cant say i had “toby fox does an official ed sheeran remix” on my 2023 bingo card but here we are
#i haven’t finished the pokemon dlc yet but i went ahead and just listened to the song#i liked the remix decently considering the source song is not my type of thing#i appreciate the fuzzed out emo/grunge melancholy of it#i like how he’s been subtly bringing in these 90s/aughts influences to some of his pokemon compositions#really pulling on the nostalgia and grounding them in the franchise’s roots#not with gba-era chiptune or other simple references to the Old Games#but by blending the new material with non-VG music of the time#im thinking also of the ace academy battle theme and its unbelievably sexy ska breakdown#anyway.
