i headcanon that when dogday gets really angry with catnap to the point he's willing to fight him,Kickin always protects catnap in some form since he is supposed to be like an catnap an reassuring presence in canon if i remember correctly so he would most likely take hits for catnap without fighting back (your au reminds me of notglue's au on twitter tbh)

I like notglue's au, notglue made a lot of angst for sure but I didn't steal it.. I just like dogday hating the feline's ass (passionate)
