Heeseung is the type of s/o who always wants to try out something athletic. When he found out that you box- he internally geeked. He thinks you're super cool and he kind of looks up to you in a way.

You inspire him to try and learn the sport, and when you agree to teach him some techniques he gets hype and is passionate about it. He is super focused and listens to you closely, but he gets competitive easily.

He’s actually a little jealous that you're stronger than him and when you do some open sparring together he gets frustrated when he begins to lose quite easily against you. His inner urge to be protective of you gives him hell when he knows you're more than capable of taking care of yourself- so capable you could probably protect him more than he could.

Jay becomes a little nerd. He is constantly found doing some research on his laptop or his phone (for on the go) on how to take care of an athlete properly. He makes it his number one priority to provide you with all the care you need, as if you were a unique pet or something. He looks up recipes and meals and cooks them for you, making sure you get the protein and strength you require and to keep you strong.

He randomly buys you more equipment even when what you have is already fine. He wants you to have all the new cool gear you could ever want to make you feel confident while you're in the ring, but he also secretly wants your training partners to see how much he can spoil you.

When Jake saw you spar and box for the first time, he instantly made it his whole personality. This man brags about you to EVERYONE you meet. If there's a few seconds of silence, he's immediately going to fill it with stories about how amazing and talented you are. It's always “well my s/o is way stronger than you so” or if someone started hitting on him, his response would probably be “my s/o WILL beat your ass”.

He pretends like he knows the rules and what's going on when he watches you, but he really has no clue. He is just happy to see you do your thing. He commonly makes “oohs” and “ahhs” noises while watching you- covering his eyes every so often when he cant make himself look at a nasty throw.

He also loves to make you specialised playlists to get you hype during your conditional sparring, but what he doesn't realise is justin bieber songs do not really count as “hype” for boxing practice.

Sunghoon gets really jealous when he watches you spar with absolutely anybody that isn't him. He silently keeps tabs on everyone you work with and he sits there analysing to make sure they dont take it too far or try to cheat. He will criticise and intimidate your opponent a lot when you aren’t looking because he thinks you're the best there is and he refuses to accept any less.

If you happen to lose a match- before you can even turn, Sunghoon is already arguing with the ref and other coaches, even if it was a really fair game. He might know how to embarrass you a little bit but he is really just looking out for you the one way he knows how.

Boxing isn’t really Sunoo’s thing but he LOVES to cheer you on. If you have 100 fans, Sunoo is one. If you have 10 fans, Sunoo is still one. If you have 1 fan, it’s Sunoo. If you have 0 fans, Sunoo has died. He is really like your number one cheerleader at every single match and session you have.

Sunoo loves glaring at and side-eyeing anyone who cheers for your opponents. He will automatically make it his number one mission to cheer louder than them, as if it was a life or death situation. He will sit down and get crafty making obnoxious signs and posters to show you off and support you.

Jungwon is a little scared of you, but it's more what you're capable of that he is scared of. In fact he is scared for your opponents and sympathises with them a little because he knows you're going to win no matter what. He is definitely your personal mental coach in boxing. He is always trying to give you the best advice, mentally prepare you, remind you it's okay to lose and not to get ahead of yourself.

Most importantly he nags you to not get hurt. Like, constantly. If there was a day that he had not brought up your safety- something is wrong. He turns up at every competition with a full first aid kit and too many bottles of water to count. On the rare occasion when you do lose- he still takes you out and treats you like a worldwide winner.

Niki loves the fact you can box because intruding on your practice is one of his favourite things to do. He loves constantly messing around and playing with you. He never takes it seriously, but instead makes sure you don't overwork yourself by making up little games. Of course he always cheats though and it often ends up in him tackling you in one way or another.

He will wind you up just to see you get pouty and upset with him because he finds it adorable, but he makes sure not to take it too far because you will 100% crush him. He takes the most unserious 0.5 photos of you in your gear, tells you to smile with a mouth guard in and makes it his wallpaper on every device he owns and his profile picture on every social media he has.

ALRIGHT ILL GIVE YOU THE WHOLE TLDR this started when my friends moved to mornings. The two people I am closest to at work are my friends Sophia and Rachel and they are both directors at my store while I am just a manager. So ALREADY I'm jealous because they get to go to all these director's meetings together, and then they both move to mornings and not only does that suck because they get to see each other all the time and I see them maybe twice a week BUT THEY LEFT ME WITH ALL THE GUY MANAGERS So one of the guy managers I have spoken of before is Ben. And he is the one that I now work with the most. I used to be kinda close with him while he was dating one of the other managers but we kinda waned out of friendship after something happened on one of my leading shifts (it was not deep.)

We will remember Ben as the Capricorn I work with who broke up with his girlfriend because of a conversation he had with our boss about how she is not the kind of girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with (as she had been going to parties a lot???) and then he broke up with her at work right after her shift and as he started his and then he had sexual relations with a FRESHLY 18-year-old girl that he had been doing one-on-ones with for work while he was still sleeping with his now ex-girlfriend and she found out because she went through his watch text messages at work

mhm. So. he is a pretty good friend to have. He is very funny, and is easy to make fun of and he's actually pretty supportive. Working with him all of the time I have gotten closer to him. I used to go to the gym with him and my other coworker Blake but when all the aforementioned stuff happened I stopped. Anyways we all started seeing each other at the gym again and THEN my coworkers Nam and Blake moved to the same apartment 'neighborhood' as me. I joked with them that I would be at their apartment all the time cause we live so close

I've always been kinda friends with Nam since we both like anime and we're the same age, but we aren't actually that close. Anyways Blake was having his birthday party at Nam's apartment and I got myself invited because I am annoying :) And the people there are Daniel, Blake, Nam, and Ben. Somehow, that turned into this group of people hanging out EVERY tuesday. I left my sweatshirt and Nam's apartment on Blake's birthday and so everytime Nam saw me he would loudly be like WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK TO GET YOUR SWEATSHIRT (as if we had fucked and I like it there... humiliating) so I start getting invited to hang out with the group which has extended to adding Minnie, Cassidy, my friend Justin, my coworker Aaron and his friend Kellen.

This is a WEIRD group of people and my friend Rachel does get jealous pretty easily. They both HEAVILY judge me for my friendship with Ben (fair) and they really judged me when I told them about the hangout so I didn't show up like two weeks in a row but for some reason they always text me and call me if I don't show up so I've started going anyways

So Rachel had taken over the schedule and on the very few times that I got to see her I would joke that she purposely moved herself to mornings cause she doesn't want to work with me. Anyways I am mean when I joke. I know this. I tell people this because I'm really insecure about it because I'm so "nice" all the time no one believes me and then I hurt someone's feelings and I want to cry. So anyways she started crying because of these jokes and she said she felt like I was mad at her.

I wasn't but I also was a little because also we were supposed to hang out with some other friends Emilee, and Chelsea and my friend Dawn and Emilee said she couldn't hangout that day and they planned to hang out then anyways without even trying to find a different day that would work. That's shitty. And then she said that she just really wanted to hammer down a day because she had been trying to plan this since august but like that was just bullshit it was the ONE day Emilee couldn't hang out she just didn't try hard enough and didn't even care that she was leaving Emilee out of it.

SO I was really stressed cause I didn't know how to tell them I thought that was really shitty. And also during ALL of this I am really really depressed. I don't want to talk to anyone, every single shift I worked I would cry because it was so hard and then I ran out of my anxiety meds so I was having panic attacks every single shift.

Anyways Rachel tells me I'm mean, she cries, I cry and then try to ice them out because I don't want to cry and make it all about myself. I have a cute breakdown.

It's really confusing to have this weird group of friends who really want to hang out with me and then Rachel and Sophia who want to hang out with me but also know that Rachel is mad at me. And it's really stressful to remember that if I talk about the people I am hanging out with the most and who seem to want to talk to me the most then my other friends will be mad at me. But if I don't hang out with that weird group of friends I will be so lonely because the only other person that I want to talk to all the time is busy and I am definitely smothering them cause I'm so fucking annoying

So, also I have no one to talk to about work. Rachel and Sophia don't work with the people I work with. I complain about everything if I can and also when I complain about things that Ben do they immediately get him in trouble for it by dragging our store operator into things when they aren't that serious and I am already dogging on him for it so now it's like if I complain about ben it gets back to him and one of these days he is going to be mad at me for it

I always say I can't complain about things because there are always consequences so I stopped complaining about things at work and Rachel and Sophia get mad at me for not talking about work things because we basically don't talk like at all.

However case and point, I told them ages ago that I wanted to learn interviews and they pretended to be excited about it and I mentioned it to them more than once and then a month later they are training James. Not me. So I ask Rachel oh is James learning interviews as if I didn't want to immediately start sobbing upon seeing it. And she immediately said some shit about brittni (our bosses wife) wanting to make sure I wasn't too stressed with school. I ASKED TO LEARN INTERVIEWS. WHY WOULD I ASK IF I WOULD BE TOO STRESSED ABOUT IT BECAUSE OF SCHOOL.

so I complain about it in passing to Blake and my boss over hears that I am upset about something but I don't tell him because I am being a baby right. Well my boss follows up with blake and blake tells him the truth and then my boss thinks that I am upset at him over it. Which I'm not. my boss didn't know I wanted to do interviews. So after our cute little "you should have asked me" chat I cried and then because of that I think rachel got in trouble because I immediately got scheduled to learn interviews.

I DONT WANT TO DO IT NOW. I complained and now everyone things I'm a fucking cry baby. which I am.

and i just. am so greatful for the friends I have but I'm miserable everyday and people are mad at me cause I don't talk about my feelings anymore and I don't even know what they think I just can;t do anything without upsetting anyone.

I don't know. I just really need a therapist but no one will get back to me so I'm just stuck with a dumb psychiatrist who things higher doses of sedative medicine will cure my anxiety and thus minimalize my depression. Whatever. I just hate being a cry baby and being so mad at myself for being a cry baby and then having people tell me how nice and great I am, like I'm not you know what i mean? AND YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN narcissist. Oh boohoo a bunch of people want your attention and want to hang out with you that's so hard. 1. A song you loved the first time you listened to and never got tired of? “Soufflé” by Audrey Nuna - this is a pretty chill song but also a little trippy, it’s hard to describe without actually listening to it but it’s got a nice vibe and is totally unique so i end up listening to it on repeat for a long time lmao

2. A song that makes you cry/get emotional every time you listen to? “행복했던 날들이었다 days gone by” by Day6 - this was the first song that popped up when i turned my music on after hearing the news that my grandpa had died. it gave me comfort and still does to this day, and despite the song being about remembering a former lover/significant other, the falling out presented in the lyrics sounded very similar to my grandpa and i’s relationship and how we used to be really close and grew more distant the older i got and after i moved away. i hadn’t seen my grandpa for three years when he died, but i still have the memories of when we were closer and during very happy times, so this is a very bittersweet song for me

3. A song that always makes you happy? “MIROH” by Stray Kids - this song always makes me wanna get up and dance no matter what mood i’m in, it instantly perks me up and makes me feel better and more energized after listening to it. i love the faster paced songs and this is right up my alley so it’s perfect if i’m trying to cheer myself up

A song you would dedicate to your best friend and/or your family? “Hard Times” by Paramore - this is to my best fucking friend in the whole world who i love so much. i know we struggle a lot both separately and together, but we got each other in this big mean world and i’ve got your back no matter what. this is our favorite band, and it gives me flashbacks to us driving around our little ass hometown in high school (even though this came out WAAAAY after we graduated lol) grabbing wendy’s french fries and cheese sauce, just talking and laughing and crying together. you’re not on tumblr much anymore and you dont follow this blog because you arent a kpoppie like me so you probably won’t ever see this but i am so happy you tolerate my annoying rants about whatever tangent i’m on, thank you for everything, you make the hard times easier, i love you forever, ILYBBBBB!!! A song with production (sounds, beats, mood, etc.) you love? “Yummy” by Justin Bieber - i have such a love/hate relationship with this song, because the instrumentals and beats are so addictive! the lyrics though....so horrible omg if i was his wife i would be offended this was the best he could come up with for a song written about me i’ve never been a bieber fan either so i was expecting to completely hate this song, but the instrumental is enough to keep me listening to it, idk, it’s definitely a guilty pleasure song though (the remix of it he did with Summer Walker is SO MUCH BETTER, SHE SAVED THIS SONG FORREAL PLEASE CHECK IT OUT)

A song with perfect, amazing, outstanding lyrics? “Norman fucking Rockwell” by Lana Del Rey - HOOOOO BOY LANA WAS NOT FUCKING PLAYING WITH THIS SONG, BILLIE EILISH IMMA LET YOU FINISH BUT NFR SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN ALBUM OF THE YEAR JSJS. but seriously, this is such an eloquent ‘fuck you’ to those pretentious ass guys we all come into contact with and honestly, how raw of a line is ‘you fucked me so good i almost said i love you’? VERYYYYY, LANA IS QUEEN

A song that you would recommend to anyone? “Color Blind” by Maddox - this is something i would more so recommend to someone who was maybe just starting to get into kpop/k-r&b or isn’t really a fan of the boy/girl group stuff, it’s much more mellow and a really beautiful song, but i would also recommend it to anyone as a good song to listen to because it’s very easy listening and Maddox has such wonderful vocals

8. A song you don’t understand why you like so much but you do anyway? “Cry for Me” by Camila Cabello - ......ngl i dont care for lil miss camila as a person but i dig this song a lot, it’s got a good beat and is a pretty spiteful song i can relate to when i’m feeling petty, reminds me of a particular ex i wish was able to see how they hurt me but that’s all in the past now

A song you think people in general don’t like but you do? “Cherry Bomb” by NCT 127 - idk why people don’t like this song???? genuinely???? it’s actually the song that made me stan NCT in the first place, and tbh the ‘if you happy and you know it clap your hands’ made me roll my eyes but it was (AND STILL IS) a complete bop, and it really surprised me when i heard that a lot of people hated it

A song people normally like that you don’t? “Feel Special” by TWICE - BEFORE YOU COME FOR ME, I DO ACTUALLY LIKE THIS SONG! however, i like “Fancy” a lot better, but the consensus with most onces is that “Feel Special” is superior, which i disagree with. both songs are great, but my personal preference is more upbeat happier songs, hence why i like “Fancy” better

A song you would call a masterpiece? “Dope Queen Blues” by Adia Victoria - this is arguably my favorite genre/style of music and it is just perfect, Adia Victoria is a wonderful artist, she has a perfect blend of melancholy lyrics, a haunting voice, and plenty of soul that just genuinely makes this song (well any of them really) a true masterpiece in my opinion, definitely listen to her if you love blues/soul music

Yes, i wear glasses. I can’t wear contacts cuz my eyes are messed up & the lenses of my glasses have tints & prisms in them.

For teeth, no. But i should, i have an underbite & it makes me hate my smile. Some people find it cute tho. I do wear ankle braces. Like that is a story & a half by itself, but im too sleepy to explain rn. Tl;dr i have weak ankles.

One. I have been to Spain. It is beautiful. I love Segovia so much. I had the best host family there. They are so cute. The architecture is incredible. Like, i could geek out about how awesome my Spain visit was. I would love to travel more, but that costs money, which i dont earn enough to save :’).

What was your scariest dream?

Okay, first off my dreams are prophetic. Like, i get a lot of deja vu feels when i have never been somewhere before & then i see a scene that i have seen in my dreams. So, i had a dream when i was about 5 to 7 years old. I was at a party in an old mansion that my family had recently bought (in the dream) & we were on the top floor. Apparently we were being too loud cuz my mom came upstairs & was like “y'all need to shut up” & then she fell through the wooden floor. All the way down to the bottom. I woke up crying.

Which types of music or which artists do you listen to?

Hi anon! A short answer to that would be to check out my sidebar on my page - back when Last.FM was relevant they used to have a band logo generator and compiled an image full of band logos for the top bands you would listen to. I’ve kept it ever since.

Longer answer: I was never good at pegging generas. Like I’d call Green Day pop-rock whereas some would throw rocks at me and say punk (early years I can see it, not so much with new stuff). Or Bayside punk and then more rocks would be thrown and I’d be screamed at by people saying ‘they’re not punk they’re screamo’ and I never believed in screamo/emo as a fucking genera of music, period. (and as a side note: screamo and emo always felt like slurs/derogatory comments because of the way people used them around me but apparently now - on tumblr - it’s become a term of endearment? and it just doesn’t sit well with me). 

Anyway - I guess pop-rock, rock, hard rock, pop-punk, what isn’t quiet metal IMO but is harder than hard rock so idk what to call it, and whatever the combo of rap and rock is called. Mostly. Like when a recipe calls for ‘a pinch of’ I’ve too got a pinch of hip-hop, indie, and garbage (I call it garbage because what the fuck am I doing? lol)

Toppers: The Used, Bayside, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Green Day. Pretty Solid top 5. 

Some oldies like Styx, the Kinks, Cher, Helen Ready, Simon and Garfunkel, Don Henley, Don McLean and Gordon Lightfoot and god I didn’t realize how many there are because there’s a lot more. All are leftovers from when my mom was in control of all the music. 

Then there’s MY “oldies”: Nysnc, Britney Spears, Christina Aguleria (i’m too tried to spell it so i hope thats right), Backstreet Boys, S Club 7, Aaron Carter, and every disney song ever. They’re still on my iPod and I’m not ashamed. They make me happy.

There’s the bands/artists that shaped my music taste during my music-awakening back in the early 2000s - Pink, Good Charlotte, Green Day, Sum 41, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Blink-182, AFI, Alkaline Trio, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, The Used, The Ataris, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, Anberlin, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Avril Lavigne. 

There’s the bands that filled in my ‘somewhat harder/more screamier music faze’: UnderOath, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Saosin, Aiden, From First to Last, Bullet for my Valentine, Breaking Benjamin, and a few others I’m probably forgetting because I don’t really listen to them anymore except for Atreyu (and I would A7X but my opinion of them was kinda thrown into the fucking mud and beat to death around 07 and never quite recovered). 

There’s the bands that came to me during my “I wanna be Bam Margera times”: CKY, HIM, The Rasmus, Bloodhound Gang, The 69 Eyes being the most prominent ones.

There’s the bands I used to obsess over in my late teens and no longer want to hear anymore of: Mindless Self Indulgence, LostProphets (because I just keep remembering their singer was a disgusting pedo and it’s ruined everything). 

There’s the newbies: Twenty One Pilots, Icon For Hire, HAMILTON (which counts because it owns me), Arctic Monkeys, Starset, Imagine Dragons, Julia Michaels, Bastille. 

There’s the super guilty pleasures: Demi Lovoto, Selena Gomez, a couple of Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber songs that I can tolerate, 1 One Direction song. A few Carrie Underwood thanks to my sister.

There’s the stuff my BFF got me into and hates that I don’t like them as much as she does since she’s pretty much abandoned everything except the bands listed below and ‘super unknown local un-signed bands’ because apparently she turned into a hipster with her music or something: Hollerado, Born Cages, A Silent Film, Foxy Shazam, Mother Mother, the Architects, Paper Tongues. 

There’s whatever Hollywood Undead is but I’ve been listening since No. 5 was the only thing on their myspace and god knows why I keep coming back (because they keep getting better). lol

A fuck ton of musicals, too.

Now, this is by no way a full list. Ignoring the tone of the entire thing (I just woke up and to me all of this sounded funny when I wrote it tho maybe doesn’t come across that way) music means a lot to me. I’m guessing this was brought on by my Chester Bennington post (though maybe not I’m just making an assumption) and I have posted ad nauseam about having a PERSONAL ESSAY PLAYLIST of over 120 songs that I feel could have been written about me, personally, because I relate to them so hard. Music is how I connect with other people. Truly connect with them. So if you (or anyone else) ever wants to come back and talk music with me PLEASE do. Because I can only connect so much through other media (games/tv/movies) but MUSIC is where it’s at for me. Music is what fills my bones and makes me so emotional to a point where I almost feel like the force is real and it’s fucking tearing me apart because IDK what to do with it. LOL

(side note - star wars made official playlists for all the characters and i want EVERY franchise to do that because, like I said - it’s how I connect, and omg they’re wonderful. 2016 Music Madness

Super super overdue but again I wanted to commemorate another good year in music and I definitely think there are some fantastic songs out there despite all the viral ones that only became famous because of challenges-memes. For those who read last year’s list you’d also notice I added new categories (signposted as ‘new’). Hope everyone will try to check out these songs just to get out of your comfort zone but also so that we can discuss them (and fangirl over the artists(!!))

Album of the Year Carly Rae Jensen - Side B

This was a tough one. I’m super biased because I almost awarded Emotion AotY in 2015 but it was beaten by Adele’s later release of 25. This year I was still happily listening to the songs in Emotion but around March Carly released the *songs that didn’t make the cut/didn’t make it to Emotion* and I was so f@*%ing ecstatic because I wanted more of her 80s synth-pop songs. Will be discussing my faves from Side B below.

The reason it was tough was because I also just discovered Alessia Cara’s Know-It-All (released late 2015) in 2016 and I really really like her songs too (pun intended). She is so refreshing not just with her non-pretentious MVs but it’s the first time since Taylor, Adele and Carly that I truly thought the lyrics were great and relatable and were written by a true artist (or maybe I’ve just not tried to discover that many artists in a hot minute). So I’m giving Know-It-All the runner-up award to Best Album of 2016 (even though technically it’s a 2015 album).

Best Comeback - None I can think of/that is notable

Most Surprising Album (in a good way) - Troye Sivan’s Blue Nieighbourhood and Charlie Puth’s Nine Track Mind

Don’t wish to belabor this but I just find it a recurring experience of mine that the first single off any album I almost always am annoyed by. Just like when I initially thought Adele’s Hello was annoyingly sombre when it first came out (because she said it was kind of a ‘revival’ album–of her coming to terms with everything that’s happened in her life so far, so I wasn’t expecting Hello to be the first single off 25, was expecting something more upbeat and revival-y). Anyhoo, Youth from Blue Neighbourhood and Marvin Gaye from Nine Track Mind annoyed the f%@# out of me too initially. Probably because they were always on the radio but I guess like Hello they were songs that just grew on you more than anything. And for the record I understand why the song was named Marvin Gaye but my goodness if he was gonna name a song after a classic artist I feel that the song should’ve at least channeled the artist’s style at the very least? It happened that it was only alluding to the mood that Marvin Gaye songs put people in which is such a waste because Marvin Gaye was a true thespian and master of his craft (listen to What’s Going On and you’ll know what I mean).

Fave New Artist (New) Zara Larsson

People are calling her the ‘White Rihanna’ which I think is unfair because although there are similarities in their music Rihanna is such a queen in her genre and Zara is just starting out (she’s only 19!! Omg I feel so unaccomplished) but I have confidence that this girl is gonna go far (not to say she’ll be Taylor Swift big but I think we haven’t seen much of her yet/she’s only just begun).

I enjoy some of Major Lazer's songs and as you know I selected Justin as best comeback of 2015 but even though this song went into the top 10 charts I was still disappointed. Not their best work tbh.

Shoutout to Disney for finally getting a Pacific Islander Princess. Some problematic Orientalisms and slight cultural appropriation aside, I’m letting it slide because wtf at least Disney is trying and we all know diversity has to start somewhere. Moana was a good first step and as a Pacific Islander myself I really dont mind it. I like Taylor Swift. And that’s okay.

Tay Tay is back y'all. And with this, my complete lack of shame for liking the most popular pop star among thirteen-year-olds. Are you ..Ready For It? I am. I am sitting here listening to iHeartRadio, where we get to listen to a new Reputation song every three songs… as long as you are willing to endure the old country Taylor songs for which I am definitely not crazy about. I am sorry, I just can’t with country, even Taylor country. And waiting until I can run to Target, to get her magazine-album release… Both of them.

God, how did I end up this way?

Rewind to middle-school me. 15-year-old me was all about the punk, the emo, and the rock. Cause it was cool being depressed, full of feelings, and up against the world. My wardrobe revolved around these feelings and this scene, and so it was a wardrobe screaming for help. But at 15 years old, whose wardrobe wasn’t? I have never met a 15-year-old who’s like I LOVE MYSELF, I AM AT MY END GAME HERE, AND THIS IS WHO I’LL BE THE REST OF MY LIFE.

Nope (If you are 15 don’t say that plz).

College was the time everything changed for me. I mean I am that cliched. I tried to resist the clutches of pop music along with its repetitive melodies. But it was impossible. Every time I would play the mainstream music of the moment I would feel like I Did Something Bad. I would play it silently on my headphones. Turn off the sharing features of what I was listening to. Because heaven forbid someone would see me playing some song everyone liked on repeat. OMG how could I be turning into this mainstream monster?! This was the trash music on the radio every day. They were the same songs over and over again carefully designed to be liked by the masses. And I was falling for it. But then it hit me: Why is it so wrong to sing and dance to the songs that were so carefully designed for the simple reason of being enjoyed?

Don’t Blame Me for going against natural instincts. For carelessly dancing to what feels right. For listening to what gives you an instant sense of happiness. For yelling some good catchy lyrics. Pure dopamine for the brain. It’s what feels right.

But changing your views on music is not that easy. Music is, after all, a Delicate subject for many. Telling someone you are into Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, or One Direction is taboo. Actually, I can tell you just started wondering if I like any of these three and started judging me a little there, you bitch. So the judging is the problem. Not the music. There are the fans and the haters. The fans are happy while the haters hate. The ones that think liking what everyone else likes makes you dumb and close-minded. For real. Who is close minded? The one listening to a little bit of everything, including what you call trash, or the one listening to a single type of music. Do you even know the meaning of being close-minded?

Close-minded: not willing to consider different ideas or opinions.

Look What You Made Me Do. I had to pull out the dictionary and there you go. You are welcome (and oh, so wrong and close-minded).

But let’s dig even deeper. One thing is liking what the masses enjoy, and another, subject to harsher general disapproval, is liking one of the previously mentioned artists. Because liking Beyonce is cool since she doesn’t write any songs about her exes. Wrong. Because liking Katy Perry is cool since she doesn’t write songs about her quarrels. Think again. Because liking Kanye West is cool because yeah he’s an asshole full of himself, but his music is dope. Uhm what? But liking T. Swift is for white dumb chicks with too many emotions. Because Taylor Swift releases an album for every ex. Because she does not sell her music, she sells her body. Because all her songs sound the same. Or So It Goes…

Come the fuck on. How can you expect Taylor Swift to not write songs about her exes when she is a twenty-something year old? If I could release all my feelings in a song and make it a fucking anthem for ‘merica I would fucking do it. Do you seriously expect her to appear on stage all covered up? It’s hot up there y'all, and she has designers lined up for her. So why not appear as sexy as she wants? Just like every other fucking pop singer in the world. I would come up with the craziest shit just to fuck with people. And finally, do you seriously think all her songs sound the same? Are you deaf? Wait, no. Because even a deaf person can distinguish musical vibrations and tell that her music is not all the same. So are you just stupid? Or tone deaf because you’ve been listening to the same shit all this time?

Let’s make something clear. Beyonce is Gorgeous, Katy Perry’s music is catchy, and Kanye West is quite talented. I like them all (Although Kanye does seem like a douchebag). Sorry to all the swifties reading this, but it’s true. It’s not like I know them personally, right? So why so much hate? It is a ridiculous thing to take a pop star’s drama so seriously. Chill.

I came to this realization the time I discovered Taylor Swift. I mean I knew she existed, I had the melodies of some of her songs already implanted in my head thanks to the horrible repetitiveness of radio music. But the first time I looked her up was the day of the MTV Awards fiasco with Kanye West. The poor girl probably wanted to get on a Getaway Car and never come back, or just be swallowed by the earth entirely. How could people have an opinion about this? She was what? Nineteen? Fuck off y'all. She was a kid. I am in my twenties and I like to falsely think I’ve matured from all that and become a grownup, but my current obsession with Pusheen the cat and my complete lack of 401K knowledge beg to differ. How can we all expect anything different from someone in the public eye? I became stressed just by seeing her up there, I can only imagine what she felt.

I googled the video everyone was talking about, You Belong With Me, and I liked it. I liked it, but I denied it. Closed it off, emptied my browser history, forgot about it, and that was that. Why? Refer to my lengthy explanation above.

I kept on enjoying some of her songs in secret until her masterpiece of 1989 came along and I could not hide it anymore. That album was gold. And if you think otherwise I respect your opinion, but you are still wrong. That album became my playlist on repeat. It was impeccable from beginning to end. All her melodies worthy to be heard, all the work was evident, her talent undeniable. I became a fan of her. I googled her. I followed her on all her platforms. And that album became my anthem, King of My Heart in every way. I fell in love.

Every time I would listen to a song from my girl T-Swift I would feel the happiness running through me. It was like when I discovered something as different as Blink 182, Arctic Monkeys, or The XX. Her music was different but the feelings were the same. How had Taylor Swift turned me to the dark side of pop? I found myself, Dancing With My Hands Tied, unable to escape the beats her music created inside of me. And I did not care.

It was like listening to something a little too late and something that seemed out of place. However, when I got my ticket for Formula One at Austin, Texas to see Taylor Swift for the very first time in 2016 everything felt just right. I’ve never been the Dress and heels kind of girl. I was never the girl that goes out and sings her lungs out in front of everyone. I have always been somewhat reserved and introverted. But that did not mean I could not enjoy it. That night I sang out loud to every song in the midst of about 250,000 people. I was not in the front row, nor was I in the back. I was not wearing any kind of Taylor Swift merchandise. But that did not mean I could not accept what was so evident: That this 1989 kid was full of talent and heart.

But people still found the time to complain. How could they bring a pop star to Formula One? I mean, last year we got Metallica and this year Taylor Swift. Formula One is really losing its touch. Blah, blah, blah. Let me tell you something, that did not stop anyone from going to her show. This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things. We take them even if we don’t like them. We judge them even if we don’t need to. We complain even if they don’t affect us. Why can we just let go? It’s as if we enjoy the suffering, the gossiping, and the complaining. Let people listen to what they want, even if it’s something you don’t like. Let artists work on what they want, even if it is something created for the sole purpose of selling. Let people live their lives, even if they are in the public sphere for you to look at. After all, they are just regular people like you and me, only with a different job that requires them to look beautiful every second of the day. So just stop bitching all together, go do some yoga or something and be quiet for a minute.

On April of this year, Taylor Swift wiped out her whole Instagram account in order to get people’s attention after being absent for two years. She uploaded three photos of snakes. And she came back with a bang with a song designed to cause controversy and media attention and one of the best-produced videos I have ever seen. Call it attention whore, call it vengeful, call it immature. Call It What You Want. To me, that’s an intelligent move. Why? Because y'all fell right into it. Yes, you did. Did you watch the video? Did you hear the song? Then yes, you did. Stop denying it. Just. Stop. She drew attention to her new album and had everyone talking in a matter of hours. And the song? The song said something Taylor Swift had never been able to say before. That she did not care. She was fine with being called whatever. In fact, go ahead. Because that’s just more material she can use, and she does, and she will.

I was reassured of this after I got my copies of her beautiful magazines (yes I just drove to Target and I got both, fuck off). Reputation is different. Reputation is more than an album. It is a big fuck you to everyone that has gotten the best and worst of her before. It is an album written by someone that is laughing and enjoying herself. I was drawn to her romantic songs, smiling at her sarcasm, and having fun with her vibe. It is beautiful. Like any other 20-something-year-old, she’s not there yet, but she’s on her way to becoming herself, and the final outcome is not looking too bad.

So if you have gotten all the way to the end of this thank you. I am impressed myself that I got all the way to the end of writing this. I am late to the Swifty train, but better late than never right? While 1989 will always hold a special place in my heart, Reputation brought a new and improved Taylor Swift. Or like she says, Reputation brings the version Swift has chosen to show us, one that works better with the crazy world only she knows about. I will be over here feeding off of the talent she chooses to share with us and will be shaking it off to her music no matter if it’s the Fourth of July, New Year’s Day, or any regular day. Because I like @taylorswift . And that’s more than okay.
