see. one thing that always stood out to me about dragon age is the genuine attempts to integrate minorities into the world in a grounded way. this isn't to say it's always been done well, or even good, and sometimes is downright offensive esp compared/contrasted to the groups that inspired them. but when i think about other series that seemingly have racism for the sake of racism, (often simply bc they need x stand-in for this world) i've always appreciated dragon age for trying and doing more than that.

however.

if we had to sacrifice some of the fictional worldbuilding and lore to create better, more socially aware writing for real minority groups, then i'd be fine with that, welcome it even! but we know that's not and never was the case with veilguard bc why the FUCK are the qunari written like that.

#“veilguard defenders” is nonsense to me as a concept and not at all what i consider when i make my silly little posts #it feels far too much like us vs them and that's not something i want to engage with or promote #it adds nothing to the discussions nor my opinions so i never bother #however for the types that do go to bat specifically within the “racism” topics more often than not fail to even mention the qunari in vg #(a case to be made for the elves as well both in-universe and out of but the qunari are a topic that don't brought up for ~whatever reason~#when you have a “good-aligned” npc ask you to your FACE how to tell a “good qunari” from a “bad qunari” and the answer isn't “what the fuck #then you kinda super fucked up there!#dragon age #veilguard critical #dragon age critical #datv critical #bioware critical

#it's totally a reference to Sonic Highschool #Big Knuxpio jumpscare that lasts about five seconds but i find the idea of them kissing after having the weirdest fight ever incrediblyfunn #Especially since Tails said what happens next is only after an 'extreme feeling of love' and Knuckles has a GIRLFRIEND it's so silly #if you don't know what it is i have to warn you it WAS written by a middle schooler who doesn't know how anything works #There's also slurs.. slight homophobia... and racism.. but like.
