Lake/River
-A giant freshwater gulf near the north of the Reptian Desert. It serves as a valuable source of water in an otherwise harsh environment. This lake breaks off into a river that flows out into the Princepian Strait.
Cera River
-A long winding river leading from the mountains in the arctic down into the southern swamps and flowing out into the Gulf of Reptia. The Cera River forms a delta at its mouth, creating many little swampy islands.
South Reptia
-A largely tropical continent, volcanic mountains span the southwest and northeast coasts, creating a vast valley through the center of the continent. Desert to the northwest and swampland to the southeast tips of the continent, dense and lush jungle covering the volcanic mountains, and savannah cutting through the valley.
Fire Mountains
-The western mountain range, and home to the mighty Phoenix. These mountains are covered foothills to peaks in dense lively Jungle that serve as home to a thriving ecosystem, nourished by the energy from the volcanoes
Titan Mountains
-The eastern mountain range, and breeding grounds for the mighty Titanopod. These mountains are covered foothills to peaks in dense lively Jungle that serve as home to a thriving ecosystem, nourished by the energy from the volcanoes
Phoenix Valley
-Vast arid grasslands, cut through by winding rivers. Once every 12 years the newly adult generation of Phoenixes come down and scorch the valley, killing dead weight and making way for new life in the valley, before mating and going back into hiding for 12 more years.
Phoenix Valley River
-A series of rivers that flow down from the mountains and through the center of the continent down into the swamp, forming deltas.
Spinus Islands
-A small Island chain at the southern tip of the continent that serves as the home to the Spinosaurus. Once this was a frozen land bridge to Auroria, but now that ice has melted, separating the landmasses.

It hurts like a blister to stand here and he could blame the heat, the wretched burden of the moment, or all of those long years in Savannah. Either way he didn't like the feeling that seared across his insides. There are scars everywhere and none of them are ones that he wants to cultivate, none of them are feelings that he wants to nourish and let go. But Silver stands there and that just gnaws on the open wound, it just makes it grow bigger and bigger. Is he aware of the effect that he has on him? Does he understand how burdened it made him feel to stand there talking to Silver now? After everything? He took down a hard swallow, tapping his fingers on the splintered wood of the railing. "You mean this isn't about….winning?" He questioned with a cant of his head, his brows furrowing lightly. "Because this is what you knew it was going to be, isn't it? Showing to me that you've won and that everything is yours and that I have nothing?"

Discover the Power of Oils for Black Hair: Your Ultimate Growth Guide
Black hair is naturally drier, and it needs that extra boost of moisture to thrive. Oils are like nature’s little miracle workers, packed with nutrients that penetrate deeply, seal in hydration, and protect your strands from breakage. Whether you're struggling with hair loss, dry ends, or just want to supercharge your growth, these oils are your new besties!
My Top 4 Oils for Black Hair Growth & Health
Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) – The Growth Stimulator If your edges are thinning, or you’re noticing breakage, this oil is here to save the day. JBCO doesn’t just sit on your scalp – it stimulates it. The ricinoleic acid in this oil boosts circulation, encouraging faster, thicker hair growth. And guess what? You can use it for brows and lashes too. Talk about multi-use magic!
Boba Oil – The Hydration Hero Boba oil is like the best-kept secret for hair care. Coming straight from the African savannah, it’s rich in omega-3 fatty acids that provide deep hydration, making your curls soft and bouncy. Plus, it's super lightweight, so no greasy feeling – just healthy, moisturized hair that lasts all day.
Marula Oil – The Frizz Fighter Let’s be real – frizz happens to the best of us. But marula oil is here to fight it off. Packed with antioxidants and fatty acids, marula oil adds shine, tames frizz, and strengthens your hair with every use. It’s like an instant smooth operator, perfect for those days when you want sleek, defined curls or a polished protective style.
Mongongo Oil – The Heat Protector Ever heard of mongongo oil? This nutrient-dense oil is perfect if you love heat styling but hate the damage. It forms a protective barrier around your strands, so when you straighten or blow-dry, you’re locking in moisture instead of frying your hair. Say goodbye to heat damage, and hello to healthy, protected hair!
How to Use These Oils for Maximum Results
So how do you use these oils effectively? Here’s the secret: it’s all about layering and consistency.
Scalp Massage: Warm up your oil of choice (I love mixing JBCO and Baobab) and gently massage it into your scalp. Do this twice a week to stimulate blood flow and encourage growth.
Sealing Moisture: After washing and conditioning, apply your oil to damp hair to seal in moisture. This keeps your curls hydrated and prevents breakage.
Deep Treatment: For an intense hydration boost, try a hot oil treatment once a month. Heat up your oils and apply generously to your scalp and strands, then cover with a shower cap for 20-30 minutes. Rinse out, and your hair will feel nourished from root to tip.

The Saber-Toothed Cats of California: Fierce Predators of the Pleistocene
Charles R. Knight Wikimedia Around 15,000 to 20,000 years ago, the landscape near present-day Los Angeles was a diverse mix of environments shaped by the end of the Ice Age. Cooler and wetter than today, it was dominated by savannah-like grasslands, wetlands, and patches of dense forests filled with towering oaks and pines. Prehistoric rivers and lakes dotted the landscape, nourishing a rich…

Day 3!
Our stary in Trinidad and Tobago has been truly amazing. We’ve had so much fun and have learnt quite a lot!
Yesterday, after our tour, we were so tired that we got back to the hotel and just fell asleep as soon as we touched our beds. As soon as we woke up, we were starving and just ordered some food from a pizza place that was nearby. When we were eating that pizza, we started laughing! We couldn’t believe we were eating such a basic thing when we were visiting such an incredible and exotic place! So we made a deal: We were going to have some traditional “Trini” food the next day.
So, on our third day, we went out to look for some traditional cuisine. We decided to go back to the tourism center and look for our dear friend Tamika so she could recommend us the best place to eat real food from her country. She told us not to look for fancy restaurants and to go to Queen’s Park Savannah to look for street food being sold on food trucks! So, because we were already familiar with the park from our visit on our first day there, we went to look for some good food by ourselves!
We were quite impressed by everything as you can see! :)
Once we got there, we got to see a lot of food trucks and small shops that seemed to have recurrent costumers because some of them had really long lines of people waiting to order some food! We actually spent quite a while looking for something to eat, but we didn’t really know what was on the food and we didn’t want to buy something that we wouldn’t enjoy!
We’re sure that we had such a lost expression on our faces with all these new food items that we had never heard before, that a couple approached us and asked if we needed help! We told them that we had travelled all the way from Chile and you wouldn’t believe this, but they turned out to be from Chile too! It is always such a nice feeling to find people from your own country when you’re visiting such a remote place like this one.
Turns out they had been living there for 2 years now because they met at University of Trinidad and Tobago! So we asked them for some food recommendations and they told us to try two dishes: corn soup and something called “Bake and Shark”.
The day was a surpisingly chilly afternoon, and because we spent so long looking for food, the sun was already setting and we hadn’t brought anything warm to wear! So the corn soup was actually a blessing. When we recieved our bowls whit the corn soup, we immediately thought “This is just like a Chilean Cazuela!” just by the looks of it, but when we got to try it, it wasn’t the same flavour as our favorite chilean soup. For starters, corn soup is actually vegan! It does not include any type of meat or animal products of any type, is just made up of an exquisite mix of various vegetables and what we thought was meat were in fact dumplings! Even though we love ourselves some cazuela, corn soup deffinetely was a huge surprise and delicious! Our new friends, Carlos and Alejandra, tolds us this soup was usually consumed when you knew you were going out partying and wanted to have a strong stomach or for the day after partying as a nourishing dish!
This is Trinidadian Corn Soup!
And this is a Chilean Cazuela! They look so similar!
We were finishing our corn soup when we went to pick up our “Bake and Shark”. And yes, just as the name says, it is real shark meat! We were a little worried about trying something so exotic. You would certainly not find shark meat that easily were we come from! But if you’re visiting new places, you should try to embrace it fully and food is a really important cultural aspect that no one should miss out on when going abroad. So we went for it.
Bake and Shark consists of fried flatbread with fried shark meat and other various ingredients and sauces. In this case, our bake and shark had lettuce, pineapple, coleslaw and tomatoes. We were told that we could put some ketchup or mustard on it! But we decided to try it as it was. The best way to describe shark meat is to compare it to chicken! At least when it comes to the texture, because as far as the flavour, neither of us could come up with a similar food item to compare it to, so we think the best way to expierence this is to travel all the way to Trinidad and Tobago and try it yourself! We were a bit scared of trying such a foreign type of meat, specially when we hadn’t even seen a real shark in person before because they are not a common sea animal in Chile. But after all, Bake and Shark is quite a tasty and unique dish!
After eating alongside our new friends, we went out for some drinks nearby! We had the best time 😀

Sitting within the Masai Mara National Reserve in Southwestern Kenya, one of Africa's most renowned wildlife and wilderness conservation regions, the lodge is a sophisticated and thoughtful sanctuary from which to discover nature and breathtaking vistas in harmony. Exhilarating guided game drives offer guests the opportunity to observe the "Big Five" that Masai Mara is home to, including lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinoceros, and elephants. Between June and September, the reserve is host to the annual great wildebeest migration, which sees more than 10 million animals travel a distance of 1,800 miles from the Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania.
"Fostering meaningful connections and nourishing the soul is at the heart of the JW Marriott brand, so entering the luxury safari segment is a natural next step," said Bruce Rohr, Global Brand Leader, JW Marriott. "Offering our guests once-in-a-lifetime experiences and a deep connection to place, JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge balances the thrill of a game drive with thoughtful opportunities to switch off and take it all in. We are excited to welcome travellers to a transformative and wellness-forward stay delivered with JW Marriott's legacy of extraordinary hospitality."
Inspired Design The lodge's elegant interiors, designed by Kristina Zanic Consultants, seamlessly blend the savannah inwards, drawing inspiration from the elements with soft, warm tones, natural materials and textures, and native colours thread through its design. Each of the lodge's 20 private tents provide a peaceful sanctuary to recharge and reset, and feature terraces overlooking the River Talek, a water source and habitat for many wildlife. The tented honeymoon suite offers a private plunge pool, while two interconnecting king and twin suites are ideal for families with children over the age of six (the minimum age of guests at the lodge). Wellbeing and Mindful Practices In keeping with JW Marriott's ethos of mindfulness, the lodge is home to a number of thoughtfully designed spaces from the cosy Adventure Lounge full of books to get lost in and a space for young adults to take time for themselves, to the Cultural Deck where guests can gather around the fire pit to share tales of the day's exploration. Capturing the essence of rejuvenation, the Spa by JW emulates the serenity of the reserve and offers tailored experiences and signature treatments which blend locally inspired techniques and therapies. These are complemented by natural and organic products by renowned African skincare brand, Healing Earth, also available as in-room amenities. Guests can enjoy spa treatments from the comfort of their tented suite, accompanied by the sounds of the wilderness. Extending beyond body to mind and spirit with guided yoga, treatments include a 'Masai Celebration' incorporating local botanicals and therapies. Nourishing Culinary Journeys At the heart of the camp is the JW Garden - an outdoor space for guests to spend time discovering home-grown, organic ingredients, including the lodge's signature rosemary. The garden's produce is used by the lodge's chefs to craft personalised dishes, cocktails, and mocktails. The garden will host daily programming, including live cooking, interactive cocktail mixology, and chef-led talks for a true farm-to-table experience. A relaxing gathering place, Fig Tree Lounge offers panoramic views of the surrounding plains from the indoor and outdoor bar and serves refreshing cocktails and mocktails infused with seasonal ingredients from the lodge's garden. An indoor and alfresco dining experience at Sarabi Restaurant takes guests on a nourishing epicurean experience guided by JW Garden ingredients and local culinary heritage. Guests can venture out into the reserve with the lodge's guides to enjoy a freshly prepared 'Bush Breakfast' or dinner while sipping sundowners and soaking in the breathtaking savannah vistas. Connection to the Locale The lodge's community programming provides an authentic insight into meaningful local projects, including The Maa Trust, an organisation empowering local people by promoting small business start-ups. The lodge donates a percentage of the nightly rate per person to the organisation and provides a space for craftspeople to retail Maa Beadwork and produce. Guests can visit The Maa Trust to meet with local artisans and forge a deeper connection to the people in the area. Currently, 60 percent of the lodge's team are locals, with plans to reach 70 percent, ensuring the hotel's contribution to the socio-economic development of the region. As an ongoing initiative, JW Marriott Masai Mara's Apprenticeship Programme invites young women from the community to diversify their skills and broaden their experience to kick-start their careers in the hospitality industry. Partnership with the community began during the early development process of the lodge. Developed on land committed to a tourism project so as not to unduly disturb the surrounding environment, much of the construction was undertaken by local experts overseen by technical specialists, with build materials sourced from sustainable suppliers. The lodge has rehabilitated access roads to the property, installed power to the area, and provided access to clean drinking water for locals through a water treatment plant. Emphasis on waste reduction and recycling is integral to daily operations. The lodge's water treatment plant provides recycled and sanitised water; food waste is placed at the lodge's compost site; and water wells are dotted around the lodge for animals to quench their thirst throughout the day. By supporting local organisations such as The Mara Elephant Project and The Mara Protector Conservation Programme, JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge contributes to protecting animals and their habitat across the greater Mara ecosystem. Bringing a passion for the surrounding wildlife and nature to guests, the lodge's Head Guide is a lifelong conservationist who holds talks about local culture at the lodge as well as guided walking tours. With an abundance of meaningful moments to experience at the lodge, guests can delve into photography and learn new skills at the lodge's very own studio. JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge is a 30-minute drive from Keekorok Airstrip and a 25-minute drive from Sekenani Main Gate.
