I. UNSCRUPULOUS HERO : 

An Unscrupulous Hero is an Anti-Hero who is a step further down the slippery slope from the Knight in Sour Armor and Pragmatic Hero; where the former lacks the positive outlook and the latter the moral cleanliness of the Ideal Hero, this archetype combines and amplifies both, especially the lack of moral character part, while remaining A Lighter Shade of Grey than the antagonists.Despite this, these heroes share one overriding heroic trait: unlike a Nominal Hero, they are heroes in the true sense of the word: when they have to take a stand on one side or another, they choose to fight for good for a morally positive reason, and aren't just helping the heroes for selfish reasons.

II. BOOK DUMB :

Making your child character Book Dumb is seen as a great way to appeal to the masses (especially when creating a This Loser Is You) without having to show them being outsmarted by other characters on a regular basis. A Book Dumb character will usually show excellent "street smarts", is quite capable of thinking on their feet, and is often very good at problem solving most of the time, but he (and it is usually a boy) does not function well within a regimented learning system. Maybe he's just not good at that type of learning. Maybe he's clever, but can't resist an opportunity for mischief. In extreme cases, he may even be a genius or inventor at home, but devolves into a functionally illiterate bad boy as soon as he enters through the school gates. Maybe he's just Too Dumb to Fool. Or he might be a Genius Ditz.

III. MOUTHY KID :

This is what you get when a child believes they know better than adults, except this time, they actually do. Almost always on the side of good, most likely belonging to the Chaotic Good category, this character isn't an indiscriminate back-answerer like the Bratty Half-Pint but rather steps up when an unreasonable or outright abusive authority figure tries to do something stupid or horrible (or just simply when adults do something he or she finds stupid), instead of submitting quietly to their authority. What separates them from your average Kid Hero is their snarkiness about it, at least at first.

IV. HIDDEN HEART OF GOLD :

Bob is a total Jerkass. He's the type to knock a guy down and kick him when he tries to get up, the type who'll bed a girl then toss her aside. Just ask anyone. Bob's a guy you do notmess with. Come to think of it, just ask him. His "rep" is such that he's a slave to it. And for a guy like him, stuff like that is what makes others fear and (sometimes) respect him. So why is a nice girl like Alice with him? Well Alice knows of a different side, one wherehe's always nice to her when they're together; she's seen him do a few good deeds when he didn't know she was watching. Like reading to orphans, making donations to charity, or just plain helping others. Thing is, eventually Alice is going to confront him about his true self, call him out for his crime of... kindness.

V. JERKASS HAS A POINT :

He's not good. He's not nice. He's a jerkass. What he just said is not what the main characters wanted to hear but he's right. The jerkass in question can be anything from your ISO Standard Jerkass or Anti-Hero all the way up to any flavor of Villain (though the chance is inversely proportional to the distance they go down the "slippery slope"). Whoever he or she is, they're seriously deficient in the morals department, at least from the point of view of the perspective characters. Then they have a moment where they say something undeniably true - the good guys don't have to like what he's saying, but they can't deny he's right without deluding themselves. Cases typically involve the listener conceding the point or a trustworthy source agreeing with the jerkass. Perhaps even the protagonist is caught on a moral stumbling block, and the antagonist is all too glad to point out their hypocrisy. After all, at least the antagonist is honest about it. Or maybe its the antagonist who is a hypocrite and sees the moral failings of the others but not his own. It is all too often that the character is Right for the Wrong Reasons, making some legit points, albeit for entirely selfish reasons.
